New evidence suggests a noteworthy trend in the TV panel market: Chinese brands are making substantial gains in the LCD TV panel market. According to a recent report released by prominent market research firm Omdia, Chinese electronics companies have achieved significant growth in Q1 2023.

TCL and Hisense, two Chinese brands, have taken the lead in LCD TV panel purchases, with TCL buying 12.4 million panels and Hisense closely following with 11.2 million. This change in the market landscape has unsettled the long-standing champion of this sector, Samsung, which came third, purchasing 15.6 million panels.

Several factors have contributed to the increased demand for LCD TV panels in Q1 2023. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, for one, has heightened the need for home entertainment solutions. Additionally, the persistent chip shortage is forcing TV manufacturers to pivot towards LCD panels as OLED production faces significant challenges.

Kabira Mobility KM5000 e-bike unveiled as India’s fastest electric bike

Goa-based e-mobility startup Kabira Mobility has announced the KM5000, India’s fastest and longest-range electric motorcycle. The KM5000 comes with lots of exciting features including a top speed of 188km/h and a range of 344km.

The Kabira KM5000 comes with a cruiser design with a single-sided swingarm. The e-bike’s mid-drive powertrain was co-developed by Kabira and DeltaEV while its 11.6kWh water-cooled LFP battery pack accounts for the 344km range. There are two charging options for the KM5000 namely high-speed charging and standard charging. The high-speed charger can charge the e-bike from 0 to 80% in two hours while the standard charger charges the bike fully overnight.

The powerful KM5000 e-bike has Showa and Nitrox suspension units at the front and rear respectively. The KM5000 is a speedster and thus requires a solid control system. This is provided by twin disc brakes at the front and a rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS. A 7-inch digital touchscreen provides ride and battery information and it supports 4G connectivity. The digital dashboard can also provide turn-by-turn navigation, music control battery health, and smart diagnostics.

The Kabira KM5000 has a single-seat setup and three color options are on offer namely Deep Khaki, Aquamarine, and Midnight Grey. The bike also features tire pressure monitoring, park assist, fall sensors, LED projector headlamps, LED taillights, and an elevation stabilizer.

The Kabira KM5000 super-fast and long-range electric motorcycle is priced at Rs. 315,000 (~$3,802) (ex-showroom, Goa). The KM5000 will officially launch later this year and deliveries will start in 2024. Kabira Mobility is silent on its global marketing plans for the KM5000 at this time.

Strengthening Data Security: WhatsApp’s New Password Reminder Feature

While this added an extra layer of security, there was a possibility of users forgetting their encrypted backup passwords, particularly if they didn’t change their phones frequently. To mitigate this issue, WhatsApp has now rolled out a password reminder feature. According to reports from WABetaInfo, users are being prompted to enter their 64-digit key or password for the end-to-end encrypted backup after updating to the latest version of the app. Access to the app is restricted until the correct password is entered or encrypted backups are turned off.

This reminder serves as a precautionary measure to prevent users from permanently losing access to their WhatsApp chat history. If the encrypted password is forgotten, there is no option to recover it. Therefore, it is crucial to remember the encrypted backup password to avoid losing valuable chat data.

In case users have already forgotten their WhatsApp backup’s encrypted password and encounter the reminder, they can choose to disable encrypted backups. However, this will result in the loss of access to previous encrypted WhatsApp chat history. If necessary, users can re-enable the security feature with a new password or 64-digit key.

WhatsApp also implements a similar reminder for the six-digit code used for two-factor authentication, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding user accounts. To avoid the risk of forgetting the new password, it is recommended to save the details in a reliable password manager app for Android, thereby ensuring easy access to the password whenever required.

In addition to this security enhancement, WhatsApp has recently introduced other features to empower its users, such as message editing and chat lock for securing conversations. It has also expanded its functionality by introducing multi-device support, enabling users to use the same account on up to four phones.

Nvidia GPU shortages could last till December

The company will likely struggle to meet demand as it tried to have TSMC to increase production. For those unaware, Nvidia’s graphics card’s chips are manufactured by TSMC. The boom in the GPU business for the brand also arrives amid the surge in AI applications. For those unaware, the American tech giant had bet on the advancements on AI technologies that ChatGPT and other AI based models are now based on. Notably, this is also in line with our previous report that mentioned AI chips from the company selling for a whopping 40,000 US Dollars on eBay.

