Chinese smartphone maker realme launched the realme C25 in late March. Two months later, the brand has now released a new version of this handset called realme C25s. This device has a different chipset and camera setup.

realme C25s Specifications and Features

The realme C25s features the same design and plastic build as the original realme C25. It sports a 6.5-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels (HD+), 570 nits peak brightness, 88.7% screen-to-body ratio, and a dewdrop notch.

The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC instead of Helio G70. This chipset is coupled with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB storage.

The device houses a triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 48MP primary shooter, a 2MP monochrome sensor, and a 2MP macro shooter. For comparison, the realme C25 has a 2MP depth sensor instead of monochrome and a 13MP primary sensor on the Indian model. Anyway, the 8MP selfie camera remains the same.

On the connectivity front, the handset supports dual-SIM, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GNSS (GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou). It includes all the essential sensors and ports like an accelerometer, proximity sensor, compass, ambient light sensor, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

As for software, the realme C25s runs realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. It is backed by a 6,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Last but not least, the smartphone comes in two colors (Water Blue, Water Grey), measures 164.5 x 75.9 x 9.6mm in dimensions, and weighs 209g.

Microsoft has launched the Surface Laptop 4 in India. The new notebooks have arrived in two screen options such as 13.5-inch and 15-inch. Both models carry support for a 3:2 aspect ratio. These notebooks are powered by AMD Ryzen 5 / Ryzen 7 and 11^th generation Intel Core i5 / i7 processors.

The Surface Laptop 4 has a 3:2 PixelSense touchscreen display. It offers up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage. The notebook runs on Windows 10 and comes with support Window Hello face recognition.

The notebook has a decent keyboard, which is flanked with a large-sized trackpad with gestures support. Sony WF-1000XM4 to feature improved ANC, LDAC, and better battery life: Leak

A new leak has revealed certain interesting details regarding the upcoming Sony WF-1000XM4 true wireless earbuds. The device will reportedly arrive with an improved active noise cancellation (ANC) along with other notable features as well.

According to a WinFuture report (Via GSMArena), the new hearables will sport better noise cancellation, which has a feature that was present in the previous model as well. Although, the new XM4 version will improve this feature through the company’s “Sony V1” custom chip. Similarly, the leak adds that the wireless earphones will also add support for high quality wireless audio transmitted through LDAC and will also be certified for Hi Res Audio as well.

The report states that the Japanese tech giant will even improve the battery life of the WF-1000XM4 TWS earbuds. As per the report, the earbuds alone would offer up to 8 hours of music playback with ANC on, which is up from 6 hours from the previous model. With the charging case, these earbuds can be recharged twice, allowing for a total of 24 hours of playback. Turning ANC off would bump the battery life to 12 hours through the buds and 36 hours with the case.

Another notable feature is the addition of Qi wireless charging on the charging case for the earbuds in addition to the USB Type C charging port. This also implies that users can charge the earbuds through reverse wireless charging as well. The leak claims that the earbuds will arrive with a price tag of 280 Euros (roughly 350 US Dollars). Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.

The latest global handset to receive MIUI 12.5 update is Mi 11X, which is sold in India. The update arrives with build number V12.5.1.0.RKHINXM. The software builds is in the ‘Stable Beta’ phase, and therefore, it is only available for a select few users as of now.

Anyway, all users should get the update in the coming days if early adopters don’t face any major issues. The original version of this smartphone, the Redmi K40, received the update in late April in China. On the other hand, the POCO F3, which is yet another clone of this phone is yet to receive the update in any region.

Global Smartphone market growth in 2021 to reach highest levels since 2015: IDC

The global smartphone market in this year is expected to record its highest levels of growth since 2015. Shipments are projected to reach 1.38 billion units this year, marking a rise of 7.7 percent over last year.

According to an IDC report, the positive trend is expected to continue forward into the next year as well, with an expected year on year growth of 3.8 percent. The projected shipments for this period are said to be a total of 1.43 billion units. The report adds that this arrives as the world shifts towards 5G networking and 5G enabled handsets, while also retaining strong demand for low end and mid range 4G smartphones following last year’s pandemic that led to a decline in sales.

As per Anthony Scarsella, research manager with IDC, “2021 will represent the largest year-over-year growth the market has witnessed since 2015, as the shift towards 5G across all price tiers continues to accelerate. The 5G shift will also deliver peak smartphone ASPs in 2021 ($376, up 9.7% year over year) when compared to the remainder of the forecast period as costly 5G devices continue to replace LTE devices, which are also starting to drop in price, down 27% in 2021.”

Similarly, Ryan Reith, program vice president at IDC, added that “Smartphones are seeing competition for consumer spending from adjacent markets like PCs, tablets, TVs, and smart home devices, yet that hasn’t slowed the market’s path to recovery. The smartphone market returned to growth during the holiday quarter last year and since then we’ve only seen production from top suppliers ramp up. There continues to be a strong supply-side push toward 5G, and price points continue to drop as a result.”

