Samsung Files Patent for Galaxy Watch With In-Built Projector

Since its introduction, smartwatches have advanced significantly, and Samsung has been at the forefront of innovation in this field. A recent patent application filed by the tech giant raises the possibility of a future Galaxy Watch with an integrated projector. These smartwatches may soon be introduced to the market, and we may even have the opportunity to use one.

According to the patent application, the projector will be built within the watch strap, making it simple to operate and practical for users who are constantly on the go. The patent also implies that the watch will have a variety of sensors that can detect surfaces and automatically change the projected image’s focus and orientation.

Samsung Patent

The patent schematics also show a number of lenses and LEDs arranged in two rows that would enable the Galaxy Watch’s built-in projector to project an image or piece of material onto the hand without any distortion. However, for the image to be correctly presented, your wrist might need to be absolutely straight. To be quite honest, this might very well be one of the inventions that businesses submit out of the blue and be a part of their extensive patent portfolio.

Samsung Patent

Samsung is allowing for more immersive content in the filing that is less suited to the limitations of the wristwatch screen. It states that “information that is displayed on the projection display may differ from information displayed on the display module.” It suggests that, for example, a useful method of viewing films transmitted through chat apps may finally exist. Perhaps video calling could be made possible with the addition of a camera module.

By the time this technology matures, we may get to see further modifications and changes being done to the smartwatch. So that concludes our post on the patent filed by Samsung regarding their Galaxy Watch. What do you think about this? Do let us know by dropping a comment in your words down below. Thanks a lot for reading the post till the end.

Twitter Is Now Advertising for Cannabis Based Companies

Twitter is apparently planning on making some changes to its advertising policies. The company is set to allow cannabis companies to promote their brand and services on the popular platform.

According to the microblogging website’s new blogpost, “Going forward, Twitter is allowing advertisers to promote brand preference and informational cannabis related content for CBD, THC, and cannabis related products and services”. In other words, the companies that sell products related to cannabis and other related items can freely advertise on the social media giant’s platform. Although, there will still be some restrictions on what you can or cannot advertise.

Twitter

As per a separate report, the advertisements are restricted from directly promoting or even offering the sale of cannabis itself. However, there are some exceptions to certain types of CBD based products. Apart from this, there will even be restrictions based on age and location to limit who sees the ads related to cannabis. This new shift in policy is one of the latest changes on Twitter after the company got acquired by billionaire Tesla CEO, Elon Musk.

In the official announcement, the Twitter hinted that cannabis companies could use their platform to reach a broader audience. It also added that conversations related to cannabis is “larger than the conversation around topics such as pets, cooking, and golf, as well as food and beverage categories including fast food, coffee, and liquor.”

Google CEO Sundar Pichai Seeks Employee Help to Improve AI Chatbot Bard

Google recently announced Bard, an AI chatbot that will rival ChatGPT. Everyone was eagerly awaiting the company’s new technology. However, what happened during the launch disappointed everyone. The whole world saw that the US technology giant was behind OpenAI in the field of artificial intelligence, and Bard was not ready yet. Lastly, in an attempt to turn the situation around, CEO Sundar Pichai sent a memo to all his employees, asking them to take two to four hours out of their day to make its search AI actually usable. Here are the details…

Google’s CEO Tells Staff to Spend Hours Working Out ‘Bard’ AI Kinks

Following the disastrous wrong answer from Bard, Google’s shares fell, and the company lost $100 billion in value. In the field of artificial intelligence, which everyone considers the future, Google lagged behind, and it wants to change that. Therefore, the new plan is to direct all employees to the artificial intelligence project. According to a leaked internal email, Google is asking all of its employees to spend two to four hours of their day testing Google’s “Bard” AI, the same system the company plans to integrate into its chat function.

OpeanAI ChatGPT vs Google Bard

In the email he sent, Pichai emphasized the importance of working together and asked his employees to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence. He stated, “Next week, we’ll be enlisting every Googler to help shape Bard and contribute through a special company-wide ‘dogfooding’ program.” “Dogfooding” is a term used within companies to refer to a practice that involves using one’s own product before launching it. He added, “We’re looking forward to receiving all of your feedback — in the spirit of an internal hackathon.

Unfortunately, we do not have information such as the entire email and how many Google employees received it. Although the company recently announced 12,000 job cuts to its global workforce, Google, excluding its parent company Alphabet, still employs over 170,000 people worldwide. Of course, not all of these employees are suitable for the job, but a significant number of them are software developers.