This demand is particularly high for its brand new A100 and H100 GPUs that tech firms are seeking to buy. As of right now, reports have also claimed that the massive demand for AI chips has caused stock issues for Nvidia, who is struggling to meet these high demands. Furthermore, Team Green is also looking to bump up its orders to the world’s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC, since its A100 GPU is based on its 7nm process while the H100 is based on the more advanced 4nm TSMC process node.

The high demand has also led to a spike in prices as well. The company is selling modified versions of its A100 and H100 GPUs that are dubbed A800 and H800 (to circumvent US sanctions) at a price that is 40 percent higher than its MSRP. Even the delivery cycle for the new cards have been impacted as Nvidia seeks to ship GPUs to tech firms outside of China first.

Yesterday, Xiaomi revealed the rear design of the Xiaomi Civi 3, a female-focused smartphone for China. Today, the company released multiple teasers to reveal several new details about the Civi 3.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Civi 3 will feature an OLED panel with curved edges and a pill-shaped cutout. While the company is yet to confirm the display size, it appears that it may have inherited the 6.55-inch OLED FHD+ 120Hz panel, which was made available on the Xiaomi Civi 2 last year.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Civi 3 will have a 32-megapixel main selfie camera with a 78-degree FOV. It will be paired with a 32-megapixel superwide camera with a 100-degree FOV. The top edge of the device will have soft dual-LED flash units with 5 kinds of light effects, from warm to cold, for snapping brighter selfies in low-light conditions.

The company also revealed that a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 camera with OIS support will be the focal point of the Civi 3’s rear camera setup. It has yet to reveal the details of the remaining rear cameras on the device.

The Dimensity 8200-Ultra chipset will be present under the hood of the Xiaomi Civi 3. Other reports have revealed that the device will be equipped with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging.

One of the major attractions of the Civi 3 is its dual-tone design. The device will be available in four colors, such as Rose Purple, Mint Green, Coconut Grey, and Adventure Gold. In the Chinese market, the Civi 3 will rival other upcoming Dimensity 8200 phones, such as the OPPO Reno 10 Pro and the Vivo S17 Pro.

Dyson has just unveiled a couple of new products for your homes. The new gadgets include the new 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner and the new V15S Detect Submarine Vacuum Cleaner that offer improved floorcare to users. So here are all the details.

Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robot Vacuum Cleaner

As the name suggests, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner arrives to clean your entire house, while the V15S Detect Submarine is for hard floor cleaning. Talking about the robot first, this marks the first robot vacuum cleaner since its last model in 2020. The company has made various improvements in its navigation tech and even power be more competitive in the current market.

The brand claims that the new robot vacuum cleaner has six times the suction of other robots thanks to its Hyperdium motor that spins at up to 110,000rpm. It is equipped with a fisheye lens that has a 360 degree vision system and houses an edge to edge brush to clean floors of different types. The 360 Vis Nav uses a piezo sensor to detect dust levels, automatically adjusting suction power. This model will go on sale later this year.

Dyson V15S Detect Submarine Vacuum Cleaner

The V15S is a hard floor cleaner that is built with the brand’s Gen5Detect. This new vacuum cleaner has a Submarine wet roller head that can deliver water automatically to remove tough stains. It houses an eight jet system that can release 18ml of water every minute to help remove stains. The new V15S Detect Submarine is quite powerful and is portable thanks to its cordless stick design. Notably, the V15S arrives after the launch of the V15 Detect Extra cordless vacuum cleaner. Similar to the robot vacuum cleaner, this model will also launch later this year.

In December 2022, Redmi introduced the K60 series of smartphones exclusively in China. During the initial release, the entry-level model, known as the Redmi K60, was offered with a maximum configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. However, the brand has now unveiled a new variant of the device, featuring an impressive 1TB storage capacity.

The 16GB + 1TB model is initially priced at 3599 Yuan ($510) in China, but there will be a temporary reduction to 3099 Yuan ($439) during the pre-order period starting at 8 PM tonight in China.

In markets outside of China, the Redmi K60 is marketed as the Poco F5 Pro. It is available in configurations with a maximum of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Currently, it is unclear whether the company intends to release a 1TB variant of this device in the global market. Redmi K60 specs

The device runs on MIUI 14, based on the latest Android 13 operating system, delivering a user-friendly interface and a range of features.
