MSTAR S700 Scores Well Above 45K on AnTuTu

MSTAR S700 recently went on sale on a number of leading e-commerce websites. Initially the device was available for purchase for as low as $139, which was a steal price. However, now you can buy the device for $169, which is still a great price considering the specs on the device.

mstar s700 antutu 01

The MSTAR S700 is powered by the octa-core 64-bit MT6752 processor which is known to perform well. As a result, it wasn’t a surprise when we found that the phone scored well over 45K on AnTuTu. To be precise, the S700 got 45220 which is much greater than the Snapdragon powered OnePlus One and even other high-end flagships like Mate 7. Clearly, the new processor manages to outrank many great Snapdragon powered flagships.

mstar s700 antutu 02

Other specs include 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is 13MP camera at the back along with 5MP front shooter. A 5.5-inch 720p display lies on the front. As for the battery, the phone will come with a large 3000mAh capacity battery pack, enough for a day’s usage. Finally, a rear placed fingerprint sensor and a Android 5.0 makes this phone one of the best value for money devices in the market right now.

New Zeaplus M7 Coming Mid June (UPDATED WITH NEW IMAGES)

zeaplus-m7-001

There is another flagship phone coming to the market mid June, this time from Zeaplus.

The phone specs look good as does the styling featuring 2.5d front glass and metal chassis with rounded corners that follow the screens radius, we are yet to see the rear of the phone but hopefully it will have clean smooth lines like the front.

I have just received more images that show the back to be textured with a nice curvature that looks like it will make the phone very easy to hold without fear of dropping it whilst encasing the 3800mAh battery.

The more I see of this phone the more I am liking the styling, its great to see that China phone companies are now giving us the larger batteries that we have been asking for without sacrificing style.

m7-003

As yet pricing is not known but hopefully this will be available for $220 or less as Zeaplus are very keen on their smartwatch pricing.

The specifications are as follows (this will be updated as we find out more)

5.5”  FHD screen, Mediatek  MTK MT6752 cpu

Android Lollipop (out of the box)

13mp Sony IMX135 rear camera

Fingerprint Scanner

3800mAh battery

The Beautiful Doogee F3 Images And Specs Leaked: MT6753 + 2.5D Glass + Back Cover Options

Doogee is now an established affordable smartphone maker and we have seen a lot of  interesting offerings from the company in the past few years. Today, we have come across a huge leak about the upcoming Doogee flagship smartphone, the Doogee F3, which will be the company’s flagship for the year 2015.

doogee-f3-1

From the pictures leaked, we can see that the Doogee F3 is one of the best looking handsets from the company till date. The company has taken some inspiration from existing flagships in the market and then have made its own set of additions. So, the phone features a beautiful 2.5D glass up front on its 5-inch display with a special cutting metal frame around it.

doogee-f3-2

But what’s interesting is that the company will be offering multiple back cover material options including bamboo and wood apart from the standard gorilla glass cover. This seems to be a great way to attract customers who would like to  customize their smartphones. Overall, the pictures show a premium and well built device with a smooth design.

doogee f3

As for the specs, our source says that it will have upper-mid range configuration. So, the Doogee F3 will come with the new MT6753 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz along with multiple RAM options. So, users can choose between 1GB to 4GB RAM for their device. Naturally, the price will differ according to the RAM configuration.

doogee f3

The best part about the device is that sports a compact 5-inch display. Our readers were always wondering whether they would ever see a worthy 5-inch flagship and looks like Doogee F3 is built exactly for these kind of users. Moreover, the 2.5D glass on top of the display up front and the possible full HD 1080p resolution will make sure that the phone’s display is top quality. What’s more, it is said that the F3 will have just 1mm bezels, making the display even more attractive.

As for the camera, our source says that the phone will feature a 13MP shooter (either Sony IMX214 or Samsung ISOCELL Sensor). Up front, expect an 8MP OV camera. The battery should be around 3150mAh which is pretty decent for a flagship device. But, it will most likely support fast charge. There will be 16GB storage on board with a MicroSD card slot (most likely!).

