Chinese innovative company Xiaomi Monday announced a new product which is dubbed the MIJIA Bedside Lamp 2. The light brings a colourful ambient atmosphere to the bedroom environment and is a successor to the MIJIA bedside lamp 1. This also indicates that the product is an IoT gadget. Let’s take a quick look at some of the features.
The MIJIA Bedside Lamp 2 comes with a cheap price tag of 169 yuan ($24) which is quite attractive. Apart from the affordable pricing, the bedside lamp equally comes with an impressive design and features. Perhaps. the most outstanding one is that it can be connected to the MIJIA app as well as Apple HomeKit from where it can be controlled. In addition, users can also control the light using voice prompt via the Xiaoai speaker and Yeelight voice assistant. Since it supports Apple Homekit, it can also be controlled via an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and even via the “Family” app or Siri smart assistant on the Mac. The bedside lamp has a maximum brightness of 400 Lumens which means it can be used as the main light in the house at night and during the day. The brightness can equally be regulated to as low as below 2 Lumens.
The MIJIA Bedside Lamp 2 brings onboard an improved performance compared to the MIJIA Bedside Lamp 1. The product will be available on Xiaomi Mall, as well as Tmall at 0:00 on December 12 for the 12.12 flash sale and as stated earlier, it costs just 169 yuan ($24). We can’t say when the product will be available to buy outside China.
Huawei‘s sub-brand, Honor, was founded in 2013 and in a few weeks, the brand will celebrate its fifth anniversary. The brand which started as an online-only brand has now grown to become a household name in the mobile industry. To mark this growth, Honor unveiled a new logo at its HonorArtology event today and claims that it has grown up.
The new Honor logo switches to uppercase and has gradient colors.
The biggest change in the new logo is the switch from lowercase alphabets to uppercase alphabets. Also, the logo has ditched its silver chrome appearance for a gradient color which it says its a way to show it is still a brand for the younger generation.
The Honor logo should start appearing on phones and other products next year but we won’t be surprised if they start with the Honor V20 and View20 set to launch later this month and in January respectively. Nevertheless, Honor has switched to the new logo on its social media accounts and official website.
In the past weeks, several leaks have revealed the images and specifications of the rumored Google Pixel 3 Lite smartphone. While Google is yet to confirm on its existence, popular tipster @OnLeaks has shared renders of the larger Pixel 3 XL Lite smartphone to reveal that it may also get unveiled alongside the Pixel 3 XL. The tipster has shared 360-degree renders video of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite smartphones.
The renders of the Google Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite reveal that both phones are equipped notch-less screen. Also, they have dual-tone rear panels made out of what seems to be polycarbonate material.
Both phones feature thick-sized bezels around the display. These phones lack stereo speakers. The earpiece present at the top bezel can also function as a speaker. There is a single selfie camera on the Lite editions of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. However, their regular versions have dual selfie shooters. The upcoming Pixel phones feature 3.5mm audio jack which has been excluded from their flagship versions.
The edges of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite feature volume rocker, power, SIM Tray, USB-C port, speaker grilles and 3.5mm headphone jack. The rear cameras on both phones are protruded. A fingerprint scanner and the company’s logo can be found on the backside of both devices. Both phones are expected to be available in black and white renders. The white models will be equipped with neon green colored power button.
The tipster has revealed that the Pixel 3 Lite measures 151.3 x 70.1 and it houses a 5.5-inch screen whereas the Pixel 3 XL Lite measures 160 x 76.1mm and 6-inch screen. Both phones have a thickness of 8.2mm and the portion where there is camera bump, their thickness increases to 9mm. Both phones carry support for full HD+ resolution along with a tall aspect ratio of 18.5:9.
Previous reports have revealed that the Google Pixel 3 Lite will be driven by Snapdragon 670 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It will be fueled by 2,915mAh battery. It will be featuring a rear camera of 12-megapixel and a frontal shooter of 8-megapixel. It is likely to come equipped with 32 GB of storage. It goes without saying that it will have Android 9 Pie preinstalled. The Pixel 3 XL Lite may house a larger battery, a bigger internal storage and a better chipset of Snapdragon 710. Res of its specs could be same as Pixel 3 Lite. There is no information available on their launch date and pricing.
Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy A8s, its first smartphone with a punch hole inside the display. Thanks to this solution, Samsung managed to realize a full borderless design without a notch. The company decided to include an in-display hole in an upper midrange phone, a perfect competitor of devices such as Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and Oppo R17 Pro (or RX17 Pro for the European market). Given that these wonderful handsets share a similar price tag, here is a comparison between them.

Design
Given its cutout in the display, Samsung Galaxy A8s has the most futuristic design as it does not need a notch in order to achieve one of the highest screen-to-body ratios (almost 85 percent). But note that it does not integrate an in-display fingerprint reader and it is rear-mounted, so the rear side of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro looks cleaner and more beautiful, also thanks to its gradient colors. But it has a too big notch (unlike Oppo R17 Pro) because it integrates a 3D facial recognition system based on an infrared sensor. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy A8s is the thinnest and most lightweight device.
Display
Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has the most awesome display because it boasts a better color reproduction. Not only it comes with the Super AMOLED technology, but also with DCI-P3 coverage, and it is HDR10 compliant. At the second place, there is Oppo R17 Pro with its AMOLED screen that is also protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6. Samsung Galaxy A8s is the only phone from the Galaxy A-series to feature an IPS display manufactured by BOE instead of a Samsung’s AMOLED panel, and it is a classic midrange display which offers nothing impressive.
Specs & Software
Talking about hardware and performance, there is no challenge, Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is the winner. It boasts the most impressive hardware side thanks to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The rest of the trio is powered by the Snapdragon 710, a very nice chipset, the best Qualcomm’s SoC if we exclude the whole 800 series. But it remains a midrange-class SoC. Between Samsung Galaxy A8s and Oppo R17 Pro, when it comes to hardware and software, I would pick Samsung Galaxy A8s because it comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box.
Camera
Even though they are not among the most expensive phones, all of these devices feature impressive cameras. Oppo R17 Pro is even very innovative because it has a triple camera with a variable aperture in order to adapt better to every light condition. In order to establish which is the best camera phone, we have to test Galaxy A8s personally but this is still not possible because it has just been announced. On the paper, Oppo R17 Pro seems the most satisfying one.
Battery
Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has a much smaller and just sufficient battery with its 3000 mAh capacity, so it is excluded from this comparison. Oppo R17 Pro has the biggest one and, even if we still did not test Samsung Galaxy A8s, we believe this may be the most satisfying devices when it comes to battery, not only for the time it lasts (a working day even with intensive uses), but also because it is the world’s fastest charging last-gen smartphone.
Price
We still do not know the listing price of Samsung Galaxy A8s, but we will know it soon because it will be launched soon (more info at the link below). Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and Oppo R17 Pro are available with starting price tags of about €500 and €600. Oppo R17 Pro looks the most convincing device and I would personally pick it because of its good display, big and fast-charging battery, and its excellent cameras. I would not choose Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro because of its smaller battery.
Xiaomi has a new product and it wants you to get excited about it. The new product was teased on Weibo by Xiaomi’s co-founder Wang Chuan.
Mr. Chuan shared a teaser image for the device which he said has been in development for a year. The image shows an object which looks like a shower head or the receiver part of a telephone. The official Xiaomi TV Weibo account reshared the post which led people to assume it is related to the TV.
This is just speculation as the account may only just be publicizing the new product which seems to be a special project developed by Wang Chuan who once headed the TV department of Xiaomi.
There is no teaser poster for a launch yet, so we can’t get more clues to identify the product but it is not a shower according to the official MIUI Weibo account. However, it does seem to be an amazing product judging from the comment of one of Xiaomi’s spokesman who seems to have used the product.

Meizu’s CEO Huang Zhang (Jack Wong) has always been very opinionated when it comes to smartphone designs, especially dissing the present trending styles of notch screen, waterdrop and even the in-hole design. The company’s founder has instead insisted the symmetrical design which involves just trimming the bezels with space wide enough to accommodate the selfie camera. That seems to be the design the upcoming Meizu 16s will feature.
