Honor is gearing up to launch the new Honor 300 series in China soon. The Honor 200 arrived in India following its Chinese release earlier this year. And now, a fresh certification sighting hints that the successor might be right around the corner.

Honor 300 Series Visits 3C

The Honor 300 lineup was spotted on the 3C database in four distinct variants (Via 91Mobiles). It was seen with four model numbers, namely AMP-AN00, AMP-AN10, AMM-AN00, and AMG-AN00. These were listed alongside the HN-200500C07, HN-200500C08, and HN-200500C09 charging adapter model numbers, which confirm support for at least 100W wired fast charging. Unfortunately, the exact moniker of the Honor 300 series phones is still unclear and the 3C certification does not reveal any other key details like specifications or design.

To recall, the Honor 200 lineup was also unveiled in four variants. This included the Honor 200, Honor 200 Pro, Honor 200 Lite, and Honor 200 Smart. So we can expect an Honor 300, Honor 300 Pro, Honor 300 Lite, and Honor 300 Smart as well this time around. Back in August 2024, the Honor 300 Pro model had its render leaked showcasing a unique back design. The rear had an oddly elongated camera module, while the front featured a curved edge display.

While the Honor 200 launched with a tall 6.7-inch display, new rumors have hinted that the Honor 300 could be a new budget compact smartphone. The report had hinted at the base model rivalling the Galaxy S25 or iPhone 16. But since we’re not completely sure about the names of the 300 series. Honor might unveil a new mini model. Although, this is just speculation at the moment, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stick around for more updates.

Earlier today, Honor finally announced the Honor X10 in China after days of leaks and teasers. At the launch event, the brand’s president George Zhao aka Zhao Ming revealed that the company has so far sold over 80 million Honor X series phones worldwide.

Honor has been selling Honor X series of smartphone from late 2013. The first phone in the series was Honor 3X, a rebranded Huawei Ascend G750. It has been later followed by newer models every year since then. We even got to see some Pro and Max versions along the way.

The Honor X10 launched today is the first 5G model in the series. Thus, at the beginning of the keynote, Mr Zhao recalled the series as a whole. He pointed out that they have sold over 80 million Honor X series phones worldwide since its inception.

We feel the count could have been more if the brand had launched Honor 9X series globally since this series alone shipped 10 million units in China. The original Honor 9X Pro did launch in India recently but without GMS (Google Mobile Services), it will be a tough sell in the country.

On the other hand, Huawei US ban has been further extended for a year along with restrictions to chip supplies. This will impact the Chinese telecom giant including its Honor sub-brand severely. 

The sales of Huawei / Honor smartphones worldwide are expected to go down rather improve going by the current situation.

The Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro launched in July 2019 were the world’s first smartphones to be powered by HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC. This duo has now successfully sold over 10 million units in China according to a Weibo post by Guan Haitao, the vice president of marketing at Honor.

The Honor 9X series sold over 3 million units just within 29 days of its launch in China. However, it took about 8 months to reach 10 million units, thanks to intense competition from competitors as well as newer devices from Honor and its parent company Huawei.

Still, it’s a great accomplishment by the brand to sell such a huge number of units of a single series in a sea of smartphones launching every other week. This count could have been even larger if the original Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro ever saw a launch in international markets.

As for the brand, it is also celebrating the success of the HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset as it debuted on these smartphones.  This chip was recently succeeded by HiSilion Kirin 820 5G. As the name suggests, it features an integrated 5G modem and powers the brand new Honor 30S. The upcoming Huawei Nova 7 SE is also expected to feature this new 7nm 5G chipset.

AnTuTu recently released the top 10 most-powerful flagship models that have run through the benchmark app in March. The benchmark outfit equally released the top 10 most powerful mid-range models for March 2020. The top 10 most-powerful mid-range models are powered by just five mid-range SoCs, with the Kirin 810 chipset having the widest spread.

The star of the moment still remains the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC powering the OPPO Reno3 5G. The processor maintained its lead of this category with an average score of 407340 points. That is a wide gap between the Reno3 5G and the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G in the second spot. The gap between the first and second-ranked model is more than 80,000 points, showing the prowess of the Dimensity 1000L. The Reno3 5G was launched in December 2019 and has stayed consecutively atop AnTuTu’s midrange chart since January, thanks to the MediaTek SoC.

The Dimensity 1000L is built with a 7nm process and uses the Cortex-A77 architecture in an octa-core arrangement. The GPU uses the G77 architecture and the SoC also comes with built-in 5G baseband. The chipset equally supports NSA / SA dual-mode 5G.

The Redmi K30 5G packing a Snapdragon 765G processor maintained the third position. OPPO’s latest Reno3 Pro 5G enters at the fourth spot. The four models are the only 5G model in the top 10 midrange chart.

Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset propelled five different Huawei and Honor models into the list. The phones include the Honor 9X Pro, Huawei Nova 6 SE, Honor 9X, Honor 20S and the Huawei Nova 5i, all occupying the fifth to ninth spots in that order.

Another MediaTek chipset, the Helio G90T makes the cut onboard the Redmi Note 8 Pro and with an average score of 289257 points.

With the launch of several models powered by the Snapdragon 765G, we expect the list to change pretty soon but the Dimensity 1000L’s dominance doesn’t seem to have any contender. However, the top 10 mid-range chart may soon be dominated by 5G phones in the coming months considering the rising number of 5G mid-range phones that are being released in quick succession.