Apple faces another antitrust suit over its Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is at the center of another lawsuit as the company is facing another antitrust charge over its ECG system that it has allegedly “copied”, as per a medical firm AliveCor.

According to an AppleInsider report, the mobile medical company AliveCor has previously filed a patent infringement suit against the Cupertino based giant in Texas, US. The firm has also asked the US International Trade Commission to ban sales of the iPhone maker’s smartwatch. Now, AliveCor is also requesting a trial by jury over patent issues and has filed a lawsuit in the Northern District of California.

As per the filing, AliveCor is claiming that the smartphone manufacturer initially supported the development of an electrocardiogram wristband, the Kardiaband. The lawsuit states that “Apple not only initially approved AliveCor’s apps but also advertised AliveCor’s innovations to sell more Apple Watches. AliveCor informed Apple about [it gaining] FDA clearance and that it intended to begin selling KardiaBands shortly along with its previously-approved Kardia and SmartRhythm apps.”

The filing adds that “Apple had finally realized heart health analysis was incredibly valuable to (and desired by) smartwatch users, and thus had been working in the background to copy AliveCor’s ideas, including both the ability to record an ECG on the Apple Watch, as well as to provide a separate app for heartrate analysis.” Unfortunately, the smartphone brand has yet to comment on the new filing.

Samsung is reported to launch the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, and Galaxy S21 FE at a Galaxy Unpacked event in late July or early August. At this conference, the company is also expected to announce the Galaxy Buds2. These wireless earbuds have been now certified by FCC.

We have been hearing about the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 since last month. Some of its features have been already revealed via leaks. Now, thanks to FCC (via @simransingh931), we finally get to see the live images of these upcoming truly wireless earphones.

The pictures show the product in a black colorway. However, the earbuds are expected to arrive in three more colors, namely white, purple, and green.

As far as design is concerned, just like the first-ever report stated, the Galaxy Buds2 (SM-R177) will be identical to the Galaxy Buds+. But the charging case will be similar to the newer Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy Buds Live.

Lastly, as per FCC, the buds will come with a 120mAh battery each, whereas the charging case will house a 500mAh battery.

According to previous reports, the Galaxy Buds2 codenamed ‘berry’ will not feature ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). These earbuds are said to compete with other sub-$100 truly wireless earphones in the market.

A new Realme phone with model number RMX3261 has received approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. Before arriving at the FCC, the handset was also spotted at other certification sites such as Indonesia’s TKDN, Indonesia Telecom, and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The FCC appearance has revealed the design and key features of the mysterious Realme phone.

The schematic of the phone reveals that it features a waterdrop notch display on the front. The back panel of the device features a squarish camera module that houses three cameras and an LED flash.

A fingerprint scanner is also available on the backside of the device. The right edge of the phone features a volume rocker and a power key. Its left edge has a SIM compartment that features two nano-SIM slots and a microSD card slot.

The FCC listing further revealed that the device measures 173.9 x 75.96mm. The device is loaded with Realme Ui 2.0 based Android 11 OS. The handset supports connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS. Lastly, the listing states that it houses a 4,880mAh rated battery.

In related news, a new leak has claimed that the Realme C25s may go official in India in June. The handset is expected to arrive in choices like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. This device, which has already launched in Malaysia offers users a 6.5-inch HD+ screen, Helio G85 chipset, an 8-megapixel front camera, 48-megapixel triple cameras, and a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

Huawei trademarks “Luban”, could be a new product line

A new trademark application has just surfaced that has Huawei register the name “Luban.” The company applied for the trademark application back on 21st May 2021 and is classified under 9 scientific instruments in the international classification.

According to an ITHome report, the Chinese tech giant had previously successfully registered the “Huawei Luban” trademark back in 19th December 2020. For those unaware, Luban is associated with a historical figure Lu Ban who has been called the originator of Chinese architecture and is even known as an engineer, inventor, and carpenter as well. In other words, the trademark application holds a symbolic reference to important Chinese culture.

Unfortunately, it is unknown in which product line the Luban trademark will be used. Earlier this year, the company had launched the Nova 8 Pro King of Glory Edition. This special variant of the device features an interesting design and a different UI theme. The rear of the smartphone sports a purple color scheme and is engraved with the Luban character on top. Apart from the design, the internal of the device were still the same as the base variant.

So, we could expect the brand to launch a special variant of an existing model, but the trademark implies that Huawei could be working on a standalore lineup that would feature a distinct design. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ has a 6.76-inch OLED panel with curved edges that delivers a resolution of 2772 x 1344 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The pill-shaped cutout on the screen houses a 13-megapixel primary selfie camera and a 3D ToF sensor.

The back panel of the device features a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 20-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto snapper, an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with OIS support, and a 3D ToF sensor. It runs on Android 11 OS, and ships without Google Mobile Services (GMS).

The Kirin 9000 drives the Mate 40 Pro+ and it is backed by a 4,400mAh battery. The phone carries support for 66W fast charging. For security, it features an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
