Reliance could spend billions to acquire Disney+Hotstar in India

Reliance is apparently planning on shelling out billions of dollars to acquire Disney+Hotstar in India. Recent rumors have hinted at Disney exiting the Indian market. For this, the company is also looking to sell its local assets and Reliance might be the buyer.

Reliance May Buy Out Disney+Hotstar

According to the previous report, Disney was in talks with Sun TV, Adani Group, and Reliance Industries for the potential acquisition. Now, the latest rumor hints that the deal could close soon with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Group. The transaction would involve Reliance acquiring a major control stake in the business, although both parties are expected to be in the negotiation stage to decide the exact valuation for the deal.

Disney+Hotstar

While initial rumors claimed that Disney is looking to completely exit the Indian market, a Bloomberg report believes that the company only wants to sell a controlling stake rather than completely letting go of its Indian unit. The news from Bloomberg adds that Disney is near a multi-billion dollar deal with Reliance Industries. If this deal goes through, then a vast part of the Disney+Hotstar OTT platform, including its TV channels like Star Sports and Star Gold, could fall under Reliance.

Disney is reportedly asking for 10 billion US Dollars for Hotstar and Star India. However, Reliance isn’t agreeing with this evaluation, instead valuing it for around 7 to 8 billion US Dollars. Interestingly enough, the company acquiring Disney+Hotstar implies that the Ambani led group could gain control over the TV streaming rights of cricket in the Indian market. This is a big deal considering the immense popularity of the sport in the region.

Vivo Y100 5G key specs revealed; Chinese variant to differ from India

Vivo is all set to unveil the mid-range smartphone on Oct. 27 in China. Today, the brand released a few posters to reveal its design, color options, display size, and battery capacity. These confirmations reveal that the Chinese variant of the Y100 will be different from its Indian edition, which went official in February of this year.

Vivo Y100 5G key specifications

To recall, the Indian version of the Vivo Y100 5G has a flat AMOLED display with a small notch, a triple camera setup on the back, and a 4,500mAh battery. It measures 7.7mm in thickness and weighs 181 grams.

In contrast, the Vivo Y100 5G seems to be a more well-placed smartphone with a larger 6.78-inch OLED display that supports Full HD+ resolution. The company has confirmed that the screen is protected with Schott’s display protection layer for durability against scratches and wear.

It houses a bigger 5,000mAh battery and sports a thin profile of only 7.49mm. The other details of the phone are yet to be revealed, but it appears that it could be the Vivo V2313A phone that was approved by Chinese certification sites like TENAA and 3C recently. Xiaomi 14 gets new design and floating telephoto camera: Official

The Xiaomi 14 series is set to go official on October 26 (Thursday). The company announced the launch date only yesterday and has been teasing the products since then.

Today, the firm has revealed the design of the vanilla model. It has shared the renders of the device in white color.

At the same time, the firm’s CEO has disclosed a few tidbits about the design. He even revealed a camera feature.

Xiaomi 14: Flat frame design and telephoto camera from Xiaomi 13 Pro

As per the renders posted by Xiaomi on Weibo, the Xiaomi 14 retains the flat frame design. But the frame seems to have contoured edges, just like on the latest iPhone 15 models. Thus, the phone could be more comfortable to hold in hands.

The front of the handset is equipped with a 6.36-inch centered punch-hole display with thin bezels all around. Whereas, on the rear, there’s a new double-step square island for three cameras and an LED flashlight.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun says that the top of the device is hole-free (like the iPhones). The engineering team managed to accomplish this by hiding the infrared sensor in the camera island, changing the speaker opening to a micro-slit design, and hiding the secondary microphone inside the earpiece area.

Further, according to the executive, the Xiaomi 14 sports a 75mm floating telephoto camera from Xiaomi 13 Pro. This camera provides a 3.2x optical zoom perspective (ideal for portraits) and 10cm close focus support for macro.

