The Google Chromecast with Google TV was introduced in late 2020. Earlier this year, a report revealed that the search is planning to debut a 1080p version of this product. A few months later, this upcoming device was certified by FCC. Some of its specs were also leaked recently. Now, we even know the design of the product, thanks to leaked renders.

Google Chromecast HD With Google TV

Roland Quandt of WinFuture has shared a bunch of renders showcasing the design of the upcoming Google Chromecast HD with Google TV. Going by the pictures, the new model will be identical to the original product.

One of the images also discloses the box contents. The streaming device will ship with a remote control, 2 x AAA batteries, a USB Type-A to Type-C cable, and a power adapter. All of them will be white in color, just like the product itself.

Though the appearance will be the same as the older model, the new model will come with a different set of specifications. First and foremost, it will be limited to 1080p (FHD) streaming.

Also, it will feature a slightly lower 1.5GB RAM (compared to 2GB). It will be powered by a less powerful Amlogic S805X2 chipset. But this SoC carries support for AV1 decoding, which is not available in the Amlogic S905X3 chip present inside the original 4G model.

Realme 9 5G receives Android 12 based Realme UI 3.0 update

Back in July, Realme began testing Realme UI 3.0 open beta builds for the Realme 9 5G. Now, the brand has finally released the Android 12-based stable build for the device for regular users.

Realme 9 5G Realme UI 3.0

The Realme UI 3.0 stable update rollout will be released to Realme 9 5G users in batches, and to be eligible for the update, users will have to make sure that they are on the firmware version RMX3388_11.A.06 / RMX3388_11.A.07.

As usual, the update will be rolling out in badges, so it might take a few days before the update is made available on all devices. Realme has also listed some common issues that might occur after the update that the users will need to be mindful of. You can check them out below.

Common issues

a. After the upgrade, it may take a longer time to boot for the first time, especially if there are many third-party applications on your phone.

b. After the upgrade, in order to improve the system’s operation efficiency and eliminate potential safety risks, the system will perform a series of actions such as application adaptation, background optimization, and security scanning. So, the system will occupy more CPU, memory, and other resources, which may cause slight hanging and faster power consumption.

The new update will bring a new UI design to the device along with new features and increased performance and efficiency. Cameras will also get a few new options, and gaming will be smoother with more stable frame rates and less battery consumption.

Samsung Galaxy S series smartphones could come without physical buttons

Samsung remains the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer, and the company’s Galaxy S-series devices remain one of the most premium offerings from the brand. But, it’s been ages since we have seen any major design changes in the Galaxy S-series lineup.

Now, it appears that the South Korean giant is planning to take a leap of faith and pull an Apple on its customers by removing an important feature of a smartphone. As per the latest report, the Galaxy S-series smartphones could come without any physical buttons.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The report claims that the Samsung Galaxy S-series smartphone without any type of physical buttons could get launched as soon as 2025, which means that the Galaxy S25 series could be the first with such a major change.

It remains to be seen how the company plans to add functionalities of the volume rocker keys and the power button. There should also be an option to forcefully shut down or restart the phone if needed. If Samsung is planning to remove physical buttons, it must have thought about these and may already have solutions for them.

In the recent past, Apple removed the Escape key from the keyboard when it introduced the Touch Bar on the laptop. However, the company eventually caved in after a major backlash and re-introduced the physical Escape key button.

HTC also tried doing something similar, but the company did not completely remove the physical buttons. For the HTC U12+, the buttons on the device weren’t mechanical buttons; however, the user feedback wasn’t good, and it was one of the worst parts of the phone.

Design

It is very hard to distinguish the iPhone 14 from the iPhone 13 because they have more or less the same design. There are a few small differences, but overall, they are almost identical. The new model comes with a bigger camera sensor and a slightly thicker body, while the older one is slightly thinner and slightly heavier than the new one. For the rest, they are pretty much the same. They come with the same notch above the display and the same screen to body ratio, with symmetric and narrow bezels around the screen. The borders are flat just like all the iPhones starting from the 12 (with the exception of the latest SE). They come with a power key placed on the right side of the device and volume keys on the left. They are waterproof with the IP68 certification and you can put them underwater up to 6 meters deep for a max time of 30 minutes.

