We already know that Apple is shifting to the USB Type-C standard for its upcoming iPhone 15 lineup. However, it is not all good news, as the company appears to be making sure that only a certified data cable will be properly supported.
Apple iPhone 15 USB-C will be limited in functionality
For those unaware, the Cupertino based giant is shifting to USB-C over its existing Lightning port to comply with the new regulations from the European Union. Now, known tipster Majin Bu shared a bunch of images that reveal certain charging components of the upcoming iPhone 15. Looking at the images, a new chipset can be seen, which is labeled as the 3LD3 chip.
The component will likely allow the upcoming iPhone 15 models to verify and distinguish between an Apple-certified cable and other third-party adapters. Apart from the verification process, the brand may also be planning to limit certain functionalities with this chip. Another known tipster ShrimpApplePro claimed that the third-party cables will have limitations in data and charging speeds.
In other words, non-certified cables won’t offer the full benefits of the new port changes. Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone 15 series next month, with the new A17 Bionic, thinner bezels, titanium frame, and a heftier price tag. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a popular video game from Square Enix. Fans of the Final Fantasy series loved it when it came out in 2020. The game sold really well on PlayStation 4 and got a good score of 8/10 from IGN. Fans of Xbox were hopeful because of a recent post by Xbox Brazil, but it seems the game won’t be coming to Xbox after all.
The Twitter post, which was deleted soon after, showed an image with the message, “um feliz dia dos pais para todas as familias!” wishing all their followers a happy Father’s Day. Where Barret Wallace, a Final Fantasy VII character, can be seen along with other father figure characters. This made the Xbox console owners think that they would be able to play Final Fantasy VII in the near future. For those unaware, this game was released exclusively on PlayStation temporarily and, later, on PC but not on Xbox. After realizing their error, XboxBR deleted the post. A Microsoft spokesperson made a statement to Eurogamer saying the image was posted in error and removed as it included a title not available on Xbox.
However, as the game is currently available on two platforms, PlayStation and PC, this would be a perfect time to introduce the Final Fantasy VII remake on Xbox. We will have to wait for Square Enix to make an official announcement.
The Realme GT 5 is expected to debut soon in China. As the smartphone launch draws near, a few new leaks have emerged online, one of which is that the phone may come in two battery variants, each offering a different charging capability. Now, a new Weibo post from Xu Qi (President of Realme) has revealed that the smartphone will come with up to 24 GB of RAM.
The post mentioned that the upcoming GT 5 has entered the 24GB memory era to improve the user experience. For those unaware, the previous GT series came with up to 16GB RAM. The Realme GT 5 is not the first smartphone to come with 24GB RAM, as Xiaomi and Red Magic have already launched the Redmi K60 Ultra and the Red Magic 8S Pro with up to 24GB RAM. Additionally, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, which is scheduled to launch tomorrow, will also have up to 24GB RAM onboard. If you’re unsure whether you really need 24GB of RAM on your smartphone, you can see what we think about it by clicking this link.
Other than that, the post has also confirmed that the GT 5 will come with an actual “Killer Feature” that will unlock the large memory to the extreme. This is likely the virtual RAM feature, which was introduced with Android 12. We’ve heard some leaked information about the possible key features of the GT 5.
The device is speculated to come with two different battery variants: the 4600mAh, which will support 240W fast charging, and the 5200mAh which will support 150W fast charging. Under the hood, the device is said to be powered by SnapDragon 8 Gen 2 with available storage of up to 1TB. The device might be equipped with a 6.74-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K Resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.
Maybe MelGeek realized that all their previous keyboards are a bit higher priced, so they released this one: the Modern97, for only $139. After I’ve been using it for a while, I think it’s really worth the price. For those who don’t know how to build a custom mechanical keyboard, the Modern97 can be your first high-end keyboard.
Unboxing
MelGeek Modern97 comes with a nice package. The material of the package is renewable and biodegradable, so it is very friendly to the environment. The packaging is very minimalistic, representing the Harmony of Nature and Urban Life design philosophy. Plus it’s just the right size, so if you don’t want to spend $10 for its dust cover, using this lid instead is just perfect.