Back in November 2019, Honor released a list of devices that would get the Magic UI 3.0 update which is based on Android 10. The list had devices such as the Honor 20, Honor V20, and Honor 9X amongst others. After months of beta testing, Honor has now revealed that a stable update will be rolled out next week for the global versions of the aforementioned phones.

The info comes from a press release shared by Honor and it stated that Magic UI 3.0 based on Android 10 will roll-out to the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, Honor View 20, and the Honor 9X as from 15th of March.

Honor says it is working on the update for the Honor 10, Honor 10 Lite, Honor 20 Lite, Honor 8X, Honor 9X Pro and Honor View 10 but there is no news of when the update will arrive for these devices.

When the Honor 9X was announced last year, it was made available in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. The Chinese variant even comes in more colors – Magic Night Black, Charm Sea Blue, Charm Red, and Icelandic White. Today, the global version gets a new color variant called Emerald Green.

The color variant was first teased last week before its official announcement today. There is no info on availability yet and when asked the response was to stay tuned.

The Honor 9X has a 6.59-inch 1080 x 2340 display. It has no notch neither is there a punch-hole. Instead, the Honor 9X has a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. On the back of the phone is a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The phone packs a 4000mAh battery, has a Kirin 710F processor and comes with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. It runs Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.1 on top.

The Chinese variant has the more powerful Kirin 810 processor and has 48MP + 2MP dual rear cameras.

But will it be high enough to be the preferred choice for most of the users searching for a new smartphone in that price range? In order to give you an idea, we decided to compare it with two other devices with a very high value for money: Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme X2 from Xiaomi’s and Oppo’s sub-brands which became independent from both the famous companies. Design

The design is one of the strongest points of the Honor 9X. It is one of the few affordable smartphones to sport a full borderless display without the need of a notch, thanks to the presence of a motorized pop-up selfie camera. It is the most beautiful device not only because of that but also because of its elegant glass back. Well, Realme X2 has an even cleaner rear side thanks to its in-display fingerprint reader, but it is a device with a standard waterdrop notch, so nothing surprising. Redmi Note 8 Pro is born as an affordable gaming device and despite having a nice design, the aesthetics are not its strong point.

Display

A lot of people, including me, would prefer the display of the Realme X2. It is the only smartphone from this trio to sport an AMOLED panel with deep blacks and vivid colors, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. Both Redmi Note 8 Pro and Honor 9X come with IPS display, but their image quality is still high. Redmi Note 8 Pro is particularly surprising because it is HDR-compliant and it even boasts a very high brightness for the display. But Realme X2 would be my choice due to its AMOLED panel with its in-display fingerprint reader.

Specs & Software

On the paper, the most powerful handset is the Redmi Note 8 Pro. It boasts an Helio G90T providing higher graphics performance and more suitable for gamers and power users. But the Snapdragon 730G on board of the Realme X2 is almost as powerful as the Helio G90T. Further, it has lower energy consumption. Honor 9X has an inferior Kirin 710F, so you should not go for it if you are looking for the best hardware. Talking about the software, Redmi Note 8 Pro is more advanced than Realme X2 with its MIUI, but with ColorOS 7 coming soon things will get a lot better for Realme X2.

Camera

Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme X2 offer superior cameras to the Honor 9X. Realme X2 is slightly better because it boasts a better selfie camera: a 32 MP snapper with an f/2.0 focal aperture. In both cases, the rear camera setup is composed of a 64 MP main sensor (Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1), an ultrawide lens, a dedicated macro camera, and a depth sensor, all with the same resolutions. Honor 9X is still a pretty nice camera phone, but it lacks a dedicated macro camera and it comes with inferior sensors.

Battery

The biggest battery belongs to the Redmi Note 8 Pro with 4500 mAh. Despite the handset has a less efficient processor built with a 12 nm production process, it boasts a longer battery life due to its higher capacity. Right after, we got the Realme X2: despite it has the same battery capacity as the Honor 9X, its efficient AMOLED display and its 8 nm chipset make it last longer on a single charge.

Price

Honor 9X costs about €178/$199 in the Indian market, Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from €203/$226, and Realme X2 starts from €215/$240. I would personally discard Honor 9X despite its better design. Realme X2 is my favorite one due to its Snapdragon 730G chipset and AMOLED display, but Redmi Note 8 Pro offers a more interesting software, longer battery life, and even better hardware.

Design

If there is an impressive feature on the Honor 9X, it is the design. Thanks to a pop-up front camera, it offers a full borderless experience without the need for a notch, like some of the most amazing flagship smartphones. Further, it has an almost completely clean glass back thanks to a compact camera module and a side-mounted fingerprint reader (China version only). And how not to mention the suggestive X-shaped light effects on the rear cover. It is not one of the most compact phones out there, but it is definitely beautiful.

Display

Honor 9X is superior even when it comes to the display. It has a better looking LTPS panel with a wider size and a Full HD+ resolution. Even the Redmi Note 8 has a nice display and you would not notice big differences between the Honor 9X and Redmi Note 8. Realme 5i is way inferior due to its lower definition: its IPS display has just an HD+ resolution and it is even a very wide display, so you should notice the difference without many difficulties.

