Exynos 1480 chipset likely powering Galaxy A55 surfaces in Geekbench database

Samsung has an array of devices in the pipeline set to launch next year. The expected releases include the Galaxy S24 series in the second or third week of January. This will likely be followed by the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55.

Both the A35 and A55 are expected to run on the new Exynos 1480 chipset. The chipset has now surfaced on the Geekbench database providing us insights into its performance.

In the Geekbench test, the Exynos 1480 achieved a score of 1180 points in the single-core CPU performance test and 3,536 points in the multi-core CPU performance test.

These scores, unsurprisingly, surpass those of the Exynos 1280 chip found in the Galaxy A54, which scored 1,108 points in the single-core test and 2,797 points in the multi-core test.

The Exynos 1480 utilizes the S5E8845 chipset, which was previously identified as the Exynos 1480. The SoC comes with an octa-core CPU architecture featuring four high-performance CPU cores clocked at 2.75GHz and four power-efficient CPU cores clocked at 2.05GHz.

The chipset also features the RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU, reported to be significantly more powerful than the Mali GPUs used in earlier Exynos chips. However, it remains unclear whether this mid-tier GPU supports ray tracing for games.

Moreover, leaked renders of the Galaxy A55 surfaced a few days ago, showcasing a boxy form factor and a design reminiscent of the Galaxy A35 and A15.

The bottom of the phone features a USB-C port and a speaker grille, while the top edge houses a SIM card tray. Notably, the renders do not reveal a 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the front, the smartphone boasts a center-aligned punch-hole cutout display measuring 6.5 inches, surrounded by thin bezels. Dimension-wise, the Galaxy A55 is expected to measure 161.1 x 77.3 / 77.9 x 8.2mm.

The phone was also spotted on 3C certification recently confirming 25W charging support for the device. Although we’re unsure about the exact launch date of the Galaxy A55 or the A35, as aforementioned, it is expected to follow the release of the S24 series.

Dimensity 9400 could beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in all aspects, says tipster

The upcoming next-generation System-on-Chips (SoCs) from Qualcomm and MediaTek are expected to be the world’s first 3nm SoCs. Although their official announcements are still far away, leaks have begun surfacing, providing a glimpse into what these chips might offer.

A well-known source, Digital Chat Station, suggests that MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 SoC could outperform Qualcomm in all aspects.

According to the tipster, the Dimensity 9400 will differ from its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300, as it won’t feature four Cortex-X5 performance cores.

It will still maintain a configuration with performance cores throughout, omitting the inclusion of efficiency cores. However, the company might be looking to decrease the X-core count on their next SoC.

The lack of an efficiency core may raise concerns about the processor’s efficiency, but the 3nm manufacturing process is expected to enhance thermal efficiency due to improved fabrication.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400(1)

Details regarding the GPU of the upcoming SoC are currently unavailable. As a result, the tipster might be focusing solely on comparing the CPU performance of the Dimensity 9400 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Moreover, Vivo is also expected to play a significant role in the development of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip. A previous report suggests that Vivo is actively involved in this chip’s development, building on their collaboration with MediaTek on the Dimensity 9300, particularly in the AI domain.

While much remains unknown about the Dimensity 9400 and its performance, it is certain that Qualcomm is also working hard on its first 3nm mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. We will be sure to keep an eye on it.

Nubia Z60 Ultra global launch scheduled for December 19

Although Nubia does not have a big presence in the International smartphone market, from time to time, it launches some of its devices for global customers. The upcoming Nubia Z60 Ultra smartphone will be one such device, featuring an immersive full-screen display since it utilizes an under-display camera.

Nubia Z60 Ultra launch details

Per the brand’s global website, the Nubia Z60 Ultra will launch globally on December 19 at 7:00 AM EST. Interestingly, this is the same date the brand plans to debut the device in its home country of China. However, the Chinese launch will be around 6 hours before the global debut.

