MWC 2026 introduced a wide range of new devices, from flagship smartphones to experimental concepts. Huawei led the announcements with the Huawei Mate 80 Pro, a flagship smartphone featuring a 3000-nit OLED display, variable-aperture camera, and strong durability ratings. The company also revealed the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2, a titanium running smartwatch with dual-band GPS and long sports tracking battery life.

Honor showcased the Honor Magic V6 foldable, notable for its thin 4 mm open profile and 6,660 mAh battery. Lenovo presented the Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept and the Lenovo Legion Go Fold Concept gaming handheld, while XGIMI MemoMind One glasses and the Lenovo ThinkTab X11 rugged tablet also drew attention.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro – Best Smartphone

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro marks Huawei’s first global Mate flagship since 2022. It features a 6.75-inch flat OLED display with adaptive refresh from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and peak brightness of 3000 nits. While the brand has not confirmed it, the device likely uses Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9030 Pro processor with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

The camera system includes a 50 MP Ultra Lighting main sensor with variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical image stabilization. It also has a 40 MP ultra-wide camera and a 48 MP 4× telephoto camera with up to 100× zoom. A 13 MP autofocus front camera sits in a punch-hole cutout. The phone uses a 5,750 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired charging and 80 W wireless SuperCharge.

Huawei also focused on durability. The phone uses second-generation Kunlun glass, a vegan fiber frame, and IP68 and IP69 protection against water and dust. It is rated to survive up to 6 meters of water submersion and high-pressure water jets. The device runs EMUI 15 globally, while the Chinese version uses HarmonyOS 6. The design includes Huawei’s Dual Space Rings camera layout with two circular rings.

The Huawei Mate 80 Series didn’t just win at MWC; It is also a declaration of return. The Mate80 Series represents a pinnacle of hardware engineering. The integration of the brand-new chipset delivers a thermal efficiency and sustained performance that outclass much of the competition. However, the true standout is the imaging system—by re-architecting the sensor layout and leveraging AI-driven computational photography, Huawei has effectively closed the gap on optical zoom, offering focal lengths previously unattainable in a consumer device. As for the rest, it is, quite simply, the most technically accomplished smartphone on the market.

Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 – Best Wearable

The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is designed for runners and endurance athletes. It uses a titanium alloy case measuring 43.5 mm and only 10.7 mm thick. The watch weighs about 34.5 g. The display is a 1.32-inch AMOLED panel with 466×466 resolution and 3000-nit brightness, protected by second-generation Kunlun glass.

Huawei added a new 3D floating antenna system with dual-band GPS using L1 and L5 signals. The company says this improves positioning accuracy by about 20 percent in dense cities or tunnels.

The watch includes an Intelligent Marathon Mode developed with DSM-Firmenich. It offers structured training plans, pace charts, finish predictions, and digital pacing guidance.

The device supports more than 100 sports modes, including triathlon, trail running, golf, and freediving down to 40 meters. It also tracks ECG, blood oxygen, sleep, and stress. The watch has 5 ATM water resistance and an IP69 rating. Battery life is rated at up to 14 days for light use, 7 days for typical use, or about 32 hours with GPS tracking enabled.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2 redefines sports wearables. Its ‘Best Smart Wearable’ win was largely attributed to its industry-leading biomechanical tracking precision and optimized experience for humanity’s oldest sport – running. With refined 3D floating antenna for ‘the best distance, pace, and route tracking performance ever’ and advanced running dynamics, it delivers lab-grade analytics directly to the wrist—bridging the gap between casual fitness trackers and professional coaching tools.

Honor Magic V6 – Best Foldable

Honor’s latest flagship foldable, the Magic V6, pushed two records: at 8.75 mm folded (4 mm open) it’s the thinnest foldable yet, and it packs a gargantuan battery (6,660 mAh) for all-day life.

It runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. The inner display is a 7.95-inch LTPO2 AMOLED panel with 2352×2172 resolution, 1–120 Hz refresh rate, and 5000-nit peak brightness. The outer display is a 6.52-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 2420 × 1080 resolution and up to 6000 nits brightness. Both displays support stylus input. The phone includes high-frequency PWM dimming, anti-reflective coating that reduces glare by 33 percent, and true 10-bit color.

Honor engineered a new Super Steel Hinge (2800 MPa steel) tested for 500k folds and a reinforced Ultra-Thin Glass, while the crease is claimed to be “minimal, imperceptible.”

The camera setup includes a 50 MP main camera with OIS and variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0, a 64 MP periscope telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom and OIS, and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera.

It runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16 and will receive seven years of OS updates. Honor says the device is the first foldable to receive TÜV Rheinland certification for 24-hour battery life thanks to its silicon-carbon blade battery with 32 percent silicon.

The HONOR Magic V6 redefines what a foldable can be. By packing a groundbreaking 6660mAh silicon-carbon battery into a chassis just 4mm thin when unfolded, Honor has shattered the compromise between portability and endurance. Meanwhile, its rich AI software capabilities also give its large external display more versatile applications.

Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept – Best Concept

The Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept is a flexible laptop idea designed for business users. The base unit has a 14-inch display. Additional modules such as keyboards, ports, and extra displays attach using Lenovo’s Magic Bay pogo-pin connector system.