For software, Doogee is said to be porting MIUI 6, CM11, CM12.1 ROM for this device, even ubuntu for the F3. But the basic model will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. There will be two SIM card slots (One Micro, One Regular) and will support dual SIM dual standby. Naturally, being a high-end flagship, the phone supports all 4G LTE network bands. Exact supported bands will most likely be revealed later.

Doogee F3 is also said to come with a special voice control feature to open up preset apps right from standby. It will be available in two different colors, pearl white and ocean blue and will most likely launch by August 2015.

Well, this was an extensive leak about the upcoming Doogee flagship, but there are still some questions that needs to be answered like the supported 4G bands as well as the pricing. Still, from what we have heard till now, the Doogee F3 looks like a great device, with a solid design and powerful specs.

So, do you like the leaked Doogee F3 model?

geekbuying-ef134eca-b82c-4834-ae1e-e50b0ffe9d7ageekbuying-12e6cc19-bd45-4421-8da1-6742e7cdcb7d

Dealing with Too Many Different Power Plugs? Xiaomi Power Strip Review [VIDEO]

Are you travelling somewhere abroad and need to bring some of your devices with you? That’s all right, just don’t forget packing a few adapters in your bag. And… if you purchase some new gadgets, you may need to buy a few more power adapters once you come back home and… you will be all set. Well, kind of.
However, is there any other way of doing that? Do you really need to deal with all that mess?
VIDEO

I’ve never thought that I would ever review a power strip, but the one made by the Chinese tech company Xiaomi is a bit different. I found it useful to deal with tons of cables and different power plugs.
screenshot_2015-06-01_155012
It turns out that it has 3 high-power USB charging ports, which let you forget about your smartphone’s charging brick. In addition, you get 3 almost universal power ports. Well, when I say almost, I mean that the power strip can be used with EU, USA and Australian power plugs. However, for some mysterious reason, the Xiaomi forgot about the UK users.
screenshot_2015-06-01_155100
All of the power, which is coming through the power strip is enhanced with some smart charging, high quality anti-short circuit and other top-notch electrical security chips, so you can be sure it is 100% safe.
screenshot_2015-06-01_155900
On the right side you can find a convenient power on/offswitch, which also has an embedded LED light. On the bottom, there are silicone pads to prevent the device from slipping.
screenshot_2015-06-01_155747
All these features are packed in a quality white plastic shell and it has a 1.5m power cord with a nice looking Xiaomi power plug.
All in all, the Xiaomi power strip is not a device you can’t live without, but it can be definitely useful while travelling or using gadgets with different power plugs at home. It lets you get rid of that annoying pile of cables and power adapters or at least reduce the amount of them.
The only shortcoming is that it does not support UK plugs, which is a shame. If you want to check out this product, I will leave a link to it in the description below this video. For a device, which doesn’t even cost 20 USD, it looks to be like a great deal.

ASUS unveils the ZenFone Selfie with 13MP Laser AutoFocus Front Camera

It looks like ASUS is taking some inspiration from Samsung. The company has announced a number of new and interesting smartphones in the market with plenty of variants of each of those devices. Now, ASUS has just unveiled another brand new smartphone, this time at Computex, Taipei called as the ASUS ZenFone Selfie.

zenfone selfie 01

The phone features upper mid-range specs, however like its name suggests, the highlight of the device is going to be its powerful front facing camera. ASUS has fitted a 13MP 1/3.2″ Toshiba camera with Laser Auto Focus (Yes, its the same tech that debuted with LG G3) on both the front and the back. So, users can now take amazing selfies and even group selfies, thanks to its 88 degrees wide angle front facing shooter. What’s more the field of view increases to 140 degress when you are using the Panorama mode.

zenfone selfie 07

Other specs are also pretty impressive. The ZenFone Selfie comes with a full HD 5.5-inch 1080p resolution display along with a mid-range Snapdragon 615 processor. While the company hasn’t been clear about the RAM on board, it looks like users can choose between a 2GB and a 3GB model. The dimensions of the device are as follow: 156.5 x 77.2 x 10.8 and it weighs around 170 grams. As for the software, the Selfie phone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

The phone will be available in seven different shades namely black, white, blue, gold, aqua blue, pink and red. ASUS has not yet announced the international availability of the device, but expect it to launch in at least a few neighboring Asian countries in the coming months.

