Apple AirPods May Come with Hearing Based Health Features by 2025

Apple is apparently planning on bringing a notable new health feature on its popular AirPods series of truly wireless earbuds. The company’s future AirPods might arrive with a hearing based health feature. So here are all the details.

The news arrives from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who shared that these new features aren’t too far off. So we can expect the new health sensors to make their way on the wireless earphones by the next year or two. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that the Cupertino based giant is looking to soon upgrade the AirPods to also offer “health tool” functionalities as well within the next couple of years.

Apple

Furthermore, this would include the AirPods offering the users “the ability to get hearing data of some sort.” For those unaware, Apple has already been attempting at adding more hearing related functionalities to its users with Live Listen and Conversation Boost. Previously, we had even covered a report that suggested that the AirPods could function as a good cheap alternative for hearing aids. Although, Gurman added that these feature have yet to be approved by the FDA.

In other words, it is still far away from being a proper replacement to hearing aids. But its clear that the iPhone maker is working on adding various health related features on the AirPods. This includes aspects like biometric sensors, motion sensors, temperature monitors, heart rate trackers, perspiration, and more. Apple is likely making noticeable upgrades to the AirPods next year so we can expect these additional features to make its way by the second half of 2024 or first half of 2025.

General Motors has recently announced that they are developing an in-car digital assistant powered by the same machine-learning models used in ChatGPT. GM Vice President Scott Miller stated that “ChatGPT is going to be in everything” and the automaker envisions the digital assistant supporting drivers in various situations. For example, it could help drivers replace their car’s tire in case of a flat or schedule integration with other devices like garage door openers.

The new assistant will be built differently from other chatbots such as Bing Chat, as GM is working on a “car-specific layer” on top of the ChatGPT language models. This is part of GM’s collaboration with Microsoft, which is OpenAI’s sole cloud provider. Although no name or release date has been provided yet, the GM spokesperson states that this shift towards emerging technologies will lead to future vehicles being far more capable overall.

Cerebral, a Mental Health Startup Exposed Personal Patient Data to Meta, Google & TikTok

Cerebral, a telehealth startup that became increasingly popular during the early stages of the pandemic when mental health was fragile globally, has recently revealed that it inadvertently shared the personal information of over 3.1 million patients in the United States with social media giants, Google, Meta, and TikTok. It was revealed that the company had been using tracking scripts, known as “pixels,” which were offered by Meta to third-party developers for advertising since it got off the ground in the month of October 2019.

Cerebral

After reviewing its software, Cerebral discovered that it had disclosed certain information that may be regulated as protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This information includes patients’ names, phone numbers, birth dates, and insurance information. The company may have also exposed information collected through mental health self-assessments completed by patients to schedule counselling appointments. However, it is noteworthy that no social security numbers, bank information, or credit card numbers were shared by the company in the process, as stated by Cerebral.

Upon discovering the mishap, Cerebral moved swiftly to disable, reconfigure, and remove the tracking pixels that were responsible for exposing the data. The company has also bolstered its information security practices and technology vetting procedures to minimize the risk of similar incidents occurring in the future. The US Department of Health and Human Services is currently investigating the matter, which follows the Federal Trade Commission’s $1.5 million fine against GoodRx for sharing patient data with Meta and Google. Moreover, the agency announced earlier this month that it had reached a $7.8 million settlement with online counselling firm BetterHelp and was seeking to prohibit the company from sharing health information for ad targeting purposes.

PlayStation 6 Design Rumours Surface, PS5 Pro Likely to be Sacked

The PlayStation 5 (PS5) has been a massive success in the gaming industry since its launch in November 2020. Despite supply chain issues and manufacturing challenges during the pandemic, the PS5 has managed to break records and outsell its predecessor, the PS4, in the same timeframe. Sony has announced that the PS5 has sold more than 13.4 million units as of July 2021, making it the fastest-selling console in the company’s history. The PS5’s impressive sales numbers can be attributed to its improved hardware, including a faster SSD and advanced haptic feedback in its DualSense controller, as well as its impressive lineup of exclusive games such as “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” and “Demon’s Souls.” With its continued success and a strong pipeline of upcoming games, the PS5 looks poised to remain a major player in the gaming industry for years to come. Even so, the PS6 is something that every console fan will be looking forward to, and now, Sony enthusiasts have something to be excited about.

Rumors of a new PlayStation 6 (PS6) have been circulating on the internet, fueled by a tweet from WorryWartGamer claiming that a hardware designer for the console has been recruited, with PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny as the candidate. Sony is not expected to release the PS6 before 2028, but that doesn’t mean they can afford to pause development. YouTuber RedGamingTech believes that the PlayStation 5 Pro may be sacked due to Sony’s limited resources being focused on implementing company partnerships, hardware and software development, and worldwide marketing for the PS6.

Furthermore, the possibility of a modular PS5 console has already been rumoured, which could prompt Sony to abandon plans for a PS5 Pro or PS5 Slim. With the groundwork for the PS6 already in motion, producing a purported detachable disk drive model would allow Sony to release a PS5-like console and move on to creating a new console that will meet the expectations of fans.

Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra Camera Hardware Defect is Causing Blurry Pictures

Samsung‘s recently launched flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra are back and trending again, but for different reasons than you might think. The devices were launched back in February last month, with a host of industry-leading features, including powerful processors, high-quality cameras, and vibrant displays. The Galaxy S23 features a 6.5-inch screen, while the S23 Ultra boasts a 6.8-inch display, both of which offer high refresh rates for smoother scrolling and gameplay. However, the latest complaints from users worldwide suggest that there might be a major defect with the camera modules of these devices.