A second 14-inch display can attach to the lid for face-to-face viewing or sit beside the laptop as a vertical monitor. Removing the keyboard allows both displays to form a 19-inch dual-screen workstation.

Users can also swap I/O modules such as USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI without replacing the entire device. Lenovo designed the system with repairability and long product lifecycles in mind. Pricing and release plans have not been announced since it remains a concept.

The XGIMI MemoMind One AI glasses bring assistant features into lightweight eyewear. The glasses weigh about 30 g and use dual microLED waveguide displays to project information onto the lenses. They do not include cameras to address privacy concerns.

Built-in speakers and microphones support voice commands for AI chat, translations, reminders, and summaries. During demonstrations, the glasses translated conversations between Chinese and English and created reminders such as flight check-in alerts.

The glasses resemble regular frames but have thicker temples that hold the battery and projection hardware. Users see subtle green text overlays for notifications, calendar updates, and weather.

The glasses run a hybrid operating system that switches between multiple AI models on the device. Battery life is about 16 hours per charge, and XGIMI is developing a charging case for extended use.

While competitors force users to cross their eyes at single-square projections, MemoMind’s dual-eye waveguide display delivers crisp, natural text across both lenses—making augmented information feel like an extension of normal vision.

Lenovo ThinkTab X11 – Rugged Tablet

The Lenovo ThinkTab X11 is a rugged Android tablet built for logistics, construction, and field work. It features a 10.95-inch LCD display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 600-nit brightness that works with gloves or wet hands.

The tablet runs the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor with up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB UFS storage. Its chassis is MIL-STD-810H certified and IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. The device also has a removable back panel with a screwless latch.

The tablet supports a battery-less mode that allows operation from external power sources such as vehicles. It includes two USB-C ports for charging and peripherals, NFC support, and a 10,200 mAh battery.

The tablet runs Android 14 with enterprise management features. Lenovo confirmed a starting price of about €499, or roughly $540, with an April 2026 launch.

Lenovo Legion Go Fold Concept – Foldable Gaming Handheld

The Lenovo Legion Go Fold Concept is a unique gaming handheld that takes advantage of advancements in foldable display technology, allowing it to function as a 3-in-1 device: a gaming console, a tablet, and a mini laptop.

When folded, it uses a 7.7-inch 1600p POLED display with detachable magnetic controllers. When unfolded, the display expands to 11.6 inches.

The device supports several modes. Standard handheld mode uses the 7.7-inch display. Vertical split-screen mode unfolds the display into two stacked panels so users can play a game on one side while viewing guides or chat on the other.

Horizon mode rotates the unfolded display into an 11.6-inch landscape gaming screen. Desktop mode allows the device to connect to a dock with a wireless keyboard and touchpad.

The system runs on an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor with 32 GB RAM and a 48 Wh battery. The right controller includes a touchscreen for shortcuts and performance stats. The device runs Windows 11 and supports PC game libraries. Since it is still a concept, Lenovo has not announced pricing or release plans.

TCL has officially introduced the RayNeo Air 4 Pro AR glasses to global markets at CES 2026. RayNeo Air 4 Pro Specifications

Just like the Air 3s series, the Air 4 Pro creates a personal cinema-like experience using a 201-inch virtual screen at a 6-meter viewing distance. The glasses use a custom Vision 4000 processor that supports real-time video enhancements, including SDR-to-HDR upscaling and 2D-to-3D conversion. The display aims to deliver brighter highlights, deeper contrast, and over a billion colors with HDR10 support.

The device weighs just 76g and features adjustable nose pads for added comfort. RayNeo designed the Air 4 Pro for all-day wear and travel. The audio system includes four speakers and directional sound tubes that reduce leakage. The tuning was done in collaboration with B&O Sound Lab to ensure clarity and spatial separation.

The Air 4 Pro connects to smartphones, laptops, tablets, and gaming consoles like the Switch 2 via USB-C. It supports any device with video output, allowing users to watch movies, play games, or browse apps on a large, private display.

TCL has priced the RayNeo Air 4 Pro at $299. The global launch is set for January 25.

RayNeo also showcased its flagship AR headset, the X3 Pro. This model features AI-powered functions, a 43-inch floating display, and real-time translation across multiple languages. It runs on Android and supports apps such as YouTube and TikTok. The company also presented a prototype version with eSIM support to explore standalone spatial computing.

Smart glasses usually mean cameras, displays, or voice assistants. But a new startup called Povec Optics is trying something different. At CES 2026, the startup made its first public appearance with a pair of sunglasses that focus entirely on one problem: changing light.

The company’s debut product, called the Povec C1, uses electrochromic lenses that can shift tint in about one second. Instead of relying on automatic sensors alone, these glasses let the wearer decide how dark the lenses should be at any given moment. That makes them less about “smart features” and more about control.

Povec positions the C1 as sunglasses for people who move through unpredictable lighting. It could be early-morning runs, mountain bike trails with tree cover, or time spent on open water where glare can change quickly. 

In such varying situations, fixed-tint lenses can feel limiting, and even photochromic lenses don’t always react fast enough. Povec’s approach puts adjustment directly in the user’s hands.

Povec C1 lets you adjust glasses’ tint in real-time

The core of the Povec C1 is electrochromic technology, which changes lens color when a low-voltage current passes through layered conductive materials. However, this isn’t brand-new tech. 

