Samsung recently unveiled its latest generation of foldable smartphones, which included the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, it appears that work on a successor to the Flip model has already begun and there are some major upgrades.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Camera Improvements
The South Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with the same camera as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which is a 12-megapixel primary sensor. But it seems like the next-gen Flip model will feature some notable improvements, especially in the photography department. According to a new report from the GalaxyClub, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will feature a major upgrade in camera technology.
Apparently, Samsung is currently testing the prototypes of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a 50-megapixel primary camera. If this news is true, the company’s next-gen foldable phone will bring a notable upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Unfortunately, the report does not reveal any finer details regarding this camera sensor or its lenses. But based on what we know so far, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 will carry the codename B6, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have the codename Q6.
The two 2024 foldable smartphones are still a year away from being announced so it is still too early to know for sure. Keep in mind that this is also just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt and stick around for more updates regarding this matter.
SK Hynix has unveiled its latest DRAM innovation, the HBM3E memory, a groundbreaking product specifically designed for AI applications. This announcement establishes the company’s dominance in the ultra-high-performance memory sector. Samples are already being distributed to customers for performance verification, and mass production starts in 1H24.
HBM3E Achieves an Astounding 1.15TB/s Data Processing Speed
HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) refers to a stack of multiple DRAM chips vertically arranged, which considerably amplifies data processing speeds. The evolution of HBM DRAM has seen its advancements from the first-generation HBM to the most recent, fifth-generation HBM3E. Notably, HBM3E is an enhancement of its predecessor, HBM3.
With their extensive history in HBM production, SK Hynix commented on the release, “As the exclusive manufacturer of HBM3, our development of the world’s most superior HBM3E showcases our deep expertise and commitment to leading the AI memory market.” The company has plans to commence mass production of this cutting-edge memory by the first half of the subsequent year.
The HBM3E boasts a staggering data processing speed of 1.15 terabytes per second. To put this in perspective, it’s capable of handling 230 full high-definition (FHD) movies, each 5 gigabytes in size, in just one second.
Beyond its sheer speed, the product incorporates the latest Advanced MR-MUF technology, enhancing heat dissipation by a notable 10% compared to its previous generation. Furthermore, the HBM3E is designed with backward compatibility. This feature enables a seamless transition for customers, allowing the integration of HBM3E into existing HBM3-based systems without necessitating any design alterations.
The longstanding partnership between NVIDIA and SK Hynix further solidifies the promise of HBM3E. Ian Buck, VP of NVIDIA’s Hyperscale and HPC Division, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration’s future, emphasizing the potential of the new HBM3E in revolutionizing AI computing.
Samsung is also set to start mass production of HBM chips tailored for AI in the latter half of 2023, competing directly with SK Hynix. In 2022, SK Hynix held a 50% share of the HBM market, Samsung had 40%, and Micron accounted for the remaining 10%. The HBM market constitutes just 1% of the overall DRAM segment.
ECOVACS ROBOTICS recently showcased a new range of cutting-edge products during its 2023 Global Launch Event. This introduction represents the brand’s ongoing commitment to addressing diverse home service needs and reinforcing its “Robotics for All” ethos. We were excited to be there and take a closer look at the three of the newly released robots. You can check out the video about the event tour.
ECOVACS Deebot X2 OMNI
The first one is the Deebot X2 OMNI robot vacuum. The biggest changes noticeable to the eyes are the shape and size. The front of the robot has been designed in a square body, with 32cm wide and 95mm high, and the mop underneath is 200mm wide, which is pretty large.
If you have followed up on the robot vacuum products in this market, you will understand that, unlike all the rounded robot vacuums out there, such shape and dimension changes, we’ve seen before in the market, can again largely improve the capability of cleaning some hard-to-reach places, like 90-degree corners, areas under or around the sofa, and we will definitely notice the differences it makes. Meanwhile, the mop lift is improved to 15mm high now and the suction power is upgraded to 7500-8000pa, this will enable the robot to climb up taller carpets and will not leave any dirt behind. Ecovas claims that the X2 OMNI can clean up to 99.77% of the whole house, which is much like a figure that we haven’t seen before.
In order to fulfill a vacuum’s destiny, the brain of the robot has also been upgraded. The AIVI 3D 2.0 system has a “Dual-laser Lidar”, which not only significantly reduced the height of the robot, but also can detect everything much quicker and more precisely within a wide 210-degree field of view.
