Samsung to Bump Up Screen Size for Upcoming Galaxy Watch 6, Leak States

Bigger displays on smartwatches are generally considered better because they allow for more information to be displayed at once, improving the overall user experience. With a larger screen, text and graphics can be more easily read and navigated, making it easier to access apps, notifications, and other functions. Additionally, a larger screen can enable touch-based interactions that are more intuitive and comfortable. However, it is important to balance the size of the display with the overall design and comfort of the smartwatch, as excessively large screens can make the device too bulky and unwieldy to wear comfortably. Well, Samsung seems to be experimenting with its smartwatches’ screen size in order to see what its customers prefer.

Galaxy Watch

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is expected to have a larger screen size than its predecessor, according to a tweet from the well-known leaker, Ice Universe (@UniverseIce). While the Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro all had 1.4-inch circular displays, the new watch is rumored to have a 1.47-inch screen, making it 0.7 inches bigger than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The resolution of the new watch has also been improved, though it has not yet been confirmed what that resolution is.

In addition to a larger screen, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is expected to feature a rotating bezel, which is a beloved feature by many smartwatch users. The watch will likely run on One UI Watch software and have a range of features including an accelerometer, barometer, blood pressure monitoring, ECG, GPS, gyro, heart rate sensor, magnetic sensor, sleep tracking, and stress measurement. It will also have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and will support LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Samsung Pay, and wireless charging. However, battery life is not expected to see a significant improvement from previous models.

Users can Now Play Multiplayer Games with Friends on Facebook Messenger Video Calls

Facebook Gaming is a gaming platform developed by Facebook that allows users to discover, watch, and play games across different devices. The platform offers a wide range of games from popular genres like action, adventure, sports, and puzzle, as well as live streams of gameplay by popular gamers and influencers. Users can connect with other gamers, create communities, and join groups based on their gaming interests. Facebook Gaming also offers features like in-app purchases, live chat, and gifting to enhance the gaming experience. The platform is available on desktop, iOS, and Android devices, and provides a great way for gamers to engage and connect with others who share their interests. Users can now experience Facebook Gaming in a whole different way, since a recent announcement stated that Facebook Messenger will let users play multiplayer games, even while on a video call.

Messenger

Now users can engage in their favorite games while on video calls with their loved ones using Messenger. This latest feature in Messenger promises to be a fun-filled experience, especially for those people who love multitasking or are bored of conversations easily. Plus, playing games together can be a fun bonding activity, or it can be simply reminiscent of older multiplayer gaming experiences. The best part? Users don’t have to install anything! With 14 free-to-play games available on iOS, Android, and web, they can enjoy a mix of brand new and fan-favorite titles. So far, the games include Card Wars by Bombay Play, Exploding Kittens by Coatsink, Mini Golf FRVR by FRVR, and Words With Friends by Zynga. Most games support two players, but the number of players varies for each game.

Starting a game is quite easy, as a matter of fact. While you’re in a video call with your friends, simply tap the “Group Mode” button in the center, and then tap the “Play” button to get started. This comes as a welcome move from the company, since in 2017, it announced that it would no longer support its desktop gaming platform, which included popular games like Farmville and Mafia Wars. The reason for this was that Facebook was shifting its focus to mobile gaming, where it saw more growth potential. Facebook still supports mobile games and has even expanded its gaming platform to include cloud gaming.

Samsung drops software support for Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy A50

With the release of April 2023 security patches, Samsung drops support for several of its popular smartphones from 2019. Three of them are premium devices, while the remaining one is a mid-ranger.

The phones we are talking about are Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy A50. These handsets will no longer receive software updates.

Galaxy S10+ Cardinal Red featured
Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

All the aforementioned products were released in the first quarter of 2019. They debuted with the original version of One UI based on Android 9.0 Pie.

The Galaxy A50 only received up to Android 11 throughout its support period. On the other hand, the Galaxy S10 series boots Android 12. Anyways, they got up to four years’ worth of security update coverage.

