Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G flagship phone in India. To recall, the handset was first announced in China in December 2021. Later, it was made available in global markets, and now, it has finally landed in India. At the same event, the company also took off the covers of other products such as the Xiaomi Pad 5, Xiaomi Smart TV 5A, and Xiaomi OLED Vision TV. Here is all the information on the specifications, features, and pricing of the Xiaomi 12 Pro for India.

Design and Display

The Xiaomi 12 Pro sports a premium design as it features a curved display on the front. The screen has a camera cutout at the top-center position. The rear shell of the device, which can resist fingerprint marks, has a rectangle-shaped camera module with the main camera on top and the remaining cameras with LED flash below it.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro has an E5 AMOLED display with LPTO technology, which has received A+ certification from DisplayMate. Specifications

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. The device ships with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. For heat dissipation, the device is equipped with a large-sized VC liquid cooling unit measuring 2,900mm2 in area.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro packs a 4,600mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. The company claims that the device can be fully charged in just 18 minutes through its rapid charging technology. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is equipped with Xiaomi’s self-developed P1 chip, which not only prevents energy loss but also assists in charging it efficiently. The Xiaomi flagship also carries support for 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G comes preinstalled with the Android 12 OS and MUI 13. The device is blessed with quad speakers by Harmon Kardon. It offers other features such as dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C slot, Doby Atmos support, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Cameras

The Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G has a 32-megapixel selfie camera that comes with pixel-level skin rejuvenation technology. It is capable of shooting up to 60fps 1080p videos. The rear camera setup of the phone has a 50-megapixel Sony IMX707 primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture and OIS support. It is coupled with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 115-degree FOV, and a 50-megapixel portrait camera with a 48-mm focal length and an f/1.9 aperture. The Xiaomi 12 Pro supports 8K video recording and 960fps 1080p slow-motion video shooting.

Pricing and availability

The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes in two variants, such as 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. These models are priced at Rs 62,999 (~$823) and Rs 66,999 (~$875), respectively. With Rs 4,000 (~$52) discount on ICICI cards an EMI transactions and inductor offer that brings an additional discount of Rs 4,000, both models can be bought for Rs 52,999 (~$692) and Rs 56,999 (~$744), respectively.

The device has arrived in three colors such as black, blue, and purple. The first sale of the Xiaomi 12 Pro will be carried out at 12 pm on May 2 through Mi.com and Amazon India.

In a weird act of protest, the owner of an Ola S1 Pro walked around a town in India after the electric scooter broke down and stopped working. The owner made the public stunt against Ola Electric.

The S1 Pro user also shared the video online. The man from the Beed district of Maharashtra tied a donkey to the new electric scooter and walked it across town. Furthermore, the man claims that he faced lackluster after sales services from the EV unit of the popular ride hailing platform. Notably, the owner also attached a banner on the donkey and the S1 Pro electric scooter, which read “Beware of this fraudulent company, Ola” and, “Do not buy two wheelers of Ola Company.”

The man in question is Sachin Gitte, who bought the new yellow S1 Pro back in September 2021 but the delivery of the electric scooter was completed on 24th March 2022. However, Gitte said that the EV stopped working just a few days after, on April 8. The reason for this public stunt also arrived due to poor responses from the company regarding his electric scooter, not functioning. Sachin added that Ola Electric did not provide any solution even after the company sent a mechanic.

This news arrives just a couple of days after the company recalled 1,441 scooters in India. For those unaware, the brand’s S1 Pro model had caught fire in Pune, while other reports also highlighted other issues with the electric scooter. So, it remains to be seen just how Ola Electric responds to this stunt.

OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus Ace smartphone in the Chinese market which is now available for purchase. The OPPO-backed company is now all set to launch the device in the Indian market under a different name — OnePlus 10R.

Given that the OnePlus 10R is the rebranded OnePlus Ace smartphone, we already know the phone’s specifications and features. It has a plastic frame and the phone is expected to come in three color options — Arctic Glow, Green, and Sierra Black.

The smartphone features a 6.7-inch flexible OLED display panel with a screen resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels and a 394 PPI pixel density. It offers up to a 120Hz refresh rate, a 20:9 aspect ratio, 93.4% screen-to-body ratio, and 950 nits local peak brightness.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset, which is coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

Along with the iQOO Z6 Pro 5G smartphone, the Vivo-backed smartphone manufacturer also launched the 4G-only iQOO Z6 in the Indian market.