We have seen a similar system in use in high-end cars for things like rearview mirrors and panoramic sunroofs. What Povec claims to have done differently is shrinking that automotive-grade system down enough to fit into a slim pair of glasses.

You can control the tint through a touch-sensitive strip along the temples. A simple slide adjusts the tint from light shade to very dark. 

According to co-founder Alexis Marc Pons, the idea is to give users precise control rather than guessing what the lighting conditions require. The lens shade follows the movement of your finger, changing instantly as you adjust it.

Beyond tint control, the lenses include UV400 protection and anti-glare treatment. Povec also says the lenses are impact-resistant and have passed steel ball drop tests.

The glasses are rated to run up to 28 days on a single charge if used around four hours a day. It charges via USB-C, and the glasses automatically wake when unfolded and go to sleep when stored. 

The frame itself is made from lightweight TR90 material and carries an IP65 rating, meaning it should handle sweat, rain, and splashes without issue. Povec also includes three interchangeable nose pads so users can fine-tune the fit for long sessions.

Povec Optics is planning to release the Povec C1 in May 2026, and the price could range somewhere between $250 and $350.

Xreal has officially launched the Xreal 1S AR glasses and the Xreal Neo power hub for the global market. The announcement follows the brand’s recent debut in Japan and marks the latest expansion of the Xreal One Series product lineup.

Xreal 1S Specifications

The Xreal 1S serves as a refreshed model in the One Series lineup, replacing the original Xreal One glasses from 2024. It features a Full HD 1200p display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and delivers peak brightness of up to 700 nits. The glasses provide a 52-degree field of view and support a 120Hz refresh rate.

Xreal has equipped the 1S with Sound by Bose audio, tuned by Bose engineers. The glasses weigh 82 grams, feature electrochromic dimming that adapts to ambient lighting, and carry TUV Rheinland eye comfort certification.

The Xreal 1S is powered by the Xreal X1 chip and supports native 3DoF tracking, enabling users to anchor virtual screens and expand to wider aspect ratios like 21:9 and 32:9. It supports screen sizes up to 500 inches. The USB-C port is reinforced for travel, and the glasses ship with a new protective case. The device is compatible with the Xreal Eye module, which adds 6DoF spatial anchoring and camera-based features.

Xreal has priced the 1S at $449 in the US.

Xreal Neo Specifications

Xreal Neo is a portable power hub that acts as both a 10,000mAh power bank and a DisplayPort Alt Mode video adapter. It allows Xreal AR glasses to connect directly to devices like the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 without using a dock. It also supports up to 1200p at 120Hz output when used with devices like the Steam Deck.

The Neo includes a built-in USB-C cable, magnetic connector, and a fold-out metal kickstand. It supports 30W input and 20W output when running on battery. When connected to a wall adapter of 65W or higher, it supports output up to 45W for fast charging of handheld consoles and phones.

Xreal Neo is priced at $99 for early buyers between January 4 and February 4. After the launch window, it will retail for $119. Xreal plans to start shipping the Neo in February 2026.

Traffic police usually rely on radios, handheld scanners, and a lot of manual checks to keep roads moving. But in Changsha, China, that job is starting to look very different. 

Local traffic officers are now taking help from AI-powered smart glasses to identify vehicles and driver details in a matter of seconds. 

According to an official announcement from the Changsha Traffic Police on December 13, the Changsha Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Detachment has equipped its frontline officers with new AI-powered glasses. 

Traffic police in China are using AI glasses for vehicle monitoring 

The device is lightweight and looks like a normal pair from a distance. But what it does best is show the vehicle’s information at a glance in one or two seconds. Officers can read the details on a built-in display without breaking their stride. 

The glasses are equipped with a 12MP wide-angle camera and a predictive image-stabilization algorithm designed to keep images clear, even when officers are on the move or working in heavy traffic. On a full charge, they are rated to operate continuously for up to eight hours.

One of the most important features of these glasses is automatic license plate recognition. The system works offline with an accuracy rate of over 99% and delivers results in under one second. It’s also designed to work reliably in different lighting conditions, whether it’s bright daylight or nighttime traffic.

Once the system identifies a vehicle, the glasses connect to the public security traffic database in real time and pull up details such as registration information, inspection status, and violation records. 

The glasses extend beyond vehicle tracking. They also support facial recognition, real-time voice translation in more than 10 languages, and on-site video recording for law enforcement.

Thanks to this system, inspection time for a single lane has reportedly dropped from about 30 seconds to just one or two seconds. It also reduces manual work, lowers stress for officers, enables non-contact enforcement, and helps make roadside checks safer and more accurate.

Meta and Ray-Ban have launched the second generation of their AI-powered smart glasses in India. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses are now available through Ray-Ban India and authorized retailers, with prices starting at ₹39,900 ($444) and going up to ₹45,700 ($508) depending on the frame and lens combination.

Specifications

The new model features a 12MP ultra-wide camera capable of recording 3K Ultra HD video for up to three minutes. Meta has improved image quality with ultrawide HDR and plans to roll out new camera modes like slow motion and hyperlapse through future software updates.