The benefit of the upgrades enables the robot to have a better computing ability, you can see how it maps out the more squared-off corners and accurate tiny objects. In reality, it can determine the size and position of the objects in front of it, not just one, but all of them, so it can decide the best route to go ahead without any trials. The AI machine learning ability has really helped the robot to select the best navigation strategy, to put it into comparison here, some models from other brands will just stuck and can’t decide which way to go, but the X2 OMNI is doing an excellent job here. The mobility is incredible. By the way, this tech is also used in some electric cars, so the reliability and response are second to none for sure.
Some other features worth mentioning are auto dirty-water detection, auto detergent filling, and YIKO intelligent voice assistant 2.0. Which also helps a lot to improve the overall experience.
After this, would you say it can help you better with household cleaning? let us know your thought down below, and we will try to do a more in-depth review of this later on.
ECOVACS WINBOT W2
Next one is the Winbot W2. Living in the concrete jungle is something we are all familiar with, and the glass window is the portal for us to know the outside world, well keeping it clean can be an essential task we all need to do. The Winbot, a window cleaning robot from Ecovacs solves the problems perfectly, and the W2, got some improvements over the first gen.
The best part is that it has a station for the robot, this station is multi-fuctional, it plays the role of taking the robot anywhere it should be, providing power when the robot is working, automatically retracting the cables, and also it can stick to the floor. In case the robot falls from the window, the station will make sure it does not fall further down, this is a very thoughtful design. With this station, the robot can work for 80mins, it can definitely clean many windows in the house. But just to remind you, the station can not suck on the window like the robot, it’s better to put it on the ground it should be.
A common problem with window-mopping robots is that, when it’s working, the cables will easily tangle together, resulting in malfunction or falling. The W2 solves this problem by utilizing only one strong cable on it, the cable is made of composite materials, and won’t easily bind to anything, and even if it falls, W2 will react within 0.02 seconds, and the cable will hold the robot from falling.
Lastly, the cleaning ability. In hot weather or the glass is in extremely dirty condition, cleaning will be harder. So the W2 can solve this by adapting 2800Pa suction power, and the three nozzles on the robot will spray the water out evenly and continuously, keeping the area wet all the time, as you can imagine, this will help with the cleaning a lot.
ECOVACS AIRBOT Z2
Well these are the main upgrades for the W2, let’s jump to the last one, the Airbot Z2.
The Airbot Z2 is a mobile air purifier. It has the same AIVI 3D system like the X2 OMNI, so it has the same AI mapping and accurate navigation ability, and with all the sensors in each room, it will navigate its own way to find the spaces that need air purification. I must say this is a much more advanced solution than the traditional air purifiers that just sit there and work hard trying to do their job. In a typical experiment, the Z2 can bring the PM2.5 figure down to 25 with half of the time a normal air purifier needs. Another benefit of this AIVI 3D system is that, it can follow the house owner anywhere around providing clean air, sort of like a robotic pet.
The Z2 has 5 layers of filters, each to filter out certain types of odors. The most appealing one to some people is the pet hair filter, it can get rid of 97.5% of the pet hair that might cause allergies, which is quite impressive.
To create a more pleasant environment for the household, Ecovacs works with a well-known perfume brand to bring some essential oil to the Z2, so you have both clean and refreshing air.

Foldable Smartphones have finally started gaining momentum in China’s smartphone market. Following the CINNO Research data report, the foldable smartphone market share is inflated by 72% based on a Year-on-Year comparison. It is pretty surprising to see the positive trend in foldable sales when overall Smartphone sales have reduced for eleven straight quarters.
The latest foldable launch by Huawei has made it secure 1st position in the sales list. Thanks to the Huawei Mate X3 and its exciting design and specifications have led to solid sales in Q2 2023. The onboard software also enabled the foldable smartphone to garner maximum sales. However, Oppo managed to gain 2nd position with Samsung tailing at the 3rd position. Samsung sales mostly relied on the previous year’s foldable i.e. Fold 4 and Flip 4 as the new foldable were introduced recently.
The Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi remained at the 4th, 5th, and 6th position, respectively in terms of sales for the first half of 2023.
Among all the OEMs, Huawei manages to secure half of the overall foldable market share. Meanwhile, Samsung follows with the ~40% overall market share. Other manufacturers’ share is also set to increase with good sales in the recent months.
Flip or Fold: Which design rules the market?
The Horizontal Flip aka Fold form factor seems to be attracting more buyers due to its large display. The report indicates that the Fold-form factor catered to 55% of sales. In this form factor, Huawei manages to secure 1st rank followed by Samsung and Honor at consecutive positions.
However, the vertical display aka Flip form factor is now slowly catching up.
Last year, on September 6, it was Huawei, not Apple, that first introduced satellite connectivity on a mainstream smartphone. A day later, on September 7, the Cupertino company also introduced this new technology with the iPhone 14 series. Satellite connectivity allows a phone to connect to a low-orbit satellite and send an SOS message even when there is no cellular signal reception.
