In a conversation with Autocar, McLaren Automotive CEO Michael Leiters emphasized that their approach won’t be about wild power numbers. He stressed that their goal is to control the weight penalty often associated with battery-powered vehicles, saying, “We don’t want to make a car that is 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) and 2,000 hp.” Leiters further emphasized that the company’s intention is to produce a zero-emission hypercar, similar in weight to the remarkable 750S, which weighs just 1,277 kg (2,815 lbs).

This innovative direction sets McLaren apart from rivals like Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista, and Lotus Evija, all of which boast power in excess of 1,900 hp and considerably higher weight. Porsche‘s upcoming Mission X is also in the game but is yet to disclose full details.

Though McLaren could design an all-electric P1, internal studies show that customers aren’t demanding EVs just yet. The popularity of models like the 750S demonstrates that internal combustion engines (ICE) are still highly sought after, even as some enthusiasts show interest in pure electric performance cars.

During this pivotal transition period from ICE to EV, McLaren plans to introduce plug-in hybrid models based on a new V8 engine. Positioned above Artura’s V6 PHEV setup, these models will bridge the gap as the company meticulously shapes its electrified future.

Reports have claimed that the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro will launch on September 1st globally. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Kacper Skrzypek, has appeared today to reveal the camera specifications of the Xiaomi 13T Pro. The leak suggests that the 13T Pro will be a tweaked version of the Redmi K60 Ultra, which debuted yesterday in China.

Instead of the 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras available on the Redmi flagship, the 13T Pro will offer an OmniVision OV13B ultra-wide camera and an OV50D 50-megapixel telephoto camera.

The rest of the specs of the 13T Pro are likely to be the same as those of the Redmi K60 Ultra. Hence, the 13T Pro is expected to feature a 6.67-inch OLED display that offers a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It will run on the Android 13 operating system and MIUI 14.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 13T Pro will arrive with the Dimensity 9200 Plus chip, up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It will house a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging. The 13T Pro is also expected to come with other features, such as a dedicated display chip, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor, and an IP68-rated chassis. We recently got to know that Gigabyte is working on the revision of the popular M27QX gaming monitor. Now, the brand has also revealed that it will soon be launching a new curved monitor in the market called the Gigabyte GS34WQC.

The Gigabyte GS34WQC curved monitor offers a sizable 34-inch panel with 1500R curvature. It has a 3440 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution VA panel that comes with an anti-glare coating on the surface, ensuring clear visuals without unwanted reflections.

The monitor boasts a wide color gamut covering 120% sRGB of the sRGB spectrum. The brightness can go up to 300 nits and the contrast ratio is 4000:1. While being a VA panel, it still offers a wide viewing angle of 178°(H)/178°(V) ensuring clear visuals from various angles.

In addition to that, the monitor is also suitable for gaming as it comes with a quick 1ms (MPRT) response time along with a 120Hz refresh rate, that can be further over-clocked up to 135Hz. The monitor is HDR Ready, enhancing the dynamic range and visual depth. Flicker-free technology and HBR3 compatibility contribute to a comfortable viewing experience.

Xpeng X9 New Photos Out: A Fresh Look Without the ‘Squinty’ Lights

Xpeng Motors has been teasing its upcoming Xpeng X9 SUV for a few months now, and the latest spy shots reveal some design elements. The upcoming vehicle still has the usual Xpeng design on the front. But, the big change is in the headlights. The X9 will have a more traditional headlight design, with larger, round headlights that are separated by a wider grille.

This new design is much more in line with the rest of the Xpeng lineup, and it should help to make the X9 look more premium. At the back, the X9 has a full-length tail light, matching the front light. The back bumper has a special Xpeng look and fits smoothly with the rest of the car, making it look sleek.

Word is, the X9 might be longer than 5.5 meters and almost as wide as 2.3 meters. He Xiaopeng, the CEO of Xpeng Motors, says the X9 is their way of reaching out to younger buyers. We’re still waiting for more details about what’s under the hood. But with all this buzz, everyone’s excited to see how the X9 will do when it hits the streets.