The phone is similar to the Z6 Pro 5G in terms of design but differs a lot in terms of specifications. The company is touting this new budget smartphone as India’s fastest charging phone with an AMOLED display in this price range.

It comes with a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ screen resolution of 2408 x 1080 pixels and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor for added security.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. The phone comes in three memory configurations to choose from — 4GB RAM, 6GB RAM, and 8GB RAM, along with support for virtual RAM for up to 4GB. All three models come with 128GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the smartphone features a triple-camera setup on the back which consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel bokeh sensor. On the front side, there’s a 16-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

It is running the Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own FunTouch OS 12 on top. The device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and comes with support for 44W fast charging.

The iQOO Z6 smartphone is being offered in two color options in the Indian market — Raven Black and Lumina Blue. At the Xiaomi Next 2022 event in India, the company finally announced the Xiaomi 12 Pro for the country. At the same time, it also debuted the Xiaomi Pad 5. The flagship tablet from the firm was first unveiled in August 2021. It took the brand 8 months to bring its first tablet in years to India. Let’s take a look at its specs along with its pricing and availability.

Xiaomi Pad 5 Specifications

The Xiaomi Pad 5 features a plastic rear panel and a metal frame. It measures 254.69 x 166.25 x 6.85mm in dimensions and weighs 511g.

The tablet flaunts a 10.95-inch display (LCD) with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (WQHD+), 275 PPI, and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The 10-bit panel supports stylus input via Xiaomi Smart Pen, DCI-P3 color gamut, and Dolby Vision HDR standard. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a peak brightness level of 650 nits.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It boots MIUI 13 based on Android 11 with the MIUI for Pad interface. It is backed by an 8,720mAh battery, which is capable of charging at the rate of 33W (22.5W charger included in the box).

The product comes with a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. It houses quad speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Hi-Res Audio Wireless. Unfortunately, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroSD card slot, or fingerprint sensor.

Finally, the connectivity options on the tablet include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 (Type-C), and a pogo pin connector for the official keyboard accessory.

Lenovo IdeaPad 14 and 15 Ryzen Edition goes official in China for 2,999 yuan ($458)

Lenovo has been one of the leading laptop brands globally, thanks to its wide range of selection and product range. The company has a lineup of budget laptops under the IdeaPad series and the portfolio has been expanded in the Chinese market.

The company has launched two new entry-level laptops in China — Lenovo IdeaPad 14 Ryzen Edition and Lenovo IdeaPad 15 Ryzen Edition.

As the name itself indicates, both the devices come powered by AMD’s Ryzen processors. In this case, the laptops are powered by the AMD Ryzen R5 5500U processor which has six cores, 12 threads and offers a clock speed of up to 4GHz.

The chipset is manufactured using a 7nm process and also comes with a Vega7 Core graphics processor. Coming to the memory configuration, the laptops pack 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

While the IdeaPad 14 comes with a 14-inch display, the IdeaPad 15 features a 15.6-inch display, both of which have support for Full HD screen resolution. In the software department, the devices are running the latest Windows 11 operating system. As for the battery capacity, they are powered by a 42Wh battery.

The iQOO Z6 Pro 5G has just been launched in India. The company announced the new smartphone during a launch event that was streamed on YouTube. It is the brand’s latest mid range handset, so let’s have a look at its specs and pricing.

The Chinese smartphone maker’s new smartphone arrives with a flat display on the front that also has a waterdrop notch at the top. On the rear, the device sport a triple camera setup on a large module on the top right corner, which also houses the LED flash as well. The live images were shared by Himanshu Tandon, the Chinese smartphone maker’s India Sales Lead. These images were posted on Twitter and offered us a clear look at the device in its full glory. For those unaware, the M4 5G is an entry level mid range handset, however, the company clearly placed an emphasis on making the smartphone look appealing.

Looking at these live images, we can see that the smartphone will feature a large camera module on the back that houses a dual camera setup and an LED flash on the top left corner. We can also see the company’s branding on the right side of the same module. Furthermore, the tweet also revealed that the device will be available in multiple color options. This includes a black, yellow, and even a grayish blue model as well.

Talking about the smartphone’s specs, the device is expected to sport a 6.58 inch Full HD+ LCD panel that has a 90Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop notch. Under the hood, the handset is rumored to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and a Mali G57 GPU. iQOO unveiled the iQOO Neo6 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 onboard earlier this month. Now, the brand is gearing up to launch another Neo-branded smartphone in the coming month. Today, the company revealed that it will be announcing the iQOO Neo6 SE at 7:30 PM (local time) on May 6.