TECNO PHANTOM V Fold Design & Hinge Revealed in Latest Leaks

Foldable smartphones are becoming more mainstream day by day. The biggest smartphone manufacturers are entering the ring with their foldable devices to tap a market that’s becoming more accessible day by day. TECNO’s premium sub-brand, PHANTOM, is gearing up to launch its own foldable smartphone, the PHANTOM V Fold, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona on February 28. Latest leaks have revealed TECNO Phantom V Fold’s design in all its glory.

TECNO PHANTOM V FOLD

Previously in January, TECNO released a teaser, which looked like a concept video for a rollable smartphone. Although the PHANTOM V Fold is expected to be a left-right foldable device, similar features from the concept video may still be implemented in the upcoming smartphone.

Leaks have also revealed that the PHANTOM V Fold will feature a hinge with a reverse snap structure, identical to the concept video. The hinge seems to enhance the phone’s structural stability, while the aerospace-grade materials used in the hinge will ensure that the device remains lightweight and strong.

Furthermore, it seems that the PHANTOM V Fold will feature a circular camera design with three rear lenses, forming part of a 5-lens system. Users can expect to take some fantastic images with ease.

The leaked image showcases the PHANTOM V Fold in black, but speculations state that a second colorway will be available. Furthermore, it seems like the PHANTOM V Fold will be the first left-right foldable smartphone to feature MediaTek‘s flagship Dimensity 9000+ processor, which has shown promise in other smartphones such as Tecno Phantom X2 and Vivo X80.

One thing is for sure – The anticipation for the PHANTOM V Fold is at an all-time, thanks to the leaks surfacing the web. Upon launch, the smartphone will go up against other popular foldable smartphones, such as Huawei Mate X and Oppo Find N2 Flip. The foldable smartphone business is expected to grow by 30% in 2023. The countdown to the official launch of Phantom V Fold is on as consumers wait for more updates from TECNO!

FlyHong OS Lite Based on HarmonyOS Launches

One of the things that makes Android successful is that it is open source. As you may know, manufacturers can customize the operating system and add a unique version to their smartphones. This enables unique interfaces to emerge, and dozens of brands using the same operating system can offer different experiences. Now, something similar is happening with Huawei’s own operating system. FlyHong OS Lite has launched based on HarmonyOS. Here are the details…

FlyHong OS Lite launched based on HarmonyOS

Fuzhou Huisibo Information Technology has recently launched FlyHong OS Lite. This is a new operating system based on open source HarmonyOS (OpenHarmony). HarmonyOS

FlyHong OS Lite has tested by the Bank Card Testing Center (BCTC) to ensure that it meets all industry requirements. The review of operating system covered various aspects such as basic functions of the operating system, financial service functions, interface layers, system services, layers, security, component functionality, stability, and compatibility. FlyHong OS passed all tests successfully.

FlyHong OS Lite also offers a wide range of financial capabilities, security capabilities, and system customization capabilities based on OpenHarmony. Financial digital service terminals provide all-around protection for system security, data security, and application security.

HarmonyOS

Apple to Announce Mixed Reality Headset Later This Year During WWDC

Apple might finally have a set launch date for its highly anticipated mixed reality headset. The upcoming device also marks the company entering a new category of products. Now, a new report has revealed when we can expect the headset to drop.

According to sources close to the matter, the Cupertino based giant will be officially showcasing its AR/VR based headset later this year, during its WWDC event. This is a major conference from the iPhone maker that is typically held in the middle of the year, so we can expect an announcement sometime in June 2023. As per previous reports, the device in question could be called the Reality Pro.

Apple

Initial rumors had hinted at an earlier launch, however, the brand faced various challenges in regards to software and hardware. Because of this, it had to postpone the launch. The headset will likely arrive with a hefty price tag that could go as high as 3,000 US Dollars. Although, finer details regarding its specs and features are still unclear. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Launch Tipped for H2 2023

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S Fan Edition (FE) series in 2020 with the launch of the Galaxy S20 FE. During the announcement, the company revealed that it will bring more FE phones down the line.

But unfortunately, the plan did not go well. The South Korean Electronic giant only released a single successor in the form of Galaxy S21 FE. Even this device was on the brink of getting canceled but somehow it went official much later than the planned timeline.

