LG has so far released LG V30S ThinQ, G7 ThinQ and V35 ThinQ and the company is now prepping on the launch of its next V-series phone – the LG V40 ThinQ. Fresh information reveals that the South Korean company will be releasing the LG V40 ThinQ in the market after the Apple debut its new iPhones. Fresh renders of the smartphone have surfaced to reveal its design.

The LG V40 ThinQ renders reveal that it is fitted with a notched display. However, the black bars present on the either side of the notch suggests that the phone will come with an option to hide it. The notch of the V40 ThinQ is equipped with dual selfie cameras, an earpiece and some other sensors.

Moving to the glass rear of the LG V40 ThinQ, it feature horizontally arranged triple rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner. An LED flash is placed on the right side of the triple camera system. The bottom edge of the V40 ThinQ features a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-C port and an external speaker. The left side of the phone features volume up and down buttons followed by a dedicated key for accessing Google Assistant. Its right edge is equipped with a power key and SIM card tray.

The renders leak did not reveal any information on it specifications. It is speculated that it would be featuring a P-OLED screen, Snapdragon 845 SoC, Android 9 Pie OS and quad-DAC.

According to a South Korean publication, the G7 ThinQ smartphone has encountered lackluster sales as the company could sell only half the number of 3 million internal sales goal. It is speculated that LG is readying 500,000 units of V40 ThinQ for the initial sale. The smartphone may hit the market in the first week of October or the 10^th of the same month.

The publication has also claimed that LG is working on the LG V45 to launch its first 5G smartphone in 2019. The handset may borrow specs from G7 ThinQ and V40 ThinQ in a bid to reduce expenses. The V45 ThinQ may feature the same display panel and camera modules that are arriving on the upcoming V40 ThinQ.

The report also claims that LG was working two flagship phones with Phoenix and Falcon codenames. Among the two, Falcon phone is said to be inferior than Phoenix. Since LG reportedly failed to convince carriers to sell the Falcon model, the company sold it to Google. The Pixel 3 XL that has appeared in the recent leaks could be the Falcon phone made by LG.

Xiaomi reports 68% revenue jump in Q2 2018, ships 32 million smartphones

Xiaomi has shared its financials for the three-month period of Q2 2018, where the company has reported a significant jump in its revenues and a surprise profit. This comes on the hill of Xiaomi’s Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO) last month.

The China-based company has reported a profit of 14.6 billion yuan (approximately $2.1 billion) in the second quarter, a significant jump compared to the last year when the company reported 11.9 billion yuan.

The company says that its sales grew 68.3 percent to 45.23 billion yuan, up from 26.9 billion yuan a year earlier. The growth in sales for Xiaomi can be attributed to the higher smartphone sales volume and higher average selling price for these devices.

Xiaomi, which is mainly known for its budget smartphones, recorded revenue of 30.5 billion yuan for its smartphone business in the second quarter, a surge of 58.7 percent compared to the same period last year. The company claimed that it managed total shipments of 32 million smartphone units in Q2 2018.

However, analysts believe that the Chinese company is eyeing for the Internet-of-Things (IoT) market. Xiaomi reported that revenue from its IoT products, which includes smart TV sets and laptop computers, increased 104.3 percent to 10.4 billion yuan. Further, it adds that revenue from internet services, which include online advertising, rose 63.6 percent to 4 billion yuan.

The company reports that 36 percent of the revenue comes from international markets. Its worldwide growth is 151 percent on a yearly basis and while the increase comes predominantly from India, the company also reports about progress in Indonesia and European countries.

In line with its dream of dominating the global markets, Xiaomi recently launched a new sub-brand name POCO in India and POCOPHONE globally. The brand will focus on premium affordable devices to take on the likes of OnePlus and Huawei’s Honor. Yesterday, it launched the first smartphone under this new brand — POCO F1, which is touted as the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone, with price starting at Rs. 19,999, roughly $286.

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are expected to go official in early October, but multiple leaks have revealed plenty of information on the Pixel 3 XL. Rozetked, a Russian website and tech pundit Wylsacom have shared new photos of the Pixel 3 XL to reveal its design from all angles. Also, the specifications of the smartphone have also leaked through the AIDA utility app.