Zeaplus M7 Is Here With MT6752, 3GB RAM and 3800mAh battery!

Zeaplus has been slowly expanding its product portfolio since the early months of 2015. Now, the company is keen to announce its brand new smartphone, the Zeaplus M7 that turns out to be the best phone from this Chinese maker till date.

zeaplus-m7-001

The Zeaplus M7 attempts to do the exact same thing that competitors have tried in the past few months. Bring in the super fast octa-core MT6752 chipset with 3GB RAM onboard to provide a smooth user experience. You get a full HD 5.5-inch display up front which should be able to show images and videos in crystal clear quality.

Other specs are also quite impressive. So, you get fingerprint recognition on the device for secured unlocking. There seems to be a trend among emerging phone companies to incorporate a fingerprint sensor on higher mid-range devices, so this move doesn’t come as a surprise. But Zeaplus has smartly added a large 3800mAh battery, much bigger than competitors to give the M7 an edge over others.

Finally, the phone will come with a Sony IMX135 13MP sensor and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. It will support dual SIM dual standby and for LTE, the phone supports Band 1/3/7/20.

Unfortunately, the company is yet to reveal a pricetag for the Zeaplus M7. However, considering the fact that its previous products have been quite affordable, we have a feeling it should be quite close to or even lower than competitors like the Elephone P7000.

We expect more details in the coming days as the phone is said to be launching this month itself.

Teaser Confirms Honor 7 Launch On June 8

Huawei was said to release its update to the Honor series this month. And looks like the rumors were bang on target as earlier today, Huawei unveiled a brand new teaser for the launch of a new Honor product on June 8. Given that its almost a year since we saw the Huawei Honor 6 smartphone, its more than likely that we will see the successor of the popular Honor 6, namely, the Honor 7 on that day.

huawei honor 7 teaser

The teaser comes with a famous quote from Albert Einstein, “Imagination is Everything”. Unfortunately, apart from the blue spiral shaped image and the above mentioned tagline, the company has not yet revealed anything about the features of the device.

However, like always, we have already seen possible specs and images of the device, thanks to the numerous leaks online. Recent leaks have revealed that Honor 7 will feature a 5-inch full HD display with Kirin 935 processor. There will be two different versions of the device, one high-end and the other low-end.

Both feature Kirin 935 chipset but will differ in terms of memory capacity. The high-end version comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the low-end model features 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. Other possible specs include a 3280mAh battery, 13MP camera with OIS, and Android 5.1 Lollipop version. There could be fingerprint sensor too, but at the moment, we are not sure of that.

huawei-honor7-plus-leak-back-picture-01

As for the built, the Honor 7 is expected to come with a metal body similar to the Mate 7 design. This will be a deviation from the traditional plastic design of the Honor series flagships.

Anyways, we expect a lot more information to come up in the next few days, so stay tuned!

Nubia X8 Leaked With A Full Metal Body and Rear Fingerprint Sensor

ZTE has been busy for the past few months, unveiling three new devices in its premium Nubia lineup. We have already seen the beautiful and bezelless ZTE Nubia Z9 along with two other devices namely Nubia Z9 Mini and Z9 Max.

image

After seeing these many releases, we thought that the company would be silent for at least a couple months, but it looks like there’s another product in the Nubia lineup that will launch soon. Earlier today, we came across several pictures of the ZTE Nubia X8 phablet. The leaked image revealed a full metal premium body with a fingerprint sensor just below the rear camera unit.

nubia x8 02
To be honest, we had already seen these images a few months back, but they were assumed to be of the Z9 series. But as you may know, the Z9 series phones came with a different design, which means, this could be another Nubia product, possibly the Nubia X8.