Meta has also upgraded the audio system. The Gen 2 glasses use a five-micro speaker setup that offers louder sound, deeper bass, and better directional audio. The touchpad and capture button support tap-based controls for music playback, photo capture, and messaging.

Battery life now lasts up to 8 hours on a single charge. The included charging case provides an additional 48 hours of power. Fast charging allows users to reach 50% charge in just 20 minutes. Meta says the glasses also support up to 5.4 hours of voice calls and 5 hours of music playback.

The Meta AI assistant now supports full Hindi voice functionality, which users can initiate by saying “Hey Meta.” This allows the assistant to handle commands for actions like snapping photos, dispatching messages, and regulating music. The assistant can now speak using Deepika Padukone’s AI-generated voice, which joins Meta’s global lineup of celebrity voices.

Meta is also set to introduce support for UPI Lite payments in India. This feature will allow users to scan QR codes using the glasses and finalize transactions through WhatsApp-linked bank accounts.

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 collection includes updated versions of the Wayfarer, Headliner, and Skyler styles. Seasonal colors such as Shiny Cosmic Blue and Mystic Violet are also available.

Alibaba’s Quark AI glasses, launched earlier this month, have now officially gone on sale in China. The company has opened purchases for three variants of the flagship S1 model and three versions of the more affordable G1 model. Both series pair with Alibaba’s new Qwen App, which uses the company’s in-house AI system to provide voice- and touch-based assistance.

The Quark AI Glasses S1 function as a wearable AI assistant for real-time translation, object recognition, POV video capture and voice interaction. The device runs on Alibaba’s Qwen large language model to provide hands-free access to contextual information throughout the day.

The S1 uses dual Micro LED light engines and diffractive waveguide lenses, delivering up to 2,300 nits of eye brightness. Users can adjust both the viewing distance and display height, and Alibaba supports prescription lenses from 0 to 800 degrees in 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 refractive index options. The frame weighs 51g and uses a 7.5mm slim temple arm with balanced weight distribution.

The device runs on a dual-chip setup combining Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 for AR tasks and the BES2800 chip for audio. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6. The S1 features five microphones, including a bone-conduction mic, and dual 10mm speakers.

Imaging is handled by a Sony IMX681 sensor with a 109-degree field of view. It captures 4032×3024 photos and records 3K 30fps video with EIS stabilization, Super Night Mode and instant capture support.

Power comes from two 280mAh swappable batteries housed in the temples. Users can extend usage with a 700mAh MiniBag dock, a 2500mAh charging case or a USB-C fast-charging clip that delivers 50 percent power in 10 minutes. Expected runtimes include 45 minutes of calling, 2.5 hours of music, 20 minutes of navigation and 15 short video clips. The glasses offer up to 7 hours of active use, 25 hours of standby time and IPX4 splash resistance. They also support Apple’s MFi standard.

Pricing & availability

Alibaba has yet to disclose whether the glasses will be sold outside China. The S1 and G1 are currently listed on Chinese e-commerce platforms at ¥3,799 ($537) and ¥1,899 ($268).

Samsung has filed a new patent for an augmented reality wearable device that could lead to more comfortable smart glasses. The filing, published as US 2025/0347929 A1, describes a new hinge system featuring a pulley-and-cable mechanism designed to enhance fit, balance, and long-term wearability.

Dual-axis hinge and pulley system target better fit and stability

The design shows a dual-axis hinge mechanism that connects the main body of the glasses to the temple arms. The system uses two separate rotation shafts, one attached to the frame and the other to the arms, allowing for multi-angle adjustments. This layout supports a better fit for different head sizes without applying excessive pressure.

Samsung has also integrated a pulley-and-cable system inside the hinge. Two pulleys, positioned on each side of the frame, are connected by a flexible wire. When one temple arm moves, the other adjusts in sync. This mechanical synchronization ensures both sides expand and contract uniformly, improving balance and minimizing slippage during use.

According to the patent, this setup enhances long-term comfort and stability during motion-based AR interactions. It also helps distribute mechanical stress evenly, which could increase durability and reduce wear over time.

Samsung has not confirmed whether this exact design will appear in its upcoming AR glasses. However, recent leaks suggest that the company’s next wearable, reportedly designated by the model number SM-O200P, is on the way. Samsung plans to introduce a screenless pair in 2026, followed by a display-equipped model in 2027.

Early details hint that the first version may use Transitions-style photochromic lenses and include a camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Samsung has already secured the Galaxy Glasses trademark, and the product is expected to debut in the US and other markets.

Samsung is also collaborating with eyewear brands such as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to ensure the final product balances style and usability.

The whole industry started with more promise than practicality. The early smart glasses hardware looked unfinished, the features were limited, and most people didn’t want to walk around with something that made them look like a test pilot. After that, the category stayed quiet for years.

But things have changed quietly in the past few years. Smaller chips, better cameras, and more power-efficient displays have made it possible for a smart glass to look like a normal shade while offering smart features. 

But even with all these improvements, buying smart glasses can still be confusing. Every company promises a different vision of what these glasses should be. Some focus on AI features, some want to be your wearable camera, and some are basically just Bluetooth headphones shaped like glasses. 

So before you choose a pair, it’s worth knowing what you need smart glasses for and what actually matters in them.

Decide What Type of Smart Glasses You Actually Want

Let’s start with the basics. Since the market is now crowded with types of smart glasses, it’s only natural to learn first about them. 