Going by the leaks, the Xiaomi 14 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, 12-bit 1.5K 120Hz OLED display, dual stereo speakers, IP68 rating, a 4,600mAh battery, 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

AMD and NVIDIA reportedly designing Arm-based Windows chips

AMD and NVIDIA are reportedly designing Arm-based processors for Windows PCs, according to Reuters. This could significantly boost the current low sales of Arm-based Windows PCs while cutting Qualcomm’s market share.

AMD and NVIDIA Arm-based Windows PCs

Qualcomm has been the sole provider of Arm-based Windows PC processors for several years now, but its agreement with Microsoft is set to expire in 2024. AMD and NVIDIA’s chips could be available as soon as 2025, giving Microsoft more options for its devices.

Microsoft is reportedly encouraging AMD and NVIDIA to include “advanced AI features” in their chips, which suggests that they could be well-suited for creative professionals and other users who rely on AI-powered applications.

Microsoft also recently introduced Windows Copilot, its AI-enhanced software, which it envisions to become an important part of using Windows. Thus, the company is emphasizing AI features in the silicon. We can also expect to see some gaming-focused features, such as powerful graphics hardware and image-upscaling technology.

Arm-based PC processors typically offer much better battery life than x64-based chips from Intel and AMD. This allows for laptops with longer endurance or thinner, lighter designs.

For instance, Qualcomm’s PC chips have been praised for their long battery life and connectivity options, but they have also been criticized for their lack of performance. The reported entry of AMD and NVIDIA into the market could put pressure on Qualcomm to improve its performance.

It is unclear exactly when AMD and NVIDIA’s Arm-based Windows chips will be released, but Reuters reports that it could happen as early as 2025.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 leak reveals full key specs and features

The upcoming DJI Pocket 3 camera is shaping up to be a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Pocket 2. Leaker Igor Bogdanov has now shared the full specifications for the Osmo Pocket 3,  revealing everything we need to know about the upcoming camera. So let’s talk about it here.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Full Specifications Leaked

The biggest change in the Pocket 3 is the new 1-inch sensor. This is significantly larger than the 1/1.7-inch sensor in the Pocket 2, and it should result in better image quality, especially in low light and when shooting slow-motion video.

The Pocket 3 will also be able to shoot 4K video at up to 120 frames per second. This is a significant improvement over the Pocket 2, which can only shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second. This makes the Pocket 3 ideal for capturing fast-paced action.

The leaked spec sheet also reveals the display details of the gimbal. According to it, the Pocket 3 will feature a larger rotating display than its predecessor, but it is still relatively small at 2 inches. The rotating design should make it easier to use the camera for selfies and other creative shots. Also, the display has a resolution of 556 x 314 pixels and a peak brightness of 700 nits.

Additionally, the gimbal will likely weigh slightly more than the Pocket 2, probably because the sensor is bigger. But it will still be one of the lightest and most portable 1-inch compact cameras on the market.

Along with the specifications, the tipster has also published a series of short unboxing videos, showing a retail version of the Osmo Pocket 3. DJI is expected to unveil its Pocket 2 follow-up on October 25, and the Osmo Pocket 3 is rumored to start at US$531 or US$676 for a Creator Combo.

Another poster released by the brand focuses on the Xiaomi 14 series’ camera module. The company has already confirmed that it will feature premium Vario-Summilux lenses found on Leica’s high-end cameras. The primary camera of the Xiaomi 14 series will have a 23mm main lens with a variable aperture of f/1.6 and f/2.2, an ultra-wide lens with a 14mm focal length, and a telephoto camera with a 75mm focal length and a 3.2x optical zoom.

Reports have revealed that the Xiaomi 14 will be available in shades such as black, white, green, and pink, whereas the Xiaomi 14 will come in options such as black, white, and green. Both phones will come equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and come in three variants, such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, and 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage.

Apart from the Xiaomi 14 series, the company will also unveil two other products, such as the Xiaomi Watch S3 and the Xiaomi TV 85-inch mini LED TV, on Oct. 26.