The Nubia X8 is expected to feature a massive 6-inch display with the body dimensions of 163 x 75 x 7.9mm and weighing just about 201 grams. Given the large size, the battery is expected to be of 5120mAh capacity. Other specs include 4GB RAM, 32GB and 64GB memory options.

We haven’t heard any official news from the company as of yet, so its best to wait for some more concrete information in the next few weeks.

Meizu M1 Note 2 Priced at 1299 Yuan on JD.com

JD had officially confirmed the launch of the much talked about Meizu Blue Charm Note 2 aka Meizu M1 Note 2 in China on June 2. It looks like the phone has been listed on the e-commerce site today for a price tag of 1299 Yuan.

meizu blue charm note 2 listing

Yes, contrary to earlier rumors which said that the phone will most likely retain the same 999 Yuan price tag as the Meizu M1 Note, it looks like this phone will be priced 300 Yuan more. While JD.com is already accepting registrations for the said device, the phone will start selling only from June 18. The product page for the Blue Charm Note 2 adds that the final price may change after the official announcement on June 2. So we are not yet sure whether the company is launching the device for 1299 Yuan.

meizu blue charm note 2

Unfortunately, we are still not sure about the specs of the device.  Geekbench listing has revealed that the phone will most likely come with the new MT6753 octa-core processor with additional network connectivity, with 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM. While the listing says that the phone will feature a 4.6-inch 1080p display, from the pictures leaked recently, it looks like the new Blue Charm device will retain the same 5.5-inch screen as its sister Meizu M1 Note model.

Also, its almost confirmed that the phone will feature a physical oval shaped home button with a metal frame and a plastic back. Also, the power is moved to the right side, according to a teaser image from the company. The official launch is tomorrow, so we will finally know the full details about the device pretty soon.

Stay tuned for more info.

Landvo S6 Review. The Best Galaxy S6 Clone?

It is you personal choice whether you like the clone devices or not. Some say that it is a shame to produce one, while others believe that this is a way to go as there is no point in spending hundreds of dollars for a premium flagship device. Let’s not go too deep into this as we have a new review ready. This time around we are looking at the Landvo S6, which is a Samsung Galaxy S6 wannabe device. Is it any good? Let’s find out.

We want to thank Giztop.com for sending this smartphone for a review!

UNBOXING

img_9186

The device comes in a plain box and there is nothing to talk about. However, considering a very low price tag of this product, the presentation is quite good.
The packaging contents include the smartphone, 1A of power charging brick along with the tangle-free USB cable, SIM ejector tool and a screen protector. Overall, it is a fairly standard packaging.
DESIGN
img_9244
The Landvo S6 has almost identical design to the Samsung Galaxy S6, but differs significantly on the inside. To begin with, it has 5 inches 720p display.
img_9245
On the bottom of the device you can find a physical home button, which has a great tactile response. However, there is no embedded fingerprint scanner.
img_9264
Also, there are multitasking and back capacitive keys, which have a nice backlight.
img_9246
On the top you can find a 5MP front firing shooter, proximity sensor, notification LED and the earpiece.
img_9249
The backplate is made out of glass and it is not removable. Although I didn’t get any scratches after one week of use, I doubt it is a Gorilla Glass solution.
img_9247
There is a 16MP camera, which is likely a result of interpolation from 8MP sensor. Also, you can find a single tone LED flash. And yes, there is a heart rate monitor. Not sure about the purpose of this sensor on any smartphone, but it seems that it is measuring something. Please don’t ask about the accuracy as I’m not too crazy about my heart rate.
img_9251
The device has a high quality metal frame.
img_9259img_9260
On the right you can find a power on/off switch, which is made out of metal as well. It has a great tactile response, but it wobbling a bit. Also, there are two nano SIM card slots, which can be removed using a supplied tool. Sadly, there is no microSD card slot.
img_9257
On the left you can find volume up and down keys.
img_9261
On the top side there is a noise cancelling mic along with IR blaster imitation (checked with a few different IR remote control apps).
img_9262
On the bottom you can find a headset jack, mic, micro USB charging port and the speaker grill. Honestly, I don’t like the placement of headset jack as I prefer having it on the top side of the smartphone.
img_9253
Overall, the device feels sturdy and well made. The button placement is right for me and I found it easy to operate the device with one hand.
SPECS
Display 5 inches 720p
Processor Mediatek MT6582 quad-core (1.3 GHz) (32-bit)
RAM 1GB
Camera 5MP Front/16MP Back (f/2.0 aperture)
Connectivity Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, WIFI, GSM, EDGE, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+
Battery 2.550 mAh Li-polimer (non-removable)
Dimensions 14.38 x 7.07 x 0.68 cm
OS Android 4.4.2 Kitkat
Storage 16GB (not expandable)
DISPLAY
The 720p panel is quite sharp and vivid. It is not the best panel out there, but very good for this price range of smartphones.
UI, APPS and PERFORMANCE
The device is running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with a fake Touchwiz skin on top of it to replicate the Samsung’s UI. The OS is running quite smoothly, but not all the time. There are hiccups there and there and sometimes it takes too long to open up the apps. Overall, it is not the fastest UI I’ve seen.
Still, it is not the slowest either and I already received a software update, so it may be fixed soon.  Also, the UI  has some neat features like motion controls. I was actually surprised that they work quite well.
Sadly, there were some app compatibility issues like the Google Camera app could not connect to the camera. Moreover, the essential app like Google Chrome browser wouldn’t launch all the time. This is definitely a software bug, which hopefully will be fixed soon.
BENCHMARKS
The Antutu benchmark score of 18099 does not impress at all as it falls into upper low-end devices category.
GAMING