Underneath the keyboard is a Quick Guide, a small card with all the instructions on how to use the Modern97. Let’s take away the Quick Guide and the warranty card, at the bottom are all its accessories. From left to right are the Keycap Puller, Switch Puller, 8 Replacement Keycaps, Type-C Cable, and 2.4G Dongle.
Design
Not to mention that the Mojo series and the Pixel from Melgeek are among the top in the industry for design, the Modern97 as MelGeek’s cheapest keyboard, however, still has something unique and impressive to it. The combination of the Ink dot upper shell and the thread matte transparent bottom shell gives the keyboard a bit of a “Zen Style”.
This Ocean version comes in a blue, white, and yellow color scheme, the three icons on the bottom represent PRODUCTIVITY, SOCIAL, and GAME. there are a few parting lines centered on the side and back of the bottom shell, which is not very noticeable and difficult to find. Personally, I think Modern97 is very good in terms of design and build quality.
Layout & Weight
For a 90% layout keyboard, the Modern97 is pretty compact. there’s not a single gap between the Arrow key, num pad, and typewriter key, making the entire keyboard significantly shorter. It does save space, though you’ll have to get used to it for a while. It has three connection methods: 2.4G, Bluetooth, or wired. During the time testing this keyboard, there was no problem with the keyboard waking up again, and still has the first character typed when connected wirelessly.
The Modern97 weighs 990g, it’s not light, but it’s a good thing for a keyboard that doesn’t sell itself on portability, instead, you get a keyboard stuffed with sound-absorbing material and a large battery.
Keycap
The Modern97 uses the MCR keycap profile. it’s a MelGeek original profile that is similar in size to the Cherry profile but slightly taller. There’s really not much difference in use though, and with the wrist rest, they’re both quite comfortable.
There aren’t too many drawbacks to this set of Double-shot ABS keycaps, the characters are neatly aligned and there’s no light transmission. The colors are bright and uniform, and the only thing you need to worry about is that they get worn gradually in long-term use. This is a common problem with ABS keycaps by the way.
Switches & Sound test
The three switches available for the Modern97 are all from Kailh. our choice is the Kailh Sonic53, it’s a linear switch. let’s listen to the typing sound first.
As you can hear, I didn’t do any tuning to the Modern97, it’s just so thick as it is. the Sonic53’s sound is very satisfying to me, the multilayer foams fill up the gaps and there’s no clutter.
There is one small shortcoming in the typing experience though. The stability of the stem is not particularly good, It just so happens that we have all three switches, and once you compare them to the other two you can clearly see the difference. If you can’t live with it, then I recommend you go for the other two switches. Or change to your favorite switches on your own, it’s a hot-swappable keyboard anyway.
The Modern97 tries its best in other areas as well, such as using a Gasket mount and slotted PCBs as well. we’re all familiar with the Gasket mount, so we won’t go in depth. the fact that MelGeek uses slotted PCBs on their cheapest keyboard is something I didn’t expect.
This gives the Modern97 a more flexible typing feel. It’s not the softest gasket mount keyboard we’ve ever seen, but you can see how much it sinks, which means it works perfectly. Kailh’s switches and stabilizers are factory pre-lubed, and every press is very smooth. I think the Modern97 is already at the top of its price range in terms of typing experience.
MelGeek Hive & Battery Life
MelGeek has its own keyboard software called MelGeek Hive, everything you want Modern97 to do for you, this software can bring you the best results. For example custom key values, custom shortcuts, macro, and changing the backlit colors. There are thousands of color schemes to choose from, and thanks to the white foams and the transparent plate, the backlight doesn’t fade, and it looks bright and pure.
In MelGeek Hive, you can even monitor the battery status, such as temperature and health level. With a battery management system, the 4000mAh Modern97 can be used for 1900 hours in 2.4G Power saving mode with all lights off. That means even if I use it for 8 hours a day, it will last almost 8 months without charging. If you switch to a Bluetooth connection then you won’t need to charge it for a year, that’s pretty impressive.
