OnePlus is preparing to soon launch a premium mid-range smartphone before this month ends. There have been several reported rumors in the market by known tipsters and leaksters about the well awaited OnePlus 10T. While all the spotlight has majorly fallen on the 10T, a new report has now emerged that a new OnePlus smartphone is in the works and has already received its BIS certification.
OnePlus 10T
According to a 91Mobiles report, the OnePlus smartphone with the CPH2413 model number has been spotted on the BIS certification website by reliable tipster Mukul Sharma. The smartphone is being dubbed the “OnePlus 10RT”, the latest rendition of the OnePlus 10R that was launched previously in this year.
OnePlus 10RT BIS
The leakster also revealed some specifications of the smartphone to spice things up. The optics are expected to be in a triple rear camera setup of 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro sensor with a front 16MP snapper. The display is rumored to be a 120Hz AMOLED screen and two color options namely Black and Green. Additionally, Sharma also hinted that the smartphone will come in two storage options- an 8 GB+128GB model and a 12GB+256GB storage unit. The device will likely run on Android 12-based Oxygen OS 12.
The news of this device has come as a shocker to the smartphone community, especially when the OnePlus 10T was supposed to be the last flagship device for the company this year. Although, OnePlus as a brand is well known to put out a few options for the consumers to choose from.
Relatedly, the new renders of OnePlus 10T have also surfaced online earlier today. The renders reveal a similar design to the OnePlus 10 Pro with a few minute differences that are clearly visible in the camera placement and the LED-flash module. Further, the reports also claim that the smartphone will come in two color options- Green and Black.
In October 2021, Japanese tech giant Sony Xperia reached an agreement with Chinese company Meizu that would see some elements of Meizu’s Flyme OS integrated on Sony Xperia smartphones. Since then, Xperia phones launched in China are equipped with several Flyme apps bringing a localized user experience.
There are indications that Sony may be toying with the idea of fully integrating Flyme OS on its smartphones. Already, existing Xperia phones sold in China are pre-installed with app store, email, weather, news and information widgets and others adapted by Flyme. However, a survey questionnaire sent out by Sony recently sought feedback from users regarding their experience using the OS delivered with a touch of Flyme features. One of the questions probed users for their view about Flyme fully integrated on the Xperia phones to replace the existing OS.
Rumors of Sony Xperia phones using Meizu’s Flyme OS first emerged in January this year. A Chinese blogger later revealed that Sony disclosed that the Xperia phones in China will on get some localized supplements provided by Meizu with the entire OS still based on stock Android. This survey could be an indication that Sony is having a rethinking. Afterall, the stock Android experience isn’t a trendy think in China as it is elsewhere. Most smartphone makers often offer customizations tailored to suit the needs of the locality it is serving. We will keep you informed as things unfold in this regard.
These days, smartphones are really getting crazier. Especially rugged smartphones, some of them have Night vision cameras, some have thermal imaging cameras, and some even have 21,000mAh humongous battery. This HOTWAV W10 is also insane, not only does it have a huge 15,000mAh battery, but it’s discounted for less than 100 dollars. Okay, let’s take a look at the W10 in today’s video to see if it’s really worth buying.
The box of the HOTWAV rugged phone seems to be the same, a black box with a red logo. The screen film has been attached to the phone. In addition to a Pin, 18w charger, and a Type-C charging cable, there is a USB-c to USB adapter in the box. What is the use of this cable, you can guess, but the answer we will reveal later.
Although it has a large 15,000mAh battery, it has the normal weight and thickness of a normal rugged phone. So you are still able to use the phone with one hand. Unlike normal phones, the rugged phone are always unique in design. The design style of W10 is still on the tough side. The camera module and fingerprint recognition are placed in the “shield”. The exposed screws are also a classic design for rugged phones. I recommend you buy the orange one because the orange color makes the W10 look less boring. Of course, the W10 is also certified IP68 and IP69K. Shock-proof? Of course, you can’t break this phone under normal conditions. The SIM card slot supports TF card expansion, and the speaker is at the bottom of the back. For those who like stereo sound, you can use the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top frame.