Further, the Galaxy S22 FE had a rough start since the beginning. It was said to be axed a few months ago. Amidst this, a new report now suggests that Samsung may debut the Galaxy S23 FE later this year.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE All Colors
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

According to a report by a South Korean publication called Hankooki (via SamMobile), Samsung will release the Galaxy S23 FE in the second half of 2023. If this is true, the Galaxy S FE series is still alive and intact.

The affordable Galaxy S lineup was said to be discontinued for once and all last year. Thus, this piece of information is good news for targeted consumers.

The report also confirms the fate of the rumored Galaxy A74. The successor of Galaxy A73 is most likely canceled. This is expected to prevent cannibalism among Samsung’s own phones. For the unaware, the A7x handsets are usually priced closer to the Galaxy S FE devices.

Additionally, the report also says that the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE will be sold in more markets than ever before. This is to compensate for the absence of Galaxy A74.

Unfortunately, not much is known about the next-gen Galaxy S Fan Edition smartphone. There’s a chance it could be powered by an unreleased Exynos 2300 SoC. However, we could not rule out the possibility of Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Snapdragon Gen 2 for Galaxy chipsets either.

Snapchat Introduces Ray Tracing Technology to AR Lens Studio

Snapchat is revolutionizing augmented reality with its introduction of ray tracing technology to the AR Lens Studio for developers. The technology allows for realistic renderings of light and shine on AR artifacts, bringing the ultra-realistic quality of ray tracing to mobile devices for the first time at this scale. Working in partnership with Tiffany & Co., the first Lens built with ray tracing allows users to try on Tiffany Lock bracelets using AR and purchase them directly within the app. This new development enhances the quality of any Lens featuring objects where lighting bounces and is reflected on their surface, such as metals, stones, and glass surfaces.

Snapchat AR

Ray tracing is a rendering technique used in computer graphics to create realistic images by simulating the behavior of light in a physical environment. It works by tracing the path of light rays as they interact with objects and surfaces in a virtual scene, calculating the way they would behave in the real world. This allows for accurate and realistic reflections, refractions, shadows, and other lighting effects. By creating images based on the actual physical behavior of light, ray tracing can create images that are visually more convincing and lifelike than other rendering techniques, making it a popular choice in fields such as animation, video games, and product design.

Snapchat has been working hard to improve its technology in the shopping Lens creation area, given that 250 million Snapchat users engaged with its AR Shopping Lenses more than 5 billion times in 2022. The introduction of ray tracing technology to its app could also help the company better compete with larger social media companies, such as Instagram and Messenger. Additionally, Snap has recently partnered with Amazon for its augmented reality-powered Virtual Try-On shopping experience, starting with eyewear but with plans to expand into other categories in the months ahead. With these new AR improvements, Lenses featuring AR diamond jewelry, clothing, and much more can now reach ultra-realistic quality, making the shopping experience personal, accessible, and fun for Snapchatters worldwide.

Update: OnePlus 11R 5G Confirmed To Receive Three Android OS and Four Years Of Security Updates

Update: OnePlus reached out to us today saying that they miscommunicated the software update cycle for the OnePlus 11R previously. The correct update cycle is three years of Android OS versions and four years of security updates. This means that the OnePlus 11R will receive up to Android 16 version.

Original story continues

OnePlus had announced a new software update policy last December. During the Cloud 11 launch event, the brand revealed that the OnePlus 11 5G will be the first phone to receive four future Android OS versions. However, the same was not announced for the OnePlus 11R 5G which also debuted at the event. Now the OnePlus support team has officially confirmed the software update cycle for the latest R-series device.

Replying to a user on Twitter, OnePlus says that the latest 11R will get four major Android updates and five years of security updates. It ships with the latest OxygenOS 13-based Android 13 out of the box. The guaranteed four years of updates mean that the smartphone will be eligible to run on the Android 17 OS version. This puts the OnePlus 11R 5G on par with the 11 5G in terms of software support. Additionally, there are not many devices under the Rs 45,000 segment (considering the top variant of the 11R 5G) to get as many as four years of Android OS updates. Most of them offer two or three versions at max.

The longer software update cycle of the OnePlus 11R 5G makes it a great option for those who want to use the phone longer while also experiencing new software features with every version of future Android. Software updates are a major parameter that influences customers buying decisions. Longer support allows users to keep using their devices for a longer period of time after paying a premium. Brands like Google, Samsung, and OPPO have been offering four years of software updates for select phones since a while now.
