Samsung to launch new Galaxy M smartphone model in India on July 5

Samsung is gearing up to launch a new mid range smartphone from its Galaxy M series soon. The company recently shared a teaser that revealed the upcoming device’s Indian launch, which will take place on July 5.

The new Galaxy M series smartphone in question will likely be the Galaxy M13 5G. Samsung had launched the 4G variant of the handset back in May 2022, so its 5G enabled variant should be making its way to India as well. Recent reports had also hinted at the South Korean tech giant manufacturing the Galaxy M13 5G in India and we even reported on some leaked images that showcased its rear panel design.

Now, it appears that the brand will announced this device on 5th July 2022 at 12 pm IST. Unfortunately, the official teaser on Twitter did not mention the name of the smartphone, so there is still no official word regarding the Galaxy M13 5G launching next week. From what we know so far, the device will sport a 6.5 inch LCD panel that has a FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC that will be paired with up to 5GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Oukitel WP19 Review: 21,000mAh Battery Monster

Let me ask you a question, how big do you think the current smartphone battery can be at maximum? 6000? 10,000? Would you believe me if I tell you that there is already a phone with more than 20,000mAh? That’s right, it’s not a user’s DIY phone, but a new rugged phone launched by Oukitel. Super battery life monster: WP19.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 14

We also received this monster not long ago. It doesn’t have a lot of stuff in the box. A 33w charger with a Type C port. A bunch of manuals and a pin. C to C charging cable. No case, but this phone doesn’t need a case either.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 22

When I picked up the phone, oh my god, it was really too big and heavy. The weight of over 500g and the thickness of nearly 3cm makes it impossible to operate the phone with one hand. If you just look at the back and block the camera, you might not even be able to tell it’s a phone.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 21Such a thick thickness also has the advantage that the camera doesn’t pop out, the entire back is almost flat, so thumbs up to that. And to prevent scratching of the lens, the camera module has raised corners at all four corners. It has a speaker at the bottom of the back, which is loud and not blocked by your hands. Even if you don’t like the quality of its speakers, it does have a headphone jack. It has NFC support for Google Pay and a SIM card tray that supports TF cards and two SIM cards.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 18

The whole phone is made of metal and rubber. Because it’s big and heavy. So even though it has IP68 and is drop-proof, you don’t want to drop it on the wooden floor of your house – it’s likely that the floor will get a hole in it. Whether it’s a good design or not, everyone has an opinion. But at least when you answer the phone, everyone knows you’re not to be messed with.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 15

Next up is the battery which is your main focus, the WP19 has a superb 21,000mAh battery. We’d love to do a battery drain test for you, but it’s so big we can’t really drain it, so we can only provide you with some reference information. 13.5 hours of 1080P online video consumes 27% of the battery.4 hours of PUBG consumes 15%. We got the phone with 85% power, and it hadn’t been used up by the time we finished uploading this video, which is quite a stunning battery life. There are also some official test data that you can refer to as well.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 24

We weren’t able to drain it, so we couldn’t do a charging speed test either. The good news is that the WP19 is a 33w charging power and can charge up to 80% in 3 hours. Most people who use a phone like this should plug it in before going to bed though, so as long as it can be fully charged overnight, charge speed isn’t particularly important to it.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 23

Remember the C to C charging cable that came in the box? Because the WP19 supports reverse charging, it can really act as your power bank to charge other devices. That’s why it comes with a charging cable that is a C to C not C to A, I have to say that the Oukitel is really thought this through. Of course, it doesn’t have a high reverse charging power, our USB Power Meter shows it supports 8w of PD charging. It might be difficult to be your daily use Power bank, but using the WP19 only as an emergency power supply should be no problem.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 06

Not surprisingly, the Oukitel WP19 is powered by MTK’s entry processor, the Helio G95, which is not very powerful but is very power-efficient, and the WP19’s long battery life is also a credit to the processor. I’ll write its Benchmark score on the screen so you can pause and check it out. Weak performance doesn’t mean it can’t play games at all. PUBG can runs at a steady 40fps. And the 90Hz refresh rate screen also makes you feel smoother during daily use. Yes, the waterdrop screen is otherwise no different from any other rugged phone, but the 90Hz refresh rate is kind of a major selling point for it. Another selling point is Android 12, which is at least much better looking than Android 11 in terms of UI.

