This makes it a good choice for those who work in harsh environments or enjoy outdoor activities.

Sleeekness meets ruggedness as the Ulefone Note 16 Pro gets launched starting at $139.99

The Ulefone Note 16 Pro runs on the latest Android 13 OS. This means that users can enjoy the latest features and security updates.

AI in the wrong hands: Microsoft economist warns of dangers when misused by bad actors

Microsoft’s Chief Economist Michael Schwarz has issued a warning at the World Economic Forum about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence in the hands of bad actors. He emphasized that the misuse of AI could cause real destruction and that people should be more concerned about AI being exploited by bad actors rather than AI’s productivity surpassing humans.

The dark side of AI

Schwarz raised concerns about individuals attempting to disrupt elections and the use of AI by “spam email senders” that could cause significant damage. The disinformation brought by AI, he believes, could be even more frightening than unemployment.

While Schwarz called for AI to be regulated, he also cautioned lawmakers to wait until the technology causes “real harm” before taking action. He reminded people that destruction is much easier than construction, indicating that regulations should be carefully considered to avoid stifling innovation.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has previously emphasized the importance of AI’s development, comparing it to the development of other game-changing technologies such as the internet and mobile phones.

Microsoft’s recent AI advancements show great promise with the unveiling of third-party plugin support for Bing AI and the planned sale of a secure private version of ChatGPT to businesses.

However, the warning from Microsoft’s Chief Economist Michael Schwarz underscores the need for responsible and secure AI use. As AI continues to evolve, businesses must consider the potential risks and invest in secure alternatives like ChatGPT to ensure the technology’s responsible use and overall benefits for society.

OnePlus Foldable to launch in August this year

Foldable smartphones have begun to attract consumer attention. According to a report, 28% of US smartphone users are likely to choose a foldable device for their next purchase. With the market broadening, no brand wants to be left in the dust. This year, we witnessed several newcomers entering this unconventional category, including Tecno. And Google is also ready to unleash the Pixel Fold on May 10. Now rumor has it that OnePlus will also join the party by launching its first foldable as early as August.

OnePlus Foldable will go against Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5?

Max Jambor claims on Twitter that OnePlus will unveil its first foldable smartphone in August. The leaker did not share any specific date, however, the company confirmed during MWC 2023 that it indeed plans to launch a folding-screen smartphone sometime later in 2023. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also expected to launch around the same time.

OnePlus foldable launch soon

“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.” said Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus at the event.

Currently, the details about the OnePlus foldable are pretty scarce. Some rumors claim it will be a rebranded Oppo Find N2, while others say it will be an entirely new device. Our money is on the latter. It makes sense for OnePlus to enter the category with a unique device or else it won’t make much difference to the consumers.

That being said, it’s worth noting that the Oppo Find N2 is already getting positive attention, thanks to its impressive hinge and form factor. OnePlus might just take a cue or two from its design prowess.

Poco announces MIUI 14 Update for Poco F4 GT, F3, X3 GT and 8 More phones

Poco phones offer excellent hardware at an affordable price, and the company also performs well in the software department. However, similar to its parent company Xiaomi, Poco is not particularly efficient at releasing software updates. Recently, the flagship Poco F4 received the Android 13-based update in India, but it was quite delayed. Now, the company has announced MIUI 14 for several other phones in the global market, including the Poco F4 GT, Poco F3, Poco X3 GT, and more.

More Poco phones getting Android 13 update

Poco has been slowly updating some of its phones with MIUI 14 and today the brand has announced the list of phones that will get the latest update. As per the company, 11 smartphones will be receiving the MIUI 14 update globally in this quarter. These include:

  • POCO F2 Pro
  • POCO F3
  • POCO F4
  • POCO F4 GT
  • POCO M3
  • POCO M4 5G
  • POCO M5
  • POCO X3 GT
  • POCO X3 NFC
  • POCO X3 Pro
  • POCO X4 GT
Poco MIUI 14

Some of the devices mentioned above have already received the MIUI 14 update based on Android 13 in various regions. For example, the Poco F3 received the update in March, and the F2 Pro received it shortly after. Additionally, the Poco F4 in India is also running MIUI 14. However, the company has now announced a global rollout, which means that these devices will soon start receiving the update widely.

It is worth mentioning that while these handsets will receive MIUI 14, it does not necessarily mean that the update will be based on Android 13. Some users have reported receiving MIUI 14 updates based on Android 12. A similar situation occurred with Redmi Note 12 Pro phones, where Redmi released an outdated version of Android.

Lava Agni 2 5G back panel image reveals circular camera module with multiple cutouts

Lava has announced that it has a new phone planned to launch on May 10 called the Lava Agni 2 5G. The device will be the successor of the Agni 5G which launched back in 2021. Ahead of the launch, tipster Abhishek Yadav has shown what the back of the Agni 2 5G will look like.