Now let’s talk about its huge battery. 15,000mAh may not be the biggest battery in the world, but it’s enough to beat 99% of other phones. Because its processor is so power-efficient, there’s no way we can drain its huge battery. When we received the W10 with 65% battery, we used the W10 to play 1080P online videos all night and then continued to run PUBG at lowest graphics, and the battery still had 20% left. Then we have to refer to the official data. According to the official W10 Standby time can reach 1200 hours, which is 50 days. In the field, you no longer have to be afraid of losing contact with family and friends because the phone is out of power.
The charging power of W10 is only 18w though. You may think that 18w power will be slow to charge a 15,000mAh battery. This is true, but you have to consider the user’s use case scenario. People who would buy this kind of phone would usually charge it fully before going to bed and then take it out. So the W10 doesn’t need a fast charging speed, as long as it has a big enough battery, it’s enough for them.
Remember the USB-c to USB adapter cable in the box? Do you guess what it is used for? If I combine it with the Type-C charging cable, you’ll know the answer. Yes, put together, they are a C to C cable. Because the W10 supports reverse charging, you can use it to charge your other devices. It doesn’t charge fast, but only as your emergency power, it should be enough.
Considering its ultra-low price of $99, honestly, we should lower our expectations for its other specs. The W10’s screen is a 6.53-inch 720P LCD screen. Although 720P sounds poor in clarity, this LCD screen actually looks only a little worse than the 1080P OLED screen. Clarity is not as bad as you might think. Performance is the W10’s biggest drawback. The MTK Helio A22 is an old entry-level processor, and its Benchmark score I’ll write on the screen. While the lowest graphics PUBG can run, it lags more, so it’s not very suitable for those who have gaming needs. About its camera, even the rugged phone which is more expensive than W10, the camera may not be very powerful. So I think the $99 rugged phone, which can quickly scan QR codes, is good enough.
HOTWAV’s rugged phone always surprises us, especially in terms of price. For only $99, you can get a drop-proof and waterproof Power bank that can make phone calls. This “Power bank” even can watch videos and take pictures. It may not be perfect as a phone, but it’s cheap, has a big battery, and someone will always need one of these.
This year’s 618 e-commerce festival in China that ran from May 31st to June 18th recorded slow growth in smartphone sales. The numbers were 10 percent down year-on-year due to COVID-19 and slowdown. TMall didn’t reveal its sales numbers whereas another e-commerce retailer JD recorded a GMV of RMB 379.3 billion, an increase of 10.3 percent compared to 2021.
According to Counterpoint report, discounts and promotions during the 618 festival helped lift China’s smartphone market from lows in April and May. The sales during the first week of the festival were up 32 percent, however, the total sales during the entire period were still down by 10 percent.
As per the data, Honor lead the market during this year’s 618 festival with 19.1 percent sales. It grew 148 percent YoY and was the only brand with positive growth. Vivo bagged the second spot whereas OPPO came third in the list. Mid-range smartphones from both brands like the Reno 8 and Vivo S15 helped drive their sales. Xiaomi’s market share declined during this year’s festival pulling down the brand to the fourth spot. The company’s best sales contributor this year was the Redmi K50. Meanwhile, Cupertino-based brand Apple maintained a stable market share, although the sales declined slightly year on year. The company was the clear winner in the high-end segment.
There are going to be five smartphone launch events next week. Two of them will be for high-profile premium devices. These two will be hosted by Xiaomi and Asus.
Whereas, the other two will be for budget handsets and the last one will be a special edition of an existing device. These phones are expected to go official via social media announcements and press releases.
With that out of the day, let’s take a look at these forthcoming smartphones one by one.

iPhone 14 series is expected to have a heavy demand in China. A survey carried out by reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that suppliers and retailers are paying significantly higher deposits to pre-pay for the first expected iPhone 14 units. In some regions the deposit is said to be double the amount. The information has shared by the analyst in a series of tweets.
