Elon Musk offers free blue ticks to Stephen King and LeBron James on Twitter

In the latest development on Twitter’s verification policies, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has come to the rescue of some of his favorite personalities, including renowned American author Stephen King and basketball legend LeBron James. Musk has personally paid for their blue ticks on the social media platform, which has recently removed blue verification badges from many prominent personalities, including Bill Gates and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

Elon Musk pays for celebrities’ Twitter verification amidst backlash

elon-musk

Twitter’s new policy states that users need to subscribe to their paid service, Twitter Blue, to get a blue verification badge. However, it appears that some celebrities are exempted from this policy. Stephen King recently tweeted that he did not subscribe to Twitter Blue, yet has a blue tick on his account. Musk responded to his tweet, saying “You are welcome namaste.”

LeBron James, who had previously stated that he would not pay for verification, has also been offered a complimentary subscription to Twitter Blue. His media advisor confirmed that he has not paid for verification. Despite this, his Twitter profile still has a blue badge, indicating that he is verified.

This development has raised questions about Twitter’s verification policies and whether celebrities are receiving preferential treatment. Some users have criticized the company for creating a two-tier system where regular users have to pay for verification, while celebrities receive it for free.

The situation highlights the importance of transparency in social media platforms’ policies and enforcement. Twitter needs to address these concerns and clarify its policies regarding verification for all users.

ChatGPT to face competition from China in AI development, says Microsoft President

Microsoft President Brad Smith has warned that Chinese research organizations and companies could become major rivals of ChatGPT in the development of generative AI. In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Smith said that China would not be left behind in the race to innovate and become a major player in the field of generative AI.

Microsoft President sees China as a key rival in the generative AI race

Smith identified three organizations at the forefront of this technology: OpenAI with Microsoft, Google, and the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence. He said that the competition to innovate in the development of generative AI is “enormously competitive,” and that the gap between the leading organizations is almost always measured in months, not years.

Generative AI, which is the technology behind ChatGPT, has the ability to produce text and images at near-human levels of sophistication. However, there are concerns that the technology could displace workers by automating many jobs and could be used to spread misinformation, infringe on copyrights, compromise privacy, and leak sensitive information.

Smith believes that the solution to such concerns is not to stop innovation but rather to use and improve existing products. He says that like other technologies, AI can be a tool as well as a weapon and cites cyber attacks as an example.

Smith also highlighted how the technology could address labor shortages – one of the biggest challenges facing Asia. He said that the working-age population has to support more people who have retired and are dependent on the economic growth of people who are working. Therefore, there is a need to find new sources of productivity growth.

Smith believes that if the best minds of people can be combined with the best technology, this is an area where we should be able to outperform the adversaries of the world’s democracies. He also said that Microsoft is already using AI to identify new cyber attacks in real-time and intercept them. They are also using AI to detect cyber-influence operations of foreign governments and disinformation campaigns.

Realme 11 Pro+ live images surface online with Gold & White color option

The forthcoming Realme 11 series phones are generating significant excitement, with rumors suggesting significant camera upgrades and the inclusion of new Dimensity 7 series processors. Now, live images of the Realme 11 Pro+ have surfaced online.

Realme 11 Pro Plus Featured

Realme 11 Pro+ live images

Fresh leaks have surfaced showcasing the design of Realme’s premium model, the 11 Pro+. The source of these leaks is reportedly the Chinese micro-blogging platform, Weibo. According to the images, the device will be released in a white and gold color scheme. The camera module on the back of the phone has also been redesigned and bears a striking resemblance to that of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. Additionally, the images depict a phone with curved edges, as opposed to the current trend of flat edges in mid-range models.

We recently reported that the smartphone will also feature a dedicated mode for Moon photography. Let’s look at what else is known about the Realme 11 Pro+.