Display

The iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14 have exactly the same display. We are talking about a Super Retina XDR OLED panel, one of the best displays in terms of image quality but, unfortunately, with a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. So expect great quality, but do not expect the highest viewing smoothness. The display has a diagonal of 6.1 inches and a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels, as well as a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the HDR10 certification, and Dolby Vision support. Just like all the latest Apple phones, it does not rely on a fingerprint reader for authentication but it supports 3D facial recognition thanks to the Face ID technology. The sensors for Face ID are placed in the notch above the display. The front glass is scratch resistant and it has an oleophobic coating.

Specs & Software

Despite their belonging to two different generations, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14 are powered by the same chipset. We are talking about the Apple A15 Bionic: an SoC built with a 5 nm production process and sporting an hexa-core architecture composed of two Avalanche CPUs (with high performance) running at a max frequency of 3.23 GHz, four Blizzard CPUs (with high efficiency) running at a frequency of 1.82 GHz, and a 5-core Apple proprietary GPU. But there is a difference in the hardware setups: the iPhone 13 has just 4 GB of RAM, while the iPhone 14 sports 6 GB of RAM. Another difference is the operating system: the former ships with iOS 15 out of the box (even though it can be updated to iOS 16), while the latter has iOS 16 out of the box, so it will get longer software support. The memory configurations available are three, with 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of internal storage.

Camera

At first glance, it looks like the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14 have the same cameras, but if you dig deeper, you will find improvements on the iPhone 14. It comes with the same dual rear camera setup composed of a 12 MP main sensor with OIS and a 12 MP ultrawide camera, but the main camera of the 14 has a brighter f/1.5 focal aperture and it should be able to capture a higher level of detail with low light. The same is for the front camera of the iPhone 14, sporting a brighter f/1.9 focal aperture instead of f/2.2.

Battery

There is just a small difference between the batteries of these two phones, but the iPhone 14 wins again. It is equipped with a 3279 mAh battery, while its predecessor has just 3240 mAh inside. This results in a slightly longer battery life. The charging speeds do not change as both the handsets are able to reach 50 percent in 30 minutes, they support MagSafe and 15W Qi wireless charging.

Price

You need at least $999/€999 to purchase the iPhone 14, while you can easily find the iPhone 13 for less than €900/$900 thanks to the actual street prices. Would you spend more to get just iOS 16 out of the box, a slightly bigger battery and slightly better cameras?

Logitech Brio 500 webcam with 1080p resolution & a built-in privacy shutter released

Logitech has unveiled its Brio 500 webcam with a built-in privacy shutter and a compact design. The privacy shutter in the webcam is neatly integrated into the device and it also features a Show Mode to broadcast what’s on your desk. The Brio 500 is however only capable of 1080p content unlike 4K webcams on the market.Logitech Brio 500 webcam

The Logitech Brio 500 is an improvement on the classic Logitech C920 which also outputs 1080p. It features an upgraded sensor than its predecessor for better image quality. The webcam has a cylindrical design with a pair of beamforming microphones flanking the 4MP camera. The mics help to reduce background noise during calls for greater clarity. The privacy shutter can be brought down by turning a dial at the right of the webcam. You can also tilt the camera angle towards your desk to activate Show Mode. The 1080p resolution of the Brio 500 yields 30fps, but you can get a frame rate of 60fps when using 720p resolution.

The webcam’s field of view is 90 degrees but can provide tighter images at 78 or 60 degrees. It can automatically center on the person speaking and adjust the lighting in a dimly-lit environment. The Brio 500 has a magnetized mounting mechanism consisting of a standard plastic mount and the webcam attaches magnetically to the plastic mount. It can be rotated 360 degrees. Alternatively, a tripod mount can also be deployed for the Brio 500.Logitech Brio 500 webcam
