The long-awaited iQOO Neo 7 is coming to India on February 16, however, it will not be the same as its Chinese counterpart. The brand has confirmed that the Indian Neo 7 will be powered by a Dimensity 8200 chipset and support 120W charging. Today, a new report has revealed the screen specs, design, and color options of the upcoming smartphone. Here are the details.
The upcoming Neo 7 is reported to come with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display offering 120Hz refresh rate. It will be available in two colors— Gray and Blue. The new details suggest that the Indian Neo 7 will in fact be a rebranded Neo 7 SE, which debuted recently in China.
Recently, the company shared some details about the phone’s performance. It confirmed that Neo 7 will be powered by the Dimensity 8200 chipset clocked at 88% of its max performance. The handset is claimed to arrive with an ultra-game mode and full coverage 3D Cooling System.
If the Neo 7 is indeed a rebranded Neo 7 SE, we can expect it to feature a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. It could boast a high-resolution 64MP primary camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor on the rear. A 16MP front-facing camera will likely be present on the handset for video calls and taking selfies. It will have a Type-C charging port and dual speakers.
While the pricing of the smartphone is still anyone’s guess, the brand has revealed the Neo 7 will be sold in India through Amazon and iQOO e-store. We should be learning more details about the smartphone in the coming days.
The RedMagic 8 Pro flagship seems to be the first flagship in 2023 to go through the paces of JerryRigEverything’s test. The intense and rigorous durability test results seem to have confirmed the reliability of the latest gaming powerhouse.
RedMagic 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and has an under-display camera (UDC). It is also equipped with a fan-powered cooling mechanism and decent chassis quality. The RedMagic 8 Pro was put through durability testing by the host Zach Nelson. The YouTube video shows the preference of the host on the smartphone’s screen.
The device was put through strenuous scratch, burn, and crack tests but the phone’s screen held firm overall. The 6.8-inch screen of the gaming smartphone held firm at the end of the first two stages of the procedure. Deeper grooves were observed at level 7 and the phone’s screen was particularly resistant to the heat. As an aside, the YouTube video provides a great view of the UDC component of the smartphone.
The smartphone’s selfie camera withstood the heat and is obviously an upgraded version seemingly better than some flagships like the Z Fold. The faux-transparent panel of the RedMagic 8 Pro void colorway exhibited some potential failings during the testing. One of the weak areas is its integrated air ducts and the 3.5mm jack.
The bend test results were quite impressive for the RedMagic 8 Pro. The rear glass, however, parted during the bend test but did not snap under the pressure. The smartphone’s display was not also affected. The smartphone, having come out pretty unscathed, has set a marker for other gaming models to be released this year. It remains the best offering by RedMagic within the segment so far.
Fire-Boltt, a homegrown smartwatch brand in India, has announced its expansion into two Southeast Asian markets. The firm has debuted its top-selling smartwatches in the Singapore and Vietnam regions.
The move follows the firm’s UAE expansion last year and is part of FireBoltt’s international growth and expansion plans. The company has been seeing a steady increase in demand for its smartwatches, and this move is a strategic step towards capturing a larger share of the smartwatch market in Southeast Asia.
Fire-Boltt has partnered with SmartechSG Private Limited, a leading e-commerce provider in the region, to launch operations in Singapore and Vietnam as part of this expansion. The partnership will enable the company to leverage SmartechSG’s extensive distribution network and reach a wider audience in the region.
Initially, the company intended to sell its best-selling smartwatches, such as the Visionary, Invincible, Ring, and Talk 2, as well as watches from its Ninja Series, through e-commerce platforms in both markets. The company also promises to gradually expand its presence in those regions’ offline markets by setting up retail outlets and partnering with leading retailers.
In an interview with the Economic Times, Fire-Boltt CEO Arnav Kishore stated that the company will begin exporting from its Indian manufacturing units in February. He also stated that this is possible because the company has the capacity to produce 100,000 units per day. Fire-Boltt also expects to be able to make up to 70,000 more units per day to ship overseas.
Despite being a homegrown brand, Fire-Boltt still relies on China for 50% of its components, such as the display, battery, and PCB. Nonetheless, the company is taking steps to reduce its dependence on China by investing in research and development to develop local suppliers and vendors.