Lava Agni 2 5G back panel: another circular camera module

Abhishek, a reliable source of leaks, has shared an image of the back panel of an upcoming Android smartphone, which suggests that the device will have a curved back design and a circular camera module. Until recently, boxy designs were all the rage for premium and mid-range devices. However, it seems that circular camera modules are becoming the new trend in the Android smartphone industry, with many recently released or upcoming devices sporting this style of camera setup. Notable examples include the Oppo Find X6 and the upcoming Realme 11 series.

That being said, the Lava Agni 2 5G is shaping up to be a decent mid-range device as it is confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip. It is said that this chip is a refreshed version of the Dimensity 1080 which is featured in devices like the Realme 10 series and the Redmi Note 12 Pro.

Other that that, there is also some additional information available on the Lava Agni 2 5G. As per a recent leak, the upcoming Lava Agni 2 5G smartphone is expected to have a price tag of less than ₹25,000. The device will boast a 120Hz AMOLED display, and will feature a 50MP primary camera with OIS support, alongside a 16MP front-facing camera. Running on the Android operating system, the phone will pack a powerful 5,000mAh battery, with fast charging support of up to 44W.

Oppo F23 5G Could Launch Soon in India as Key Details Emerge

Oppo’s mediocre mid-range phones have colored India in green and the brand continues to expand its portfolio. A recent report revealed the Chinese company is gearing up to announce the new Oppo F23 Pro 5G in India on May 15 with a Snapdragon 695 processor. Now, a popular tipster claims the company will also be launching the vanilla Oppo F23 5G soon. While there’s no official confirmation, the tipster also shared some key details.

Oppo F23 5G packs decent Cameras and Fast charging

Noted tipster Mukul Sharma claims standard Oppo F23 5G will launch soon in India. Further, Sharma revealed the smartphone will be offered in gold and black colors with at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The company may announce other storage versions as well. Additionally, the device is tipped to get a triple camera setup on the rear, headlined by a 64MP primary sensor. It will also get two 2MP shooters. For selfies, the device may feature a 32MP shooter on the front.

OPPO-F21-Pro
Oppo F21 Pro

Sharma says the Oppo F23 5G will support 67W fast charging and we expect it to get a 5,000mAh battery. Other details about the handset are still under wraps. However, the same tipster previously told 91Mobiles that Oppo F23 Pro 5G will make its debut in India on May 15 so we can expect the vanilla model to arrive on the same date. To remind you, the Pro model will succeed the Oppo F21 Pro 5G that debuted back in 2021, whose detailed review can be found here.

The F23 5G is likely to be another mid-range smartphone from Oppo that will feature a good-looking design and good enough cameras. The handset could get an underwhelming processor, like the Snapdragon 695 or something even worse. Also, we don’t expect the device to be very affordable.

Microsoft Unveils Third-Party Plugin Support for Bing AI

AI technologies keep growing and becoming more common. While people expect Google to make a big move in the AI market led by OpenAI, Microsoft is the company catching up the fastest. Those who follow tech news aren’t surprised because Microsoft has been working on AI technologies for a while. Therefore, we are not surprised that Bing Chat has reached this point so quickly. It seems that the company is satisfied with its progress and is preparing to take the situation a few steps further, as Microsoft unveils third-party plugin support for Bing AI. Here are the details…

Developers Embrace New Opportunities as Microsoft Introduces Third-Party Plugins for Bing AI

Many people use artificial intelligence chatbots to simplify their daily tasks or for entertainment purposes, but their potential goes far beyond that. Moreover, when you add third-party plugin support to this potential, we can say that the sky is the limit. Microsoft did exactly that with Bing AI. The company announced upcoming features and enhancements to Bing Chat aimed at providing an improved user experience. One of the most significant updates is the introduction of third-party plugin support. So, what is third-party plugin support?

Bing AI chatbot

Third-party plugin support in AI chatbots enables the incorporation of additional features and tools created by independent developers. By integrating these plugins, chatbot platforms can expand their capabilities, offer better services, and interact with various systems. This not only helps chatbot creators meet the unique needs of their users but also encourages developers to contribute to the community by developing creative and specialized solutions.

Microsoft is working closely with OpenAI to develop a seamless and consistent process for building plugins compatible with both ChatGPT and Bing AI. In addition to third-party plugin support, Microsoft announced new features for Bing Chat, such as upgraded visual capabilities with graphs, charts, and more visually appealing answers. Furthermore, Bing Chat will be better integrated with Microsoft Edge, with the Bing website now able to transfer users to Edge when navigating outside the Chat interface. This is made possible by the new ability to remember chat history across sessions.

Multiple Google Pixel 7a units appear on eBay prior to release

Ahead of the highly anticipated Google I/O event which is set for May 10, several Pixel 7a (Google Pixel 7a Roundup: Everything We Know So Far) units have been spotted on eBay, available for purchase by eager consumers willing to pay the price. While leaks have already revealed many of the phone’s specs, these listings provide a closer look at the device’s capabilities, including dual-SIM support, 5G and Bluetooth connectivity, and a Tensor G2 chip.

Possible Pixel 7a supply chain leak leads to pre-release sales on eBay

Despite the excitement, experts advise against purchasing the device from unofficial sources, as Google may remotely disable the phone and render it useless. Additionally, the official release of the Pixel 7a is just days away, with an expected price of $499.