Nubia Z60 Ultra

Besides the hidden camera under the display, what makes this upcoming device special is its design. Lately, top-tier smartphones have stuck to simple and safe designs. But the Z60 Ultra stands out with a unique camera setup that shows off each lens separately. Some might think it’s a bit flashy, but others on the internet seem to like this change. The brand has also teased the popular Starry Night Collector’s Edition design for the Z60 Ultra in China. Hopefully, they’ll bring this option to the global market too.

Nubia Z60 Ultra (expected specs)

The Nubia Z60 Ultra is set to come with a 6.8-inch OLED display boasting a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. What makes its screen intriguing is the absence of a punch-hole, ensuring a genuine full-screen experience through the integration of the company’s fifth-generation in-display selfie camera solution.

Nubia Z60 Ultra
Nubia Z60 Ultra

Powering the Z60 Ultra will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with a large 6,000mAh battery supporting 80W charging. Following its predecessor’s lead, the device may come with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The expected operating system is MyOS-based Android 14. A recent teaser has confirmed the device’s IP68 rating, signifying dustproof and water-resistant capabilities.

For optics, the device is expected to feature an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel main snapper, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera. The latter is anticipated to offer up to 3x optical zoom. On the front, the device could feature a 16MP sensor.

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review: Lightweight, Minimal, Highly Accurate

If you’ve been trying to set up a gaming PC setup, you must have realized that the prices of items can vary by a huge margin. However, one important point is that expensive doesn’t always mean the best quality.

The same principle can apply to something as cheap as a gaming mouse. You can find gaming mice selling for several hundreds of dollars and ones that are in the $10 – $20 range as well.

If you’re looking for a reliable, high-performance gaming mouse that doesn’t break your wallet, then you should check out the Darmoshark M3 4K mouse.

What’s in the Box?

In the retail box of Darmoshark M3 4K you are going to find these items below:

  • USB to Type-C Braided Cable
  • 4K Dongle
  • Additional Grips and Skates

Design

Let’s begin by discussing the Darmoshark M3’s design. The mouse has a compact and ergonomic design that’s well-suited for gaming. It also has a minimalistic design that complements any setup and is suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users.

The mouse has a very likeable in-hand feel which is quite important for a gaming-focussed mouse. Just like the main mouse buttons, the side buttons are also very clicky and tactile. Even the scroll wheel feels precise and responds great to input.

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review

Talking about the build quality, even though the Darmoshark M3 is built out of plastic, the material is of high quality and there’s no squeaking or flexing even when you press them hard during those intense gaming sessions!

On the top/front of the mouse, you get a USB Type-C port for charging/connectivity and the left side of the mouse features the configurable keys.

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review

At the bottom, you get a button to control your DPI setting, another button to set your return key, and a power slider button, which on one side switches on the Bluetooth mode and when slid to the other end turns ON the 4K dongle mode.

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review

The mouse is available in three color variants: Yellow, Black, and White.

Each color variant also comes with a different color combination for the scroll wheel, side buttons, and the bottom side of the mouse. The yellow variant of the mouse has a black-colored accent, the black mouse variant is combined with a neon-green accent, and the white mouse has an ocean-blue accent.

Features and Performance

One of the key highlights of the Darmoshark M3 4K, as the name suggests, is the 4K (4000Hz) polling rate. Using the 4K dongle that comes in the box and switching the mouse to pair using the 4K dongle, you can experience super-low latency. Thus, allowing you to enjoy an almost no-lag gaming experience regardless of whichever game you’re playing.

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review

Apart from connecting to your computer using the 4K dongle or 2.4GHz Bluetooth, you can also use the USB Type-C cable to directly connect the mouse and use it, in case you’re running low on battery or would prefer even lower latency.

The mouse comes with the PAW3395 sensor, which helps the mouse attain up to 26000 DPI resolution, a response speed that can max out at 1000Hz, 650 IPS tracking, and 50G acceleration. Overall, the mouse gives you a very gaming-focused experience that cannot be felt while using traditional computer mice.