Specs & Software

The most powerful hardware department belongs to the Redmi Note 8, at least in its most expensive memory configuration. The handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 665 chipset paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage. Realme 5i has exactly the same chipset, but it offers just 4 GB of RAM and just 64 GB of internal storage in its high-end version. The Kirin 710F chipset found on the Honor 9X is inferior to the Snapdragon 665, but the Honor 9X has a 6/128 GB variant, unlike the Realme 5i. Each device boasts Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Camera

Redmi Note 8 offers the most complete rear camera setup: it consists of a 48 MP quad camera including an ultrawide sensor, a dedicated macro camera, and a depth sensor. Right after we got the Honor 9X with a 48 MP triple camera which lacks the dedicated macro camera. With Realme 5i you get a quad camera again, but the main 12 MP sensor is inferior to the ones found on both the Honor 9X and Redmi Note 8, as well as the selfie camera.

Battery

Realme 5i is the king if we talk about battery life. Not only it features a bigger 5000 mAh battery, but it even comes with a more efficient display. Thanks to the HD+ resolution, the energy consumption is inferior to the Redmi Note 8 and Honor 9X, that is why the battery life is even longer than you might expect. Honor 9X and Redmi Note 8 have the same battery capacity, but Redmi Note 8 lasts slightly more in various scenarios.

Price

The price of Honor 9X in India is about $197, Redmi Note 8 costs about €127 and Realme 5i is priced €115. Redmi Note 8 looks like the most complete and well-balanced device with a great hardware department and nice cameras. Honor 9X has a better design, while Realme 5i offers the longest battery life.

Honor had launched the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro smartphones in China in July 2019. Few months later, the company unveiled the international edition of the Honor 9X. Due to the US trade ban imposed on Huawei, sub-brand Honor had to launch a slightly different phone as the Honor 9X international edition. India was expected to receive the phone in August. However, its arrival was delayed due to reasons best known to the company. Today, it held a launch event in India to announce the Honor 9X alongside other products such as Honor Band 5i and Honor MagicWatch 2.

Honor 9X price in India

The Honor 9X has arrived in India in two models such as 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. These variants have respective price tags of Rs. 13,999 (~$197) and Rs. 16,999 (~$239).

The handset can be purchased in two colors such as Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. The handset will be available for purchase from Jan. 19 exclusively through Flipkart. On the launch date (Jan. 19), the base model can be bought for Rs. 12,999 (~$183). ICICI credit and Kotak Bank credit and debit card users can take advantage of 10 percent discount.

Honor 9X Specifications

The Honor 9X has an impressive 6.59-inch IPS LCD display that produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The notch-less screen offers a high screen-to-body. The EMUI 10 based Android 9 Pie OS comes preloaded on the device. Yes, the phone ships with Google Mobile Services in India.

The older Kirin 710F processor fuels the Honor 9X. The Chinese variant has the newer 7nm Kirin 810 onboard. The Indian Honor 9X ships with up to 8 GB of RAM. It offers users with an internal storage of up to 128 GB. A microSD slot available through the hybrid SIM tray is available on the smartphone.

The backside of the Honor 9X has a triple camera setup along with an LED flash. It has a primary shooter of 48-megapixel, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a secondary lens of 2-megapixel. Honor had launched the Honor 9X smartphone that has a model number of HLK-AL00/TL00 in China in July last year. A new listing for HLK-AL00a Honor phone has appeared on TENAA with its entire specifications. With a model number similar to the Honor 9X, the newly spotted HLK-AL00a seems to be a new variant with a different processor.

Honor HLK-AL00a Specifications

The Honor HLK-AL00a smartphone has 163.1 x 77.2 x 8.8mm dimensions and it weighs 206 grams. Its color variants are listed as black, blue, red, gradient purple, gradient blue, etc. The device houses a notch-less screen that of 6.59 inches. The phone offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. A minimum rated battery of 3,900mAh capacity is present under the hood of the HLK-AL00a. Its typical capacity could be 4,000mAh battery. There is no support for fast charging on the device.

An octa-core processor that clocks at 2.0GHz is at the helm of the Honor HLK-AL00a smartphone. The phone is expected to release in China in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM options. Its storage sizes listed on TENAA are 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.

There is a microSD card slot on the Honor HLK-AL00a for more storage. The phone is loaded with the Android 9 Pie OS. A fingerprint integrated with the power button is fitted on the right edge of the device. Above it is the volume rocker.

The back panel of the Honor HLK-AL00a has a vertical dual camera setup. It includes a 48-megapixel main lens and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter. For capturing selfie shots, the phone possesses a pop-up selfie snapper of 16-megapixel.

As it can be seen, the specs and design of the Honor HLK-AL00a are exact match with Honor 9X. The only major difference is that the Honor 9X is driven by the Kirin 810 2.27GHz octa-core processor whereas the HLK-AL00a has a 2.0GHz octa-core CPU onboard.

The HLK-AL00a to be a new variant of the Honor 9X. The TENAA certified phone is expected to break cover as the first Honor phone of 2020. The Chinese firm is yet to confirm on the arrival of a new phone. Hopefully, the HLK-AL00a will be made official within this month.

Honor, a sub-brand of Chinese electronics behemoth Huawei, has just sent out invites for the official launch of a range of smart accessories which includes MagicWatch 2 and Band 5i in India. Honor has teamed up with notable eCommerce platform Amazon to sell its products. Although the Jan. 14 launch date has been confirmed, there is no word on when the devices will be sold to the public. The Honor 9X smartphone is also launching on the same day in the country. The same platform could be used by Honor to announce its new smart accessories for the country.

Honor is all set to unveil the Honor MagicWatch 2 and Honor Band 5i at an event in New Delhi. Both the MagicWatch 2 and the Band 5i are listed on Amazon India revealing a few key features, along with the ‘Notify Me’ button. Honor officially launched the Watch Magic 2 back in November 2019 in China, replacing the 1st-generation Watch Magic.