Audio-only smart glasses

These look like regular glasses but have speakers in the temples. They’re mainly for listening to music, taking calls, or using voice assistants hands-free. They don’t have displays or cameras.

These are lightweight, the battery lasts longer, and they’re usually the cheapest option. But don’t expect them to do anything beyond audio tasks.

Camera-equipped smart glasses

These include products like the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. They look normal but include one or two small cameras for capturing photos/videos and live-streaming. They usually support voice control and have open-ear speakers.

These are more useful if you’re into hands-free content creation, travel photography, or documenting daily life without pulling out your phone. But they also raise privacy concerns and may not be welcome everywhere.

Display-based smart glasses

These are the closest to “true” smart glasses. They use a tiny projector or microOLED display to show notifications, navigation directions, or other information in your field of view.

These are the most technically impressive but also the most limited in battery life. The display is usually small and meant for brief glances rather than long interactions.

Before you start comparing specs, figure out which type matches your needs. Buying display glasses when you only wanted good audio won’t make sense, and vice versa.

Check How Natural They Look and Feel

One of the biggest improvements in this industry is design. Early smart glasses resembled bulky, experimental pieces with thick frames and temples. 

That’s certainly not the case anymore, and in fact, the newer ones even come with a polarizing lens and stylish designs, making it easy to wear in public without attracting attention. Still, there are things to keep in check. 

Weight

Anything over 50–55 grams might start to feel heavy on the nose and ears after an hour. Display-equipped glasses often go beyond that, so try to find the lightest model that still offers the features you need.

Fit

Smart glasses must feel like normal eyewear. Thick temples, tight frames, or uneven weight distribution can make them tiring to use.

Prescription lenses

If you wear glasses already, check whether the model supports prescription lenses and whether the brand offers them officially. Not all frames can be adjusted by your local optician.

Battery Life

Battery life is one area where progress has been slow. Even the best smart glasses today struggle to last a full day if you use all the features.

Audio-only models usually offer 4–6 hours of continuous playback. For glasses with cameras, the battery life heavily depends on how you use them. If you click more photos and videos, you can easily deplete their battery in less than an hour. 

And it’s not getting any better with the ones with display built-in. The projector consumes more power than you expect. You can expect these glasses to last only a few hours with the display active.

Camera Quality and Privacy Considerations

If the glasses have a camera, don’t expect smartphone-level quality. Sensors are tiny, and processing power is limited.

Things to check:

• Resolution: 1080p is common; anything higher is a bonus.
• Low-light performance: Most struggle in the dark.
• Stabilization: Useful if you’re walking while recording.
• Audio capture: Important for vlogging or live-streaming.

But the more important thing is privacy. Wearing a camera on your face isn’t the same as holding a phone. Some people will be uncomfortable around you. Some places may ban them outright.

Brands have added LED indicators to show when recording is active, but it’s still your responsibility to be aware of your surroundings. If you’re uncomfortable with these social rules, camera glasses may not be for you.

Display Quality (If Your Glasses Have One)

Not all smart glasses have displays in them. But it’s surely becoming mainstream, take Meta RayBan Display for instance. You should consider a few things before buying one with a display:

• Brightness: Can you see the display outdoors?
• Field of view: Wider is more comfortable.
• Color vs. monochrome: Basic displays are often monochrome.
• Clarity: Some displays look grainy or low-res.

Smart glasses displays are usually useful for quick glances, and are still not ready to replace your smartphones.

Alibaba has officially announced the launch of its first self-developed smart glasses, the Quark AI Glasses S1. The product is set to release on November 27 and is currently available for pre-order on major Chinese e-commerce platforms. It is priced at 3,999 yuan (approximately $560).

Alibaba Quark AI Glasses S1 Specifications

The Quark AI Glasses S1 is designed as a wearable AI assistant. It supports functions such as real-time translation, object recognition, POV video recording, and voice interaction. The glasses run on Alibaba’s proprietary Qwen large language model and aim to provide users with seamless access to AI-driven assistance throughout the day.

The glasses feature dual Micro LED light engines with diffractive waveguide lenses. The display delivers up to 2,300 nits of eye brightness and allows users to adjust distance and height for a personalized fit. Alibaba supports prescription lenses ranging from 0 to 800 degrees, with refractive indices of 1.6, 1.67, or 1.74. The frame weighs 51g and uses a 7.5mm ultra-slim temple arm design with a 1:1 front-to-back balance for comfort.

Alibaba uses a dual-chip system that includes the Snapdragon AR1 for AR processing and the BES BES2800 for audio functions. The Quark S1 supports Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6 and includes five microphones, including a bone-conduction mic, as well as dual 10mm speakers.

The device includes a Sony IMX681 sensor with a 109-degree field of view. It captures 4032×3024 photos and records 3K video at 30fps. The camera system supports EIS stabilization, Super Night Mode, and instant capture.

Power comes from two 280mAh swappable batteries located in the temple arms. The system allows for continuous usage through battery swapping. Alibaba provides three charging options: a MiniBag dock with 700mAh capacity, a 2500mAh charging case, and a USB-C fast-charging clip that delivers 50 percent power in 10 minutes.