The iPhone 14 series is expected to debut in September this year, but two months early its demand is said to be higher than the previous generation iPhone 13. Apple’s next-generation iPhone 14 lineup has also been subject to a lot of leaks and rumours. China is also an important market for Apple and the country represents a fifth of the company’s total revenue.
Kuo says that the expected surge in demand for iPhone 14 is to ensure a sufficient supply. The analyst adds that the iPhone 14 shipment forecast of component suppliers and EMS is about 100 million and 90 million units in the second half of 2022. The solid demand will likely reduce the risk of order cuts after the iPhone 14 launch.
Apple’s iPhones are becoming increasingly popular everywhere across the world. As per past leaks and rumours, the iPhone 14 series is expected to sport a major redesign since the iPhone X in 2017. This makes the higher demand for the iPhone 14 series hardly surprising. It will be interesting to see how the iPhone 14 series fares in terms of sales post launch.
The Xiaomi 12S series launch is just around the corner. The company is set to launch three models within the lineup, including the base 12S, the 12S Pro, and the 12S Ultra. We have already covered a rumor roundup for the first two models, so now, let’s have a look at the top end variant as well.
Design
Unlike the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro, the Chinese tech giant has yet to officially showcase the design of the 12S Ultra model. The company did release a recent teaser image poster that offered us a slight glimpse at the entire lineup, although, it was shrouded in a shadow and no finer details could be discerned. However, we have certain rumors to go on for its design. The flagship handset might feature a large rectangular camera island that houses multiple images sensors.
We can also expect to see the Leica branding on this module. Meanwhile, the front is likely to sport minimal bezels and a center aligned punch hole cutout like the other two 12S series models. Other smaller details will likely include options like IR blaster, Harmon Kardon audio, USB Type C port, and rear panel made from a matte glass panel.
Specifications
Initially, the brand was set to launch this model back in March and April with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. But, since the launch was delayed, the company decided to use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC instead. This chipset will likely be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. On the front, the premium grade handset is expected to sport a 6.73 inch LTPO AMOLED display that has a QHD+ resolutions, 120Hz refresh rate, and 521 ppi pixel density.
This panel will even include an optical under display fingerprint scanner as well. Other features include, Hardmon Kardon stereo speakers, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, IR blaster, and Android 12 OS based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box. Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by a large 4,800mAh battery pack that supports 67W fast wired charging, along with 50W wireless fast charging, and reverse wireless charging of 10W.
Camera
Talking about its cameras, the brand has confirmed that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra will feature the Sony IMX989 as its primary sensor. It is a large 1 inch sized sensor that has a 50 megapixel resolution and is rumored to be paired with a 48 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 48 megapixel telephoto lens that has a 5x optical zoom, while the front may house a 20 megapixel selfie shooter. Details regarding the entire camera module is still sketchy so we’ll have to wait for the launch event.
Krafton has just recorded a notable milestone from its popular mobile game BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India). The company has crossed over 100 million registered users for the title, despite the game not even being a year old.
For those unaware, the studio behind the PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) franchise had launched Battlegrounds Mobile India specifically for the Indian market following the ban of the original PUBG Mobile. It was released in the region back in July 2021 and had seen an explosive success immediately afterwards. Since then, the game has grown exponentially in popularity, with battle royale genre still being a big hit in the mobile gaming market in India.
Furthermore, this success was also backed by Krafton’s heavy investment into the region, with reports stating that the publisher had invested a massive sum of 100 million US Dollars. This figure would be used to grow the local esports for the game as well as entertainment startups to help boost the gaming and esports community in India. Thanks to this, even the professional scene for BGMI has been quite successful, with gaming organizations also forming their official roasters in the country.
Before PUBG Mobile had been banned, the title was the most successful mobile game in India. So it arrives as no surprise that Battlegrounds Mobile India also saw a such robust success. Regardless, the 100 million registered user mark is still quite impressive.