On the other hand, graphically intensive tasks like 3D gaming are handled pretty well. There are some minor skipped frames, but overall the gaming experience is good. As usual, the device tends to heat up a bit, but nothing out of ordinary.

MULTIMEDIA

2015-05-27_135428
Let’s check out some multimedia options and start by the music player app, which is a pretty standard affair. The loudspeaker is loud, but the sound quality is just average as the sound coming out is not balanced at all. Moreover, the speaker starts cracking at the highest volume output.
2015-05-27_135313
The gallery app is simple and easy to use. It performs well and the picture loading time is great. Also, zooming in and out is near perfect. As far as the 1080P video playback, it is surprisingly smooth and scrolling back and forth throughout the video is almost seamless.
Internet browsing is not the fastest I’ve seen, but it’s alright and no major issues here.
CAMERA
As far as the picture quality I was surprised that Landvo S6 can produce some really nice looking images. The daylight pictures have plenty of detail and look sharp. Also, the colours look natural and even the dynamic range is great. These are one of the better looking photos I’ve seen in the smartphone, which costs just above $100.
Once you take the smartphone inside, you can still capture some decent looking pictures. However, you have to hold the device steady to avoid blurriness and the colours seem to look a bit washed out. Also, the level of detail is not that great.
On the other hand, the camera can take some good looking macro shots, which have plenty of resolved detail.
The low-light shots are just average and the embedded flash does not illuminate the scene that well in complete darkness.
2015-05-28_120318
The front facing camera does a great selfie job for the social media needs.

As far as the video recording goes, the quality is above average for its class. The device captures decent amount of detail, the auto-exposure is okay and the colours look natural.

CONNECTIVITY

As far as connectivity goes, the GPS lock speed is great, but weaker than the Snapdragon 801 chip I tested. Also, the Bluetooth seems to working fine and the call quality is okay. However, both the 2G and 3G signals are weaker than it should be. Hopefully, this is just a software bug that can be fixed.
BATTERY LIFE

The battery can last you a full day only if you are an average user. If you are more on the heavy usage side, I would recommend carrying a power bank as the device seems to be taking much energy on the standby mode.