The Honor MagicWatch 2 flaunts 42mm and 46mm dials with a 316L stainless steel chassis. The 42mm variant features a 1.2-inch circular display, while the 46mm unit comes with a 1.39-inch screen. Honor claims the MagicWatch 2 has an effective battery life of 14 days and comes with a dual satellite positioning system that accurately records user data like speed and direction while cycling or running.

The MagicWatch 2 has 13 different courses especially for running. It comes with real-time voice-over guidance and supports an array of additional features including heart rate monitoring, Huawei TruSleep sleep monitoring and Huawei TruRelax. The smartwatch features 4GB of native storage, is water-resistant, and is equipped with a built-in speaker and microphone.

Honor Band 5i Specifications and Features

The Honor Band 5i sports a 0.96-inch display with a resolution of 160 x 80 pixels. The device is also capable of tracking fitness and offering personalized recommendations based on previously recorded data.

A few days ago, Honor India shared a teaser on Twitter hinting at the launch of a new phone. It has now been reported that invites have been sent out for an invite on January 14.

The invite doesn’t say which device(s) will be announced but there are reports it is the Honor 9X. The device launched in China back in July and then in Europe in October 2019. While both phones have the same name in the two markets, they are actually different.

The model sold in China has a Kirin 810 processor and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner while the European version has a Kirin 710F processor and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Since Honor still has not been able to get the Kirin 810 certified by Google, India should get the same version as the one sold in Europe.

Other than the invite, there is also a promotional page that has been put up by Flipkart, hinting at the device being sold by the online store. The page lists the previous Honor X series smartphones released in the past starting with the 2014 Honor 4X and culminating with the 2018 Honor 8X. The Honor 9X has a 6.59-inch 2340 x 1080 LCD display. Along with the Kirin 710F processor is 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. It has a 16MP pop-up selfie camera and 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple rear cameras. The phone also has dual SIM support (hybrid), Bluetooth 4.2, an audio jack, and an FM radio. There is a 4000mAh battery inside with support for 10W charging via a USB Type-C port. The phone launched in Europe for €299 but should sell for less in India.

Honor is also expected to announce the Magic Watch 2 smartwatch alongside the smartphone too.

Honor is selling two variants of the Honor 9X currently, One for the Chinese markets and the other one for the global markets. The Chinese edition is fueled by the Kirin 810 chipset whereas the international edition has Kirin 710F onboard. There is no confirmation on which model will be brought to India. However, it is likely that the company may release international version in the country.

Honor 9X Specifications (International Edition)

The Honor 9X has a notch-less IPS LCD display with a notch-less design. It offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It has a pop-up selfie camera of 16-megapixel. On its rear is a triple camera system that includes a 48-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 2-megapixel depth assist sensor. The Chinese Honor 9X has a 48-meapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup on its back.

The Kirin 710F is present under the hood of the 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants of the Honor 9X. The phone can be bought in 64 GB and 128 GB storage choices. The device is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging. The EMUI 9.1 based Android 9 Pies OS runs on the device. It is fitted with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. There is a side-mounted fingerprint reader on the Chinese version of Honor 9X.

There is no word on the pricing of the Honor 9X in India. Judging by the specs, the phone could be priced around Rs. 15,000. It remains to be seen whether the Honor 9X for India will be made available with Google Mobile Services (GMS). Apart from launching the Honor 9X smartphone, the Chinese manufacturer is also expected to unleash the Honor Magic Watch 2 in this month in India.

A fresh report on 91mobiles reveals that the Chinese manufacturer will unveil the Honor 9X in January 2020. It will be also announcing the Magic Watch 2 smartwatch alongside the smartphone.

The Honor 9X that will be arriving in India will not be the exact same Kirin 810 powered Honor 9X device that debuted in China. However, the country could be receiving the international edition of the smartphone. The Honor 9X for India will be featuring a 6.59-inch IPS LCD display with notch-less display. The screen supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone will draw power from the older Kirin 710F chipset. It could be coming with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage. A microSD card slot will be available onboard for more storage.

For shooting selfies, it will be equipped with a pop-up selfie camera of 16-megapixel. Honor is known to partner with fashion brands for limited edition models of its phones. At the beginning of the year, it released a special edition Honor V20 in partnership with Moschino, the luxury fashion house. It partnered with them again in July for the Honor 20 Pro Moschino Edition. It has now been reported that it is partnering with Malaysian streetwear brand – Stoned & Co. – for a special edition Honor 9X.

The Chinese phone company will partner with the fashion house for the Honor 9X Stoned & Co. Limited Edition. The phone will come in a special retail box along with a special case designed by the fashion house.

There will be only 200 units of this special edition Honor 9X. The first 100 units will be sold on December 20 at 12:00 midnight on the HiHonor Malaysia online store. The remaining 100 units will be sold at 11 AM on December 20 too, but at the Honor Experience Store at Sunway Pyramid. It has been reported that each of the custom cases will be numbered.

The Honor 9X Stoned & Co. Limited Edition will sell for 999 Malaysian Ringgit which converts to about ~$241. Other than the difference in packaging and the custom case, there are no differences with respect to the specs of the two devices.

The Honor 9X has a 6.59-inch FHD+ display with no notch nor punch hole. Instead, it has a motorized 16MP selfie camera. Honor ships the 9X sold outside China with a Kirin 710F processor paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

There is a triple camera setup on the back of the phone and it includes a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone also packs a 4000mAh battery with 10W charging and runs Android Pie out of the box.

