Casio Oceanus Launches “Calm Night” Limited Edition Watches Inspired by Moonlight

Casio has announced two new models in its Oceanus Manta line, the OCW-S7000CN-1AJF and OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR. Both are inspired by the calm and quiet of a moonlit night and feature hand-cut sapphire glass bezels made using traditional Edo Kiriko craftsmanship. The watches use black DLC-coated titanium cases and bands, combining durability with a premium finish.

OCW-S7000CN-1AJF

The OCW-S7000CN-1AJF features a sapphire glass bezel with precise, hand-cut lines crafted by Edo Kiriko artisan Toru Horiguchi. The pattern, known as “Thousand Lines,” captures reflections similar to the light of the moon on a calm sea. Each cut is made by hand on hard sapphire glass, which requires long hours of grinding and finishing.

Casio OCW-S7000CN-1A

The design theme “Calm Night” is expressed through an all-black titanium body and a bezel that reflects a subtle blue depending on the viewing angle. The dial has a textured matte surface inspired by the unevenness of the moon’s surface, giving it a soft, detailed look.

The watch measures 47.5 × 42.8 × 9.8 mm and weighs 81 g. It includes Bluetooth for smartphone link, MULTIBAND6 radio time correction, and Casio’s Tough Solar power system. Other functions include world time for 27 cities, a 1-second stopwatch, full automatic calendar, and a power-saving mode. It is 10 ATM water-resistant and fitted with a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The indexes and hands feature Neobrite for low-light visibility.

Casio OCW-S7000CN-1A

The titanium band has arrow-shaped links with mirror-polished lines and a slide-adjustment clasp.

OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR

The OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR is a higher-end limited edition with only 600 units worldwide. It uses a sapphire bezel featuring the “Senjiku” pattern, also created by Toru Horiguchi. The bezel has 24 polished facets and a black-silver gradient achieved through vapor deposition, reflecting blue tones under light.

Casio OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR

The dial uses a metal base embossed with textures resembling the moon’s surface, finished with layered plating and paint for depth. The emblem on the case back features a moon motif created through laser processing and DLC coating.

This model introduces Gallium Tough Solar, a solar system derived from satellite technology that improves power generation. It uses a crescent-shaped solar cell under the date window to collect light efficiently.

Casio OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR

The watch measures 47.5 × 43 × 11.7 mm and weighs 99 g. It includes Bluetooth, MULTIBAND6, Tough Solar, and world time for 27 cities. Other features include automatic calendar, stopwatch, power-saving mode, and Neobrite hands. It is water-resistant up to 10 ATM.

The OCW-SG1000CN is made of black DLC-coated titanium with a dual-curved sapphire crystal and slide-adjustment clasp. It comes in a special box with a unique serial number.

Pricing and Availability

Both models will be released in November 2025. The OCW-S7000CN-1AJF is priced at ¥308,000 (about US$2,023), while the OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR retails for ¥682,000 (about US$4,480).

Why You Should Buy an iPhone for Gaming in 2025

Mobile gaming has evolved far beyond casual titles like Candy Crush. In 2025, it’s about console-level visuals, lightning-fast frame rates, and seamless online multiplayer. And if you’re serious about gaming on your phone, there’s a strong case to be made for choosing an iPhone. So here’s why iPhones are worth buying for mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Why you should buy iPhones for gaming
Gaming on the Apple iPhone 17 Pro

1. The Powerhouse Under the Hood

Apple’s A-series chips have consistently dominated mobile performance charts. The latest A19 Pro on the iPhone 17 Pro series continues this impressive legacy, bringing cutting edge CPU and GPU performance. What makes iPhones truly stand out isn’t just raw power, it’s sustained performance. During long gaming sessions, iPhones do get hot but still manage to squeeze out relatively stable frame rate without throttling.

This is especially true with the latest iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max which features a vapor chamber and an aluminum chassis for better thermal management. So titles like Call of Duty Mobile, Genshin Impact, and PUGB New State run at a smooth 120fps, taking advantage of the iPhone’s ProMotion displays. A good sustained performance also helps with a more consistent and hitch-free gameplay experience.

2. Software Optimization

While the hardware in an iPhone can compete with any Android flagship, the software is Apple’s secret weapon. One of the biggest advantage iPhones have is that Apple has complete control over its ecosystem. Unlike Androids, iOS is designed solely around the Cupertino based giant’s smartphone hardware. This doesn’t mean Apple is making all of its components in-house, but most of the parts are custom made for its devices.

So similar to a console, game developers often iOS versions of their titles first, ensuring better performance and stability compared to Android counterparts. In comparison, developing games for Android is somewhat similar to PC gaming due to the various different specs configuration. Meanwhile, there are only select number of iPhones out in the market, which often have similar levels of performance.

