Xiaomi is ramping up its focus on saving lives through its array of functionalities in its smartphones and other devices. The Chinese tech powerhouse continues to work with disaster prevention and mitigation institutions in developing early warning systems that could help millions of Indonesians respond adequately to earthquake threats. Xiaomi has therefore announced the launch of its Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) feature for its Indonesia-based customers. The EEW feature is a trial version for now.
The EEW feature, when switched on, will provide useful notifications on seismic activity that could result in earthquakes in Indonesia. The seismic intensity and the location of the earthquake immediately it occurs will help Xiaomi smartphone users in Indonesia make an informed decision to move away and avoid such areas. According to Xiaomi, the EEW gives a brief warning time prior to the arrival of secondary waves. Its calculations are based on electric waves which are much faster than secondary waves. The EEW feature in the Xiaomi smartphone interfaces with the early warning system of the earthquake monitoring institution. Synchronized information from the earthquake monitoring agency is then fed to enabled Xiaomi smartphones as notifications. Priority is given to areas where the earthquake is occurring for greater effectiveness.
The notifications will display important information about the earthquake including the expected time of arrival and its magnitude. The phone will ring a warning tone when the early warning occurs and Xiaomi says users must familiarize themselves with this tone. Xiaomi is also expecting feedback from users who opt into the EEW feature in their compatible Xiaomi smartphones in Indonesia.
Just last month, Motorola had announced the Moto G22 in the European region. But now, a new report has revealed that the company is now gearing up to launch the smartphone in India sometime soon.
Moto G22
According to a 91Mobilesreport, sources close to the matter have claimed that the brand is planning on announcing the Moto G22 for the Indian market next week. In other words, the company is bringing the device to the Southeast Asian nation just a month after its global release. Reportedly, the Moto G22 will be launching in India sometime next week, which is between April 4 and April 10. So if this news is true, we can expect Motorola will likely start sharing official teasers of the device in the country soon.
Talking about the smartphone itself, the device is expected to arrive with a refreshed design that consists of a premium build quality. The device will likely sport a 6.22 inch HD+ IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, a MediaTek Helio G37 chipset will run the handset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card slot.
The device will boot Android 12 OS out of the box and sport a quad camera module on the rear. This setup will include a 50 megapixel primary camera setup, 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, a 2 megapixel depth sensor, and another 2 megapixel macro camera. Meanwhile, the front features a 16 megapixel punch hole selfie shooter. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed news so take it with a pinch of salt and stick around for more updates.
Back in 2021, the Chinese automobile market was severely impacted by the ongoing chip shortage issue. Meanwhile, a new report has revealed that while China has the largest automobile market, the domestic market only uses 5 percent of local chips.
For those unaware, the automobile industry across the globe took a hit due to supply constraints of semiconductors. Despite electric cars and other new energy vehicles becoming more popular, the lack of chips had caused a decline in the market. As of right now, the automobile production and sales of new energy vehicles market in China is the leader in the industry. However, the domestic market’s self sufficiency rate for auto chips is less than 10 percent.
According to a MyDriversreport, this localization rate is less than 5 percent. In other words, despite having the largest automobile market, especially for NEVs, China only uses around 5 percent of locally made chips for the cars it manufactures. In the automotive industry, the MCU chips are the most in short supply. Notably, this chip is also the one which is basically monopolized by foreign chip manufacturers. The only exception to this is BYD, but apart from this brand, there are no other Chinese automakers that manufacture this chips.
As per an industry insider, the core chipsets for the automobile industry is basically in the “hands of foreign” manufacturers. The source also added that the China market has a a lot of money but only a few players have the patience to invest. Producing chipsets require money and at least 5 to 10 years worth of time.

The South Korean tech giant made the announcement earlier this week. Samsung’s new repair program is basically a self repair program, which is similar to the one Apple launched last year. The “Self Service Repair” program from the Cupertino based giant is planned to launch in early 2022 and is designed to allow users to do their own repairs by sourcing parts and repair manuals from Apple.
As of right now, the brand’s self repair program limited to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 at launch. Similarly, Samsung’s own repair option is also limited at the moment. Snapchat has just recently announced a new feature for iOS and Android users. The social media app will now allow users to share videos directly from the YouTube app, rather than having them manually cope and paste a link.
Now, Snapchat users will get a custom YouTube sticker that has the video’s thumbnail instead of a URL. This new feature was announced by the popular social media platform on its official blog. The company stated that it wanted to make it easier for YouTube users to share their favorite clips or videos directly on its app without having to leave the YouTube app.
The company added that “Starting today, all Snapchatters across iOS and Android can seamlessly share their favorite YouTube videos with their friends straight through the Snapchat Camera – no more pesky copying and pasting required!” As per the official notes, this is the first time that YouTube links can be shared on Snapchat with a visual experience.
Apart from the new YouTube sticker, users can also shoot a video, take a photo, or also use the “Creative Tools” when sharing a clip from YouTube. Simply tapping on the sticker will take the users to the video on the YouTube app or in the user’s default web browser. In other words, this integration is a quality of life change which should also improve the overall user experience as well.