Typical usage scenarios include 45 minutes of calling, 2.5 hours of music playback, 20 minutes of navigation, and 15 short video recordings. The glasses deliver up to 7 hours of active use and 25 hours of standby time. They are IPX4-rated for splash resistance and support Apple’s MFi standard for wider device compatibility.

Meizu has officially entered the wearable AI race with the launch of its StarV Snap smart glasses. The glasses are now available in China, starting at 1,999 yuan (roughly $280).

Meizu StarV Snap Specifications

The StarV Snap weighs just 39 grams. Meizu said the glasses underwent more than 50 rounds of ergonomic refinement to ensure a balanced 1:1 weight distribution. The frame features titanium-alloy hinges, soft curved temple tips, and a breathable curved design for improved comfort. The glasses are available in two color options: Amber Brown and Midnight Black, and support interchangeable lenses, including optical, photochromic, and sunglasses.

Meizu has equipped the glasses with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 109-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture. It uses a custom 5P optical glass lens and supports video recording in both landscape and portrait modes. The glasses can shoot continuously for up to 40 minutes at 1080p or 60 minutes at 720p. Meizu’s imaging system also supports HDR, EIS stabilization, noise reduction, portrait enhancement, and horizon correction.

The glasses use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. This setup powers on-device AI features and manages heat during extended use. The audio system includes dual open-ear stereo speakers and a four-microphone array with AI noise reduction for clear voice pickup.

The device features a built-in AI assistant that handles voice transcription, object recognition, real-time translation in 12 languages, and contextual suggestions. These functions can be accessed through a dedicated AI button or via voice commands. The low-power voice control system enables direct interaction without requiring a wake word.

The StarV Snap features an 183mAh battery that supports up to 3 hours of music playback, 40 minutes of 1080p video recording, or 50 hours of standby time. Rollme has launched its latest smart eyewear product, the NeoView AI Smart Glasses, as the successor to the earlier AirView model. The company aims to position the NeoView as a practical and affordable AI-powered accessory for everyday use.

I’ve been writing about AR and XR glasses for a while, but the RayNeo Air 3s Pro is the first pair I’ve personally lived with for more than two weeks. Going in, I knew what to expect on paper: a brighter display than the standard Air 3s, upgraded audio, and some ergonomic refinements. What I didn’t expect was how much the “big screen anywhere” promise would actually hold up in practice.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve watched movies, gamed a little, and used the glasses as an external display for my laptop. The Air 3s Pro is not trying to be a futuristic mixed-reality headset. It’s a personal display, an external monitor you wear on your face. But in that narrow focus, it often shines brighter (literally and figuratively) than many of its rivals.

That said, these glasses aren’t perfect. But at $299, they sit in an approachable space where XR glasses start to make sense.

What’s in the Box

RayNeo keeps things simple. Inside the retail box, you’ll find:

• Air 3s Pro glasses in matte black
• Soft felt carrying pouch
• 1.2-meter USB-C cable with a downward-angled connector
• Two swappable nose pads
• Prescription lens frame insert
• Quick start guide

That’s it. There’s no hard-shell travel case, no lens shade for ambient light reduction, and no optional adapters like the Pocket TV or JoyDock in my unit. RayNeo sells those separately. I really wish a braided cable and rigid case were included. These accessories aren’t just nice to have; they’re necessary for travel and daily wear.

Design and Build Quality

The Air 3s Pro looks nearly identical to the standard Air 3s but swaps the chrome highlights for a full matte black treatment. The design feels less flashy and more understated, which I prefer for commuting or casual public use.

It weighs 76 grams and is built from plastic that feels solid, not fragile. The matte coating helps cut down on fingerprints and unwanted reflections. The 9-point FlexiFit system remains, letting me tilt the lens arms, tweak the nose pad angles, and dial in a comfortable fit without much hassle.

There’s no smartphone app to mess with; everything happens right on the glasses. Brightness controls live on the right side, volume and menu buttons on the left. Hit that menu button, and you get an overlay with settings for refresh rate, audio modes, and color profiles. The USB-C port sits under the right temple, and while that angled connector helps the cable hang naturally, I still found it stiffer than I’d like.

The built-in visor blocks most ambient light, but it’s not a total blackout. In bright rooms or outdoors, you’ll definitely notice some glare creeping in. Unlike the Xreal Air 2 Pro, there’s no fancy electrochromic dimming, though RayNeo is apparently selling a clip-on shade accessory now.

Features

The hardware specs are impressive for the price.

Each eye sees a 0.6-inch Sony micro-OLED display pushing 1920×1080 resolution at up to 120Hz. The peak brightness reaches 1,200 nits thanks to RayNeo’s new tandem OLED light engine, and it supports 20 brightness steps for granular control. These are the brightest AR glasses I’ve used to date.

The visuals are powered by RayNeo’s HueView 2.0 system, which promises sharper edges, accurate colors, and better contrast. It hits 98% of the DCI-P3 color space and maintains ΔE < 2 color accuracy, which shows in movies and HDR video. Contrast is rated at 200,000 to 1, and it really helps blacks stay black and highlights pop.

There are six display presets: Movie, Game, Standard, Professional, Eye-Care, and Vision Boost. Eye-Care mode introduces a warmer tone to reduce strain in dark rooms.

