Samsung Galaxy Buds FE Rumored to Launch for $99.99

Samsung is reportedly working on the Galaxy S23 FE, and it has also been seen on various certification websites. However, the S23 FE is not the only FE device in the works. Samsung is also said to be working on a new set of affordable earbuds known as the Galaxy Buds FE.

Now, reliable leaker Roland Quandt has shared some key details about the upcoming Galaxy Buds FE. The buds will feature 12mm drivers, which are slightly larger than the drivers in the Galaxy Buds 2, and will retail for $99.99, putting them in the midrange price bracket. This makes them about the same price as Google’s Pixel Buds A.

In addition to the price, Quandt also shared that the Galaxy Buds FE will be available in graphite and white colorways. Earlier this week, Samsung also accidentally leaked the official user manual for the earbuds. The manual’s PDF is currently available at this link on Samsung’s website, but it’s unclear how long it will be available.

The leaked user manual for the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE reveals that the earbuds will have a similar design to other Samsung headphones, with features such as touchpads and attachable wingtips. This is in line with Samsung’s FE strategy of offering many features of its higher-end products at a lower price. The manual also includes a look at the charging case, which is a standard earbud charging case.

Samsung has not yet officially announced the Galaxy Buds FE, so it is unclear when they will be available to purchase. However, the fact that the manual has leaked in full suggests that they may be released soon.

Moto Tab G84 could be Motorola’s latest tablet, leaked images show its design

Motorola has recently launched several new smartphones in the market, including the mid-range Moto Edge 40 Neo. However, we haven’t seen as many tablets from the Lenovo-owned company. The Moto Tab G62 LTE was the last tablet the company launched, but soon it may unveil a new model called the Moto Tab G84. A recent report has shared the renders of the tablet, revealing a couple of details in the process.

An Appauls report claims Motorola is gearing up to launch the Moto Tab G84 in India soon. This tablet should debut as the successor of the Tab G70, which itself was launched back in 2022. The renders of the new slate reveal it will continue to feature thick bezels like previous Motorola tablets. It gets a single 8MP camera setup on the dual-tone back. Although it’s unclear from the pictures, the report highlights the tablet has a metallic body.

Moto Tab G84 looks like a large-screen tablet as it has a selfie camera in a landscape orientation. The back of the tablet has a small cut-out for a magnetic connector, likely for a stylus pen. The Motorola logo is centered on the back of the tablet. The tablet has JBL speakers with support for Dolby Atmos.

On the bottom edge of the tablet, there is a Pogo PIN connection with three contact points, which could be a docking interface for a keyboard accessory. On the right side of the tablet, there are two speakers and a USB-C port.

Currently, the specifications of the tablet are anyone’s guess and so is its launch date. We expect more details to emerge in the coming days. Stay tuned for the updates!

One of the best deals is from Verizon. The carrier is offering $1000 off to new and existing customers who trade in an eligible device and sign up for a new Unlimited Ultimate plan. The base 128GB model costs $999.99, so your upgrade is essentially free if you can get the highest trade-in value. AT&T is offering a free iPhone 15 to customers who trade in an eligible phone and sign up for an unlimited plan. You can get up to $830 off with a qualifying trade-in. Older models, such as the iPhone X series, may also qualify for smaller discounts.

Additionally, Best Buy and Target are offering attractive discounts, but again, you’ll need to trade in your old phone and sign up for a new carrier plan to qualify.

Ultimately, the best preorder deal for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. Be sure to compare all of your options before making a decision.

Here is a roundup of the best iPhone 15 Pro Max preorder deals:

How Significant is Google’s $93 Million Settlement for Consumer Protection?

Google has agreed to pay $93 million to settle claims with California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta, putting to rest allegations that the company misused location data for advertising. This comes after similar legal issues in Arizona and Washington last year, where Google faced comparable accusations. But what does this actually mean?

Google was allegedly collecting location data even after users turned their location history off

The central issue at hand was Google’s alleged collection of user location data, even after users had turned off the “location history” feature. According to the California Department of Justice, this violated consumer protection laws.

Google

While $93 million may sound like a significant penalty, it’s worth noting that this amount is a fraction of Google’s overall revenue—most of which comes from advertising. Moreover, location-based advertising is a key component of Google’s business model. The settlement, therefore, raises questions about its long-term impact on tech giants and data privacy.

As part of the agreement, Google is not just parting with money but has also committed to “deter future misconduct.” Specifically, the company is required to offer clearer information about how it collects and uses location data. Users will also be provided with disclaimers that their location information could be used for personalized ads.