Hate the notch? Various smartphone manufacturers have tried to offer customers with notched phones with slight variation in the design of the notch. Smartphones like Essential Phone, OPPO F9 and OPPO R17 have smaller notch whereas some phones like Xiaomi Poco F1 and Mi 8 have large-sized as they are equipped with IR components for infrared face unlock. The hands-on photos of the Pixel 3 XL shown below reveals that it is fitted with a fat notched screen.

The size of the notch is big because it is packed with dual front-facing cameras and a speaker apart from other sensors. Well, compared to other notched phones, the big notch of the Pixel 3 XL makes it appear less attractive. Also, the bottom bezel that houses the second speaker is quite thick. A recently released poster by ZTE had hinted that it will be debuting the Axon 9 smartphone through its press event on Aug. 30 at IFA 2018 in Berlin, Germany. The Chinese manufacturer has now confirmed through another poster that it will be debuting Axon 9 Pro soon later this month. It has also revealed that the smartphone will be sporting a design that is very similar to the Apple iPhone X.

Few months ago, ZTE spotted trademarking Axon 9 and Axon 9 Pro monikers. Moreover, earlier rumors had claimed that the Axon 9 would be sporting an 18:9 aspect ratio display. ZTE is yet to confirm on the existence of the Axon 9, but the Axon 9 Pro poster reveals it will be sporting a notched display design and vertical dual cameras like the iPhone X. Hence, it seems that the Nokia X7 will be sporting the same front design as Nokia X5 and X6 phones. The rear design of the phone is still a mystery, but it could be usual affair with dual cameras and fingerprint scanner.

As of this writing, there is no information on the specifications of the Nokia X7. In June, popular tipster Roland Quandt had shared some details about an upcoming Nokia phone that is codenamed as Phoenix. Snapdragon 845’s successor with 5G capabilities is being tested by smartphone OEMs

Various smartphone manufacturers have launched Snapdragon 845 powered phones this year. Qualcomm is expected to announce the successor chipset for SD845 by the end of the year. It is speculated to be built with 7nm manufacturing process by TSMC. Even though the rumor mill is referring to the successor of SD845 as Snapdragon 855, recent reports have claimed that Qualcomm may adopt a different naming scheme for it. The U.S.-based chip maker has confirmed that it has already provided samples of the upcoming 7nm chipset to its OEM partners.

Since the smartphone OEMs have received samples of the upcoming 7nm Qualcomm chipset, they can now test and build news phones powered by the new SoC. As mentioned above, Qualcomm is expected to announce the new chipset by December. Hence, phones are powered by it are expected to go official by early 2019.

The smaller sized chipset that is based on 7nm architecture will deliver better performance and consume less power than Snapdragon 845. However, as of this writing, the exact specifications of the new chipset are not known. However, what is known about it is that it will be pair with Snapdragon X50 5G modem which means powered by the successor of Snapdragon 845 will be able to support 5G connectivity. According to Qualcomm, it is the first 5G-capable mobile platform for premium tier smartphones.

Various smartphone makers are prepping up to launch 5G phones next year. Hence, it appears that the successors models of the flagship phones that have released this year may offer 5G connectivity. Elephone PX pop up dual camera setup components revealed

Vivo Nex brought forward the concept of pop up cameras in order to completely remove the bezels around the display. OPPO Find X also incorporates a very similar concept and now, Elephone is trying out its luck with an even bigger pop up camera setup. Unlike the Vivo Nex which features just a single selfie camera in its pop up housing, the upcoming Elephone PX smartphone is said to feature dual pop up cameras. Now we have managed to get our eyes on the component that makes this setup possible.

The component shown in the image above is said to guide the housing to pop up and down smoothly. We have already seen a video featuring the dual camera pop up setup and also the triple cameras on the PX. The part that looks like a screw will move the housing up and down. Considering that there will be two cameras on board, the motor has to be pretty powerful to push it up quickly.

