Vivo has just announced a brand-new Y series smartphone in China. The company recently launched the Vivo Y200 and Y55t models in its home market. Now, it has released the new Vivo Y100 5G in the region. So here are all the details.

The Chinese smartphone maker’s Y100 5G sports a tall 6.78-inch curved OLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution, low blue light protection, and a 1,200Hz touch sampling rate. Meanwhile, the rear features a dual camera setup on a curved back panel. The device measures just 7.49mm in thickness and weighs around either 172 grams (Starry Black) or 184 grams (Glass Blue) in weight grams in weight. Despite being an affordable handset, Vivo placed a focus on making this device feel premium with the textured glass designs on the rear.

Under the hood, the Vivo Y100 5G is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC that is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The rear features a dual camera setup that consists of a 64-megapixel primary sensor that features OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) with a 2-megapixel secondary shooter.

Other notable features include IP54 water and dust resistance, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Android 13 OS based OriginOS 3 custom skin, and face recognition.

The Vivo Y100 5G is available in multiple color options, namely Starry Black, Glass Blue, and a special textured Green model. This smartphone starts from 1,399 Yuan (roughly $191) for its base 8GB + 128GB version. On the other hand, the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variant costs 1,599 yuan (roughly $218) and 1,799 Yuan (roughly $245) respectively. The top end 12GB + 512GB model of the Vivo Y100 5G has a 1,999 Yuan (roughly $273) price tag. It is currently listed for pre orders, with sales kicking off on November 4.
Apple is reportedly planning to release a new version of its AirPods Max over-ear headphones in late 2024, with the main changes being new color options and a switch to USB-C port.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new AirPods Max will not feature the H2 chip or its attendant features like Adaptive Audio and Personalized Volume. In fact, Gurman says the next version of the AirPods Max may not even change the generation number, similar to the USB-C AirPods Pro.
The only major change is to USB-C interface, which is likely to comply with European regulations, which will require all smartphones and other portable devices to have a common charging port by 2024. It will also make the AirPods Max more consistent with other Apple products, which have already transitioned to USB-C.
Gurman adds that Apple’s plans could change between now and when the AirPods Max are released, but a late 2024 release date with USB-C charging and new color options is currently the most likely scenario.
Last week, Gurman also reported that all three AirPods models and Mac accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad are likely to transition to USB-C by 2024.
This is a positive development, as USB-C is a more versatile and widely adopted charging standard. It will also make it easier for Apple users to charge all of their devices with a single cable.
Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch a new budget-friendly Chromebook, according to reports from Chrome Unboxed and Gerrit Commits. The device, codenamed “Pirrha,” is expected to feature an Intel Core i3-N305 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 1080p webcam.
One of the key differentiating features of the “Pirrha” Chromebook is its stylus support. The device will come with its own pen and will also be compatible with the Universal Stylus Initiative (USI), allowing users to use any stylus instead of relying on Samsung’s proprietary S Pen technology.

China-based smartphone manufacturer itel has just announced a new device in the global market called the itel A70 4G. This 4G device comes with entry-level hardware and is expected to be quite pocket-friendly.

The itel A70 4G measures a mere 8.6mm in thickness. The design of its camera array closely resembles the iPhone 15 Pro. Its display boasts a 6.6-inch HD+ screen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels, featuring a 120Hz touch sampling rate and a maximum brightness of 500nits. The screen also incorporates a Dynamic Bar, which is quite similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking.

Samsung today announced the release of the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro, a limited-edition phone that commemorates the company’s 20-year legacy of innovation in foldable phones. The Z Flip5 Retro is inspired by the SGH-E700, Samsung’s first flip phone with a built-in antenna, which was released in 2003.
The Flip5 Retro features a retro design with Indigo blue and silver colors, reminiscent of the E7000. It also comes with some nostalgic pixel graphics UI tweaks and a cityscape animation on its Flex Window cover screen.
Samsung has also gone the extra mile with the packaging for the Flip5 Retro. The phone will ship in a box with logos of both the Z Flip5 and the E700, as well as Flipsuit cards with stickers featuring the various Samsung logos from past eras. OnePlus is gearing up to unveil the OnePlus 12 flagship phone in the Chinese market. There is speculation that the device might be launched in late November or early December. In the past week, the Chinese variant of this device, identified by the PJD110 model number, was seen in the AnTuTu benchmark database. Now, a different OnePlus phone with the model number CPH2581, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, has emerged on Geekbench. This device appears to be the global version of the OnePlus 12.