The settlement could serve as a warning to other tech companies about the increasing scrutiny around data privacy. Yet, the relatively small financial hit for Google suggests that whether this case will instigate genuine change in the industry remains uncertain. One thing is clear: the conversation around data privacy and corporate accountability is far from over.

Foxconn offers higher wages for Huawei workers in Shenzhen compared to iPhone production

In a move that underscores the shifting dynamics of the global tech manufacturing industry, Foxconn Technology Group, a key supplier for Apple, is offering higher wages to workers involved in making Huawei Technologies’ handsets at its production unit in Shenzhen, Southern China, compared to those working on Apple’s iPhones. The development has been revealed through recruitment posts and information provided by labor agencies.

At Foxconn’s FIH unit, which specializes in manufacturing Huawei smartphones and operates under the umbrella of Foxconn International Holdings, new workers at the factory in Shenzhen’s Longhua district are being offered an hourly wage of 26 yuan (approximately $3.60). This rate is notably higher than the hourly wage of 21 yuan offered to workers at Foxconn’s integrated Digital Product Business Group (iDPBG), responsible for iPhone production.

The FIH unit has increasingly become a vital player in the manufacturing ecosystem of Huawei and other smartphone companies, predominantly focusing on Huawei’s production requirements. Workers recruited by the FIH unit are assigned to different teams based on current demand, with a significant likelihood of being involved in the production of Huawei handsets.

This move by Foxconn comes in the midst of fierce production competition between Apple and Huawei, both of whom have recently launched new 5G smartphones in the world’s largest smartphone market, China. With the global push for 5G technology and increased demand for compatible smartphones, both tech giants are racing to capture a larger share of this lucrative market.

The wage differentials between Foxconn’s Huawei and iPhone production units highlight a broader trend in the industry. Foxconn has been known for its sizable workforce and production facilities in China, particularly in cities like Zhengzhou and Taiyuan. However, changes in market demand, geopolitical tensions, and evolving supply chain strategies have led to shifts in wage structures.

In the past, Foxconn employees could earn substantial bonuses and higher monthly incomes, especially during peak production seasons. However, according to an internal source at Foxconn’s labor service supply company, this year’s bonuses may increase by only around 1,000 yuan (approximately $137) due to reduced orders and a lesser need for workers.

It’s worth noting that Apple has been actively diversifying its supply chain to reduce dependence on a single manufacturer and mitigate risks associated with geopolitical tensions. This diversification has led to a reevaluation of wage structures at Foxconn, which remains a vital partner for Apple but is also expanding its work for other prominent tech companies like Huawei.

Foxconn’s decision to offer higher wages to workers manufacturing Huawei handsets compared to iPhones highlights the competitive landscape of the tech manufacturing industry and the evolving dynamics of supply chains in response to market demands and geopolitical considerations. As Apple and Huawei continue their battle for dominance in the 5G smartphone market, such wage differentials may have significant implications for the workforce and the broader industry.

Apple to issue software update to address iPhone 12 radiation concerns in France

Apple has announced that it will release a software update for iPhone 12 users in France after the country’s radiation watchdog raised concerns about the device’s emissions.

The French National Frequency Agency (ANFR) said that tests showed that the iPhone 12 emits electromagnetic waves that are above European standards. As a result, the ANFR ordered Apple to halt sales of the model in France and resolve the issue within two weeks or face a recall.

Apple has disputed the ANFR’s findings, saying that the iPhone 12 is safe and has been certified in countries around the world. However, the company has agreed to issue a software update to address the concerns raised by the French regulator.

The software update is expected to be released in the coming weeks. It is not yet clear what specific changes the update will make, but it is likely to involve adjusting the way that the iPhone 12 handles radio waves.

iPhone 12 Software Update France Radiation

The French regulator ANFR said that it would test the software update to see if it makes a difference to the electromagnetic waves the device emits. If it does, the regulator said that it would bring the model into compliance with European standards and lift the marketing withdrawal order.

The radiation concerns surrounding the iPhone 12 have also raised concerns in other European countries. Belgium, Germany, and Italy have all said that they are reviewing the situation. It is possible that other countries may also require Apple to issue a software update for the iPhone 12.

Apple is already phasing out the iPhone 12, which was released in 2020. The company announced its new iPhone 15 lineup on Tuesday, and the iPhone 12 is no longer being sold. However, the software update will be available to all iPhone 12 users in France, regardless of when they purchased their device.
