Apple still has a lot of secret apps for Vision Pro in the works
The Vision Pro showcase at WWDC 2023 was impressive. We saw how the headset could be used for different applications, but it turns out that the event was originally planned to be even more spectacular. Apple had originally planned to show off a number of features that were not yet ready, include a Tai Chi app, a Nike workout app, a yoga app, games that require precision control, the ability to run Mac apps directly on the headset, and augmented or 3D Apple TV+ content.
Many of the health or fitness functions are on pause because they rely on full-body tracking, which isn’t working yet. Apple told developers that full-body tracking will be available when the device ships. In addition to software issues, there have also been hardware problems that have slowed down the development of the headset. For example, face cushions have been researched, but it’s not clear how they would have been used. The Vision Pro also lacks “brow cams,” which would have been used to more accurately depict a user’s facial expressions.
According to former team members at Apple, fitness was also removed from the demo because of other hardware concerns. I attended the media briefing for the Infinix Note 30 5G before its launch. During the briefing, I had the opportunity to learn more about the device. Additionally, I got to personally experience the Sunset Gold color variant of the phone, which incorporates a leather back. The tactile feel and overall user experience of the Sunset Gold version greatly impressed me. The phone comes in other options, such as Magic Black and Interstellar Blue. The Infinix Note 30 5G features a polycarbonate rear shell and frame, weighing 205 grams and measuring 8.8mm in thickness. The back panel of the device has a slight camera module bump, featuring three cameras and an LED flash with a subtle protrusion. Despite this, the design is well-balanced, and the camera bump does not result in any wobbling when the phone is placed on a flat surface.
It is an IP53-rated device, meaning that it offers a certain level of protection against dust ingress and water splashes, further enhancing its durability and reliability. Speaking of durability, the phone comes with NEG glass protection for the display.
Around the flat edges, the Infinix Note 30 5G features dual stereo speakers tuned by JBL, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Moving to the front, it features a punch-hole display, with a slightly thick chin. There is no secondary microphone on the top edge of the device.
The Infinix Note 30 5G features a massive 6.78-inch IPS LCD panel that offers an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. It comes with Widevine L1 support, ensuring a seamless streaming experience on popular OTT platforms. With the added advantage of dual stereo speakers, users can enjoy immersive audio and visual entertainment on the device. Since the screen offers up to 580 nits of brightness, it enhances outdoor visibility, allowing for comfortable usage even in brighter outdoor environments. The included screen guard falls short of completely covering the screen.

The Dimensity 6080, which is a 6nm chip, powers the Infinix Note 30 5G. The chip brings support for 14 5G bands to the device. The phone comes with LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, and a dedicated microSD card slot. The phone runs on XOS 13-based Android 13. It will receive one Android OS upgrade and two years of security patch updates.
The 4GB+128GB variant of the device offers up to 4 GB of virtual RAM, whereas its 8GB+256G edition offers up to 8 GB of virtual RAM. In terms of performance, I found the phone to be well-suited for daily tasks, including gaming. The review unit that I have has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Infinix Note 30 5G
The Note 30 5G packs a 5,000mAh dual-cell battery that supports 45W charging. According to the brand, the phone can go from 1 to 75 percent in just 30 minutes. In my test, it took 70 minutes to achieve a full charge. The Note 30 5G comes with a nifty Bypass Charging technology, which activates when the battery level reaches or exceeds the pre-set threshold (30 percent by default), diverting charging current directly to the motherboard. This feature reduces overheating during simultaneous charging and gameplay, resulting in a maximum temperature decrease of 7°C compared to regular charging. The Note 30 5G is the only phone to offer such a feature in its price segment.
The 10W reverse charging capabilities of the Note 30 5G allow users to use it like a powerbank to charge other devices like a smartwatch, TWS earbuds, or a smartphone. In addition, the phone supports the USB PD 3.0 charging protocol. According to Infinix, the 5,000mAh battery of the Note 30 5G retains 80 precent of its original capacity even after 1,000 charge and discharge cycles. This performance surpasses the industry standard of 800 cycles, equivalent to approximately 3 years of regular daily charging.
During extended gaming sessions lasting approximately 45 minutes, the device experiences a slight increase in temperature. This is where Bypass Charging proves beneficial, allowing the device to be charged while gaming without causing overheating. In terms of gaming performance, the device can comfortably handle HD settings, although it may not deliver the smoothest experience on graphics-intensive games.
The OS experience is the usual affair as seen on other mid-range Infinix phones. There are several preloaded apps onboard and only a handful of them can be uninstalled. Thankfully, there are no intrusive notifications. The XOS 13 is user-friendly, smooth, and has plenty of features. However, I hope the brand de-clutters the experience in the future iteration of the XOS.
Here is a look at the phone’s performance on benchmarking apps:
Sitting on the front is a 16-megapixel front-facing camera flanked by dual-LED flash units. On the back, the device is equipped with a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, an AI lens, and a quad-LED flash unit. If I am not mistaken, the Note 30 5G is the most affordable smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera. Some of the photography features available onboard include street photography filters, a super night scene filter, sky remapping, film mode, and dual-view video.