OUKITEL WP19 Review 02

Photography is not a part of the rugged phone’s strength, so you can’t expect the WP19’s camera system to be very powerful. You can check the quality of the photos for yourself.

We’ve reviewed a lot of rugged phones this year, and the WP19 is one of the few rugged phones we’ve been really impressed with – it’s the first time I’ve seen a phone with such a large battery. Although I don’t need such a phone in my daily life, there are definitely some users out there who won’t be able to recharge their batteries for a long period of time. If you need a power bank that can make phone calls, this is the one you want.

Xiaomi 12S series teased with new Camera Samples

The Xiaomi 12S series launch is just around the corner and is highly anticipated at the moment. But prior to its official announcement, the company took to Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website) to share new camera samples to tease the upcoming smartphones.

As per the social media post, the Chinese tech giant shared sample shots that were taken by various professional photographers from across the globe. The company aimed on highlighting the Xiaomi x Leica collaboration through the eyes of these professionals as well as their reviews regarding the 12S series camera performance. Looking at these images, we can see shots of various scenes even in different lighting conditions to better highlight the camera’s capabilities.

Back in May 2022, we had reported on the Xiaomi CEO speaking about the Leica partnership. Lei Jun stated that the cooperation between both firms would bring improvement in camera performance in low light, especially with the new Night Mode in next gen flagship smartphones. So now, it appears that the 12S series will be the first to benefit from this as we can see some crisp camera samples in low light taken with the new smartphones.

The brand also highlighted the cameras through various action shots as well, with the subject being in motion. All in all, these camera samples are quite impressive and adds to the hype for the new handsets. The Xiaomi 12S series is set to launch on July 4, so stick around for more as we will be covering the launch event next month.

The firm hasn’t revealed the features of the fitness tracker as of yet. But it has disclosed the product’s entire design via a short video.

As per the video, the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro will be the first Mi Band (Xiaomi Band) with a large rectangular display. Unlike the Redmi Band Pro, which has a similar design, this one looks more premium.

Unfortunately, we don’t have anything more to say about this fitness tracker at the moment. But if the rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro could be a rebranded version of the recently leaked mysterious Amazfit Band.

In that case, the wearable may arrive with features like a screen sporting a resolution of 194 x 368 pixels, GPS, NFC, and a 232mAh battery. As far as price is concerned, it may retail at around ¥499 since the Xiaomi Band 7 NFC costs ¥299.

Global Smartphone Market Continues to Bleed, Sales Fell Below 100m Units

The Global Smartphone Market sales continue to suffer. The sales dropped 4% Month on Month (MoM) and 10% Year on Year (YoY) in May 2022 according to a report. May was the second consecutive month of MoM decline and the 11th consecutive month of YoY decline in sales. The decline is caused due to various factors but inflation, China’s slowdown, and the Ukraine crisis are said to be the prime culprit.

Global Smartphone shipments dropped to 96 million units in May 2022, according to the latest report by market research firm Counterpoint. This is the first time since the first and second quarters of the pandemic hit 2020 that monthly smartphone sales have been below 100 million.

The continued decline is caused due to various factors including but not limited to inflation, China’s lowdown, and the Ukraine crisis. Inflation is causing consumers to stick to their phones and avoid unnecessary purchases.

“The demand for a smartphone especially in the advanced economies is driven by replacement, which makes it a discretionary purchase. And inflationary pressures are leading to pessimistic consumer sentiment around the globe with people postponing non-essential purchases, including smartphones,” said research director Tarun Pathak. “The strengthening US dollar is also hurting emerging economies. A segment of consumers is likely to wait for seasonal promotions before purchasing to offset some of the cost pressures,” Pathak added.

The smartphone market is also severely affected by the lockdown in China and Ukraine crisis. China’s lockdown has been hurting domestic demand and hampering the global supply chain. The Ukraine war has caused the demand to decline in Eastern Europe, says the report.

According to the Counterpoint macro index, the Global smartphone will likely continue bleeding throughout the summer. However, the market is expected to bounce back during H2, mainly due to an improved situation in China and an improvement in the supply-demand balance in the tech supply chain.