Furthermore, Apple’s Metal API also gives developers access to low-level GPU power, enabling console-quality graphics and smooth gameplay. Newer iPhones also offer a lag free experience by combining Game Mode and tighter resource management.

3. AAA Gaming on iPhones

Cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce Now have allowed smartphones to turn into handheld gaming platforms. However, this isn’t exclusive to iPhones and Android also enjoys these services. But what is limited to Apple’s devices are native AAA gaming support. Titles like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage can be played directly from your iPhones. In complete fairness, the experience still isn’t completely immersive yet but it is still quite impressive.

4. Battery Life

Gaming takes a toll on any smartphone’s battery, but the latest iPhones are getting surprisingly resilient. With efficient chipsets and advanced thermal management, the iPhone 17 Pros can easily handle long gaming sessions without overheating. Apple’s iPhones also tend to hold up better over the years, making them great long term investments.

Vivo X300 Pro launches with 200MP periscope telephoto, V3+ & VS1 imaging chips, and Dimensity 9500

Vivo is heating up the flagship race with the X300 Pro, a serious contender powered by MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9500. What’s interesting is that while the phone has just launched in China, global importers like Giztop have already started selling it for under $1,000 — and a global launch is rumored for next month. For anyone after a photography-focused flagship that doesn’t compromise on performance, design, or battery life, this might be one to watch.

The X300 Pro sits at the top of the new X300 lineup (for now), bringing clear upgrades in both design and performance. Inside, it’s powered by the Dimensity 9500 chip, which promises smooth handling of gaming, AI tasks, and everyday workloads. The phone weighs 226g and measures 161.98 × 75.48 × 7.99mm, packing a hefty 6,510mAh battery with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. It’s built to last through long days without a power outlet in sight.

The real highlight, though, is the camera setup — a showcase of Zeiss-tuned optics. The main shooter is a 50MP Sony LYT-828 sensor (1/1.28″, f/1.57, 24mm equivalent), paired with a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide (1/2.76″) and a 200MP Samsung HPB telephoto (1/1.4″) for detailed zoom shots. On the front sits another 50MP JN1 sensor (with autofocus) for selfies and video calls. Together, they push Vivo’s imaging game to new heights, especially in dynamic range and portrait processing.

Up front, there’s a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate, 1,260 × 2,800 resolution, and 1.1mm equilateral bezels, ensuring fluid and immersive visuals whether you’re gaming or streaming.

Pricing and availability:

Pricing starts at CNY 5,299 (~$743) for the 12GB + 256GB model and goes up to CNY 6,699 (~$939) for 16GB + 1TB. A premium version with satellite connectivity and a Photographer Kit costs CNY 8,299 (~$1,164). The phone will hit the shelves in the home country on October 17.

Retailers like Giztop ($939) already have imports in stock, running OriginOS 6 (Chinese variant) with Google Play pre-installed — though features like Wear OS pairing reportedly aren’t supported yet.

A global launch is expected in November. If import pricing holds steady, the X300 Pro could easily become one of the best-value flagships of 2025.

Vivo has officially launched its new X300 series in China, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most ambitious smartphone lineups of the year. The company is not only pushing the limits of smartphone imaging but also taking a bold step toward bridging the gap between Android and Apple ecosystems.

Both the X300 and X300 Pro are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, paired with Vivo’s in-house V3+ imaging chip. The duo runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, with a focus on performance, imaging, and integration.

The Vivo X300 packs a 200MP Zeiss Super Main Camera (1/1.4-inch Samsung ISOCELL HPB) with T* coating, joined by a 50MP ultra-wide lens (1/2.76-inch ISOCELL JN1) and a 50MP Zeiss APO telephoto camera (1/1.95-inch Sony LYT-602) for 3x optical zoom.

On the front, the phone features a 50MP autofocus selfie camera tuned for Zeiss Natural Color. Thanks to the V3+ NPU, the phones also support 4K 60FPS portrait video, motion tracking, and what Vivo calls “Zero-Additive” portraits, along with Live Photo bursts.

Up front, there’s a 6.31-inch BOE Q10 Plus LTPO AMOLED display with 1.05mm equilateral bezels and TÜV-certified eye protection. iQOO 15 packs an 8K VC heat sink and brings a 47% improvement in heat dissipation

In the cutthroat flagship smartphone race, keeping things cool has become just as important as raw power. That’s exactly where iQOO is aiming to make a mark with its upcoming iQOO 15, a device that’s shaping up to be a true powerhouse for gamers. The company is teasing a new and more effective cooling system designed to help the iQOO 15 get the most out of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 during sustained heavy workloads.

According to official posts on Weibo, iQOO’s highlight this year is the 8K (8000 mm²) VC Ice Dome cooling system — reportedly the largest vapor chamber ever used in an iQOO phone. For context, last year’s iQOO 13 boasts a “7K Ultra VC Cooling System”. The company says this new design brings a 47% improvement in heat dissipation compared to its predecessor, thanks to the larger VC heat sink and a double-layer high thermal conductivity graphite sheet.

iQOO product manager @戈蓝V noted that the VC heat sink of the iQOO 15 is more than three times the size of the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s.