For gamers, you can also quickly switch to performance mode on the home page, then the response speed will be increased to 1000Hz. And this keyboard has an N-key Rollover mode. I have to say, the MelGeek Hive and battery life are the biggest surprise for me in Modern97.
Conclusion
Let me summarize the advantages of MelGeek Modern97. First, it looks good. Like other MelGeek keyboards, it looks unique. Second, the thock. It doesn’t need any tuning but still sounds amazing. Third, it’s a 90% layout keyboard. those who like num pads and function keys will be happy about it.
The Fourth is the super long battery life. It’s one of the few keyboards that doesn’t need to be recharged for up to a year. Last, there are almost no drawbacks to this keyboard that I can’t live with. The only switch stability issue can be solved by utilizing the other two switches, not a big deal. I think it definitely worth the $139 price tag.
Where to buy
You now can get the MelGeek Modern97 at the official site for $139, just click HERE.

India is one of the world’s top tech markets. Many brands compete fiercely there to sell more products and outdo their rivals. Some companies even set up India-focused sub-brands, like Realme and Poco, to get ahead in the race. But India’s significance isn’t just about sales numbers. Big companies like Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Qualcomm use India for manufacturing. This seems to work well for the country. Because in 2022, India assembled 2 billion smartphones, and 98% of them were for local customers. Here are the details…
India Emerges as a Global Tech Powerhouse
Before we talk about India’s achievements in smartphones, let’s understand what a current account deficit is. It’s when a country spends more on buying things from other countries than it earns from selling its own stuff to them. This can be risky. One way to fix this is to make more things, especially high-value tech products. And that’s exactly what India did with smartphones.
India recognizes the importance of technology and has been investing in it for a long time. The country is keen on attracting foreign investors and offers various incentives to lure manufacturers. After the shift of production from China due to Covid-19, India’s position in Asia has become even stronger. Now, it’s clear that the country has become a major player in the global smartphone market.
According to recent data from Counterpoint, from 2014 to 2022, India made and sent out 2 billion of its own smartphones. Moreover, it took India just two years to assemble the last 500 million smartphones This big step matches the “Make in India” plan that started in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The change is huge. In 2014, only 19% of phones were made in India, but by 2022, it was 98%.
Production is still increasing. We often tell you about technology companies investing in India. For example, we recently mentioned that Foxconn, which makes iPhones for Apple, will invest $600 million in India and create 13,000 new jobs. As such events increase, production in the country is expected to grow even more.
Despite the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch being months away, rumors have already started surfacing regarding the upcoming flagship smartphones. And now, a fresh leak has revealed interesting details regarding the top-end model, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. So let’s have a look.
Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra sports a new & improved display
The leak was shared by known tipster Ice Universe who shared the information on X (formerly Twitter). Looking at the tweet, he stated that he can confirm that the Galaxy S24 Ultra model finally received notable upgrades in the display. Unfortunately, the tipster did not reveal any finer details regarding these said improvements, so the upgrades or possible new features are still unclear.
The tweet from Ice Universe is in line with our previous report. The South Korean tech giant will reportedly ship the Galaxy S24 Ultra with a new and improved M13 OLED material. This M13 OLED is likely an upgraded panel over its predecessor, which is the M12 and M11. The former is expected to be featured on the iPhone 15 while the latter is found on the existing Galaxy S23 lineup.
In other words, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a true upgrade over the current-gen Galaxy S23 Ultra. Some of the possible improvements might include overall brightness, which may cross 2,000 nits at peak. The panel could also offer better energy efficiency, helping in keeping the battery drain low. Keep in mind that this is still just speculation at the moment, so take this news with a pinch of salt.
Samsung has been busy with the release of the One UI 6.0 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series. However, they have also been releasing monthly security patches for their other devices. The latest August 2023 security patches is now available for two Samsung mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A04s and Galaxy A52s. This update does not include any new features or additions to the One UI, but it is an important security patch.