Software & Battery Life

With the Darmoshark M3 4K mouse, you do get a companion software app for your PC to control the features of the mouse.

Using the companion Darmoshark software, you can control options such as Debounce Time, Lift Off Distance, Sleep Time, Polling Rate, Key Bindings, Motion Sync, etc.

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review

You can also see the remaining battery percentage of the mouse. Also, you can create different profiles for the mouse and switch between them, which is extremely useful if multiple people are using the same mouse or if you’d like to have the settings preset based on the game you’re playing.

However, the software’s UI was subpar, and given their aim to reach a global user base, I believe they should improve the overall software experience although it doesn’t affect the mouse’s performance in any way.

Talking about the battery life of the Darmoshark M3 4K gaming mouse, it depends on the polling rate your mouse is set at. When set at 1000Hz, the mouse offers about 7 days of battery life. When the polling rate is set to the maximum 4000Hz, the battery life reduces drastically to about 3 days.

Verdict

If you’re looking for a lightweight, compact, minimal-looking, yet highly functional gaming mouse without having to pay a fortune, then the Darmoshark M3 4K mouse is a steal deal!

Darmoshark M3 4K Mouse Review

With a price tag of $69.99, the mouse does provide all the essential and expected features of a gaming mouse in 2023 and beyond.

Our overall experience with the mouse has been absolutely enjoyable and we would recommend you to consider this gaming mouse if you’re on the hunt for one.

If we were to nitpick about the shortcomings of the Darmoshark M3 4K mouse, then it’d be really useful to have a Bluetooth adapter support for the mouse and have it bundled in the retail package, so that we could use it on gaming desktops without inbuilt Bluetooth support.

However, the 4K dongle is very functional and not at all laggy, thus giving a similar experience to having connectivity through a Bluetooth adapter.

Pricing and Availability

Darmoshark M3 is available in three colors and all the variants can be purchased from Mechkeys.

Oppo Find X7 design revealed in new render

We’ve been hearing a lot about the upcoming Oppo Find X7 series. Recently, the Pro model’s schematic also surfaced online, revealing a dual-periscope telephoto camera design. Now, a render of the standard Find X7 has appeared on Twitter/X.

In the render, we can see the Find X7 in a green hue, featuring a large circular camera island on the back. The camera lenses are arranged in a ‘T’ shape, accompanied by a Hasselblad logo.

According to earlier reports, the camera setup will be led by a 50MP Sony LYT-808 primary camera, complemented by a 50MP ultrawide sensor and a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto lens.

We can also see an LED light placed in the left corner above the camera module. This leaked render of the Find X7 reveals a design that closely follows the schematics of the Find X7 Pro, maintaining a cohesive look across the series. Moving to the front, the device has a curved screen with a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout.

Under the hood, the Find X7 is expected to pack a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor. It is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and includes one Cortex-X4 core at 3.25GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0GHz.

Likewise, the phone is said to have a 120Hz refresh rate, 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The charging may come in at 100W, and it’s expected to pack a 5000mAh battery.

Oppo is yet to announce a launch date for the Find X7 series. But considering the amount of leaks and rumors, we can expect the device to go official soon.

iPhone 17 Pro Max tipped for a 48MP telephoto lens

We know it’s still very early for iPhone 17 news, but that doesn’t stop the gossip mill from churning. The latest report now suggests a possible 48MP telephoto camera on the iPhone 17 Pro model.

This tidbit comes from analyst Jeff Pu, known for his insights into Apple‘s supply chai. He offered this intel in a research note focused on Largan Precision, a key Apple supplier.

iPhone 15 Pro Max Antutu Benchmark Score Revealed
iPhone 15 Pro.

He claims the upgrade could be linked to Apple’s Vision Pro headset, hinting at optimized performance for VR experiences. However, Pu remained tight-lipped about the lens’s finer details and its connection with the Vision Pro.