Xiaomi is all set to launch the Xiaomi 12S series next week. The lineup will consist of three models, namely Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro, and Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
The former two will be an upgraded version of Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, which were unveiled at the end of December. Whereas, the latter will be the successor of the Mi 11 Ultra from last year.
Here in this article, let’s take a look at the two cheaper models. We have compiled everything that’s known about them ahead of their official announcement.
Xiaomi 12S Series
Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro Launch Date
The Xiaomi 12S and the Xiaomi 12S Pro are scheduled to launch in China on July 4. They will be accompanied by the company’s most premium slab smartphone of 2022 – Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The firm will be also announcing the Xiaomi Book Pro 2022 and the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro at this event.
The Xiaomi 12S series launch conference will be live-streamed on multiple platforms like Weibo, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Xiaomi Community, and Mi.com. It will kickstart at 7 PM GMT+8.
Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro Design
Xiaomi has officially disclosed the design of the Xiaomi 12S Pro. The smartphone will be identical to the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Hence, the Xiaomi 12S is also expected to be a lookalike of the Xiaomi 12. The only major difference between the two lineups will be the presence of the ‘Leica’ branding on the new one.
The two phones will sport a centered punch-hole curved display on the front. The right side will house the power button and the volume rocker, while the left side will be empty.
The top part of the handsets will consist of an IR blaster, secondary microphone hole, speaker grille, and Harmon Kardon branding. Whereas, the bottom will comprise a SIM card slot, primary microphone hole, USB Type-C port, and another speaker grille.
Like any other premium smartphones, they will feature a glass sandwich design with a metal frame. The rear matte glass panel will house a rectangular island on the top left corner with one giant camera, two small cameras, an LED flashlight, and ‘Leica’ branding.
Finally, the bottom left side of the back panel will include the Xiaomi branding. The devices are expected to arrive in White and other color options.
Xiaomi 12S Pro
Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro Specifications
The Xiaomi 12S and the Xiaomi 12S Pro are said to retain the specs from Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, respectively with some minor changes.
Chipset
The new models will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Xiaomi will be also offering a variant of the Xiaomi 12S Pro with a Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chip.
Cameras
Further, the handsets have been confirmed to come with a 50MP Sony IMX707 primary camera sensor. This sensor is already present on the Xiaomi 12 Pro but the Xiaomi 12 has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. Hence, only the smaller model will be getting a camera hardware upgrade.
Xiaomi is yet to reveal the remaining two rear cameras and the front camera of these devices. But since the devices are near identical to Xiaomi 12 series, they may have the same secondary and front-facing cameras.
If this is true, then the Xiaomi 12S and the Xiaomi 12S pro will nest a 32MP selfie camera in the punch-hole on the front. The former will sport a 13MP ultra-wide camera and 5MP telemacro camera, while the latter will come with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP 2x telephoto camera.
Unlike the Xiaomi 12 series, the cameras on the Xiaomi 12S series will provide image processing co-tuned by Leica and Xiaomi.
Display
Talking about the screen, the Xiaomi 12S will likely sport a 6.28-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 1100 nits peak brightness, while the Xiaomi 12S Pro will probably flaunt a 6.73-inch QHD+ LTPO 2.0 (up to 1Hz) AMOLED display with 1500 nit peak brightness. The 10-bit panels on these phones will offer up to a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Miscellaneous
Both the handsets are expected to arrive with features like Harmon Kardon-tuned stereo speakers (dual on 12S and quad on 12S Pro), 5G connectivity, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, NFC, IR blaster, and USB Type-C port. On the software front, they will boot MIUI 13 based on Android 12.
Battery
The Xiaomi 12S is expected to get its energy from a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast wired charging. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12S Pro will likely house a larger 4,600mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. Either way, both of them will carry support for 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Variants
The Xiaomi 12S and the Xiaomi 12S Pro will arrive in 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB memory configurations. Interestingly, the Dimensity 9000 variant of Xiaomi 12S Pro will not be avaialble in 8GB + 128GB combo.
Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro Expected Price
The Xiaomi 12S series could be priced similar to the Xiaomi 12 series since the new models are merely a mid-year refresh with some minor changes. As a result, the older phones may either receive a price cut or get discontinued.
For the unaware, the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro start at ¥3,699 ($552) and ¥4,699 ($701), respectively for the base 8GB + 128GB variant in China.

Oppo is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated Reno 8 series of smartphone in India soon. But prior to its release, the company revealed an interesting addition to the upcoming smartphones, which is its new MariSilicon X NPU.
For those unaware, the Chinese smartphone maker had announced this chip back in December 2021 for its flagship Find X series. Now, this same NPU will be making its way to the Reno 8 series as well. While there were rumors that had revealed this information before, the brand has officially shared the news along with some improvements in its MariSilicon X platform. As per official notes, the 6nm MariSilicon X NPU will help bring end to end imaging solution on the Reno 8 series.
Thanks to proprietary algorithms, the company has developed a new way to better render Indian skin tones accurately and even create Bokeh Flare Portrait videos as well. Oppo’s AI can even distinguish between skin blemishes and beauty spots, while smartly applying different level of beautification and skin smoothening based on the age and sex of the subject. Its optimizations for the Indian market will also help improve HDR performance across wide exposure shots without user intervention.
Talking about the NPU itself, the company took 3 years to develop the chipset and it consisted of over 400 patent applications. It packs 3.6 billion transistors and can perform up to 18 trillion operations per second (18 TOPS). It is built on the 6nm process and is also capable of real time lossless AI processing in the Bayer RAW domain with images taken from the 50 megapixel IMX766 primary camera.

Nothing is gearing up to launch its first smartphone in the market and the company has already announced an event on the 12th of July where the device will be officially unveiled.
Ahead of the launch event, an image of the company’s new true wireless earbuds has leaked online, indicating that it could also be launched along with the Nothing Phone (1) smartphone on 12th July.
The earbuds, currently being referred to as Nothing Ear (1) Stick, appears to be a refreshed version of the original earbuds launched by the company as its first product last year. The newly refreshed version comes with a “Stick” case, hence the name.
Nothing Ear (1) Stick appears to be a minor refresh of the original TWS earbuds and doesn’t look like its successor. Although they have an identical design to the existing model, there are two differences.
The stem now has two dots at the bottom instead of one and the “Nothing Ear (1)” branding has been replaced by “Ear (1) Stick.” It is not yet known if the silicone tips have been removed, which may indicate a more affordable price point for the earphones.
Instead of the regular square-shaped transparent case, the company will be offering a slimmer case in a rectangular design but will continue to be a clear case. The company has not revealed when it plans to launch the new TWS earbuds but we are expecting an official announcement on 12th July along with the Nothing Phone (1) smartphone.
Samsung has been dominating the foldable smartphone market with the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series phones and has also managed to launch multiple generations of these phones, well ahead of the competition.
Now, the South Korean giant is reportedly planning to launch a new budget foldable smartphone which will be a part of the Galaxy A-series. While not much is known about this, its pricing details have leaked online.
As per the latest report, Samsung’s upcoming budget foldable smartphone could be priced at around 1 million won (approx. $771). However, in other markets, the device will be priced a bit higher because of the taxes but could be around $900 to $1,000.
It is also said that the company will cut corners by excluding premium features and the Galaxy A foldable lineup will only include core functionalities. It is said that the phone would not include the Ultra-Thin Glass layer found in the foldable phones of the company.
Currently, it is not known which form factor the South Korean giant goes with for the Galaxy A-series foldable device — the book-like fold found on the Galaxy Z Fold lineup or the clamshell fold found on the Galaxy Z Flip series.
The smartphone isn’t getting launched anytime soon and is speculated to go official sometime in 2024 or 2025. With new models of the foldable smartphone getting launched, the pricing is gradually decreasing and in a couple of years, it will be possible for Samsung to introduce a budget foldable smartphone in the market.