Fire-Boltt plans to expand to 13 countries in the first quarter of 2023, including parts of Europe and the United States. The company is confident that its high-quality smartwatches and competitive pricing will enable it to capture a significant share of the smartwatch market in these regions.
In a bit of news that will draw mixed emotions, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi has started to receive its final major update in the form of Android 13. Samsung already rolled out the latest software to the LTE version of the tablet earlier this week. The Wi-Fi-only model, launched in 2020, is currently getting the Android 13-based One UI 5 update in France, with a wider rollout projected to begin soon. Here are the details.
The One UI 5 update is rolling out for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi version with model number SM-P610. It brings a refreshed lock screen customization menu and performance optimization to the tablet. There’s also a better color palette integration for customizing your home screen and app icons, and more. Oddly, the software update comes with the November 2022 security patch when some Samsung devices have already started getting the January 2023 security update.
As mentioned, the Android 13 update is currently being seeded in France. However, it should spread across Europe pretty soon. You will be able to download the update to your Galaxy Tab S6 Lite by opening the Settings app, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi debuted back in 2020 running Android 10 out of the box. The tablet later received the Android 11 and Android 12 updates. Since the device is not a part of Samsung’s four-year upgrade plan, Android 13 will be its last major update.
To recall, the Samsung tablet comes with a 10.4-inches TFT LCD display with 1200 x 2000 pixels resolution. It is powered by the Exynos 9611 chip paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. There’s an 8MP rear and a 5MP front camera.
LineageOS is by far the most popular custom ROM out there. Its popularity can be attributed to its near-stock UI or superior security and privacy features. The latest iteration of the software, LineageOS 20, was released back in December 2022 and since then it has expanded to a sizable number of devices. The latest devices joining the project are Samsung Galaxy A52 4G, Galaxy A72, Nokia 6.1, and more. Here are the details.
The development team over at LineageOS 20 has added a bunch of new devices to the official roster. These devices are Galaxy A52 4G, Galaxy A72, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Motorola One Action, and Motorola One Vision. Owners of the mentioned devices can now try the latest version of the custom ROM and give their phones a new look.
Below you can find the detailed instructions and download links:
It is worth mentioning that Samsung has already released the Android 13-based One UI 5 update for the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72. Motorola, on the other hand, did not update the One Action and One Vision beyond Android 11. Both Nokia devices mentioned above were launched back in 2018 and the brand has removed them from the software support list.
To install LineageOS 20 on your device, you’ll have to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery like TWRP. Once you’ve done that, follow the installation instructions provided in the LineageOS Wiki of your device. Before unlocking the bootloader, make sure you back up your data to avoid losing it.

Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS are the two operating systems used in almost every smartphone and tablet today. But it seems India wants to challenge the two behemoths with its own mobile OS. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has indigenously developed a new mobile operating system, called BharOS to benefit the country’s 100 crore mobile phone users.
BharOS was announced today, January 19 at a press conference conducted by IIT Madras. Currently, the Indian OS is being provided to organizations that have stringent privacy and security requirements where sensitive information must be handled confidentially. The OS is developed by JandK Operations Private Limited (JandKops), which is a Section 8 (not-for-profit) Company established by IIT Madras.
The operating system comes with various security and privacy features. For instance, there are No Default Apps (NDA), which means users are not forced to use any app by default and they can install whatever apps they are familiar with or trust. This approach gives users more control over the permissions that apps have on their device because they can choose to only allow apps that they trust to access certain features or data on their device, stated the Institute.
BharOS also provides individual businesses with access to apps curated by private app store services (PASS). Apparently, PASS allows access to a hand-picked collection of apps that have been verified to be compliant with a business’ privacy and security needs.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras said, “BharOS Service is a Mobile Operating System built on a foundation of trust, with a focus on providing users more freedom, control, and flexibility to choose and use only the apps that fit their needs. This innovative system promises to revolutionize the way users think about security and privacy on their mobile devices.”