The life-saving satellite communication feature is coming to more phones soon. Google has made it compatible with Android 14, and there are rumors that Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi will bring it to their devices through Qualcomm. It’s clear that satellite communication on phones could be the next big thing, so it’s important you know what it is and how it works.
What is Satellite connectivity on modern phones?
If you’re anything like us, you must have seen those old satellite phones with long antennas sticking out of their heads. Unlike your regular cell phone, a satphone connects to other phones or the telephone network via a radio link through satellites orbiting the Earth instead of terrestrial cell sites. This enables them to be useful even in the remotest locations.
Carrying a satellite phone in our pockets is not an option for most of us, so manufacturers are pushing the tech on modern smartphones, and yes, with no visible antennas. However, the current technology only allows you to send text messages via satellite and not make any calls. Also, there are certain hardware requirements for integrating this feature into smartphones. As Mishaal Rahmaan points out, the feature will depend on the modem hardware in the device you are using.
If you’re wondering how this feature can help you, here’s an example: Imagine you’re feeling adventurous and plan a trip to a remote location in the world. You get there and find yourself beyond the reach of cellular towers. God forbid, you get into an emergency and can’t reach out to someone. Satellite communication on your phone can solve this problem by providing a connection even when there is no terrestrial network available. We have already heard of numerous cases where satellite SOS technology has saved lives, the most recent being a family who used this feature to escape the Hawaii wildfires.
How does Satellite connectivity work on smartphones?
To support satellite connectivity, smartphone manufacturers need to tightly integrate hardware and software. The Apple iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models have hardware components that are deeply integrated with software, allowing antennas to directly connect to a satellite.
Apple has partnered with Globalstar, a satellite communications company that operates a constellation of 48 low-orbit satellites. To send emergency messages via satellite, Apple developed a unique compression algorithm that shrinks text messages to a third of their original size. The emergency message is received by one of Globalstar’s satellites in low-earth orbit, which travels at speeds of approximately 16,000 mph. The satellite then passes the message down to ground stations located at key points all over the world.
Huawei Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro smartphones can send short texts and use navigation thanks to China’s global BeiDou satellite network. However, Huawei’s description of the system suggests that the Mate 50 phones can only send texts via satellite, not receive them.
It’s possible the future phones will implement the technology in a different way. They may even bring voice and data connectivity.
What lies in the future?
Many Android brands could introduce this feature with their upcoming flagship phones. Qualcomm announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) that phone makers, including Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Motorola, Nothing, and Honor, are ready to bring satellite communication capabilities to their phones. However, there are no specific details available as of now.
Qualcomm unveiled its Snapdragon Satellite technology in partnership with satellite service provider Iridium at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. It will allow Android smartphones to send two-way text messages and access other messaging apps using satellites in emergency situations, similar to what we have seen on iPhones.
In addition, a recent report suggests Google wants to bring satellite connectivity to Messages (Via Mishaal Rahmaan). The search giant appears to be adding the user interface (UI) elements required to initiate emergency SOS messages via satellite within its Messages app. It shouldn’t be a surprise since Google has already announced that Android 14 will support satellite connectivity.
T-Mobile also announced its own partnership with SpaceX to provide satellite connectivity on smartphones through Starlink satellites. MediaTek also joined the fray in February 2023 and showed off two chipsets that enable two-way satellite communication on smartphones. And let’s not forget the rumors about satellite connectivity on future Samsung flagships that have been circulating since last year.
Satellite connectivity on phones is the next big thing
There’s no doubt satellite Communication on smartphones has the potential to have a significant impact on our lives. The promise of continuous, far-reaching connectivity can be a game-changer, especially in life-threatening situations. Clearly, this makes satellite communication on smartphones not just a luxury, but a possible lifesaver.

Apple is all set to introduce a refreshing change to the iPhone 15 series this September. The buzz around this launch isn’t just about the phone itself but also the accessories that come with it. Here’s why.
The cable will reportedly have a data transfer speed of up to 40Gbps
Apple’s newly revealed USB-C to C braided data cable promises to be more than just a tool for charging. Available in various colors to match the different iPhone models, it reflects a blend of style and functionality. The new design appears to be different from the existing MacBook data cables.
What sets this cable apart is its reported data transfer speed of up to 40Gbps, which marks the fastest USB-C specification to date. Moreover, it supports PD charging power up to 100W, translating to quicker phone charging. But that’s not all. In a move to enhance the user experience further, Apple is also likely to introduce a new MagSafe charger. This charger uses a magnetic connection design to hold the device securely, reducing the chance of accidental disconnection.