FINAL WORDS

img_9250

So there you have it. The Landvo S6, the Samsung Galaxy S6 wannabe. If you love the design and the built quality of the original Galaxy device, but don’t want spend a ridiculous amount of money, this is the closest option you can get.
The Landvo features a solid built quality with a quality metal and glass construction. Also, it has a decent looking screen. However, the UI definitely needs some more polishing as it is not as smooth as you would love to have.
It is a pleasant surprise, but the camera is very good for this category of low priced devices. On the other hand, the battery life and signal strength could be definitely better. A MicroSD card slot could have also been a great addition.
In the end, it is not a perfect smartphone, but if you really love the aesthetics and the built quality of the Galaxy S6, the Landvo S6 may be the device for you. Of course, if you don’t mind a few shortcomings.
We want to thank Giztop for sending this device for a review.

Honor 7 Details Emerge: Kirin 935 + 4GB RAM + 13MP OIS Cam

After the launch of the Huawei P8, the company is now all set to update its Honor series. While we have seen very little details about the Honor series devices till now, today, we have received a few more info about the specs and the launch period of the said devices.

image

First of all, it is said that there will be two different variants of the device, a high end Honor 7 and a low end version. Naturally, the high end variant will have slightly better specs the regular variant. Both the phones are expected to come with the Kirin 935 chipset, but for memory the high end variant will get 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the low end version will have 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. Unfortunately, we are still not sure if the phone will come with a fingerprint sensor.

image

Other specs are more or less the same, so it will feature 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP camera with OIS, integrated sound chamber, 3280mAh battery and Android 5.0 lollipop.
The reason company decided to use the existing Kirin 935 chipset is because the next generation Kirin 950 will enter mass production only by the end of September. So expect to see Kirin 950 on Honor 7 Plus later in the year.
image

As for these two Honor 7 variants, the company should release these devices sometime in July for 1999 Yuan and 2699 Yuan.

Meizu M1 Note 2 Leaked Again: Oval Shaped Physical Home Button Spotted

Meizu confirmed that it will be releasing a new variant of the Meizu M1 Note on June 2. Thanks to a set of leaked images, we already know that the phone will have a side placed power button.

meizu m1 note 2 02

Now, today’s leak once again reveals an oval shaped physical home button. While this is an interesting move by the company, it doesn’t come as a surprise as we have seen an earlier leak with the exact same physical home button. However, reports have said that physical button may just be for improving user experience and it may not feature a fingerprint sensor. The rear side features a plastic finish with metal frame on the side.

meizu m2 note

We have also spotted the device on Geekbench, which reveals a full HD 4.6-inch display. This should provide an impressive pixel density. Other specs include octa-core 64-bit MT6753 chip, 2GB RAM, 13MP Camera, 8MP front shooter and Android 5.1 OS.

Meizu M1 Note 2

However, from the earlier leaked images, it doesn’t look like the phone features such a compact display i.e. of 4.6-inches. So, its best to wait till an official confirmation from the company on June 2.

Liuzuo Hu, the CEO of Oneplus while talking to the Chinese media revealed a few details about the HydrogenOS. First of all, the company will continue to support Oneplus devices running this OS and that have been rooted. Also, the company plans to update the ROM once every two weeks. The company will provide important updates after assessing the user experience.

One of the foremost reasons why Oneplus decided to unveil a brand new OS of its own was due to the consumer demand. Luizuo says that Oneplus fans were requesting a brand new OS of its own to complement its smartphone which eventually led to the birth of Hydrogen and OxygenOS. Also, the company was of the opinion that developing an OS of its own will boost its self-confidence. Hence, the company decided to release its own ROM this year.

It looks like the HydrogenOS will be limited to Oneplus devices at least for the moment. The company plans to release beta packages to the public in the next few months after a thorough analysis of the closed group beta test.

Oneplus Will Unveil the HydrogenOS today in Beijing

Users can finally take a look at the HydrogenOS, which is the Chinese ROM from the company, today at an official press event in Beijing. The company will be unveiling the new OS for the first time to the public and fans have a lot of expectation from the new home grown Android based ROM.

The HydrogenOS will be customized version of the Android operating system, offering a minimalistic design and a flat UI like we saw in the Android Lollipop versions. The emergence of HydrogenOS resulted from the company’s decision to move away from a third party software provider, the CyanogenMod to its own home grown ROM.