Earlier this week, Applelaunched the second-generation HomePod. The company also introduced new MacBook Pro models and a new Mac Mini. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant has quietly hiked the prices of the existing HomePod Mini and the 24-inch iMac in global markets including India. The revised prices are reflected on Apple’s official website, however, they are retailing at old prices on the brand’s authorised resellers and online platforms in the country.
The Apple HomePod Mini debuted way back in 2020 at a price tag of Rs 9,900. It has become expensive by Rs 1,000. The smart speaker now costs Rs 10,900, however, it is still up for grabs at a pre-hike price and we assume it to be for a limited period. The device is equipped with S5 and U1 chips along with four microphones. It also has a secret temperature sensor that’s been lying dormant since launch. Apple did not activate it, however, with the HomePod second generation featuring the sensor, it is expected to arrive on the affordable smart speaker as well with the upcoming HomePod 16.3 software update. The temperature sensor will let users record and monitor the room temperature as well as humidity around them.
As for the 24-inch iMac, it was launched in April 2021. It is offered in multiple storage configurations, GB / 16GB RAM options, and 8-core CPU + 7-core GPU and 8-core CPU + 8-core GPU. All configurations of the iMac have received a price hike of Rs 10,000. The base variant with 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage earlier costed Rs 1,19,900 and now after the price increase, it is available for Rs 1,29,900. The iMac model with 8-core CPU and GPU that started at Rs 1,39,900 now carries a price tag of Rs 1,49,900.
Apple is facing a third class-action lawsuit in New York over data collection on its iPhones. Despite the company’s own privacy settings, Apple is collecting analytics data about how users use their phones, potentially revealing sensitive information such as sexual orientation and religious beliefs. The lawsuit claims that this data collection violates users’ privacy rights and goes against Apple’s own stated policy of respecting users’ ability to control their personal data. Here are the details…
New York lawsuit seeks $5 million in damages from Apple over iPhone data collection
Apple faces a third class-action lawsuit in New York over data collection on its iPhones. The lawsuit says, even under the company’s own privacy settings, Apple collects analytics data about how users use their iPhones. The text of the third lawsuit is nearly identical to the second. Paul Whalen, the attorney who sued Apple in the New York case, said it wasn’t an inadvertent wrongful case, but that Apple knowingly promised one thing and did the exact opposite.
This data collection, which includes detailed real-time information about everything users do in certain apps, such as the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV and Stocks, can raise serious privacy concerns. For example, searches and downloads of specific apps in the App Store can reveal Information about a user’s sexual orientation, religion, or even sensitive health issues. The data is transferred via a permanent ID number tied to an iCloud account, linking the data to the user’s name email address and phone number.
Apple hasn’t responded to any media inquiries about the issue since Gizmodo first reported it in November, despite repeated requests. The company’s privacy policy states that they respect users’ ability to know, access, correct, transmit, limit, process and delete their personal data, but that doesn’t seem to be the case when it comes to restricting data processing on the iPhone.
Samsung Galaxy A34 5G has cleared the FCC certification website. It is listed with model number SM-A346M. The certification listing reveals some details about the smartphone’s charging and connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy A34 5G was spotted in leaked renders last month and it has also appeared on Bluetooth SIG, BIS, and Geekbench websites. This hints at the imminent arrival of the smartphone.
As per FCC, the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G will support 25W fast charging. The listing revealed that a charger made by Samsung with model number EP-TA800 was used. It is a Type-C charger with USB-PD and PPS protocols. The upcoming smartphone will come with 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC.
Going by the Geekbench listing, the Galaxy A34 5G will reportedly be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. It will run on Android 13 out of the box. The smartphone scores 778 and 2,332 points in the benchmark platform’s single-core and multi-core tests respectively.
Leaked renders reveal that the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G will come with a waterdrop notch, bezels on all sides of the 6.5-inch screen and a thicker chin. It is expected to feature an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The back panel has vertically stacked three camera sensors without any module. Past reports suggested that Samsung will be ditching depth camera on its A-series phones this year. The upcoming Galaxy A34 5G will likely be backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit.
The recent renders of the Galaxy A34 5G shows the smartphone in graphite, violet, lime, and silver colours.
