The first feature that the video talks about is the Lunar Ring. it looks like a colorful RGB LED ring that can glow for notifications. The LED ring is placed on the rear side of the phone.

The rear camera system can be used for snapping selfies with the second display acting as a viewfinder. The handset does not feature a selfie shooter on the front. Realme U1 vs Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite vs Honor 10 Lite: Specs Comparison

Oppo just announced another smartphone from its sub-brand: Realme U1. A device which comes with an amazing quality-price ratio and a brand new upper-midrange chipset: the Helio P70. Comparing it with the latest mid-rangers from other Chinese companies is definitely a good way to establish if this device is worth the money asked to get it and if it will succeed. So here we go with a comparison between Realme U1, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, and Honor 10 Lite.

Design

Most of the actual Chinese midrange smartphones have many things in common when it comes to aesthetics. They often come with glass backs, notched displays and flagship-like looks even though their price is affordable. In this trio, the most beautiful one, in my opinion, is Honor 10 Lite because of its smaller notch, a very high screen-to-body ratio and its availability in two different gradient color variants.

Display

You should not pay much attention to the display when you are about to choose a midrange smartphone because they always have more or less the same quality. Given the similar display size and viewing quality, it is a draw. Whatever you choose, you will get a phone with a sufficient but not so exciting screen.

Specs & Software

Given that it comes with the latest and most powerful SoC by MediaTek, the new Helio P70, Realme U1 is definitely the most interesting device. Given that Helio P60 was very close to Snapdragon 660 and Kirin 710 in terms of performance, the new Helio P70 should provide better performance than its rivals from Qualcomm and Huawei. But not that there is not a 6 GB RAM version for the Realme U1, while the other two handsets also come in the 6/64 and 6/128 GB configurations. Further, there is to mention that Honor 10 Lite is the only one to come with Android Pie out of the box. And it also features the new GPU Turbo 2.0 technology which guarantees a big performance increase with games.

Camera

If you want a superior rear camera, get the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite (Honor 10 Lite is very close in terms of photo quality). But if you are looking for an amazing selfie camera, go for the Realme U1 as it features one of the best front cameras in the market and it is able to shoot detailed selfies even in low-light conditions. On the other hand, at least on the paper, the rear dual camera of the Realme U1 is disappointing.

Battery

These devices are packed with batteries which have similar capacities, so it is not easy to understand which one will last more on the paper. We will have to test the Realme U1 personally in order to establish if its bigger battery will last more, especially because we never tested the efficiency of the new MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. So, for now, we can not talk about battery life.

Price

Oppo Realme U1 just debuted in India with a listing price starting from €150/$170, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is available globally and it costs about €230/$260, and Honor 10 Lite was launched with a €210/$240 price tag. On the paper, Realme U1 is the most convincing one, but in order to give a definitive opinion, we have to test it on our own to evaluate the performance of the new Helio P70 chipset, the camera quality, and the battery life.

Honor Band 4 to launch in India tomorrow alongside Honor 8C smartphone

A few months ago, in September, Honor had launched the Honor Band 4 fitness tracker in China. Now, the company has confirmed that the fitness tracker will soon make its way to the Indian market.

Honor has started teasing the launch of the fourth-generation fitness band and while no specific date has been revealed, its likely to get launched tomorrow alongside the Honor 8C.

For those who are unaware, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has scheduled a launch event in India tomorrow for the launch of Honor 8C smartphone. The phone was originally launched in China earlier this year in August as a successor of the Honor 7C.

Honor Band 4

Coming back to the Honor Band 4, the fitness tracker comes with a 0.95-inch OLED display and a 2.5D glass on top. Just like the Xiaomi’s Mi Band 3, the Honor Band 4 is also water resistant up to 50 meters and also recognises Swim strokes.

It also supports functions such as sleep tracking, exercise tracking, pedometer, continuous heart rate monitoring with Huawei TruSeen 2.0 technology, and sedentary reminder. In addition to tracking activities, the device also shows notifications on the OLED display and even offers an incoming call-mute function.

The device also comes with built-in NFC support, meaning that it can also be used to make payments. Under the hood, the fitness tracker is powered by a 100mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver standby time of up to 14 days.

As for the pricing, we’ll have to wait for the company to make an official announcement. In China, the Honor Band 4 is priced at 199 Yuan, which roughly converts to Rs. 2,000 or $29. Last year, the company had launched the Honor Band 3 in India with a price tag of Rs. 2,799 (~$40).

Huawei Nova 4 makes appearance at brand ambassador’s birthday

Huawei has not been specific about when the Nova 4 will launch in December but it appears it isn’t concerned about hiding the phone from the eyes of the public. Today, the Nova 4 made an appearance at the birthday party of the Nova series brand ambassador.

Chinese singer and member of musical pop group TFBoys, Jackson Yee, is a brand ambassador for Huawei’s Nova series and today is his eighteenth birthday. At the elaborate birthday party which had lots of guests present and was live-streamed, Huawei’s upcoming Nova 4 also made an appearance.

Images taken from the livestream show the phone’s front and the hole in its display. As you can see, the hole which houses the front-facing camera is on the same line as the network and notification icons. The position of the hole should be less distracting compared to a notch but the phone’s software should behave the same way it does for notched phones i.e black bars at the sides when watching a video.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Gradient color back panel is actually a transparent glass panel!

Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 8 Lite alongside the Mi 8 Pro on September 19 with the two models coming out with premium designs. While the Mi 8 Pro is postured as a flagship continuation of the Mi 8, the Mi 8 Lite has a mid-range posture and that is reflected in the affordable pricing it adopts. The Mi 8 Lite also comes out as the first Xiaomi model to feature a gradient glass design. It comes in Dream Blue, Twilight Gold and Deep Space Gray colour variants. All three use the gradient colour hue.Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite

Xiaomi has now revealed an interesting detail of the Mi 8 Lite rear glass panel. According to a short video shared on video sharing platform Miaopai, the Mi 8 Lite rear panel is actually a transparent glass panel when removed from the device. This leaves us wondering how the transparent glass was able to look like coloured glass when adorned on the Mi 8. The Chinese company explained that the glass has a number of tiny coatings, forming a nano-scale of different thickness on the surface. This design relies on the refractive properties of glass such that when the light hit the glass, the rays get scattered using optical properties such as interference, absorption and diffraction to give us the gradient hue. When in the open, it is a clear transparent glass but when place on top of a dark cardboard sheet, the Blue gradient hue comes through. This same principle applies for all three gradient variants the Mi 8 Lite is available in.

If you don’t like these phones because they have a notch, then you may be comforted to know that HMD Global will not release another phone with a notch. The info comes from Twitter account Nokia anew (@nokiamobileru) which has posted details about Nokia phones that turned out to be true.

According to the account, the Nokia 6.2, which should be the successor to the Nokia 6.1/Nokia 6 (2018) will not have a notch. Instead, it will feature an “interesting solution” as the account puts it. The rest of the tweet says “Thus Nokia 8.1 can complete the Nokia “notch parade” in the Nokia line-up”.