In well-lit conditions, the primary camera of Note 30 5G performs admirably, capturing images in a default resolution of 12.5-megapixel. These images exhibit a decent dynamic range and contain a good amount of detail. The main camera also impresses in indoor shots as well as low-light environments with the Super Night mode. While this mode significantly enhances the quality of shots in challenging lighting conditions, it does require a few seconds to capture an image.

The selfie camera performance of Note 30 5G is somewhat lacking, with occasional issues of softness and a lack of detail in the selfie shots. When taking selfies at night, there is some noticeable noise, although the Super Night Mode feature improves the quality to some degree. To assist in capturing better shots in low-light environments, the device is equipped with a dual-LED flash unit to provide adequate lighting for the subject. In summary, the Note 30 5G pleasantly surprises with its impressive performance in the photography department, without excessive hype from the company.
Some of the other features worth mentioning on the device include a dedicated microSD card slot and NFC connectivity, which can be used for contactless payments at POS terminals.
Verdict
The Infinix Note 30 5G excels in multiple areas, boasting impressive features such as rapid charging, a high refresh rate display, a capable primary camera, and a decent design. While I personally would have preferred the inclusion of an AMOLED screen, it’s understandable that this might have resulted in a higher price point. Nonetheless, the device stands out as a formidable competitor among 5G smartphones in the Rs 15,000 (~$182) price range. Moreover, the Axis bank offer price, which reduces the price of the device to Rs 13,999 (~$170) further enhances its value proposition, making it an enticing choice for budget-conscious consumers.

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is the first-ever smartphone with a Retractable Portrait Lens. The Phantom X2 Pro which was announced by Tecno in January this year, has now undergone the JerryRigEverything durability tests. The results from the grueling stress tests on the premium Tecno smartphone are however not flattering.
JerryRigEverything has become a gold standard for determining the durability of any smartphone. It helps to shed off all the hype about a device and provides a barebone assessment. The conclusion from the durability tests for the Phantom X2 Pro may indicate that the smartphone’s supposedly ground-breaking design may be a ruse. The JerryRigEverything host, Zach Nelson noted that the portrait photography use-case of the smartphone requires a secondary depth-sensing camera. This was also indicated in the phone’s UI. In addition, the motor that moves the retractable lens was observed to be easily inhibited by a human finger.
The Phantom X2 Pro rear panel, made from 48% reclaimed ocean plastic was discovered to easily attract sticky materials. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The X2 Pro comes with a Gorilla Glass Victus screen and a metallic mid-frame. These enabled the Phantom X2 Pro to come unscathed in the scratch, bend, and burn tests.

The Thomus TWINNER T11 Pro electric bicycle has been unveiled. The new S-Pedelec e-bike has a carbon frame and can reach a top speed of 45km/h. Its 1,638Wh battery offers smart charging. There are optional features that can be added to the e-bike including a rearview camera and heated handlebars.
The TWINNER T11 Pro e-bike has a Transverse Flux motor with 70Nm torque. The electric motor is fitted to the rear wheel of the bike and it can achieve a top speed of 45km/h in just 3.6 seconds. It has a 12-speed Pinion gearbox and its integrated control unit on the handlebar allows for shifting gears. Thomus says that the bike’s 1,638Wh battery is the largest on the market. Its carbon frame, fork, handlebar, and wheels help to deliver a lighter e-bike at 32.2kg.
The Thomus TWINNER T11 Pro is equipped with bright front and rear lights for easy visibility at night. The T11 Pro e-bike also features a built-in 3.5-inch display between the handlebars which shows ride information on the go. Using the TWINNER Smart Hub, you can connect your phone to the bike and easily track the bike’s location.
The TWINNER T11 Pro can be ordered directly from Thomus with a starting price of $10,915 or its equivalent in Euros. Color options for the bike are black satin, white satin, Petrol Blue, and Ice Blue.
Thomus plans to launch 100 units of a Founders Edition of the TWINNER T11 Pro e-bike. The company has already opened a register for the custom edition model on its website. The price of the Founders Edition model has not been stated.