The iQOO Neo6 SE will succeed the iQOO Neo5 SE, which was unveiled in December 2021. Even though the company hasn’t revealed any details on the specs of the Neo6 SE, it has started taking pre-orders in China through official website and JD.com.

Chinese tipsters have claimed that the iQOO Neo6 SE will be powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. To recollect, the same chipset is present under the hood of the predecessor model. The leaks suggest that the Neo6 SE will offer improvements in departments like display, battery, and fast charging as compared to the predecessor model.

The iQOO Neo5 SE features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD FHD+ 144Hz display. It packs a 4,700mAH battery that carries support for 55W fast charging. Rumors are rife that the Neo6 SE will be equipped with a slightly smaller 6.62-inch screen, but it will be an AMOLED panel offering an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Neo6 SE is likely to house a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging. It will come preinstalled with Android 12 OS and OriginOS Ocean UI. The other specs of the Neo6 SE are yet to be revealed.

The Neo5 SE has a 16-megapixel camera for snapping selfies. Its back panel has a triple camera unit featuring a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It is unclear whether the Neo6 SE will retain the same cameras. Hopefully, the company will confirm the key specs of the Neo6 SE before its official announcement.

Vivo launched the X80 series comprising the Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro just a couple of days back in China. It looks like the company isn’t planning to allow the publicity surrounding the launch to fizzle out before unveiling the model to the global market.

According to a teaser poster shared on the Vivo Malaysia Twitter page, the Vivo X80 series will be launched for the global market on May 8. The event which is billed to be an online launch event will commence at 3 PM local time.

The promotional poster has the slogan “X-tion with Speed” which is a reference to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset that will power the X80 Pro and the Dimensity 9000 SoC powering the X80.

To recall, the Vivo X80 series features a large rectangular camera island on the back that holds a triple camera lineup. The cameras are arranged in a circular module with the ZEISS branding. Vivo T1 5G launched with Snapdragon 778G, 66W fast charging support

Vivo has announced two new T-series of smartphones in Malaysia. The first one is the Vivo T1x 4G, which offers key features such as a 90Hz display, Snapdragon 680, and 50-megapixel triple cameras. The Vivo T1 5G is the other T-branded phone to go official in Malaysia.

In October 2021, Vivo unveiled the Snapdragon 778G powered Vivo T1 5G in China. In February 2022, the company unveiled the Vivo T1 5G with Snapdragon 695 in India. Now, it has unveiled another Vivo T1 5G with Snapdragon 778G onboard in Malaysia. Sounds confusing? All three are different phones with the same name.

Vivo T1 5G specifications and features

The Vivo T1 5G has a 6.44-inch AMOLED FHD+ teardrop notch display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate, 1,300 nits of brightness, and HDR10+ support. It is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The Snapdragon 778G chipset-powered handset comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The handset runs on the Android 12 OS with FunTouch OS on top.

The Vivo T1 5G has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro snapper. It has a 4,700mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. It appears that this phone may get rebranded as the Vivo T1 Pro 5G in India soon.

Vivo T1 5G pricing and availability

The Vivo T1 5G is priced at MYR 1,299 (~$300). The device comes in two colors, such as Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan.

The Vivo T1 5G that has arrived in Malaysia is different from its Chinese variant. The latter offers key specs such as a 6.67-inch LCD FHD+ 120Hz punch-hole screen, a Snapdragon 778G chip, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, a 5,000mAh battery, 44W fast charging, a 16-megapixel selfie camera, and a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit.

But is it the best flagship killer in the top-tier segment? Is there a good rival for this handset or there is no device in the market with the same value for money. Well, the best rival for the new flagship from Xiaomi’s sub-brand is actually the first Realme premium flagship: the Realme GT 2 Pro. Design

The design of the POCO F4 GT is very aggressive and gaming-centric: when you look at it, you can immediately understand that it is a gaming phone. Despite its affordable price tag, it is built with premium materials: it has a glass back, an aluminum frame, and a front glass protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. Two of the three color options of the Realme GT 2 Pro are made with a special bio-polymer to improve sustainability and designed by the known Japanese Naoto Fukasawa. While the Realme GT 2 Pro provides a very original and refined look, the materials are cheaper as the phone does not sport an aluminum frame and it is entirely made of polymers. Further, you should consider that the POCO F4 GT features two physical magnetic pop-up gaming triggers on the right side, very useful for gamers.