Realme 11 Pro+ specs

According to earlier reports, the upcoming Realme 11 Pro+ is expected to feature a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, a high 120Hz refresh rate, and a 2160Hz PWM high-frequency dimming. The phone may be equipped with a Dimensity 7-series processor, which could come paired with a maximum of 16GB of RAM and up to a whopping 1TB of internal storage.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly get the same 10MP selfie camera

Samsung is set to launch two new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, in the coming months, alongside new tablets, smartwatches, and possibly earbuds. While details of these upcoming devices have been surfacing online, a new report has revealed information about the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s selfie camera.

According to GalaxyClub, Samsung will stick with a 10-megapixel selfie camera for the Galaxy Z Flip 5. However, it remains unclear whether the camera’s other specs, such as aperture and autofocus technology, will see any changes on the Z Flip 5.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

Despite the lack of a selfie camera upgrade, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s larger cover display should make up for it. With a larger display, capturing higher-quality selfies with the rear camera will be more convenient than on previous Galaxy Z Flip smartphones.

Moreover, the larger cover display could make a dedicated selfie camera somewhat redundant. Samsung could consider ditching it altogether for a proper full-screen inner display on its flip-style foldables, especially considering the larger cover display and the Flex Mode capabilities of Samsung’s foldables.

In terms of buying decisions, the lack of an upgrade to the selfie camera on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 should not be a cause for concern. While an upgrade would be nice, it’s not crucial to the device’s overall functionality. With the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s impressive larger cover display, users can still take high-quality selfies using the main camera.

The official release date of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 has not yet been officially confirmed. However, a recent leak suggests that Samsung may be planning to launch these devices earlier than expected. If the leak is to be believed, we could see the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 by the end of July.

The feature is designed to add an extra layer of privacy to your conversations and to help keep your chat history clutter-free. WhatsApp’s new feature, “Keep in Chat,” allows users to save disappearing messages by long-pressing on a message. However, the sender will be notified and can decide whether to keep the message in the chat. If not, the message will disappear when the timer runs out. Saved messages are marked with a bookmark icon and can be found in a “Kept Messages” folder. WhatsApp is gradually rolling out this feature, which will be available to all users soon.

WhatsApp

Although it may seem like Keep in Chat contradicts disappearing messages, WhatsApp explained in a blog post that this feature is useful for retaining important information like addresses or voice notes. The sender of the message has the final say on whether to keep a message, giving them control over their privacy.

Google Bard can Now Help with Coding, Steps Up to ChatGPT

Language models can help with coding by providing assistance in writing code, generating code snippets, and even debugging code. They can also provide explanations for why certain blocks of code produce a particular output, which can be incredibly helpful for those who are just starting to learn programming. Additionally, language models can analyze existing code and suggest ways to optimize it for efficiency and speed. With their ability to process vast amounts of data and generate highly accurate predictions, language models are becoming an increasingly powerful tool for programmers and developers. As per recent reports, Google has integrated coding capabilities into its AI chatbot, Bard.

Bard will support Java, Python, Javascript, C++ and more

The tech giant has equipped Bard with the ability to generate, debug, and explain code in 20 programming languages, including Java, Python, JavaScript, and C++. Moreover, Bard can integrate with Google’s other products, such as Colab and Sheets. Aside from generating code, Bard can provide explanations for code snippets and assist with debugging. While it can optimize existing code, Google advises testing Bard’s output since it may be incomplete or produce unexpected results.

Google Bard

Bard’s programming capabilities could be a valuable resource, especially for beginners, as it explains how and why certain code produces a particular output. Google opened up access to its AI chatbot earlier this year, but it still has a long way to go before reaching ChatGPT‘s level of popularity. Google continues to improve Bard in various ways, using its new language model, PaLM, to power recent upgrades. The company has also created an “experiment updates” page to track the chatbot’s changes as it adds new features and performs bug fixes. Bard’s recent programming capabilities show how Google is continually developing AI to make life easier for its users, and its integration with other Google products makes it an attractive resource for those seeking programming assistance.
