Following a couple of stable updates this month, the OnePlus 9RT is finally receiving the OxygenOS 14 stable update. In the morning, the smartphone received a minor bug fix update in a second firmware update for this month. Well, the stable OxygenOS 14 stable udapte is currently rolling out to the closed beta and open beta participants. The broader rollout will take place after a few days for normal users.

The firmware version MT2111_14.0.0.211 (EX01) is rolling out to the OnePlus 9RT India variants. It will be made available in the coming days for other regions. However, details about the size are not yet available. However, the size will vary depending on whether you are a beta user or a normal user.

OxygenOS 14 Features

There are plenty of new features and enhancements that the OxygenOS 14 stable update packs. It also brings Android 14 luxuries, which ensure data privacy and security. Below is the official update changelog:

The users update their OnePlus 9RT smartphone to the latest firmware: MT2111_13.1.0.595 (EX01) or MT2111_13.1.0.592 (EX01) to receive the stable OxygenOS 14 update. To manually check the update, users can head over to Settings > About device > tap up to date > tap icon on the top right > check for updates.

However, most of the issues are mostly rectified in the stable build, but the user can still file for bugs if they are found. They can dial *#800# on Google Dialer or post on the OnePlus Community to easily provide feedback.

The OnePlus 9RT received a December 2023 update earlier this month, and today it received a minor bug fix update on OxygenOS 13. Meanwhile, the device already received OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 2 last month.

Meanwhile, the Nova 12 Pro is said to be powered by the new Kirin 8000 SoC with support for 5G connectivity. This also got confirmed in an alleged leaked live image that surfaced earlier today. The top-end Nova 12 Ultra will reportedly feature the Kirin 9000 SL chipset onboard. It has not powered any Huawei phone before but speculations hint at an underclocked version of the Kirin 9000S.

As per past rumors, the Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Ultra are expected to pack similar to each other. To recap, Huawei FreeClip are company’s first open-ear style earphones that don’t require users to discern between left and right ears. It comes in a unique two-part structure consisting of a comfort bean (rear portion) and an acoustic ball (speaker) joined in by a C-bridge design.

Huawei Kirin makes a comeback, securing 5th place in global chipset market

After facing hurdles due to US sanctions and chip shortages for years, Huawei’s Kirin processor has bounced back in a big way, reclaiming a spot in the top five global chipmakers.

According to a Q3 2023 report by Counterpoint Research, chip maker Hisilicon (wholly owned by Huawei) now holds 5th place with a 3% share of the global chipset market. This marks a significant recovery for the company, which struggled to find alternatives after being blacklisted by the US government.

Huawei’s resurgence can largely be attributed to its 2023 product offering starting with the Mate 60 series. The smartphone, equipped with a 5G-enabled Kirin 9000s processor, became an instant hit in China. Thanks to this, Huawei is now finally back in the global chipmaker’s race.

Other Kirin-powered devices like the Mate X5 foldable phone and MatePad Pro 13.2 (review) tablet have also received positive feedback from users in China, further solidifying the company’s position in the market. The momentum is expected to continue in 2024 with the launch of the mid-range Nova 12 series, rumored to feature Kirin processors.

While Huawei’s comeback is impressive, Qualcomm remains the dominant player with a 40% market share, largely thanks to the use of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in premium Chinese flagships. Apple follows closely behind in second place with a 31% share, driven by the iPhone 15 series.

MediaTek holds the third position in terms of revenue with a 15% share, and Samsung is fourth with a 7% market share. After Huawei, Unisoc comes in at sixth position with a 2% market share and Google’s Tensor SoC has also secured a decent 1% market share while ranking seventh on the list.

Poco X6 and X6 Pro smartphones have been steadily surfacing on various certifications, hinting at an imminent global launch. And it looks like the official announcement might be just around the corner!

Himanshu Tandon, Poco India country head, dropped a Christmas tweet with a not-so-subtle clue: “Happy Xmas Everyone! Santa is coming with a gift soon.” This tease strongly suggests that the Poco X6 series is about to arrive in India.

Similar to its predecessor, the X6 series is expected to offer only two models: the standard X6 and the higher-end X6 Pro.

Leaks suggest the Poco X6 could be a rebranded Redmi Note 13 Pro. If so, we can expect a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED screen with 1.5k resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

The device could be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, accompanied by LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The camera setup is rumored to feature a 64MP main sensor alongside a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP additional unit.

The Poco X6 Pro, meanwhile, might be a rebadged Redmi K70E. This translates to a 6.67-inch 1.5K OLED display with an 1800 nits peak brightness and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will come with Dimensity 8300 Ultra SoC paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Camera-wise, the Poco X6 Pro might pack a triple-lens setup on the back. The main sensor will be a 64-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) for sharp, steady shots. Joining it will be an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies and video calls, there will be a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

While official Poco X6 series launch details remain under wraps, a previous report suggests that the smartphone may launch globally in late 2024. We will keep you informed on any new developments.