We have already got a first glance at the few design aspects of the new ROM and you can check out the images down below. Meanwhile, the company has announced that it will be unveiling something big this June, which will be revolutionary. Our best guess is the new OnePlus Two flagship, as its more than a year since the first generation model was unveiled by the company. The flagship is expected to debut with the company’s international ROM OxygenOS.

Here are the leaked pictures of the OS down below.

Meizu kind of confirms a side placed power button for its Blue Charm Note 2 handset

A couple of days back, we saw a new leak of the upcoming Meizu Blue Charm Note 2. We predicted it was the Note 2 given that the phone featured a side placed power button, instead of the traditional Meizu style top placed one.

meizu blue charm note 2 teaser

Looks like, the leaked image was the real deal as earlier today, even Meizu silently confirmed the change of position of the power button. The company revealed a new teaser for the Blue Charm 2 launch on June 2 and in the poster, the phone was outlined. On the right side of the outlined phone, we can clearly see a raised button, which should be for the power button. So, it looks like the earlier Weibo leak was right on target.

Meizu M1 Note 2

The overall design seems to be a continuation of the existing Meizu M1 Note. This doesn’t come as a surprise given that it is said that the upcoming Note 2 handset will be a variant of the existing model and not exactly an upgrade. So, expect only a few changes like the power button placement, and even an oval shaped physical home button, just below the display.

Unfortunately, even now we are unsure about the specifications of the device. But the company has confirmed the launch date as June 2, so we will have to patiently wait for more details at the event which is just a week away.

Xiaomi Mi5 coming in November with Snapdragon 820 and Quad HD display?

Its that time of the year where Xiaomi will unveil a new flagship smartphone in its Mi series. Earlier reports suggested that the phone will be launched sometime in the months of June-July, however according to a new leak from Weibo, courtesy of Leaksfly, the company has reportedly shifted the launch deadline to November 2015.

xiaomi mi5 render

The main reason for doing so was to incorporate the brand new Snapdragon 820 chipset inside its latest flagship. The chip would be unveiled by the end of the year, which meant that if Xiaomi wanted the Snapdragon 820 inside the Xiaomi Mi5, then it would have to wait till the very end.

The leakster also revealed a few more specs of the upcoming handset, which includes a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM memory, fingerprint recognition, USB type-C port and a thickness of just 5.1mm. There will be two storage variants, namely 16GB and 64GB.

With the new Snapdragon 820 chipset, its also possible that Xiaomi may incorporate Qualcomm’s ultrasound fingerprint recognition system. This unique system does not need any physical buttons or areas for fingerprint recognition like other fingerprint modules in the market. In fact, it can be incorporated under any type of material such as glass or metal and is not even affected by external factors such as dirt, water etc.

While we may see the Xiaomi Mi5 only in November, the company is also reportedly working on a upgrade to last year’s Xiaomi Mi4 which will feature Snapdragon 810 chipset. This should keep the company and its fans busy for a few months, until the monster Snapdragon 820 powered Xiaomi Mi5 makes it to the market.

Huawei’s entry level Honor smartphone hits TENAA, features a gold colored frame

Huawei is quite busy working on a number of new smartphones for launch later this year. Looks like, among the Huawei Honor 7 and the Mate 8 flagships, the company will be unveiling an entry level Honor device in the market. A new phone with the code name SCL-AL00 recently hit TENAA, revealing the looks as well as limited features of the device.

Unlike the usual tradition, TENAA did not reveal any particular specs of the device. But we did find some pictures, which reveals a basic plastic design with a metal frame. The highlight of the phone’s design was the gold colored frame, which kind of sets it apart from the other low level offerings in the market.

However, we know very little about the specs. The phone will support TD-LTE, LTE FDD, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X and GSM networks. Other than that TENAA does not list any details of the device.

But according to a Geekbench listing of a device in February, with the same code name, Huawei SCL-AL00, the phone will feature a quad-core Qualcomm chipset clocked at 1.1GHz with 2GB RAM and Android 5.0.

We expect a lot more details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