Apple’s decision to possibly allow users to purchase the new data cable separately or provide color-matched cables with the phones is a testament to the company’s consumer-centric approach. This flexibility, coupled with technological advancements, shows that Apple is not just following trends but also shaping them to align with customer needs.
The upcoming iPhone 15 series seems to be taking a step in a direction that combines design with cutting-edge technology. It’s Apple doing what Apple does best – being both trendy and efficient.
Now that Samsung has unveiled the 2023 foldable phones, the focus of the rumor mill gradually switches to the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones, which is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2024. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Ice Universe, reveals a major design change that will come to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus phones.
Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ to feature iPhone-like flat edges
Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus
The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus are equipped with a flat back and a slightly protruding middle frame. The new leak suggests that the South Korean tech giant will ditch this design on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. In recent times, many smartphone manufacturers have adopted the flat-edge design seen on iPhones. The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus are also expected to sport flattened edges, according to the tipster.
The leak does not say anything about the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which indicates that its frame design will diverge from that of the S24 and S24+. Hence, akin to the approach taken with the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra, it is possible that the S24 Ultra model might adopt an edge panel design to establish its uniqueness in terms of design attributes when compared to the S24 and S24+.
In a world driven by technology, the sudden cut in prices by TSMC, a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, has taken the industry by surprise. This article explores the impact of this decision, the reasons behind it, and what it means for both the company and its customers.
The first quarter saw a mild increase in revenue, but it dipped in the following quarter
TSMC, known for catering to giants like Apple, Qualcomm, and Huawei, initially planned to increase quotations for advanced manufacturing processes by 2024. But in a turn of events, they reduced the foundry price of 8-inch wafers by up to 30% last week. The reason? Lackluster demand.
This reduction in prices may come as a boon for tech companies, especially those in the automotive chip sector. TSMC’s lower quotations may translate to more affordable products for end consumers. But for TSMC, this might be a double-edged sword.
The company’s financial reports showcase a mixed picture. While the first quarter of the year showed a modest increase in revenue, the second quarter witnessed a dip in both revenue and net profit, marking the smallest quarterly increase in nearly four years.
Despite these challenges, TSMC’s decision to lower prices is a reminder that the market is ever-changing. While the immediate future might seem uncertain, this could be a strategic move by TSMC to retain its customer base and adapt to a new market reality.
Tesla is on a march across Europe, extending the reach of its V4 Supercharging stations. The latest additions include the United Kingdom and Norway, signaling more than just a geographical expansion.
Tesla seems to be setting up infrastructure for future expansion
The real story behind these new installations lies in the ingenious engineering within the chargers. A peek inside reveals that Tesla has utilized every inch of space within the tall, boxy shape of the dispensers. It’s a visual testament to efficiency and design.

This move by Tesla isn’t simply about providing more charging stations; it’s about pushing the boundaries of design and engineering. It’s about proving that efficiency doesn’t have to be sacrificed for functionality. In an era where space is premium, Tesla’s approach sends a clear message about the company’s commitment to innovation.
The V4 Supercharging expansion is just the beginning. With its eye on both the macro expansion across countries and the micro attention to design details, Tesla is crafting a roadmap that others are likely to follow.
Music and motorcycles are two cultural symbols that are seldom seen together, yet they are inseparably connected for many riders. Jürgen Becker, a motorcycle designer, has found a way to translate the electrifying beat of rock and roll into an actual electric motorcycle, naming it after Jimi Hendrix’s legendary album, “Electric Ladyland.”
The Electric Bike features a 10 Kilowatt Electric Motor that can help you hit 62 miles per hour
Becker’s creation is more than a novelty. It’s a fusion of the classic and the contemporary, merging the spirit of the ’60s with the future of eco-friendly transportation. Starting with a 1955 Minsk M1A—a relic abandoned by the Red Army—the transformation into Electric Ladyland tells a unique tale of preservation and innovation.
While maintaining the original aesthetics, Becker replaced the traditional engine with a lightweight, 10-kilowatt electric motor. Hitting a top speed of 62 miles per hour, the bike’s energy comes from a creatively designed battery compartment that mimics vintage electronics. This blend of old and new extends to the dashboard, where modern blue backlit indicators meet classic fuel tank housing.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Electric Ladyland is the integration of music into its very design. The connector plug from a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar links the electronics with the battery pack, paying homage to the musical inspiration behind the project.
The bike’s nearly untouched appearance, from the patina of the 1955 Minsk to the wire-spoke wheels, resonates with the timeless feel of the rock era. Electric Ladyland represents not just a custom motorcycle but a ride into the soul of rock music, a journey that celebrates history, embraces the present, and looks forward to a greener future.