Display

The display of the Realme GT 2 Pro is a lot better than the one found on the POCO F4 GT and it matches the specifications of the displays found on the most expensive flagships. It is an AMOLED panel with the LTPO technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, one billion colors, a Quad HD+ resolution, the HDR10+ certification, and a diagonal of 6.7 inches, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. The POCO F4 GT has an inferior 6.67-inch panel with one billion colors, a 120 Hz refresh rate without the LTPO technology, the HDR10+ certification, and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. In this case, the fingerprint reader is side-mounted.

Specs & Software

When it comes to the hardware and performance, it is essentially a draw. Both the phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform by Qualcomm running at a max frequency of 3 GHz and paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. They run Android 12 out of the box with a highly customized user interface on top. Note that the POCO F4 GT has a virtual proximity sensor, so the performance of the proximity sensor will be inferior if compared to its rival.

Camera

If you are looking for the best camera phone, go for the Realme GT 2 Pro without thinking twice. It comes with a triple camera including a Sony IMX766 main sensor with a 50 MP resolution and OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 3 MP microlens with 40x magnification. It is a high-end camera setup, unlike the one found on the POCO F4 GT. The Xiaomi flagship killer has a triple camera including a 64 MP midrange-class main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro lens. The GT 2 Pro even comes with a better selfie snapper with a 32 MP resolution.

Battery

The Realme GT 2 Pro provides a longer battery life not only because it has a bigger 5000 mAh battery, but also because its display has the LTPO technology improving the efficiency. On the other hand, the smaller 4700 mAh battery of the POCO F4 GT features a faster 120W charging technology.

Price

You need at least €749/$797 to purchase the Realme GT 2 Pro, while the POCO F4 GT starts from just €599/$637. The GT 2 Pro wins the comparison due to its better display, cameras, and battery, but a lot of people may prefer the POCO flagship due to its higher value for money.

Hisense to launch a new e-ink smartphone on May 11

Hisense will unveil its latest e-ink smartphone during its scheduled May 11 event. The Hi Reader e-ink smartphone, according to Hisense, is focused on promoting reading in a comfortable and inviting manner. The announcement was made to coincide with World Book Day on April 23. The new Hisense Hi Reader is pretty lightweight and slim. It weighs 177g and has a thickness of 7.5mm.

The glare-free display of e-ink devices means that users can keep reading whether they are outdoors or not. It is a pocket smartphone with a 6.7-inch e-ink display and 300 PPI resolution. The screen-to-body ratio of the new e-ink smartphone is about 84% and the smartphone automatically adjusts to ambient conditions. The glare-free display is an important eye-care feature that provides a soothing experience when reading.

The new device will be powered by an octa-core 1.8GHz Zhanrui T610 chip with a 4GB/64GB RAM/internal storage configuration. The device will feature an Android 10 operating system out of the box and a less-restrictive user interface. The overall UI setting allows for a complete focus on the reading task without worrying about distractive notifications.

There are scant details relating to some other aspects of the device including global availability, pricing, and battery capacity. Some of these details will become available as we inch closer to the scheduled May 11 Hisense event.

Samsung’s T7 Shield SSD is a more durable version of the T7, starts at $143.99

Samsung has released a more rugged version of its T7 portable USB-C SSD. It is called the T7 Shield and has gone on sale today with two options available. The Samsung T7 Shield portable USB-C SSD is priced at $143.99 and $260.99, for the 1TB and 2TB versions respectively.

The Samsung T7 Shield has the same internals as the T7, but its rugged externals seem to have trumped that of the metal T7. The rubber coating of the device allows for better heat management, as well as a higher drop and scratch resistance for the device.

The T7 Shield is rated IP65 which offers sufficient dust and water resistance. It can efficiently transfer up to 1TB of data while a higher quantum of data will trigger its Dynamic Thermal Guard. The thermal guard ramps up the speed of data transfer thereby safeguarding the device.

The Samsung T7 Shield has similar Read and write speeds as the T7 and T7 Touch, and it comes in three colors: blue, black, and beige. It is compatible with a wide array of devices from Macs, to Windows, Android phones, and game consoles.

The package comes with two USB cables for USB-C and USB-A data transfers. The corresponding metal-coated T7 models are priced lower than the new T7 Shield. It is also projected that the prices of the two variants could subsequently be reviewed downwards. The unique selling point for the T7 Shield remains its ruggedness.
