Meizu Wants To Reclaim a Top 5 Spot in China’s Flagship Phone Market in 3 Years

Once a leading smartphone brand in China, Meizu has lost ground to larger competitors such as Xiaomi and Honor, and its relevance has been dwindling. The company has now been acquired by a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and it seems the new owners are dedicated to reviving Meizu’s dying legacy.

Shen Ziyu, CEO and Chairman of Xingji Meizu Group, announced in an interview that the company’s mobile phone division has set its sights on reclaiming a top-five position in China’s mid-to-high-end smartphone market within the next three years. Meizu has already announced the launch of its new flagship series, the Meizu 20, in China in March. The new lineup should provide a much-needed boost for the corporation, as it seeks to regain momentum in the highly competitive smartphone market.

The Xingji Meizu group (Xingji is a venture launched by Geely founder Li Shufu in 2021 to make premium smartphones and other connected devices) is reportedly planning to establish over 400 after-sales service stores throughout China in 2023. Additionally, the company aims to build between 90 to 120 offline experience stores that combine automobile, mobile phone sales, and after-sales services. Meizu has set a goal of reaching a total of 1,000 offline stores within the next three years.

During the interview, Shen Ziyu also outlined Xingji Meizu Group’s strategy to integrate global technology and talent resources and focus on full-link innovation in consumer electronics. The company aims to break down the boundaries between different smart devices, such as mobile phones, XR, operating systems, chips, and cars, in order to achieve in-depth integration and synergy within the consumer electronics industry.

Aside from the hole, the sketch also shows the curved edges on the left and right sides of the screen similar to that of the recently released Honor Magic5. The phone will feature a 6.6-inch 2K BOE OLED display and be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with a memory combination of LPDDR5X+UFS4.0.

New Wiko 5G Smartphone Spotted on TENNA with 5G & Huawei’s HarmonyOS

Back in December 2022, the Wiko 5G (rebranded Huawei Nova 9 SE) was officially launched in China as a smartphone that supports the newer and faster bandwidth and runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS. Now, it appears that a brand is working on another new 5G enabled handset. So here are all the details.

WIKO

A new Wiko 5G device has recently passed through China’s TENAA certification website. For those unaware, every device sold in the region has to pass through this certification ahead of official release, so it is clear that the company is working on a new 5G smartphone. Unfortunately, finer details regarding this device like its specifications and pricing are still at large. Although, we know that is carries the model number GAR-AN00.

Furthermore, this device will run on HarmonyOS, which is Huawei’s proprietary operating system, and is approved to support 5G networking as well. The previous Wiko 5G model was equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, so it is possible that the next gen model will also feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon series SoC or maybe even a MediaTek Dimensity chip. It is unclear if this model will be a more expensive model compared to the Wiko 5G which is a mid range device.

This model sported a tall 6.78 inch LCD panel that has a Full HD+ resolution, a center aligned punch hole selfie camera, and a high 120Hz refresh rate. The device was powered by a 4,000mAh battery pack that supports 66W fast charging as well. The Wiko 5G was launched in China for 1,999 Yuan (roughly 290 US Dollars), so we can expect the next gen model to be around this same price point or possibly higher if its similar to a flagship grade device.

Samsung

A tipster has revealed the kernel information regarding the Exynos 2300 SoC. This chipset is code named Quadra and adopts a 1+4+4 core configuration. Apart from this, it will still feature the custom design AMD RDNA 2 architecture.

Samsung

Apart from the Cortex-X3, the performance cores will consist of 2.65GHz Cortex-A715 while the Cortex-A510 cores will clock in at 2.1GHz. Meanwhile, the GPU is dubbed the Samsung Xclipse 930. Asus Zenfone 10 Specs & Launch Timeline Leaked, Not a Compact Smartphone Anymore?

Last year, Asus launched the Zenfone 9 compact smartphone in the global market which was loved by normal consumers and enthusiasts alike. It featured an FHD+ 5.9-inch AMOLED display along with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. Now, a new report has revealed the specs of the upcoming Zenfone 10, and to the surprise of many, this model isn’t that compact.

Asus

According to a report by PriceBaba, the Asus Zenfone 10 (with model number AI2302) will be a flagship phone that boasts a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform.

The Zenfone 10 is expected to come with 16GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The device will be fueled by a 5,000mAh battery, which may support fast charging at 67W. Additionally, it will be equipped with a liquid cooling system for efficient heat dissipation.

The Zenfone 10 will run on the latest Android 13 OS. It will feature an impressive OIS-enabled 200-megapixel primary camera for photography. The phone will also have an IP68-rated dustproof and water-resistant body, just like its predecessor. According to the report, the launch of the Zenfone is anticipated to occur during the fourth quarter of 2023.

Please take this report with caution as the source has not yet been disclosed. However, if it is accurate, then we might see the departure of the Zenfone from the compact category. This could be due to the company’s desire to expand the appeal of the Zenfone 9 to a broader range of consumers. While compact smartphones are popular with some customers, most prefer larger displays, and the Zenfone’s 6.3-inch screen could attract more buyers.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro’s 3nm A17 Bionic GeekBench Scores Leak Reveals Impressive Performance Upgrades

A new leak has just revealed the performance of the next generation of Apple SoCs for its smartphones and tablets. The new A17 Bionic will be based on the 3nm process and its GeekBench scores has just been revealed. So let’s have a look.

Apple

The news arrives from a known tech YouTuber Max Tech who spotted the A17 Bionic on the latest GeekBench 6 benchmarking platform. Based on what we know so far, the upcoming A17 Bionic will power devices like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max and will be based on the 3nm process from TSMC. The new cutting edge process would enable the upcoming A17 Bionic SoC to be more energy efficient while also offering improved performance overall.

However, the advanced semiconductor fabrication technology would also mean higher cost of production. So, the Cupertino based giant might raise the cost of the iPhone 15 Pro models. Looking at the benchmark scores, the A17 Bionic managed to achieve a score of 3986 points for its single core test and a 8841 points on the GeekBench 6 multi core tests. This is quite impressive considering this chipset is almost rivaling the performance offered on a MacBook.

In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro with the A16 Bionic achieved a score of 2504 points and 6314 points on the single core and multi core tests respectively. This implies that the A17 Bionic is offering a near 60 percent boost in performance in single core and a 40 percent multi core performance upgrade over its predecessor. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.