Shell is set to making a new acquisition as it expands its presence in the electric vehicle market in the US. The company is buying out Volta, which is an electric vehicle charging station for around 169 million US Dollars. So here are all the details.
The gasoline giant is aiming on closing this major deal sometime within the first half of this year. For those unaware, Volta isn’t the first of its kind deal, rather, it is the second US EV charging starting that the company has acquired. Its last acquisition of a similar firm was Greenlots, which was purchased by Royal Dutch Shell back in 2019. As of right now, Volta operates over 3,000 destination charging stations across 31 states and even has chargers in Europe.
As per official notes, the company is also planning to install another 3,400 EV charging stations. Although, the timeline for this step is currently unknown. Back in 2022, Volta was ranked second in terms of customer satisfaction for Level 2 chargers, being second only to Tesla. In other words, this acquisition will clearly help position Shell in the overall EV market. Volta also operates stations in high traffic retail parking lots as well and provides free electricity for EV owners.
So, its main source of revenue is its ad displays that are used by advertising clients. Interestingly enough, the latest purchase from Shell is also quite notable since it isn’t common for oil and gas companies to acquire EV charging networks. But now, the acquisition of Volta along with Greenlots will have Shell own a total of more than 57,000 charging stations. These stations will also be renamed as Shell Recharge Solutions.
Apple has announced that it is releasing a new iOS update next week. The Cupertino-based tech giant released the iOS 16.2 last month. The upcoming update version is iOS 16.3. It will bring fixes and improvements as well as exclusive content in honour of Black History Month.
The upcoming iOS 16.3 update will resolve the issue of horizontal lines on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max’s display upon waking up the device. The next version will also enable the use of physical security keys to protect Apple ID meaning users will be able to configure a physical hardware device as a second factor for two-factor authentication for their accounts. Apple will also fix issues with the lock screen where the widget did not accurately displayed the status of the Home app. It will also add support for the newly launched second-generation HomePod along with a tutorial that instructs users how to use Handoff features that are compatible with iPhone and HomePod.
The iOS 16.3 will also bring Black Unity wallpaper to celebrate Black History Month. The update is also expected to fix a Freeform flaw where some drawing strokes made with an Apple Pencil or finger may not show up in shared boards.
iPhone users will be able to install the iOS 16.3 as soon as it is released over the air. This can be done by going to Settings > selecting General > selecting Software Update from the submenu. Alongside the iOS 16.3, Apple is also tipped to announce iPadOS 16.3, watchOS 9.3, tvOS 16.3 and macOS 13.2
Apple is also introducing Black Unity Sport Loop for the Watch Series in 41mm and 45mm sizes. It is available for order in US for $49
iPhone models tend to retain more value over time than Android models, according to a recent report from a company that specializes in reselling used devices. Not only do they lose less value, but they also depreciate more slowly. Here are the details…
The trade-in value of Apple’s iPhones remains unmatched
When it comes to trade-in value, Apple’s iPhones remain unmatched. A recent report from a company specializing in reselling old devices shows that the value of Apple’s iPhones tends to hold up better over time than their Android counterparts. For example, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which was Apple’s top-of-the-line smartphone between September 2021 and September 2022, has lost less than half its value (44.6%) even though it is almost a year and a half old.
In comparison, the newest iPhone 14 Pro Max has depreciated by about 27% since its launch. It’s worth noting that these numbers are for the 128GB version of the device. On average, Apple’s iPhones lose about 69% of their value over time. While this may sound like a lot, it’s important to consider that this is 2/3 of the MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price).
However, Samsung smartphones generally lose about 90% of their value across all models and generations. This is partly due to the fact that Samsung offers a number of entry-level and midrange devices that are difficult to resell, which in turn diminishes their value. In conclusion, when it comes to trade-in value, Apple’s iPhones remain unmatched. Even as technology advances and new models are released, the value of older iPhones holds up well over time.
