Redmi has officially debuted the Redmi Note 12 series smartphones in the Indian and Chinese markets. Compared to the three Note 12 series variations available in India, the Chinese market offers a few extra choices. In China, the majority of Note 12 series smartphones support 5G networks, however, the brand appears to have a 4G device in the pipeline for some markets.

Redmi

XiaomiUI has spotted the Redmi Note 12 4G Indian and global variants on the IMEI database. These devices are likely headed to countries that haven’t fully transitioned to 5G network yet. Other than India and other global markets, the device might also debut in China as an affordable Note 12 option.

Model numbers 23028RA60L and 23021RAAEG are on the ones that will be sold in India and some international markets. These devices carry the codename Tapas and lack NFC support. There is an NFC-enabled version that will debut in international markets but not in India. The model number for this variation is 23021RAA2Y, and it goes by the codename “topaz.”

The report also included information on the phone’s software. According to XiaomiUI, the Note 12 4G will boot the most recent Android 13 operating system. As anticipated, MIUI 14 will be added on top. In contrast, the Note 12 series, which was released in India, comes pre-installed with MIUI 13, an Android 12-based operating system.

The phone will debut with at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, according to the rumor. 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will be available as the highest storage option. Unfortunately, no other information is available on the Redmi Note 12 4G as of yet. However, we can expect it to feature an AMOLED display, and there is a possibility that it might be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset.

Xiaomi Mijia LCD Small Blackboard Color Edition Goes on Open Sale in China

At the beginning of the month, Xiaomi released the Mijia LCD Small Blackboard Color Edition for crowdfunding. Now, the slate is officially on sale in China with a starting price of 69 Yuan. This price tag is 10 yuan more expensive than the crowdfunding price.

Xiaomi Mijia

The slate can produce numerous colors, as its name implies, and this is made possible by a specially designed color liquid crystal panel. There are two sizes of the Blackboard: 10 inches and 13 inches.

It enables pressure writing, with the handwriting’s thickness varying as pressure is applied. The blackboard can be quickly cleared using the sensing area that is located above the screen. Handwriting is displayed on the screen using natural light reflection since it lacks a backlight.

Xiaomi Mijia

The screen is blue-light-free, according to the manufacturer, so it can be used for lengthy periods of time by children and adults of all ages. Additionally, the board only uses energy when the information on it is being wiped.

Sadly, there is no mention of the option to save writings for later use. It is merely a writing board-like “write and wipe” tablet. Check out the Xiaomi MIJIA LCD Small Blackboard Storage Edition if you’re looking for a slate with built-in storage.

Apple’s Indian iPhone Production Surge Challenges Chinese Manufacturers

Apple’s recent plans to expand iPhone production in India have had a major impact on component suppliers in China. According to the South China Morning Post, the shares of Chinese companies involved in all of Apple’s devices have already fallen in response to the move. Goertek, a component supplier, lose AirPods orders as expansion knocks profit forecasts 60%. Camera parts maker Ofilm also stopped all orders because Apple was placed on the U.S. sanctions list for human rights violations, resulting in a sharp drop in sales and profits.

The move by Apple is part of a larger strategy to diversify its supply chain and reduce its reliance on China. The company has been facing increasing pressure from the U.S. government to move production out of China, as well as rising labor costs and U.S.-China trade tensions. India, on the other hand, offers an abundance of skilled labor and a pro-business government eager to attract foreign investment. Also, India has a huge smartphone market, and by producing devices locally, Apple can avoid import duties and increase its market share in India nation.

It should be noted, however, that while iPhone shipments in India doubled between April 2022 and December 2022, they still account for less than 5% of the total. Nonetheless, a Taiwanese analyst predicts that India’s production could increase to 50% of all iPhones by 2027. This The forecast is in line with earlier forecasts by JPMorgan analysts who estimated that 25 percent of all iPhones will be manufactured in India by 2025.

As production of iPhones and other Apple products in India continues to grow, the impact on Chinese suppliers is likely to continue to be significant. Chinese suppliers that have so far relied largely on Apple as a major customer will have to find new customers to compensate Lost Apple orders. This could lead to the decline of the Chinese component industry and the rise of the Indian component industry.

Apple Planning Bid for English Premier League Streaming Rights

Apple plans to bid for streaming rights to the English Premier League (EPL), according to a report in a British tabloid. The move will build on the company’s recently signed, decade-long deal to stream Major League Soccer (MLS) exclusively on Apple TV starting next month. if report To be precise, Apple would be the fourth-biggest contender for domestic rights to top-flight English football.

Domestic EPL rights are currently valued at £5.1bn ($6.23bn) and operate on a three-year renewal cycle. Tender rights for the EPL are due to be renewed later this year, with existing rights for the current three-year period expiring in 2025. This means there will be The current valuation of domestic EPL rights could increase significantly if Apple enters the bidding process.

Premier League footballers

In recent years, there have been bidding wars between major players such as Sky Sports BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video, with Sky Sports often the dominant player. However, the package clause ensures that no one broadcaster gets all of the Premier League rights, so any deal Apple’s broadcast rights for the EPL will necessarily fall short of the exclusivity deal the company has successfully negotiated with the MLS.

Notably, ‌Apple TV+‌ premiered the “Super League: Battle for Football” documentary series on Sunday, charting an ill-fated European league proposal pitting the sport’s elite clubs against each other. This may indicate that the company is looking to increase its Sports coverage of the future.

All told, Apple is reportedly planning to bid for the Premier League streaming rights, a move that would add to the current £5.1 billion ($6.23 billion) valuation for the domestic EPL rights. That would make the company the fourth-largest player vying for the purchase Domestic rights for top-flight English football join the likes of Sky Sports BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video.

Sony PS5 Might Be Prone to Liquid Metal Leakage That Causes Failure

The Sony PlayStation 5 and the Microsoft Xbox Series X and Series S consoles are the latest generation of gaming consoles and are capable of being placed vertically or horizontally. However, it seems that one of these methods could possibly lead to your PS5 failing entirely.

Sony

According to a recent tweet, the Japanese tech giant’s PlayStation 5 console could be prone to permanent internal damage when placed upright. Apparently, when you place the PlayStation 5 vertically the liquid metal interface used on the custom AMD APU can leak out. In other words, this basically means that the cooling mechanism has failed and the liquid metal will spill out on the motherboard.

The tweet was shared by @68logic, who owns his own hardware repair shop. This incident isn’t isolated since another owner of specialized repair shop, Ben Montana, also corroborated this issue with the PS5. The issue likely happens due to the seal between the APU and the heatsink not being tight enough. This leads to the liquid metal leaking out, which can be quite harmful to the gaming console. Another party that confirmed this issue was YouTuber TheCod3r, who confirmed the liquid metal spillage in one of his videos.

As of right now, there are million of gamers that place their PS5 vertically. So while this issue might not be as common across the board. There is still a chance of the problem affecting many other PS5 owners. Although, one console repairer and YouTuber Spawn Wave Plus stated that Sony has gone “above and beyond” to offer a capable barrier around the liquid metal. Regardless, it is unclear if this issue only affects some PS5 models at the moment.