A fan recently posted a fan-made render of the Meizu 16s on the Meizu community forum and the render caught the attention of the CEO who indeed confirmed the Meizu 16s design is not very much different from the render. Huang Zhang then threw more light on the efforts the company will make to further trim the bezels on the chin and top aspect of the display. Among other things, he hinted that most phones come with left and right border sizes of 3.5mm. This is smaller than the iPhone X’s which is over 4mm while the chin is 4.7mm. Mot phones have a chin size of more than 6mm as this is the aspect where the antenna is located and also to enable the screen to be fixed firmly to the frame of the phone. However, the Meizu 16s chin may also be over 5.Xmm since the antenna will run through that part for better reception. However, the CEO hinted that the company may decide to extend the antenna to the left and right border which may make them wider. However, Huang Zhang isn’t really up for that design but to make the bezels on the chin the narrowest and then make the upper bezels close to the width of the chin.
According to earlier details, the Meizu 16s series will be among the first set of models that will use a Snapdragon 855 chipset and the price will certainly be higher than the current models.
Few hours ago, Honor introduced the Honor V20 flagship phone with in-screen camera display. Its parent fir will be launching Huawei Nova 4 smartphone on Dec. 17 with the same display design. A week ahead of its launch, the Nova 4 has appeared on TENAA with its images to reveal its appearance from all directions. Moreover, the Chinese manufacturer has also released a teaser video of the smartphone.
The Huawei Nova 4 TENAA images reveals the smartphone will be featuring a small hole for the front-facing camera on the top-left corner of its display. The display is surrounded by super-slim bezels on three sides expect for the bottom one which is a slightly thick.
The back panel of the Nova 4 features a Huawei P20 Pro like triple camera setup without Leica branding. A fingerprint is also placed on the glass rear of the smartphone. What follows is an official teaser video of the Nova 4 which again showcases the front design of the smartphone.
CNet has also shared some exclusive (shown below) images of the Huawei Nova 4. All the images suggest that the smartphone will indeed offer a very high screen-to-body ratio.
The TENAA listings of VCE-AL00 and VCE-TL00 model numbers that belong to Huawei Nova 4 only contain few details on its specs. The handset features a 6.41-inch display and it is fueled by 3,900mAh battery. The dimensions of the handset are 157.57 x 74.85 x 8.2mm.
There is no confirmation on whether the Kirin 980 chipset or Kirin 710 SoC. Probably, the company may settle for Kirin 710 for the smartphone. The handset may come with up to 6 GB of RAM and an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. It will be loaded with Android 9 Pie OS flavored EMIU 9.0 skin. Through the 3C listing of the Nova 4, it has been revealed that its 3,900mAh battery will carry support for 18W rapid technology. It seems Samsung has played a lot with present series of smartphones, and now their new naming scheme has appeared in the UK. As per our folks at Sammobile, they have found some paperwork for trademarks of Rize10, Rize20, and Rize30 filed by the Korean giant. Well, no other details have been revealed with the filing documents, but it made us not to ignore similarities of Samsung’s naming scheme.
Additionally, Samsung is preparing to launch several other devices in the coming time under Galaxy A series. Even, they are launching M series very soon which will carry smartphones with the naming scheme of Galaxy M10 and M20. Overall, various devices are coming from the Korean giant, but it is unclear which would bear Rize series name.
Perhaps, judging by the numbers, we can expect some more models like Rize 50, Rize 60 and Rize 700 in coming times. As far as of now, only three new names have been filed for trademarks.
Samsung is now look9ing to expand its brochure of smartphones across the globe. This new trademark filing might be a step to attain the goal of expansion. Samsung already has plenty of devices in the mid-range market under the Galaxy A, Galaxy Z, and new Galaxy M series while Galaxy S and Note series are the flagship devices of the Korean giant.
As of now, these names can’t be related to just devices, and these can be something else also. Currently, it’s not clear whether these names will be used to denote which devices or when they will come for the public. Let’s wait and watch for the next some weeks or months.
We will let you know about any advancement about it in the coming time.

At the HonorArtology event today, Chinese smartphone maker, Honor, unveiled a new technology called LINK TURBO for improved connectivity.
There are times when your Wi-Fi network may be slow and you are streaming a movie or playing an online game. Link Turbo can automatically detect this and switch to 4G without you noticing. It can also combine both 4G and Wi-Fi for a more reliable experience. Link Turbo uses on-device AI to analyze a user’s usage experience and also network conditions to switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi and 4G networks.
In a video demonstrating how the feature works using the Honor Magic 2, we even see Link Turbo combining 4G and Wi-Fi for an active application while a secondary application (a downloader app) use only Wi-Fi.