This situation is not uncommon in the tech industry, as pre-release products sometimes find their way onto the market early. However, the sheer number of Pixel 7a units available for sale on eBay is quite surprising, indicating either a security breach or a significant supply chain leak.

Google Pixel 7a specifications (rumored)

Rumored specifications for the upcoming Google Pixel 7a suggest that it will feature a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to be powered by Google’s own Tensor G2 chipset, the same one found in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, and will include 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

In terms of photography capabilities, the Pixel 7a is rumored to sport a 64MP main rear camera with OIS, along with a 12MP ultra-wide camera. A 10.8MP front-facing camera will cater to high-quality selfies. The smartphone is anticipated to come with a 4,400mAh battery, offering up to 72 hours of battery life, and will support 20W wired charging and wireless charging. The Pixel 7a is expected to ship with Android 13 out of the box.

Sneaky Smuggler Tries to Slip Past Customs with 48 CPUs Hidden in Shoes

I’m sure many of us dream of purchasing any tech product we want at an affordable price. However, economic conditions and the tax rates of the country you’re in, can create obstacles to achieving this dream. Unfortunately, at this point, a black market of smuggled products comes into play. Products illegally brought in from abroad are introduced to the market without being subject to any taxes in your country. While this situation may occasionally benefit consumers, it is not right, and customs authorities take measures to prevent it. One of these measures recently proved effective in China, as reported a man caught with 48 CPUs hidden in his shoes. Here are the details…

Man Caught with 48 CPUs Hidden in His Shoes

The market for unboxed CPUs continues to grow, these products are often more affordable than their boxed counterparts. However, their origins may be less legitimate. According to the latest reports, a man was recently caught attempting to smuggle 48 CPUs into China by hiding them in his shoes.

According to a report released by the authorities on the matter, a man wearing a black and white short-sleeved shirt entered a dedicated passenger inspection site. Customs officers at the scene noticed that his white canvas shoes seemed unusually large. Upon closer examination, they found the CPUs wrapped in paper tape inside the shoes, totaling 48 units.

This incident serves as a reminder of the conditions under which smuggled goods are brought into the country. Unfortunately, consumers often choose these products due to their lower prices. However, the potential damage to these sensitive technologies during such transport methods is often not taken into account.

Even when transported in factory-sealed boxes, these products can be damaged. It is also worth noting that finding someone to hold accountable in case these “seller-guaranteed” products malfunction in the future is often not possible.

OPPO Reno 10 Pro Appears In Leaked Renders Revealing Design From All Angles

OPPO is reportedly working on the Reno 10 series. Like its predecessor, the next-generation Reno lineup is expected to consist of multiple models. The renders are in line with the leaked schematic design of the device.

On the front, the OPPO Reno 10 Pro is seen with a center-aligned punch-hole display and curved edges. The screen is tipped to measure 6.7 inches. There is a noticeable bezel at the top and bottom chin of the screen. The device features a redesigned pill-shaped protruding camera module at the top left corner. It houses two sensors, a periscope lens, and an LED flash unit.

The OPPO Reno 10 Pro has a slim form factor. Dimension-wise, it is said to measure 163.2×74.2×7.9mm (10.2mm including rear camera bump). The power and volume rocker buttons are located at the right side. There is a USB-C port and a speaker grille at the bottom whereas the top side of the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Apart from the design, the leaked renders don’t reveal the key specifications of the Reno 10 Pro. It is expected to arrive as the successor to the last year’s Reno 9 Pro. It’s worth noting that OPPO did not launch the Reno 9 series outside China. The OPPO Reno 10 Pro is rumored to be powered by a Dimensity 8200 chipset.

Deep sleep mode on Xiaomi Pad 6 series enables standby time of up to 49.9 days

Last month, the Xiaomi Pad 6 series was launched alongside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in China. The company’s latest-gen tablets arrived almost two years after the debut of the Xiaomi Pad 5 lineup.

The Pad 6 series includes a vanilla and pro model. Interestingly, both of them share the same display but unsurprisingly, the pro variant has a better set of specs.

A couple of weeks after their release, Xiaomi reveals a compelling feature of these tablets.

Xiaomi says that the Xiaomi Pad 6 lineup comes with a deep sleep mode to extend the standby time of these devices. This mode kicks in automatically when the tablets are inactive for a longer period of time.

The company uses technologies, such as AI, Absolute Motion Detect (AMD), and geofencing to put the devices into deep sleep mode. The feature gets better with prolonged usage of the product as it adapts based on usage scenarios.

Xiaomi claims that with this new feature, the Xiaomi Pad 6 and the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro can achieve standby time of up to 47.9 days and 49.9 days, respectively.  There’s a difference between the two as the pro version has a larger 8,840mAh battery as opposed to an 8,600mAh cell inside the regular model.

Unlike smartphones, tablets are not used extensively. Thus, this new feature introduced by Xiaomi could be useful for users as they have to worry less about battery when they pick up their tablet days or weeks after the last charge.