For comparison, the current iPhone 15 Pro models pack a 48MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto lens. Since the iOS 17.2 update, these devices have gained the ability to record spatial video with 3D depth for playback on the Vision Pro. When held sideways, the main and ultra-wide lenses work together to capture even more depth in your spatial videos.

The latest rumor builds on the previous report about a 48MP ultra-wide lens in the iPhone 16 Pro models. If this pans out, the iPhone 17 Pro Max would be the first iPhone to boast a rear camera system entirely composed of 48MP lenses.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro
iPhone 15 Pro.

And of course, the higher the megapixel count, the better. It would allow to capture more detail-packed photos which will be ideal for cropping, zooming, and even printing large-format images.

However, with the iPhone 17 Pro’s launch still nearly two years away (September 2025), Apple’s plans could change during the development process. Until then, we can only keep our cameras focused on future leaks.

In other news, early renders of the iPhone 16 have surfaced online, hinting at some notable design changes. These renders, which are based on pre-production devices of the iPhone 16, indicate that the phone might retain the vertically stacked camera layout as seen in the iPhone 12. Stadia Controller Users can switch to Bluetooth Mode by the end of 2024, says Google

It was announced earlier this week that the deadline to synchronize your Stadia controller with Bluetooth was approaching. Those who have yet to do so can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Google has extended the deadline.

Google gave its Stadia controllers fresh life by adding a Bluetooth mode before announcing the closure of Stadia. As a result, the gadget would work with PCs, phones, and other gaming platforms.

However, to activate Bluetooth mode, you needed to connect your controller to a computer and utilize the online application provided by Google.

At first, Google decided that owners would no longer be able to convert the device to Bluetooth mode after December 31, 2023. According to the Stadia website, the tech giant looks to be granting even more wiggle room by pushing out the deadline to December 31, 2024.

The application gives step-by-step directions, and switching to Bluetooth is a reasonably straightforward process. The controller will begin utilizing Bluetooth low-energy connections when the procedure is complete.

The gamepad will no longer have capabilities like wireless passthrough audio that are only available with Wi-Fi connectivity. This modification is permanent. However, being unable to use the controller at all is preferable to losing those functions.

You can verify whether your controller has the most recent Bluetooth patch by visiting the Stadia website and connecting the controller to a PC.

Lenovo unveils ThinkVision 27 3D Monitor with ability to convert 2D images to 3D in real time without glasses

Earlier this year, Lenovo showcased the ThinkVision 27 3D monitor at IFA 2023. It requires a minimum system specification to utilize stated functionalities—an Intel Core i5-7400, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, 50 GB of hard drive space, and 8 GB of RAM.

However, it is limited to Windows-based PCs, requiring Windows 10 or the latest version.

According to Lenovo, “The user’s eyes are presented with two separate pictures by the 3D monitor, allowing each eye to view the subject from a slightly different angle. This method produces natural and effective stereoscopic visualization with sharp stereo vision and depth awareness.” In this way, “more natural 3D viewing experiences” are achieved without the need for specialized equipment.

Lenovo ThinkVision 27 3D Monitor specifications

The ThinkVision 27 3D monitor has a 27-inch IPS LCD screen with a peak brightness of 310 nits, a color gamut coverage of 11% BT 709, 99% DCI-P3, 99% Adobe RGB, and 110% sRGB.

Additional specifications for the ThinkVision 27 3D display include 2,160 x 3,840 pixels for 2D resolution and 1,920 x 2,160 pixels for 3D resolution. With the use of an eye-tracking switchable lenticular lens, this glassless 3D display generates a 3D image.

Lenovo states that its ∆E values are less than one right out of the box, and it comes color-calibrated straight from the factory.

In addition, the monitor includes a stylish USB hub with the ThinkVision 27 3D monitor. There are four USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port that can charge devices at up to 100 Watts, one upstream USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port, and one downstream USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port. Moreover, there are two HDMI and one DP port in addition to that.

It is a specialty product designed for a certain user base that requires these qualities. As so, it will retail for a price tag of $2,999 and be available for purchase in February 2024.