Spatial audio is also here. RayNeo has built four speakers into the arms, two per side, using what they call a dual opposing acoustic chamber design. Sound is directed toward your ears while minimizing leakage. Whisper Mode 2.0 uses phase cancellation to prevent others nearby from hearing what you’re playing, unless the volume is maxed.

You can watch 3D SBS video too. Holding both rockers switches into 3D mode, and the depth effect is more convincing than I expected.

What’s missing: adjustable IPD, built-in diopter correction, and any screen repositioning. If your eyes don’t naturally align with the 14 by 7 mm eyebox, image sharpness may suffer.

Comfort

This was honestly what I was most curious about, and I’m happy to report that comfort really isn’t an issue. At 76 grams, they’re light enough for movie marathons or multi-hour work sessions without causing fatigue.

RayNeo says they reduced the clamping force by 15% compared to the standard Air 3s, and I can feel the difference. Once you get the fit dialed in, they just feel like wearing a chunky pair of sunglasses.

The nose pads are soft and flexible, and that adjustment system really does accommodate different face shapes well. It took me a few minutes of fiddling to get the temple angle and nose pad position just right, but once I did, everything clicked.

If you wear prescription glasses, trying to layer these on top is pretty awkward and gets uncomfortable fast. The prescription insert works if you want to invest in custom lenses, but that’s extra money on top of an already $299 purchase.

The only real discomfort I noticed was during longer sessions, my right temple area would get a bit warm after an hour or so, though never uncomfortably hot. Also, because the cable exits downward and slightly back, I couldn’t comfortably lean against a pillow or couch arm without it poking me awkwardly. I would’ve loved a side-mounted port or at least a swappable cable design for people who like to use these while lying down.

And can we talk about that cable for a second? The rubber coating feels pretty basic, almost cheap. For something that’s supposed to be portable entertainment gear, a braided cable should’ve been standard.

Performance

During my testing, the Air 3s Pro mostly served as a second screen for my Asus laptop, and in that role, they were excellent. The display genuinely feels like a 201-inch screen floating a few feet in front of you.

And the display is so bright that most of the time you won’t even need full brightness to enjoy movies or games. Even at 60% brightness, everything looks bright and crisp. I could write emails, scroll the web, or binge on entire movies while sitting comfortably.

Movies looked absolutely stunning. Those OLED blacks, the vibrant colors, the strong contrast, it all adds up to something that genuinely feels cinematic. Watching Oppenheimer and Interstellar on these glasses came surprisingly close to that mini-theater experience. I ran everything at 120Hz when possible, and you can really see the difference in fast motion, whether you’re gaming or just scrolling through web pages.

Gaming wasn’t my main focus, but I tested a few titles on my laptop. Latency was minimal, motion blur was well controlled, and the high refresh rate made everything feel responsive.

The one display quirk I noticed is that the bottom edge curves inward slightly. You might miss it during movies, but it can clip UI elements like the Windows taskbar clock or game HUDs that sit in the corners. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of.

Audio quality genuinely surprised me. That four-speaker setup delivers clear dialogue, solid bass response, and convincing stereo separation. The spatial audio mode adds a sense of width and height that works particularly well for games and movies. Whisper Mode actually works too, I played a podcast at moderate volume while sitting next to someone, and they couldn’t hear anything.

That kind of private listening experience without needing earbuds or noise cancellation makes these perfect for shared spaces. I could enjoy my content while still being aware of what’s happening around me.

My biggest limitation was mobile compatibility. I daily drive an iPhone 14 Pro, and since these glasses need a USB-C DisplayPort connection, I couldn’t use them directly. RayNeo didn’t include any adapters with my review unit, so I couldn’t test the full mobile experience properly. I also didn’t get the Pocket TV accessory, which could’ve offered a completely different experience and possibly changed my overall opinion.

I did briefly test them with a friend’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Samsung DeX worked flawlessly. But without those adapters, your mobile experience will totally depend on what devices you already own.

Final Thoughts

The RayNeo Air 3s Pro isn’t trying to revolutionize AR. It won’t pin virtual windows around your living room, it doesn’t do 6DOF head tracking, and it’s not going to replace your main monitor. But as a personal entertainment device? It’s genuinely impressive.

If you love movies, travel frequently, or just want a second screen without the desk space requirements, this is one of the best plug-and-play options available right now. The display is sharp, the brightness is industry-leading, and the audio is good enough that you can ditch your earbuds entirely.

The limitations matter: no dimmable visor, no IPD or diopter adjustment, and that awkward cable situation for certain use cases. But for $299, you’re getting an OLED personal theater with solid audio and broad device compatibility. That value proposition is pretty hard to argue with.

We’ve been hearing about Samsung‘s smart glasses for some time now, and the company even trademarked the name “Galaxy Glasses” back in 2023. In a new development, Samsung has now filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization for its smart glasses.

Uncovered by Patently Apple, the patent shows us the possible design of Samsung’s smart glasses along with its charging case.

While the design of the glasses doesn’t stray far from that of regular spectacles, the patent does reveal some technical details about it.

You can see the lenses at their default place, but its left rim has magnetic connection points that will allow the glasses to charge while placed on their cover. The batteries, as you can see in the FIG.6, are located within each temple tip.