Android 10 has been out for a couple of months at this point. Apart from Google, some phone makers have been able to offer the update relatively quickly. Honor have been making a decent effort to push updates faster, and now they’re looking for Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X users to beta test EMUI 10 based on Android 10.

The company is looking for 500 users of the log version and 1500 users of the non-log version of its beta program. You can sign up via this link right over here. The below shown poster reveals that the Huawei Y9s is equipped with a 6.59-inch Ultra FullView notch-less display. It has a 48-megapixel triple AI camera system on its back. The device has 6 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. It is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

The Huawei Y9s appears to be rebranded version of the Honor 9X. There is no official confirmation on the markets that will be receiving the smartphone. Probably, the phone may go official in November. It is speculated that Pakistan will be soon receiving it with a price tag of PKR 34,999 (~$223).

The 48-megapixel main sensor in its triple camera system could be assisted by an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It could be coming with a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie snapper. The handset could be packed with a 4,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support.

In related news, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is now working on the international version of the Honor 9X. In July, Honor had launched Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro phones. Some of the international markets will receiving only a modified version of the Honor 9X.

The Honor 9X international edition features Kirin 710F SoC instead of the Kirin 810 chipset. Instead of a side-facing fingerprint reader, it has rear-positioned fingerprint sensor. Honor has just confirmed that the Honor 9X will arrive in Europe shortly. The smartphone launched in China back in July 2019. The Honor 9X is perhaps the last Google-supported device from the Chinese tech giants before the US Trade Ban took effect. The smartphone uses the Android OS and offers a full suite of Google’s interactive and support services. However, the breaking news is that the international model has some differences as compared to its Chinese version. The device is powered by a different processor and flaunts a 48-megapixel primary camera. The global variant of the Honor 9X borrows the specifications of the Chinese Honor 9X Pro but drops the ‘Pro’ badging.

Honor 9X (International Edition) Specifications and Features

The Honor 9X flaunts a 6.59-inch IPS LCD notch-less screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device draws power from a Kirin 710F SoC instead of Kirin 810 and is available with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. Honor also plans to launch the 6GB + 128GB variant in certain markets. Both devices feature expandable storage up to 512GB with a microSD card.

The Honor 9X features a triple camera layout at the back. The primary unit is a 48-megapixel primary camera with an aperture rating of f/1.8. Although it can record videos at 1080 pixels, the AI video stabilization stops working beyond 720p. The second camera uses an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor for a 120-degree field-of-view. The Honor 9X features holographic X pattern that appears on the rear panel. The design moves around forming rhombic patterns as light is reflected off of its surface. Honor calls this change in color patterns their ‘halo gradient’. The Honor 9X international edition will be available in the existing color options, namely Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black. Expect the smartphone to be priced around 350 euros (~$388). Honor is yet to officially announce the pricing and launch date of the international edition.

The Honor 9X variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage respectively costed 1,899 Yuan (~$269) and 2,099 Yuan (~$297). With the 100 Yuan (~$14) price cut, these variants can be availed respective revised costs of 1,799 Yuan (~$255) and 1,999 Yuan (~$283).

The other variants of the Honor 9X such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage are respectively priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$198) and 1,599 Yuan (~$226). These models haven’t received a price cut.

The Honor 9X Pro with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage that was priced at 2,399 Yuan (~$339) at launch is now available for 2,199 Yuan (~$311) after a discount of 200 Yuan (~$28).. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage which is the other variant continues to sell at 2,199 Yuan. Hence, both of the Honor 9X Pro are now available at same pricing in China. The new price cut could be a limited period offer.

Recent reports have revealed that Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is prepping up to launch the Honor 9X series of smartphones in India. Today, Honor India President, Charles Peng confirmed in an interview with the Press Trust of India that the company plans to bring the Honor 9X to India by the end of 2019. 

The Chinese electronics giant also plans to introduce the Internet of Things or IoT in the country. According to Peng’s official statement at the time of launch, “We are going to introduce the Honor 9X in India by the end of the year. The smartphone uses the Android OS”.Since Honor launched the Honor 9X series back in July 2019, the smartphone is likely to feature the Google Play Store and related apps.

Apart from smartphones, Honor India further plans to introduce the Honor Vision smart TV in India by the first quarter of 2020. Honor 9X users will be able to access the Honor TV with the smartphone. Furthermore, Honor is currently in discussion with a number of leading entertainment companies in India to support the Honor Vision when it launches in the subcontinent.

The Honor 9X launched back in China in July. It is now set to arrive in Europe, but when it does it will be different from the one sold in China. The release dates for the launch in two European countries have been revealed.

The Honor 9X will make its first stop in Russia where it will be unveiled on Thursday, October 17. The official Honor Russia website has put up a nice teaser poster that shows the Honor 9X and its predecessors such as the Honor 8X, Honor 7X, Honor 6X, and Honor 5X.

Exactly a week after its launch in Russia, the Honor 9X train will head to Amsterdam, Netherlands. The poster says there will be two events on the day which is October 24. The first is HiHonor Ecommerce Business event while the second is the launch of the Honor 9X.

The phone will launch in Europe with a key difference in spec as well as design. The European Honor 9X will have a Kirin 710F processor rather than the new and more powerful Kirin 810 processor. While that is definitely disappointing, the reason this is happening is none other than the US ban.