After the launch of the iQOO Neo 7 series in China, the brand has extensively teased the upcoming iQOO Neo 7 for the Indian market. As many leaks and teasers have revealed so far, we already know that the iQOO Neo 7 coming to India will be a rebranded iQOO Neo 7 SE.
iQOO Neo 7 (Indian variant)
Now, the brand has finally confirmed that the iQOO Neo 7 will debut on 16th February 2023. In a press release, the brand has also shared some key information about the upcoming device. It is confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. The brand has specified that the chipset has been clocked at 88% of its max performance. Although this might seem like a drawback, limiting the maximum performance and preventing the chipset from redlining will provide more stable performance with long-use scenarios.
iQOO Neo 7 performance over time graph
At its core, the device is made for gaming, and to manage the heat produced from long gaming sessions, the company has included a full coverage 3D cooling system in the device. Through testing, the brand claims that the iQOO Neo 7 can get scores higher than 890,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark. Let’s take a look at what other specs the device will launch with.
iQOO Neo 7 specs (expected)
The iQOO Neo 7 will offer a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The display features an in-display fingerprint scanner and a Full HD+ resolution. A 5000mAh battery and 120W fast charging capability will be included Neo series smartphone.
iQOO Neo 7 (Indian variant)
A high-resolution 64MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor are expected to be present on the device. The 16MP front-facing camera may be used for video calls and taking selfies. The phone sports a Type-C charging port and dual speakers. Last but not the least, the device will be powered by the Dimensityu 8200 chipset.
Google’s YouTube TV has quickly risen to become the largest live streaming service in the US by offering an entirely internet-based alternative to traditional TV subscriptions. Features like a la carte programming and a cheap 4K tier have helped drive growth since its launch in 2017, but a top-tier user experience has always been one of the service’s main strengths when compared to cable and satellite. To help maintain its edge in this category, YouTube TV is currently rolling out significant revamps to two of its interfaces users interact with most.
The Library and Live views at the top of the main menu are receiving updated looks and some new features in the latest update for the big-screen version of the app. The Live tab now has a more condensed layout in the programming list and a new set of curated recommendations across the top. Once you start scrolling, this is replaced by a summary and thumbnail of the highlighted show.
The Library tab is getting a new section aimed at helping you quickly “Catch up on your favorites” this represents YouTube TV‘s best guess for the shows, movies, and events you’ll want to jump into next. Filters are now placed below this new shelf of recommendations, and the rest of the shows in your library will be beneath that. In both views, long-pressing a title will now bring up a compact side sheet with relevant actions and a brief summary, and pressing the back button on your remote will simply dismiss this overlay without taking you away from the page you were previously viewing.
The changes to the Live tab appear to be available to all users already, but the Library tweaks are still in the process of rolling out. As with most YouTube TV interface updates, the switch should be made with a server-side update, so you’ll just need to reload the app when the Library changes do go live. These updates are a welcome addition to YouTube TV, as the service continues to improve and offer even more value to its users.
Earlier this week, Audi finally won its lawsuit against NIO. The company had sued the Chinese brand over infringing upon some of its trademarks and has now won the legal battle that will have NIO change the names of some of its car models in Europe.
For those unaware, the automobile giant had sued the EV maker over two of its car models, namely the ES8 and ES6. Audi had alleged that these names were in risk of confusion with Audi’s existing S6 and S8 models. Now, the Munich Regional Court in Germany has ruled in favor of the German company in its trademark battle against the Chinese EV maker. As per the court’s Judge, the addition of the letter ‘E’ does not make NIO’s cars distinctive enough since it only stands for ‘Electric.’
Meaning, the ‘E’ have customers assume vehicle engine type, so people might confuse the ES8 from NIO be an electric only version of the Audi S8 model. As of right now, the court’s decision is not final. Interestingly, NIO’s spokesperson had previously stated that if the court’s ruling was not in favor of the Chinese EV Maker, it will likely lead to an appeal. The company has denied all claims of it trademark infringement and claims that the confusion is still unlikely as the two NIO cars are SUV models while the S6 and S8 are sedan class cars.
The two firms have been embroiled in the lawsuit since October 2021 over the ES6 and ES8 EVs. At the moment, NIO only sells its S6 and S8 model in Norway outside of its home market of China. Notably, a refreshed 2023 version of the ES8 was recently announced in the Chinese market and is set to launch in Europe in the middle of the year.