Curiously, the patent makes no mention of cameras or sensors – components commonly expected in XR devices. While I’m not sure, this particular patent may focus solely on the physical design. And Samsung might file separate, subsequent patents covering the more complex technical aspects of an invention.

Additionally, the image FIG. 4B in the patent shows the internal configuration of the wearable device while the images FIG. 7B and 7C show the charging case design.

While the patent does offer some insights, it’s too early to say if Samsung will actually launch this product. Not all patented ideas become real products.

We’ll likely need to wait for further leaks or official announcements from Samsung to get a clearer picture.

For those unaware, this offers smart audio and AI features and might offer some of the augmented reality features of the Vision Pro as well.

Furthermore, a smart ring could also be planned for the future. Such a gadget comes packed with various health related sensors. These could be a viable alternative for users who dislike smartwatches like the Apple Watch. Both the smart ring and smart glasses appear to be in the early conceptual stages at the moment. On the other hand, the AirPods with a camera built into it might be in the works.

Gurman claims that the iPhone maker is looking into ways to add a camera on the AirPods TWS. He adds that the project has the codename B798 internally. This project talks about the AirPods with low resolution camera sensors. Apple is mulling over these projects to bring AI and health features, as per the report. One significant improvement is the impressive battery life. It delivers up to eleven hours of music playback and nine hours of call time. Even more impressive is its rapid charging capability – just 10 minutes of charging provides three hours of usage, with a full charge taking just 50 minutes.

Crafted with a lightweight titanium frame weighing only 4.7 grams, these glasses offer both style and comfort. Users can even opt for Zeiss prescription lenses, blending fashion with functionality. With an IP54 rating, the Eyewear 2 is water-resistant, making it suitable for everyday use.

The Eyewear 2 seamlessly integrates with iOS, Android, and Windows devices via Bluetooth, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of platforms.

Several innovations are taking place in the technology and gadgets market. Major manufacturers always compete with each other and register trademarks and patents. Similarly, Meizu has applied for a Glasses patent that can measure Heart Rate and Blood Oxygen Level (SpO2).

The patent documents reveal that the wearable device includes components such as smart glasses boy, nose pads, and health measurement sensors. Interestingly, the sensors to measure heart rate and SpO2 are placed on the nose buds aka pads where the specs rest on the nose. The method improves the detection accuracy.

Meizu has not directly filed the patent, it is published with a new company which is founded in 2021. However, the chairman remains the same for both companies. The new company goes by the name Hubei Xingji Meizu Technology Co., Ltd., and it manufactures mobile phones, ICs, electronic products, and satellite mobile phones.

Apart from this innovative design, Meizu is also working on a foldable smartphone. A recent patent filing revealed that the design follows a folding design accompanied by a pop-up mechanism. It appears to solve the major difficulty of folding and unfolding the smartphone. The pop-up utility makes the overall process convenient for the users.

Samsung Distributes Wearable Glasses to Visually Impaired

Samsung has taken a significant step towards making the world a more inclusive place by launching the distribution of its wearable glasses to the visually impaired. The initiative is part of the company’s Relumino project, which aims to provide a visual aid solution to people with low vision.

The Relumino device consists of a Relumino application, a smartphone image processing software, and a glass-type wearable device. It enhances object recognition for people with low vision by applying tactile senses, allowing users to easily operate their smartphones without having to look at the screen and view videos through a glass display.

Samsung has distributed 30 wearable glasses for free to the visually impaired at the Community Agency of Blind in Gyeonggi Province to verify the usability of Relumino Glass. The company has also conducted clinical trials jointly with Samsung Medical Center to ensure the user stability of Relumino.

The company claims that Relumino boasts outstanding performance and usability compared to existing products, based on a separate experience test by other visually impaired users. The Relumino project was launched in 2016 as a seven-year research project as part of Samsung Electronics’ in-house venture fostering program C-Lab.

Cho Jeong-hoon, a researcher at Samsung Electronics who initiated the Relumino project, said, “We started the research after survey results showed that 92 percent of the visually impaired people enjoy watching TV as leisure activity when their viewing access, in fact, is limited.”

Samsung Electronics developed the Relumino app using a virtual reality (VR) device in 2017 and a glass-concept device in 2018 after reflecting the needs of actual users. The company is currently working on further advancements to the Relumino technology, such as radio wave certification, clinical trials, and software verification.

The distribution of wearable glasses to the visually impaired by Samsung Electronics is a significant milestone towards making the world a more inclusive place. It will provide a visual aid solution to people with low vision and enhance their quality of life. Nubia, a subsidiary of ZTE, has launched its new AR smart glass, the nubia Neovision Glass alongside its flagship smartphone nubia Z50 Ultra in China. The smart glass has been designed to cater to the growing demand for 5G+XR technology.

The nubia Neovision Glass is equipped with a lightweight and fashionable design, with a net weight of only 79g. It supports 0-500° myopic adjustment, making it convenient for users who don’t wear glasses. Moreover, it can be connected to a wide range of end devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, game consoles, and drones.

One of the standout features of the nubia Neovision Glass is its Hi-Res Audio Quality certification and TÜVRheinlan certification, which provides users with the highest possible visual and audio quality.

With the nubia Neovision Glass, users will be exposed to a large ultra-clear 120″ screen that can be projected in real-time from the phone screen.
