Samsung has recently confirmed that it will be addressing the camera blur issue experienced by some users of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. Since the phones were launched earlier this year, users have reported a problem with blurring in certain areas of the images taken with the primary camera, often referred to as the “banana blur” issue.

According to Samsung, the cause of the problem is the wider aperture of the primary camera. In the meantime, Samsung has provided some suggestions to minimize the occurrence of the problem. Additionally, holding the phone vertically, rather than horizontally or obliquely, is recommended.
It is worth noting that it took Samsung some time to acknowledge the issue, and it remains uncertain whether it can be completely resolved due to the nature of the problem. However, some users have suggested that the inclusion of a dual-aperture lens, as seen in previous models like the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10, could have potentially provided a solution. 81 percent iPhones and 76 percent iPads running iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 respectively
Apple usually pushes software updates for up to five years after the devices are released. The company has revealed that iOS 16 which was released in September last year is running on 81 percent of iPhones globally. This figure grows to 90 percent only if we consider iPhones launched in the last four years i.e. from the iPhone 11 series to iPhone 14 series.
Out of the remaining 19 percent, 13 percent of iPhone users haven’t updated from iOS 15 and 6 percent are on iOS 14 and older. For those unaware, iOS 16 is still compatible with the iPhone 8 and newer models launched in or after 2017.
On the tablet side, Apple reveals that 71 percent of all iPads run on iPadOS 16 with the number going up to 76 percent if only the tablets introduced in the last four years are considered. However, 18 percent of these devices are still stuck with iPadOS 15 and 6 percent with earlier versions. The report adds that 20 percent of all iPads are running on iOS 15, and 9 percent are users with iPadOS 14 and older.
With iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 set to be announced in the coming days and roll out expected later this year, it will be interesting to see their adaptation compared to the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.
Chinese smartphone brand Honor, formerly a sub-brand of Huawei, has launched a new subsidiary dedicated to chip design. This move comes shortly after rival company Oppo shut down its in-house chip unit and laid off numerous employees. The subsidiary, called Shanghai Honor Intelligent Technology Development Co, was established in Shanghai’s Lingang Free Trade Zone with a registered capital of 100 million yuan ($14 million). It operates under the ownership of Honor Terminal Co.

The primary focus of the new unit includes chip design, sales, related services, and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) application software. Honor has stated that the subsidiary will be one of its five research centers in China, with a particular emphasis on core software, graphics algorithms, communications, and photography. Ather has announced the Ather 450S electric bike with a reduced range of 115km in India. The certified range of the e-bike however goes down from 146km to 115km. There are no details yet on the battery capacity of the Ather 450S but it is expected to be less expensive than that of the Ather 450X. The design of the Ather 450S bears a close semblance to the Ather 450X, although the new model offers an alternative to 125cc gasoline motorbikes.

Earlier this week, Honor unveiled the Honor 90 and 90 Pro smartphones in China, featuring powerful specifications and a display that is easy on the eyes. While these two phones have yet to launch outside of China, it appears that the company is also working on a new mid-range model in the X series. Recently, the Honor X50 was spotted on TENAA with its complete specifications, and now it has received China’s National Quality Certification, hinting the device is a step closer to the launch.
Honor X50 could be a balanced mid-ranger
The Honor X50 mobile phone, with the model number ALI-AN00, has successfully passed the national quality certification. The listing indicates that the smartphone supports up to 35W fast charging and offers 5G connectivity. The switching power supply specification output of the device supports 5VDC, 2A or 9VDC, 2A or 11DC, and 3.2A MAX.
According to its TENAA listing, the smartphone has dimensions of 163.75.5 x 7.98mm and weighs 185 grams. It packs a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K+ resolution of 2652 x 1200 pixels and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The Honor X50 could be available in storage editions of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, with no option to expand. It is powered by a 5,700mAh (rated value) battery, suggesting that its typical capacity could be 5,800mAh.
Honor X50 is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, which is a mid-range SoC recently launched by Qualcomm. We previously saw this processor on the Moto G Stylus (2023) earlier this week. The processor utilizes a Cortex-A78 CPU as its main CPU core and is built on the Samsung 4nm process. It features a configuration of 4x CA78 at 2.2GHz + 4x CA55 at 1.8GHz. Compared to the previous generation, this configuration offers a 40% improvement in performance.
OnePlus Pad Stands Up to Scratches, Bends, and Heat in New Durability Test
JerryRigEverything started their durability test with the OnePlus Stylo. This stylus is fairly standard, but it does have some standard features, such as copper coils for wireless charging and a real battery. The durability test proceeded with OnePlus Pad as usual, with a scratch test. The tablet “scratched at level 6 and left deeper grooves at level 7”. This is a fairly standard result, and it is one of the limits of the technology we have today. If your device’s screen is not protected with sapphire instead of glass, this is the maximum durability you can achieve.
The tablet passed the burn test, but it really shined in the bending test. As you know, size is not always an advantage when it comes to structural integrity, especially for smartphones and tablets. In previous tests, we’ve seen that the screen can be a weak point, and the frames can break under pressure. This was especially true for the iPad models we tested. However, OnePlus Pad is different. The Sunset Gold edition stands out with its exquisite leather back, adding a touch of marvel to its overall appearance. The Note 30 5G has a 108-megapixel triple camera unit on the back. It has other features, such as XOS 13-based Android 13, a side-facing fingerprint sensor, and JBL-powered dual stereo speakers. The price of the device will be confirmed on June 14.

It comes powered by the Snapdragon 695 processor, paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Fueled by a 4,800mAh battery unit, the handset supports 33W fast charging. It runs Android 12 OS out of the box and is promised to get three years of OS and four years of security updates
Further, the device gets extra-loud stereo speakers, a 3.5mm jack, a USB-C port, NavIC, 5G, WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.1. Nokia XR21 will be available on the Nokia US website in Midnight Black, costing $500. As part of the launch offer, Nokia is giving in a free pair of noise-canceling earbuds.