A render of the Elephone PX is also seen sporting a triple camera setup at the back along with a fingerprint sensor. The best part about the phone will be its full screen display, which is clearly seen in the render above. Despite the innovative dual camera pop up setup for selfies and the triple camera setup at the back, we will have to wait and see whether their performances are flagship worthy.

ASUS ROG full TENAA listing reveals 4GB, 6GB RAM versions, possibly with cheaper pricing

A couple of days back, we spotted the ASUS ROG phone on TENAA but we couldn’t lay our hands on the complete listing except the photos. The complete listing has now been spotted and it contains some interesting details.

First off, the ASUS ROG is listed with the model number ASUS Z01QD. The model has the same 2.96GHz clock speed as the one unveiled in Taiwan. That is, it features an overclocked Snapdragon 845 chipset. Perhaps, the most interesting aspect is the memory versions. The ROG appears on TENAA with three different RAM versions; 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM, whereas the gaming smartphone was unveiled in only 8GB RAM and 128/512GB storages. While the two storage options will be available across the board, buyers will get the option of deciding whether to go for the lesser 4GB RAM version or the high-end one with 8GB RAM. In addition, the model is listed with a slightly smaller 3850mAh battery which is lower than the 4000mAh battery on the model announced at COMPUTEX 2018 in June.

ASUS is yet to put the ROG gaming phone on sale and so, the price is still unknown but is rumoured to start at around $900. Vivo X23 official video ads confirms dual rear cameras and water-drop notch, more official images too

The Vivo X23 was expected to launch on the 20th of August but it didn’t. Let’s just say the Jovi assistant is a bare-faced liar. Ahead of the release which is still pretty much unknown, Vivo has released two video ads for the device and a couple of promotional images.

The video ads do nothing more than confirming the design of the phone. The first one shows the phone in Phantom Violet with a color gradient finish and dual rear cameras. Unfortunately, it only shows the back of the phone.

The second video shows the Vivo X23 in both Phantom Violet and Magic Night Blue. Apart from the rear design as revealed by the first video, this one shows the front and confirms it has a water-drop notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Vivo has also released new official renders of the phone that shows off the two colors the phone will come in. Vivo has named the color gradient appearance 3D Phantom Aurora. The phone can take on different colors depending on the angle light hits it.

Chuwi Hi9 Plus will take on the Huawei Mediapad M5 Pro

Huawei’s Mediapad M5 Pro is a pretty good tablet featuring a large 10.8-inch display and a handy M-Pen which supports 4096 pressure levels. But the tablet isn’t cheap and if you are out to buy one for yourself, you’ll have to shell out well over $450, just for its Wi-Fi variant. This is probably why Chuwi has decided to release a Mediapad M5 Pro rival, the Chuwi Hi9 Plus. Chuwi’s CEO even went on to say “The purpose of this tablet launch is to compete with HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro”. So, its clear that the Hi9 Plus will take on this large screen Huawei tablet.

We have got little details about the Chuwi Hi9 Plus so far and they are not really that significant. What we know is that the Hi9 Plus’ dimensions will be as follows: 266.2 x 177 x 8.1mm and it will weigh around 500 grams. This doesn’t get us excited about the tablet, especially since the M5 Pro is smaller in dimensions. However, these dimensions could hint that the Hi9 Plus is as large as the M5 Pro or maybe even bigger. Further, at just 500 grams, the tablet will be easy to carry around wherever you go. Further, it will feature a magnetic keyboard dock that will instantly transform it into a laptop.

Considering that the Hi9 Plus is taking on the M5 Pro model, we are keen to see whether it will come with a pressure sensitive stylus. The Huawei tablet comes with an M-Pen that supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, so a stylus could be a significant addition to the Hi9 Plus tablet. LTE support would be another feature that we expect on the upcoming Chuwi tablet.

There’s no doubt that Chuwi tablets are extremely affordable. If the company manages to price it even half of that of the Mediapad M5 Pro, the upcoming tablet could be a really interesting option for large screen lovers.

No more details for now. But it is being said that the Hi9 Plus will launch sometime in September. Let’s wait and watch.