OnePlus 10 Pro has finally hitten the global market: it is the first premium flagship after the “merge” with OPPO which reunited the development teams and the R&D departments of the two brands. This puts the new handset in direct competition against the OPPO Find X5 Pro which is the latest OPPO top-tier flagship. A lot of people are already considering the OP10 Pro as an affordable Find X5 Pro because it shares most of the specs sheet with the OPPO flagship but it is available at a more affordable price. But is this the truth? We hope that this comparison between the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OPPO Find X5 Pro will clear your ideas in regards.

The design is undoubtedly the most noticeable difference between the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OPPO Find X5 Pro. Actually, the Find X5 Pro comes with a more premium design. It is the only last-generation phone with a ceramic body and its look is simply stunning. The OnePlus 10 Pro is built with a glass back and an aluminum frame just like most of the other flagship phones. The OPPO Find X5 Pro is waterproof with the IP68 certification, while the OnePlus 10 Pro is not. The OP10 Pro snapped into half in a bend test made by the famous YouTuber JerryRigEverything, while the Find X5 Pro is a lot sturdier and resistant. So, if you are looking for the best design and build quality, you know what to choose.
Display
The OnePlus 10 Pro and the OPPO Find X5 Pro are equipped with exactly the same display. It is a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels, the LTPO 2.0 technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, the HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of up to 1300 nits, one billion colors, an in-display fingerprint reader, and the Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is one of the most brilliant displays on the market and it comes with great color accuracy. Both the phones feature great stereo speakers as well, and the audio quality provided is similar just like the display performance.
Specs & Software
Even the hardware department is the same: OnePlus 10 Pro and OPPO Find X5 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform which is currently the most advanced chipset by Qualcomm, as well as an amount of RAM up to 12 GB and up to 256 GB of internal storage. The OPPO Find X5 Pro has a memory configuration with 512 GB of internal storage, but it is exclusive to the Chinese market. The two flagships run Android 12 out of the box customized by ColorOS 12.1, but in the global market, the OnePlus 10 Pro gets OxygenOS 12. It is different customization from the ColorOS, but the ColorOS code base remains the same.
Camera
The most advanced camera belongs to the OPPO Find X5 Pro: both come with Hasselblad natural color calibration, but the Find X5 Pro has a superior main camera that is the Sony IMX766 sensor with a 50 MP resolution. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10 Pro has better zoom capabilities thanks to an 8 MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3.3x optical zoom. The ultrawide cameras are the same: Sony IMX766 with a 50 MP resolution, again.
Last but not least, the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OPPO Find X5 Pro feature exactly the same battery and the same charging technology. We are talking about a 5000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, and given that most of the other components are the same, expect a similar battery life too.
Price
The price of the OPPO Find X5 Pro for the European market is €1300/$1439, while the OnePlus 10 Pro starts from €899/$995 for the base configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The Find X5 Pro naturally wins the comparison, but if you do not mind having a less impressive design and build quality, as well as an inferior camera, the OP10 Pro may be enough for you.

Nothing finally has something to launch tomorrow. The brand has cryptically revealed on Twitter that it will announce “(1) more thing”, but what’s it? let’s take a look.
Nothing has been somewhat a synonym of the word loquacious. The brand has been teasing quite a few things but there’s nothing actually in the picture, as of yet. This time around, the company took to Twitter tweeting “announcement tomorrow”, and there’s also an image attached to the tweet.
The image shared showcases a smartphone’s curved sides. It has a speaker grille, USB Type-C port, microphone, and what appears to be antenna bands. There’s no headphone jack on the phone. The image has “(1) more thing” written on it, which we aren’t sure whether it is the name of the device or some left-over announcement that the company wants to reveal tomorrow.
Everything seems cryptic and takes us again on the hype train that the brand pulled off ever since its inception. However, not to forget tomorrow’s date, that’s April 1st. It could just be some random April fools joke or could actually be an announcement, who knows.
Nothing is aimed towards offering a similar experience as Apple. With the tweet, the company appears to be mimicking Apple by tweeting with the “(1) more thing” phrase. For those unaware, “one more thing” was Steve Jobs’ popular phrase from Apple events.
Nothing, a few days back, officially confirmed its future plans. There’s a Nothing smartphone in sleeves called the Nothing Phone (1) — scheduled to debut this summer. The brand is also keen on bringing its own UI called the Nothing OS offering less bloatware. It also has plans for offering an ecosystem similar to Apple and has also confirmed having its own community.