Samsung Galaxy A04s, Galaxy A52s receives August security patch update
Samsung has released the August 2023 security patch for the Galaxy A04s in several countries, including the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Paraguay, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago, and Panama.
Users in these regions can download the update by going to Settings> Software update> Download and Install. The August firmware version for the Galaxy A04s update is A047MUBS4CWG1.
The Galaxy A52s has also received the August 2023 security patch in Austria, Nordic countries, Luxembourg, Switzerland, South-East Europe, and Hungary. The firmware version for the A52s update is A528BXXS4EWGB.
These updates do not include the highly anticipated One UI 6.0 update. But both the Galaxy A04s and A52s are eligible for the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update, which is expected to be released at a later date, possibly next year.
Samsung releases monthly security patches for all of its devices, from budget to flagship. These patches may not be as exciting as new features, but they are essential for protecting your device from malware and other threats. So it’s important to keep your device up to date with the latest security patches.
Xiaomi recently launched its highly anticipated Mix Fold 3 foldable smartphone. While the excitement for the newest foldable is still going strong, news about Xiaomi’s next flagship phone has already started to surface.
One of the most impressive features of the Mix Fold 3 is its dual telephoto lens combination, which includes a 3.2x portrait lens and a 5x periscope telephoto lens. Now, a digital blogger has revealed that Xiaomi 14 will also be equipped with the same dual telephoto combination.
That means, Xiaomi 14 will be equipped with two periscope telephoto lenses, one with a focal length of 75 mm and one with a focal length of 115mm. This will allow for up to 5 times optical zoom.
Xiaomi 13
Moreover, the device is rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform. The SoC is expected to be manufactured by TSMC and it will have a 1+5+2 core architecture, with one large core, five medium cores, and two small cores. This will be an upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which has a 1+4+3 core architecture.
The extra large core and the reduced small core will make the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 the most powerful Snapdragon 5G mobile platform to date. Besides this, the device is rumored to have a larger battery and fast charging at 4860mAh and 120W, respectively.
The Xiaomi 14 series is speculated to be priced similarly to the Xiaomi 13 series. That means, Xiaomi 14’s price could start at around 3999 yuan (about $625) for the 8GB+128GB variant.
Honor has recently launched the Honor Magic V2 foldable phone in China. Apart from the Magic V2, the company has also launched the Honor Magic Vs and Magic V foldable phones in the past. All of Honor’s foldable phones launched so far have an inward folding design. However, a new development reveals that the brand could be working on its first foldable phone with an outward folding design.
Honor VCA-AN00 receives CMIIT certification
Honor VCA-AN00 CMIIT certification
As shown in the screenshot below, an Honor smartphone identified by the model number VCA-AN00 has emerged within China’s MIIT certification database. Information from a Chinese leaker reveals that the acronym “VCA” corresponds to the internal codename of the device, known as “Victoria.”
As per a previous leak, the device could be called the Honor Magic V Slim when it arrives in the market. The device is expected to break cover in October this year.
Notably, the market offers limited options for smartphones featuring an outward folding design. In fact, aside from Huawei, no major Chinese smartphone manufacturers have introduced a device with this specific folding mechanism. Huawei’s Mate Xs 2,, unveiled in May 2022, stands as the most recent example of a smartphone offering outward folding design.
According to previous reports, the company may launch two more smartphones, such as the Honor 100 GT and the Honor X50 GT. These devices are expected to replace last year’s Honor 80 GT and Honor X40 GT.
Honor is also said to be working on its first clamshell phone with a foldable screen, dubbed as the Honor Magic Flip. The details of the device have not yet surfaced. The only thing that’s known about the device is that it will break cover in 2024.