According to official notes, the team behind it had made over 20 design concepts, most of which were rejected by manufacturing partners as they were difficult to produce. Te brand also added that the cable with the transparent design took an overall development time of 2 years, which included the designing process and the materials.
Nothing Phone (2)’s charger uses an industry first molding technique to create an iron shell body that has no defects. To achieve this, the company had to stretch the material four times by annealing it at more than 1,000 degrees three times. All of this was done to get a design that was seamless with no lines or surface defects on the body. The shell is also pre-plated and sandblasted, with an electroless plating process helping in keep the surface scratch free.
Nothing made sure its cable passed through over 25 tests to ensure resistance and durability to the environment around us. This cable was even teased for being able to withstand bending more than 16,000 times, which is more than 60 percent higher than the general industry standards.

Vivo has launched a new Y-series smartphone in India. It is the Vivo Y36 4G. The device had debuted in Indonesia last month. The Vivo Y36 4G has a 6.44-inch LCD screen with a waterdrop notch. It features an FHD+ display resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 650 nits peak brightness. Design-wise, the back panel has a squarish camera module and the power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.
On the imaging front, the Vivo Y36 4G dual rear camera setup comprises a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP macro lens. There is a 16MP front-facing snapper for selfies.
Under the hood, the Vivo Y36 4G is equipped with a Snapdragon 680 processor. It packs 8GB RAM along with 8GB virtual RAM technology. There is 128GB onboard storage expandable up to 1TB via microSD card slot. The smartphone draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 44W fast charging. Software-wise, it runs on Android 13 OS out of the box.

Samsung is making preparations for an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event expected to take place towards the end of July. According to leaked information, this event will showcase several devices, including the highly anticipated Galaxy Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Tab S9 series, and Watch 6 series. Recently, there were leaked renders of the Galaxy Tab S9 tablets, but they were subsequently removed due to a formal request from Samsung. Twitter user Ahmed Qwaider has revealed some key changes coming to the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup. According to Ahmed, Samsung has opted to equip the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 series with Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, departing from the LCD and Super AMOLED panels seen in the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup. This transition to Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays is expected to offer enhanced contrast ratios and HDR functionality compared to the previous LCD and Super AMOLED screens.
Despite the display upgrade, all models within the Galaxy Tab S9 series will retain the 120 Hz refresh rates seen in their predecessors. Additionally, the tablet sizes are rumored to include an 11-inch display for the Galaxy Tab S9, a 12.4-inch display for the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, and a 14.6-inch display for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
According to recent leaks, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 series is expected to introduce a battery capacity upgrade for the entry-level model. E-commerce giant Amazon has also put up a microsite of the upcoming offerings revealing its full specifications.
Both the Motorola Razr 40 and 40 Ultra are clamshell foldable phones. The Ultra model is a more premium offering among the two. Both devices can be used in multiple ways and angles. They feature a 6.9-inch internal screen with a 165Hz and 144Hz refresh rate on vanilla and ultra models respectively. There is a 32MP selfie snapper. Despite rumors and reports circulating online, there was no sign of Apple planning on unveiling a new entry in its iPhone SE series this year. And now, it appears that there won’t be a new iPhone SE model arriving next year either.
Apple could have halted iPhone SE 4 development
The information arrives from Barclay analysts who were apparently in contact with the Cupertino based giant’s supply chain. Their report stated that the iPhone maker has been working on developing their own 5G modem. In other words, the company is looking to move away from buying 5G modems made by Qualcomm for their future iPhone models as well as other products.
However, this report implies that the brand has no plans to launch a new iPhone SE model anytime soon. Earlier this year, we covered a report that hinted at the iPhone SE 4 launching in 2024 with an OLED display and Apple’s proprietary 5G chipset. But the latest information hints otherwise, with the iPhone SE model likely not launching in 2024 either since the 5G chipset will only enter mass production by 2025, according to known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In other words, a new iPhone SE model will launch in the same year as the iPhone 16, which is nearly two years away as of right now. For those unaware, the iPhone SE arrives as the company’s compact flagship phone and has an affordable price tag compared to its main line premium entries. The last model launched back in 2022 and it seems that fans of this series might have to wait two whole years for its successor.