As can be seen in the screenshot, the Geekbench listing of the OnePlus 12 does not mention the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip explicitly. However, the CPU and GPU details available in the listing are enough to confirm that it features the latest flagship chip from Qualcomm.
The listing further reveals that the device has 16 GB of RAM and Android 14 onboard. The global version of the device may ship with the all-new OxygenOS 14, whereas its Chinese edition will have ColorOS 14.
In the single-core test of Geekbench 6, the OnePlus 12 scored 2169 points. The device recorded a score of 6501 points in the multi-core test.

The Retroid Pocket 2S delivers a retro-gaming experience in a compact handheld device. The trajectory of the new variant of the Retroid Pocket 2S could be similar to that of the Pocket 3 Plus Meta Edition. There are speculations that the Pocket 2S Metal Edition could have a starting price of $129 for the 3GB/ 32GB RAM/ storage configuration. It is also speculated that the 4GB/ 128GB model will be priced at around $149. The release date for the Retroid Pocket 2S Metal Edition has not been stated at this time.

There is currently an array of third-party metal shells for the Retroid Pocket 2S in more colors than originally released. We doubt if there are any other differences between the Pocket 2S and Pocket 2S Metal Edition aside from the metal build. We’ll find out about that when it is officially released. Xiaomi’s recent launch of the Xiaomi 14 series has been met with much fanfare, thanks to the top-of-the-line specifications and features on offer. But there is one hidden surprise feature that hasn’t been talked about much—UltraSpace storage expansion.
It is a patented new technology that Xiaomi uses in the Xiaomi 14 series to expand the phone’s available storage beyond its original capacity using available UFS storage.
This may be confusing for some, so let me explain it with an example.
Xiaomi 14: 264GB storage on a 256GB model with UltraSpace storage expansion
In simpler terms, UltraSpace storage expansion is a feature that gives you more space on your smartphone without adding any extra physical storage. Typically, you’d sacrifice storage space for more virtual RAM, but Xiaomi’s implementation offers more storage instead—like pulling a rabbit out of a hat!
For example, if you buy a 256GB Xiaomi 14 Pro, you will actually have 264GB of total storage space on your phone, with 8GB of extra free space thanks to this new technology.
Xiaomi is cleverly using the space reserved for Over-Provisioning (OP) in the UFS memory chip for this. OP is a technique used to improve the performance and reliability of flash memory by reserving a portion of the storage space for tasks such as Wear Leveling (WC), Garbage Collection (GC), and Bad Block Mapping.
The company found that this space is often too large, for example, a 256GB UFS memory chip actually has a real capacity of more than 266GB, which means over 10GB of space is reserved for OP.
However, Xiaomi engineers found a way to free up this extra space without sacrificing performance or reliability. The company says it rewrote the system (HyperOS) firmware and optimized it to use much less space, freeing up 8/16GB on their 256/512GB storage models, giving them “264/528GB” of actual usable storage.
As a result, the 256GB version of the Xiaomi 14 Pro has 8GB expanded storage to make it 264GB, while the 512GB version of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro has 16GB expanded storage to make it 528GB.
This is a significant increase in storage space, which can be useful for storing more applications, photos, videos, and other data. It is also worth noting that this technology does not require any additional hardware, so it does not increase the cost of the smartphone.
However, Xiaomi’s new UltraSpace storage expansion technology is only available on the 256GB model of the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the 512GB model of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.
This leaves a few unanswered questions, such as why the 256GB model of the Xiaomi 14 does not get the same 8GB expansion, and why there is no mention of UltraSpace storage expansion for the 1TB variant.
Despite this, the UltraSpace storage expansion is a promising new technology that could offer significant benefits to users.

The chassis of the Gogoro CrossOver was designed for off-road use. It has a ground clearance of 14.2cm and a range of up to 150km on an average speed of 30km/h. The Gogoro CrossOver therefore offers a solid drivetrain paired with a pretty powerful battery setup. The customizable luggage system of the electric scooter is another of its versatility highlights. The storage consists of the steel frames that surround the rear portion of the scooter together with tubular frames.
The Gogoro CrossOver has an LED headlight and a compact luggage rack under the removable split passenger seat. Gogoro says that there are up to 25 points via which cargo can be attached to the e-scooter.