But iQOO isn’t stopping at cooling. Every variant of the iQOO 15 will come with a factory-applied anti-reflective protective film, something the company claims is unique in the industry. It’s a premium addition aimed at improving screen visibility under bright light.

The display itself also sounds impressive. The iQOO 15 uses a 2K Samsung Everest panel built on M14 luminous material, the latest generation from Samsung that offers a 40% boost in luminous efficiency. Peak brightness figures are equally eye-catching: 1000 nits (manual), 2600 nits (full-screen), and a blinding 6000 nits (local peak) — great for HDR content or gaming outdoors.

Other features include IP-rated waterproofing, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, dual symmetrical speakers, and a 091640 X-axis vibration motor for more precise haptic feedback.

The iQOO 15 is set to debut on October 20 at 19:00 in China with the brand’s new Q3 gaming chip, and if the numbers hold true, it could become one of the most technically advanced gaming phones this year.

China’s Atomic-thin chip breakthrough could redefine device efficiency

In the push to make gadgets faster and more efficient, silicon might finally have met its match. Researchers at Fudan University in Shanghai have developed a working prototype that merges atomically thin materials with traditional silicon chips — potentially setting the stage for a new era in electronics.

Semiconductor

Led by Professor Chunsen Liu, the team managed to integrate a monolayer-thick 2D memory module directly onto a conventional silicon CMOS chip. The study, published in Nature, details how their so-called “Atom2Chip” process overcomes the fragility of 2D materials such as monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂).

To make the integration possible, the researchers created a full-stack on-chip process that bonds the 2D layer to silicon’s uneven surface without damaging it. A protective package shields the ultrathin layer, while a cross-platform interface allows smooth data transfer between the 2D circuits and standard CMOS components.

The result is a 1-Kb 2D NOR flash memory chip that isn’t just a lab demo — it’s fully operational. It runs at 5 MHz, achieves 20-nanosecond programming and erasing speeds, and operates with low energy consumption. In performance and density, it already surpasses comparable silicon-only memory, offering a glimpse of chips that could make future devices slimmer, faster, and more power-efficient.

As silicon manufacturing nears its physical limits, 2D materials like MoS₂ offer atomic-level precision for further miniaturization. Yet, efforts to merge them with silicon have long been hindered by material instability and process incompatibility. Fudan’s approach demonstrates a practical solution — even executing complex instruction-driven operations on a hybrid chip that bridges both technologies.

Although this prototype focuses on memory, the same architecture could be extended to logic gates and processors. That could eventually lead to ultra-thin wearables with long battery life or AI accelerators that stay cool under heavy workloads.

Mass production and cost scaling remain significant challenges, but the breakthrough marks a critical step toward the “angstrom era” of chip design. As global research teams race to keep Moore’s Law alive through new materials, Fudan University’s success shows that the next leap in computing might be built not just in nanometers — but in atoms.

Oppo Find X9 Pro beats Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in battery drain test

Battery life has always been a key battleground for smartphones, and Oppo’s upcoming Find X9 Pro seems ready to take that fight seriously. Ahead of its official debut on October 16, early tests suggest the device may have pulled off something impressive: lasting longer than Xiaomi’s 17 Pro Max — even though both carry the same 7,500mAh battery capacity.

According to results shared by Novice Evaluation, the Find X9 Pro managed 7 hours and 18 minutes in a continuous usage test. That puts it just behind the iQOO Z10 Turbo+ (7 hours 31 minutes, with an 8,000mAh battery) but ahead of Xiaomi’s 17 Pro Max, which clocked 6 hours and 49 minutes. Even the regular Find X9, with its smaller 7,025mAh battery, edged slightly past Xiaomi at 6 hours and 51 minutes. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro Max trailed far behind at 5 hours and 26 minutes — a reminder that Android phones still dominate in raw endurance.

A separate round of testing from WhyLab showed similar results. The Find X9 Pro reportedly lasted 9 hours and 30 minutes, compared to the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s 8 hours and 24 minutes — a difference of over an hour. What’s interesting is that the Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, while Oppo’s flagship runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500. It’s possible that Oppo’s software tuning, particularly with ColorOS 16’s power management, is playing a big role in the results.

Users on X also took notice. One post summed up the sentiment well: “Both have the same 7500mAh Battery & Xiaomi has 8e Gen 5 which is more efficient than 9500 and still performs worse. This is actually dependent on how the software is being Optimized.”

Of course, these are still pre-release results, and variations in testing conditions or upcoming HyperOS updates could shift the balance. But Oppo’s showing here is impressive nonetheless.