Several reports have claimed that iQOO will launch the iQOO Z8 series of smartphones, such as the iQOO Z8 and the iQOO Z8x by the end of this month. However, a new leak claims that the Z8 will not launch this month. The leak has also revealed the RAM and storage details of what appears to be the top-of-the-line variant of the Z8.
iQOO Z8 launch timeframe, configuration (rumored)
According to the tipster Panda is Bald, the iQOO Z8 is slated for an early September release in China. Notably, the highest-tier version of the device is expected to provide users with 12 GB of RAM along with 512 GB of internal storage. For reference, the previous iteration, the Z7, which was launched earlier this year in China, offered a maximum configuration of 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
The tipster also shared key information about the color variants of the Z8. It appears that the phone will come in three shades: black, blue, and Isle of Man (green). The third color variant is expected to replace the orange version that was seen on the Z7 series.
According to other reports, the iQOO Z8 will arrive with a 6.64-inch IPS LCD panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. For security, it will have a side-facing fingerprint scanner and it will run on the OriginOS 3.0-based Android 13.
The iQOO Z8 was recently spotted on Geekbench with the Dimensity 8200 chip and 12GB of RAM. It is likely to house a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. For photography, the device will have a 64-megapixel main camera with OIS support. The other specs of the Z8 are yet to be revealed.
Mason City School District in Iowa (US) has a big job to do. A new law says they have to check all the books in their libraries. They must make sure none of the books have anything in them that’s not suitable for students’ ages. They also have to take out books that show or describe sexual acts.
The usage of AI for banning knowledge creates certain problems in the ethical side of things
This job is too big for people to do on their own. Bridgette Exman, who helps run the school district, said, “We have so many books, we can’t read them all to check for these things.”
So, the school district is using AI, or artificial intelligence, to help. They make a list of books that might have problems. Then they use computer software to check those books. The software can tell if there is anything not allowed in the book.
Exman explained that they have more important things to do than spend time trying to figure out what to do with books. But they must follow the law. Their main goal is to have a process that makes sense and is fair.
So far, the AI has found 19 books that may need to be removed. Some of these books are very well-known, like “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood and “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini.
This shows how AI can be used in different parts of our lives. But it also might make people wonder if it’s okay to use computers to make choices about what students can read. The way Mason City is doing things might make other places think about using AI in schools too. It could start a big talk all over the country about computers, rules, and learning.
McLaren is taking a deliberate and measured approach towards the future. The highly anticipated successor to the P1 won’t be arriving until closer to 2030, but when it does, it promises to redefine the McLaren DNA. Unlike other hypercars that focus on jaw-dropping power, McLaren’s forthcoming crown jewel will be an all-electric vehicle (EV), steering clear of a combustion engine. This approach aligns with industry trends, such as Porsche’s decision to replace the 918 Spyder with a pure EV.
McLaren also plans to introduce plug-in Hybrid Models based on V8 Engines
In a conversation with Autocar, McLaren Automotive CEO Michael Leiters emphasized that their approach won’t be about wild power numbers. He stressed that their goal is to control the weight penalty often associated with battery-powered vehicles, saying, “We don’t want to make a car that is 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) and 2,000 hp.” Leiters further emphasized that the company’s intention is to produce a zero-emission hypercar, similar in weight to the remarkable 750S, which weighs just 1,277 kg (2,815 lbs).
This innovative direction sets McLaren apart from rivals like Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista, and Lotus Evija, all of which boast power in excess of 1,900 hp and considerably higher weight. Porsche‘s upcoming Mission X is also in the game but is yet to disclose full details.
Though McLaren could design an all-electric P1, internal studies show that customers aren’t demanding EVs just yet. The popularity of models like the 750S demonstrates that internal combustion engines (ICE) are still highly sought after, even as some enthusiasts show interest in pure electric performance cars.
During this pivotal transition period from ICE to EV, McLaren plans to introduce plug-in hybrid models based on a new V8 engine. Positioned above Artura’s V6 PHEV setup, these models will bridge the gap as the company meticulously shapes its electrified future.
In summary, McLaren’s future may lie in electric power, but it won’t be a mad dash for horsepower. Instead, it’ll be a calculated journey towards balanced performance, aligning power and weight to create a vehicle true to the very DNA of McLaren. It’s an approach that underlines innovation without losing sight of what makes McLaren truly distinctive.