Galaxy S23 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus seem to be facing a hardware issue, with a faulty main lens resulting in blurry images. Users have reported noticing banana or ring-shaped blurs in pictures taken from the phones, with some portions of the images appearing blurry and out of focus. Although the issue first surfaced in German tech forums, it has since been reported on Reddit, XDA forums, and Samsung community boards. It appears that most of the affected units were manufactured in Vietnam, but some Indian and South Korean units also have the issue.

While Samsung is yet to comment on the issue, it seems likely that affected users may have to get their camera module replaced if this turns out to be a hardware defect. However, there is a little hope that the problem may be fixed through a software update, as Samsung is said to be preparing a significant camera update for the Galaxy S23 series. If users are not particularly particular about image quality, they may not even notice these issues, but for those who are, the problem can be quite noticeable.

Electric bikes, or e-bikes, have emerged as a popular alternative to traditional bicycles due to their numerous benefits, including their ability to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental sustainability. E-bikes use an electric motor and rechargeable batteries, which emit significantly less pollution than gasoline-powered vehicles. By choosing e-bikes over cars, individuals can reduce their carbon footprint and help improve air quality in urban areas. Audi just launched its new e-bike, but interestingly, it’s priced higher than other four-wheelers.

Audi

The e-bike exudes luxury and sophistication. This upscale bike is inspired by the brand’s RS Q E-tron E2 electric Dakar Rally racer, and boasts high-end specifications that are sure to impress bike enthusiasts.

Crafted by Italy’s Fantic, this electric bike, based on the XMF 1.7, features a 250W Brose motor, also found in Harley-Davidson’s Serial 1 Bash/Mtn, which is powered by Fantic’s 720Wh battery. This combination delivers an impressive 66ft/lb of torque, although Audi has not yet revealed its top speed or range.

The bike’s power pack is significantly larger than that of the Bash/Mtn’s 529Wh unit, which offers a range of 30 to 95 miles, depending on the conditions. Additionally, the Audi e-bike has four levels of electric assistance, ranging from a mild Eco mode to the all-out Boost mode, very similar to other Brose-powered e-bikes.

The bike’s frame design is made of aluminum and features various high-quality components, including Braking IN.CA.S disc brakes, an Öhlins fork and shock, and Sram components for the chain, shifters and derailleur. You will also find premium Italian touches, such as the Vittoria tires and Sella Italia saddle. The Öhlins gear provides 7.1in of suspension travel, which is more than the XMF 1.7’s 6.7in.

The Audi electric mountain bike is available in three sizes and is priced at £8,499 (about $10,200) in the UK. This limited- model is more expensive than some of its competitors, such as the $3,999 Bash/Mtn, the GMC Hummer e-bike, and the more powerful $5,499 Jeep e-bike. However, you are paying for the bike’s big battery, the use of other well-known parts, and Audi’s exclusive design. If people can afford one of Audi’s high-end EVs, this e-bike might just be in the budget as well.

Samsung Reportedly Not Planning To Launch Galaxy S23 FE Smartphone

It’s been a few weeks since Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, launched its flagship Galaxy S-series lineup for this year, which includes three phones — Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Going by the company’s track record, the South Korean giant should launch a new device in the lineup — Galaxy S23 FE. There have also been some leaks related to the phone, indicating its launch somewhere around August, but that may not be the case.

Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra

According to the latest report, Samsung may skip releasing the Fan Edition for the S-series this year, meaning that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE may not get launched. Apart from the Galaxy S23 FE not launching this year, there’s not much known about this.

It is not yet clear if the Galaxy S23 FE isn’t launching this year, then it is getting canceled or postponed. It doesn’t make sense for Samsung to launch the phone next year as in early 2024, there will be a successor to the Galaxy S23 lineup. So, it’s pretty safe to assume that if the S23 FE isn’t getting launched this year, it’s not coming to the market.

The Fan Edition or the FE offering for the flagship Galaxy S-series is meant to be a “flagship killer” type of device, and the company launches it with a similar kind of budget. But, the problem is that the previous year’s S-series lineup becomes available at a discounted rate, and then there are mid-range and upper mid-range Galaxy A-series phones, giving tough competition to the FE model.

As of now, it’s safe to assume that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE isn’t getting launched, especially after the fact that the company didn’t launch the Galaxy S22 FE last year. Based on the developments, it appears that Samsung is done with the Fan Edition offerings.

Biden Holds Emergency Announcement Tomorrow to Address US Banking Crisis

After experiencing both the 2nd and 3rd largest US bank failures in history, the President of the United States, Joe Biden will hold an emergency announcement tomorrow morning (Washington Time) to address the current US banking crisis.

Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank Banking Crisis

As per Reuters, the news comes after the US government announced that it is taking actions to shore up deposits in the country and stem any broader financial fallout from the sudden collapse of both Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank.

The past 3 days saw 2 of the largest US bank failures in history – Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. Signature Bank (SBNY) ranks 3rd in the list of largest US bank failures in history with $118 billion USD in assets at the time of failure in 2023, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) ranks 2nd with $209 billion in assets in 2023, and Washington Mutual ranks 1st with $307 billion in assets in 2008.

The White House has issued a press statement stating that over the weekend, the US government has been working diligently with the country’s banking regulators to address problems at Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. And a prompt solution of providing all depositors at these banks back their deposits, both insured and uninsured, will commence on Monday. It was mentioned that the solution also ensures that US taxpayer dollars are not put at risk.

And with all the concerns and complaints of the crisis ongoing, Joe Biden stated that he is “firmly committed to holding those responsible for this mess fully accountable and to continuing our efforts to strengthen oversight and regulation of larger banks so that we are not in this position again.”

On a closing note, the US President will deliver remarks on how the country will maintain a resilient banking system to protect its historic economic recovery tomorrow morning.