Official render reveals Galaxy J2 Core color variants

Samsung will most likely soon officially announce its first Android Go device, the Galaxy J2 Core. The device has been in the news for a while with live photos appearing online and revealing it will have Samsung’s Experience UI and not stock Android. Its user manual was also seen online last week. Now an official render has surfaced which reveals all the possible color variants the phone will come in.

Based on the image, the Galaxy J2 Core will come in black, gold, pale blue, deep blue, and violet. The phone will have a single rear camera with an LED flash below it. There is also a slit on the side which is probably an outlet for the speaker.

The leaked manual revealed the Galaxy J2 Core will have a removable back cover and a removable battery too. It will also have support for two SIM cards and a MicroSD card. A Geekbench listing from a couple of months ago also revealed the phone will have 1GB of RAM and be powered by the Exynos 7570 processor.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 officially launched in India, price starts at Rs. 67,900 ($972)

Earlier this month, Samsung launched its flagship smartphone for the second half of the year — Galaxy Note 9. Just a day after the announcement, the company started taking pre-orders of the device in India.

Today, the South Korean giant has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in the Indian market. It comes in three colors — Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Metallic Copper. The 6GB RAM model costs Rs. 67,900 ($972) while the 8GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 84,900 ($1,215).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It carries the same 1440 x 2960 pixels screen resolution, is HD10 compliant and also supports Always On Display. The display is also protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.

It is powered by the company’s own Exynos 9810 processor. In some regions, the handset comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone comes in two variants — one packing 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and another with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

Coming to the camera department, there’s a 12-megapixel primary camera with f/2.4-f/1.5 variable aperture and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front side, it comes equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens.

The device is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. It also comes with stereo speakers tuned by AKG, and Dolby Atmos sound. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5 (LE up to 2Mbps), GPS with GLONASS, USB 3.1, NFC, and MST.

The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with the company’s own Samsung Experience custom interface. It is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery and comes with support for fast charging both on wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging.

In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with an improved S Pen which is the first Bluetooth-enabled digital pen. It can also be used as a remote shutter for the camera with a range of 10 meters. It has a battery power of about 30 minutes and can withstand up to 200 clicks.

The S Pen now has support for three inputs — short press, long press, and double press. The company says that it can be recharged in just 40 seconds by simply placing it in its holster cramp on the side of the phone.

OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T get Project Treble support in latest OxygenOS update

Google announced Project Treble last year as a way to make it easier for manufacturers to update their devices. It is supposed to reduce the duration between the launch of a new version of Android and when the update becomes available for a phone. It has also found usefulness by custom ROM makers who can now quickly whip up custom ROM versions (Generic System Image) of the latest version of Android in such a short time.

While Google has made it compulsory for all devices launching with Android Oreo and above to have Project Treble support right out of the box, some manufacturers have decided to not include it when updating older devices to Android Oreo since the latter isn’t compulsory.

Last year, OnePlus announced that its current phones(OnePlus 3/3T, OnePlus 5/5T) would get updated to Android Oreo but won’t support Project Treble which caused fans to launch a petition. Two months ago, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T devices running OxygenOS open beta received Project Treble support.

If you own the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, then you should know that the latest stable version of OxygenOS (version 5.1.5) brings full Project Treble support. The changelog doesn’t actually mention it but you can confirm by installing one of the numerous apps on the Play Store such as Treble Checker to know if it does. Those who have received the update have already confirmed it.

We have seen several high-quality products under the brand like the 90 Minutes jacket, 90 Minutes backpack etc. Perhaps, the most popular product from the brand is the 90 Minutes spinner wheel luggage. The company even announced a 90Fun Puppy1 Robotic Suitcase at CES 2018. The latest in its lineup is a 90 Minutes Smart Unlock Suitcase with fingerprint unlock technology.

The 90 Minutes Smart Unlock Suitcase differs from the previous models in the methods through which it can be opened and closed. It adopts the fingerprint technology provided by Swedish FPC company as well as the TSA customs lock with single-button linkage structure and biometric identification. Five different fingerprints can be stored which would have access to unlock the luggage.