It has been reported that the Kirin 810 board just like the Kirin 990 board can’t get licensed by Google. For this reason, Honor is using the Kirin 710F in the European version of the Honor 9X.

With respect to design, the European version will come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and not a rear-mounted one. Other than the differences in design and processor, the rest of the specs are the same.

Huawei’s subsidiary Honor first unveiled the Honor 9X Pro Icelandic White variant in China last month. The device was originally scheduled to go on sale from October 1 but got slightly delayed. The device looks like a white coloured phone but upon viewing under a light source, different colourful hues appear. This gives the device a premium, attractive look.

Apart from the colour variant, the Icelandic White variant is similar to other versions. That is a 6.59-inch IPS LCD display, along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ screen resolution. Under the hood, the smartphones are powered by the company’s own Kirin 810 octa-core chipset. While the Pro comes with up to 8GB RAM and maximum storage of 256GB (UFS 2.1), the standard model has up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The smartphone packs an impressive 4,000mAh battery.

The newly introduced 8 GB RAM model of the Honor 9X has 128 GB of native storage. It carries a pricing of 2,099 Yuan (~$293). The poster shared by Honor shows that the new model comes in Black and Blue color editions. The Honor 9X can be also purchase in other models such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage for 1,399 Yuan (~$195), 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage for 1,599 Yuan (~$223) and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage for 1,899 Yuan (~$265).  The color variants of the Honor 9X include Magic Night Black, Charm Sea Blue, Charm Red and Icelandic White.

Honor 9X Specifications

The Honor 9X is a glass-bodied phone that comes with an IPS LCD display of 6.59-inches. It produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The 7nm Kirin 810 chipset is present under the hood of the device.

The rear side of the Honor 9X has a primary sensor of 48-megapixel with f/1.8 aperture. It is assisted by f/2.4 aperture 2-megapixel depth sensor. It is equipped with an f/2.2 aperture 16-megapixel selfie snapper.

The V30 5G and Magic 3 smartphones will be fueled by the new Kirin 990 chipset whereas the Honor Note phone could be featuring the Kirin 810 SoC, 64-megapixel camera and 20W fast charging technology. The V30 5G is rumored to come equipped with an elliptical punch-hole on the top-left corner of the display. There is no information available on the specs of the rumored Honor Magic 3 smartphone.

AMOLED displays are currently a trend because of their very deep blacks and their incredibly brilliant colors. And they are actually the only displays with UD fingerprint scanners. Oppo Reno2 F is the only device in this trio to be equipped with an AMOLED panel, so it is more suitable for most of the potential buyers out there. The second place goes to the Honor 9X and its notch-less LTPS panel with the widest diagonal (6.59 inches).

Specs & Software

Huawei released a very powerful chipset for its 2019 mid-rangers: the Kirin 810. It is the first mid-range SoC to be built at just 7 nm, so it is very performing but also very efficient. Unfortunately, the Honor 9X does not have up to 8 GB of RAM like the Reno2 F, but the chipset is way better so it wins the hardware comparison. And Oppo Reno2 F does not even take the second place, given that the Redmi Note 8 is equipped with a more powerful Snapdragon 665 SoC by Qualcomm. Each device supports a micro SD to expand the internal storage and has a customized Android 9 Pie fork out of the box.

Camera

Cameras are the strongest point of the Oppo Reno2 F. It is one of the few mid-rangers out there to boast OIS for an amazing stabilization. And it even has an interesting B/W sensor for portraits, besides the classic depth sensor and an additional ultrawide lens. Further, the Oppo Reno2 F is the only to sport a front-facing LED flash and HDR for the front camera. Redmi Note 8 Pro comes right after with a 48 MP quad-camera including a dedicated macro sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a depth sensor.

Battery

In each case, you get a 4000 mAh battery, but given that we did not test the Oppo Reno2 F thoroughly, we still can not give a definitive opinion. Judging from the specs on the paper, the efficient Kirin 810 should make the Honor 9X last more on a single charge.

Design

The pop-up camera and the notch-less display make the Honor 9X a much more futuristic and attractive smartphone. And if you add the suggestive light effects varying on light reflection, you get an even more amazing design. It even has a side-mounted fingerprint reader so that the rear cover looks cleaner. But there is one thing in which the Honor 9X is inferior when it comes to aesthetics: the build quality. Honor 9X sports a traditional polycarbonate design, unlike the Redmi Note 7 which comes with a glass back. But in this case, the screen-to-body ratio is higher and there is even a waterdrop notch. What do you prefer: a more futuristic design or better materials?

Display

Despite it has a wide 6.5-inch screen, Realme 5 loses this comparison due to a lower display resolution. It has just an HD panel, while its rivals are both Full HD+. If I had to choose between Redmi Note 7 and Honor 9X, I would go for the latter simply because it has a bigger display and it is notch-less. But the quality is very similar, so there is not a real better device here. Both are IPS panels and they come with the same 1080p resolution.

Specs & Software

For the first time, a Kirin chipset by Huawei dominates over Snapdragon 6xx chipsets by Qualcomm. The Kirin 810 found on the Honor 9X is built at 7 nm just like flagship chipsets and it provides blazing speeds and very low energy consumption. Further, the Honor 9X also provides the highest-end memory configuration with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage which you can furtherly expand with a micro SD. At the second place, you can find the Realme 5 as it is powered by a slightly better chipset than the Redmi Note 7, but note that it does not exist in a configuration with 6 GB of RAM, unlike the Redmi Note 7. In each case, you get a customized Android fork: Color OS, MIUI, and EMUI.