Interestingly, the Galaxy S10 5G is still eligible for quarterly security updates though it launched around the same time. Further, the Galaxy S10 Lite will continue to receive one more year of security updates.

That’s because the S10 Lite was released almost a year after the debut of the original S10 family. It even got access to the Android 13 update as it was introduced with Android 10.

That said, though Samsung has ended the software support, these phones should work as usual without any issues. You may want to upgrade only if you feel the device is not keeping up with your usage.

Like it or not Exynos 2400 may power some Samsung Galaxy S24 units

Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have a mixed reputation in the tech industry. Unlike the Galaxy S22 line released in 2022, the latest Galaxy S23 series is only being sold with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. This suggests that Samsung has finally decided not to use Exynos SoCs in its flagship devices. It turns out that this is not the case, as the Korean company is rumored to be working on a new Exynos 2400 processor that may power the next year’s S24 series.

Exynos 2400 has been leaking through the rumor mill a lot recently. And today a Korean publication has claimed the said SoC will be found under the hood of some Galaxy S24 series models. However, there is no news about which regions will get the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24 variants. As per the report, the chipset will start mass production in 2024, but it won’t be manufactured using Samsung’s cutting-edge 3GAP node. Instead, it will use the ‘improved’ 4LPP variant.

samsung-exynos (1)

Reports suggest, unlike other mobile SoCs that feature an octa-core architecture, the upcoming Exynos platform will have 10 cores. The chipset may have the following cores: one Cortex-X4 (3.1 GHz), two Cortex-A720 cores (2.9 GHz), three Cortex-A720 cores (2.6 GHz) and four Cortex-A520 cores (1.8 GHz). Since Samsung is shifting to deca-core architecture, it’s possible other manufacturers may also follow the lead.

While one may not have high hopes for an Exynos chip, judging from the leaked details, the Exynos 2400 processor looks promising. However, there’s only so much you can learn from dry specs. Currently, it’s not even certain if the Exynos 2400 will actually power the Galaxy S24 series, as Samsung could very well have different plans for the upcoming lineup.

Nothing Ear (Stick) gets Sound and Battery improvements with new Update

Nothing Ear (Stick) is a recent pair of TWS earbuds from the Carl Pei-led startup. The hearables come with a distinct case that looks like lipstick, which is in line with its name. With a 12.6mm dynamic driver on either side, the earbuds offer a decent audio experience and are rated to last up to 7 hours of continuous use. However, Nothing has apparently improved the battery and audio of the Ear (Stick) further with a new software update. Here are the details.

As of today (April 4), Nothing has released a new update for their recent Ear (Stick) TWS earbuds, which introduces a number of changes. Previously, the earbuds were designed with “Clear Voice Technology” that enhanced call quality, providing a talk-time of up to 3 hours without the need for a charging case. With the latest OTA, this talk-time has been extended by approximately 40 minutes.

Nothing-Ear-Stick

Additionally, the Nothing X app’s “More Bass” option for the Ear (Stick) buds has reportedly undergone significant improvements. While the earbuds were initially lauded for their connectivity, the update hints the company has continued to work on improving the stability of their Bluetooth connection.

Nothing is a relatively new brand in the market, having launched only four products so far, with the latest being the Nothing Ear (2). However, the company has demonstrated its dedication to improving its products through software updates. We have seen the brand release multiple updates to the Phone (1), improving its stability, camera performance, and adding new options to the glyph interface. And now it has improved the Ear (Stick) further.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra
Xiaomi 12S Ultra

The Leica-tuned quad-camera setup will be accompanied by a 32MP front-facing camera. The handset should run MIUI 14-based Android 13 O out of the box.

The flagship phone will likely flaunt a 6.73-inch E6 AMOLED curved-edge display with support for a QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Being the premium-most smartphone from the brand, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, LPDDR5x RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. Its highest variant is rumored to provide 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