Camera

None of these handsets is a camera phone, but they have more than sufficient camera performances. When it comes to rear sensors, Redmi Note 7 wins the comparison for a low margin, if we only talk about overall photo quality in normal conditions. But Realme 5 has two additional sensors (quad camera) including an ultrawide lens and a dedicated macro camera, so it is way more versatile. And we think it is more important for a mid-ranger.

Battery

The huge 5000 mAh battery and the efficient 6.5-inch display make the Realme 5 the battery king in this trio. It is able to last two days on a single charge even with the most stressed usage pattern.

Price

€180/$200 for Redmi Note 7 and Honor 9X, €125/$138 (in India) for Realme 5. Overall, I would choose the Honor 9X for its wider display, better look, and nice hardware. But Realme 5 is the best for people seeking for the most versatile camera and the longest battery life.

Chinese benchmark outfit Master Lu has released a list of the top-ranking phones that have been benchmarked on its app with the best fluidity in terms of the System user interface (UI). The ranking takes into consideration the system’s file copying speed, desktop slider response, web page loading time, boot loader, app response during usage, photo viewing experience and several user experiences. These parameters are used to verify the adaptability, optimization and fluidity of the mobile phone’s system UI.

The list shows that the top three most fluid smartphones in July are the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, ASUS ROG Gaming Phone 2 and ZTE AXON 10 Pro 5G. Their scores are 146.41, 144.29 and 141.98 respectively. As a reminder, the Kirin 980 powers the Mate 20 X 5G while the ASUS ROG 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and Snapdragon 855 for the Axon 10 5G.

First of all, it has a higher screen-to-body ratio and even an elevating front camera. It boasts a wonderful glass back with a suggestive X pattern, as well as a very clean design overall. The Vivo Z5 is all but ugly: it shows up as a very elegant device, but it has a classic waterdrop notch and it does not offer anything special compared to the other mid-rangers in the same price range. That is why Honor 9X catalyzes my attention more than the Z5.

Display

Given that it is a Super AMOLED panel, the display of the Vivo Z5 shows more brilliant colors, and it even comes with an in-display fingerprint reader. That is not the same for the Honor 9X which is equipped with an LTPS IPS panel. But despite it has an LCD display instead of an AMOLED one, I would still go for the Honor 9X because it has a bigger panel which is more suitable for productivity and even harder to find in its price range. Despite the presence of an IPS display, the fingerprint reader was not placed on the backside: it is side-mounted.

Specs & Software

Finally, Huawei made a chipset which is able to beat most of Qualcomm’s mid-range processors. We are talking about the Kirin 810 which can be considered one of the most impressive midrange SoC of the last years. Just like flagship chipsets, it is built with a 7 nm production process and on the paper, it is better than the Snapdragon 712 found on the Vivo Z5. So, despite I usually choose Qualcomm’s chipsets over Kirins, this time I would definitely give a chance to Huawei, even though the Snapdragon 712 is the most powerful mid-range chipset by Qualcomm after the Snapdragon 730. Both phones have Android 9 Pie out of the box with a highly customized user interface.

Camera

When it comes to the overall camera experience, Vivo Z5 is a clear winner. It has one more camera on its back for a total of three sensors, including an ultrawide lens, while Honor 9X lacks the ultrawide sensor. Further, the Vivo Z5 has a higher resolution for the depth sensor as well as a better selfie camera. So there is no way that Honor 9X can be more versatile and interesting than Vivo Z5 as a camera phone.

Battery

Vivo Z5 dominates even when it comes to battery life. With a huge 4500 mAh unit, it will probably last more than two days on a single charge, even with a stressed use. And with its 22.5W fast charging technology, it won’t take a lot to fully charge it despite its big battery capacity. Vivo Z5 is a battery champion, but Honor 9X is still a pretty nice battery phone thanks to its very efficient processor built at 7 nm, a still big 4000 mAh battery and fast charging.

Price

Actually, you can get Vivo Z5 and Honor 9X in China only. The first carries a €209/$231 price tag in its base variant, while the second starts from just €180/$200. I do not think there is a clear winner here: if you need a bigger display and very high performances, bo for the Honor 9X. Otherwise, if you care about camera and battery life, Vivo Z5 is better than almost everything out there around €200.

Honor announced the new Honor 9X duo at an official event in China yesterday. There are two models in the lineup, the Honor 9X and the 9X Pro with both of them featuring Huawei’s 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. The new chipset offers great performance without sacrificing on efficiency with a special focus on AI. The company has priced the Honor 9X pretty aggressively to take on competitor brands such as Xiaomi and Realme. But in the process, it has set a solid sales target for the lineup.

Honor’s President George Zhao revealed to the Chinese media yesterday that the company targets to sell over 20 million units of Honor 9X duo. He added that the new phones have been aggresively priced which calls for such high sales target. On first glance, 20 million seems like a mammoth milestone for just one smartphone series. But for Honor, it might not be as hard as we think.

The Honor 8X series did really well in China last year. In fact, the brand revealed a few weeks back that a total of 15M+ units of the Honor 8X series were sold in a matter of 9 months. So, it won’t be surprising if the company manages to sell over 20 million unit of the new Honor 9X series featuring an even better Kirin 810 processor.

After the trade ban in May 2019, Huawei and Honor’s international sales were hit pretty hard. But Honor’s George Zhao revealed that the company’s international sales have improved in the past few weeks. So it’s good to see that they are coming back strong. In fact, Huawei is still said to register a shipment growth of 30% in the first half of this year.

Last week, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had confirmed that it will be soon entering into consumer electronics market with the release of ‘Honor Smart Screen’ TV. Honor India President Charles Peng has confirmed through an interview with PTI news agency that the company will be soon introducing its smart TV in India. He also revealed that the Honor 9X series of smartphones that have gone official recently in China will be also coming to India.

Peng said, “We recently announced the launch of a brand-new large-screen category, Smart Vision Smart TV. This indicates that the large-screen industry will enter the smart screen era from the traditional TV era. The first product of the new category will be officially released in early August and we might bring it to the Indian market soon.” He added, “We will launch newer products and establish an ecosystem of technologically advanced and high-quality devices in India.” 

Huawei’s sub-brand is also planning to bring Honor 8X successor to India. Peng stated, “We will launch the next X series phone in India soon. The phone is a successor to Honor 8X launched in India last year, which was a huge rage with the youth in India and has received an overwhelming response.”

Last year, Honor had released Honor 8X smartphone in India. The next X series for India could be the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro smartphone. The Honor 9X and 9X Pro smartphones feature 6.59-inch IPS LCD display with notch-less design and full HD+ resolution. Both phones feature 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. The Honor 9X comes with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB storage whereas the Pro edition features of up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The Honor 9X duo are fitted with side-mounted fingerprint scanners.

The Honor 9X and 9X Pro are packed with 4,000mAh batteries. Both phones are equipped with 16-megapixel pop-up selfie snappers. The Honor 9x has a 48-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera system. The Honor 9X Pro has 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera system. The Honor 9X has a starting price of 1,399 Yuan (~$203; Rs. 14,026) and 9X Pro’s base model costs 2,199 Yuan (~$319; ~Rs. 22,046).

Peng has further stated that India being second largest market after China for the company, it aims to gain 10 percent market share by next year. The company also wants to offer users with top notch after-sales service.

In May, the US government had imposed trade ban on Huawei which disallowed U.S. companies to work with the Chinese firm. Earlier this month, the ban was lifted with multiple restrictions. Peng said that regardless of the recent US ban, the restricted supplies from the U.S. won’t affect its smartphones.

Note that while Redmi K20 and Realme X have an in-display fingerprint reader, Honor 9X has a side-mounted scanner in order to keep the rear design clean and attractive just like its rivals.

Specs & Software

Here it is a very close fight because the chipsets found on these handsets come with very similar performances. But there is a chipset in this trio which is slightly more powerful than both its rivals: we are talking about the Snapdragon 730 inside the Redmi K20. There is no Qualcomm’s chipset better than this if we exclude the Snapdragon 800 series. And it has a really amazing GPU, so it is very nice at gaming. Further, the Redmi K20 comes in the most powerful memory configuration with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. In each case, there is a customized Android user interface on board.

Camera

It may sound weird given that its price tag is similar to the ones of its rivals, but Redmi K20 wins even the camera comparison. It has one more camera than its opponents: a useful ultrawide sensor with a 13 MP resolution. Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X Specifications and Features

The Honor 9X features a glass and metal combination chassis. Its dimensions are 163.1 x 77.2 x 8.8mm and it weighs 206 grams. The X-shaped pattern on the glass back of the phone has an attractive appeal. With no notch onboard, the Honor 9X Pro offers marvelous full screen experience through its 6.59-inch IPS LCD display. It offers 19.5:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution. The TUV Rheinland certified display protects users from the detrimental blue rays emitted by the screen.

Honor 9X Pro Price and Release Date

According to the Tianyi store listing of China Telecom, the Honor 9X Pro that has a model number of HLK-AL00 will be available in two models in China such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. The listing reveals that the latter will be priced at 2,999 Yuan. The publication did not reveal the pricing of the 128 GB storage model of the Honor 9X Pro.

It will be available in colors like Magic Night Black, Phantom Blue and Phantom Violet. The listing says that the Honor 9X Pro will be releasing in the Chinese market on July 25. The images of the phone available on the listing shows the marvelous X-shaped pattern on its Phantom Blue color edition.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is all set to launch its two new smartphones — Honor 9X and 9X Pro at a launch event in China tomorrow. Ahead of the launch, the company has teased a couple of new features of the upcoming smartphone.

In new teaser posters shared by the company on Weibo, it says that the Honor 9X will be offering much stronger Wi-Fi performance. Some officials say that it will have Super Wi-Fi penetration and can receive signals penetrating two walls.

As for the heat dissipation, the company revealed that the smartphone will have a liquid-cooling technology. This will ensure that the phone doesn’t get heated up and keeps providing better performance.

From what’s known so far, the smartphone will come featuring a 48-megapixel AI triple camera setup on the back panel where it will have a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 as the primary camera sensor. The company adds that the phone captures stunning images during night time without the need of the LED Flash.

As for the camera configuration of the Honor 9X Pro, it is being reported that it will have the same camera setup as the Honor 20 Pro, which is currently placed second in camera performance by DxOMark.

It’s already been confirmed that the Honor 9X series smartphones are powered by the company’s newly announced Kirin 810 octa-core processor, manufactured using the 7nm process. The company has revealed that the Kirin 810 is one of the nine major features of the smartphone and more will be revealed at the launch event.

Both the smartphones will come with a notch-less display, as revealed by the leaked renders. The Honor 9X will have a pop-up front-facing camera and will reportedly come featuring a 6.59-inch IPS Full HD+ display, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
