The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 was announced about a month ago. When it launched, it was announced in three colors – Black Stone, Dream Gold, and Deep Sea Blue. However, only the first two colors have been available for purchase.

The Mi Max 3 comes with a 6.9-inch 2160 x 1080 display. Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio and smaller bezels, the device is not as wide as the Mi Max 2 which makes it easier to hold with one hand. There is a Snapdragon 636 processor under the hood paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The phone also gets the dual rear camera treatment; packing a 12MP sensor along with a secondary 5MP sensor. The front-facing camera is an 8MP sensor. There are tons of AI-based features including scene detection and AI portrait mode.

10.or, the smartphone brand that sells its devices exclusively on Amazon India, has been teasing a new smartphone launch since past few days on social media. Today, the company has officially announced 10.or D2, which is the successor of the 10.or D launched last year.

Compared to its predecessor, the 10.or D2 comes with upgraded specifications. The phone sports a 5.45-inch HD+ display with 1440 x 720 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz.

It uses the same chipset that powers Xiaomi Redmi 5A and Motorola’s Moto E5, among others. The 10.or D2 comes in two variants — one with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage while the other variant packs 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.

The camera configuration of the phone remains the same as its predecessor. It boasts a 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 camera sensor on the back with phase detection autofocus, 5-element lens, and f/2.0 aperture. On the front side, it has a 5-megapixel sensor with 4-element lens and f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options on the device include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, as well as GPS, aGPS, and GLONASS. The phone, which comes with IPX2 water protection, is running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box and is fulled by a 3,200mAh battery that claims 20 days of standby time.

Huawei and its sub-brand Honor smartphones usually feature its homegrown Kirin chipsets. There are very few Huawei phones that are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. This year Honor has already released Snapdragon 430 powered Honor 7A smartphone and Honor 7C phone with Snapdragon 450. The Master Lu listing of the upcoming Honor 8X reveals it will be the next Snapdragon SoC powered phone from the company. It was speculated that the Honor 8X may feature the new Kirin 710 SoC by Huawei. However, the Master Lu benchmarks have revealed Honor 8X is fueled by Snapdragon 660.

TENAA has recently certified an Honor phone that has a model number of ARE-AL00. This smartphone is expected to go official as Honor 8X. The same model has surfaced on Chinese benchmarking platform named Master Lu. The Snapdragon 660 powered Honor 8X has recorded a benchmarking score of 123,919.

The Snapdragon 660 mobile platform is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. The handset is equipped with 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. For shooting selfies, it is fitted with a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. Master Lu listing of Honor 8X has no information on the size of its display, but it has confirmed that it carries support for Full HD+ resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels. The TENAA images of the Honor 8X have confirmed that it features a round-shaped notched screen. Also, the TENAA listing of the phone has revealed with a huge screen of 7.12 inches. The fresh images of the smartphone that surfaced few hours ago have confirmed that it will be indeed coming with a massive screen.

The other features of the Honor 8X include 4,900mAh battery with 18W fast charging, Android 8.1 Oreo OS and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. A recently released teaser of the phone suggest that it would be also packed with features like liquid cooling, CPU Turbo and GPU Turbo. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the launch date of the smartphone.

Nokia 7 Plus confirmed to get Android 9.0 Pie update in September

Recently, HMD Global had announced that all the Nokia smartphones will eventually be updated to the latest Android 9.0 Pie. Now, the company has confirmed that the update will first be seeded to the Nokia 7 Plus.

At a Nokia 6.1 Plus launch event in New Delhi, India, the company’s CEO suggested that the Android Pie update for the Nokia 7 Plus will be rolled out in September this year but also added that the timeframe may differ based on the region.

We are expecting that after the Nokia 7 Plus, the update will be rolled out to Nokia 8 Sirocco and the newly launched Nokia 6.1 Plus. Later on, the update will be rolled out to every other Nokia smartphone, given that all the recently launched phones from HMD Global are part of Google‘s Android One program.

The Android 9.0 Pie, which was available in beta phase since March this year, comes with a number of improvements, including new personalization features, battery-saving optimizations, and tools that help tracking time users spend on the phone.

In the previous week, a person traveling on a Toronto streetcar was spotted with the upcoming Google Pixel 3 XL smartphone. Fresh photos that seems to show the same person holding the Pixel 3 XL smartphone have surfaced once again.

The image that shows the front view of the Pixel 3 XL can be seen having a conversation through WhatsApp. The bright interface of the app does well to reveal the design of the Pixel 3 XL’s display. The handset features a bigger notch as it houses multiple components such as dual selfie cameras, a speaker and some sensors.

The exact size of the chin of the Pixel 3 XL cannot be determined through the image because of the thick navigator bar. However, instead of on-screen keys, the handset is expected to support gesture-based navigation. The bottom bezel of the phone is expected to feature another speaker.

The other image shows the dual-tone rear panel of the Pixel 3 XL. The upper part of the back seems to be made out of glass with a glossy finish whereas its remaining portion seems to feature a frosted coating. The upper glass portion is fitted with a single camera along with its LED flash.

The Pixel 3 XL is expected to feature 6.7-inch OLED screen. The Snapdragon 845 SoC along with 4 GB of RAM is expected to power the handset. It is likely to receive power from 3,430mAh battery. The Pixel 3 XL along with the smaller Pixel 3 are expected to debut as the first smartphones with Android 9 Pie OS. For photography, the handset is rumored to feature a rear camera of 12-megapixel and the dual camera setup at the front may include an 8-megapixel sensor.

Rumors have it that Google may unleash the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones on Oct. 4 and it make them available in the market after a month after its announcement. Vivo X23 teaser confirms 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version

Vivo has been sending out a couple of teasers for the upcoming X23 smartphone which should drop any moment from now. The latest teaser which is quite revealing is that the smartphone will be equipped with an 8GB RAM variant. The 8GB RAM variant will have a huge 128GB of internal storage.

The 8GB RAM variant is gradually becoming a trend, especially among flagship models, but we have also seen it on some mid-range phones. The 8GB DDR4LX flash memory is just enough to meet the needs of users including heavy gamers. The Vivo X23 is expected to succeed the X21 which was launched earlier this year and so, is positioned as a premium mid-ranger. The device is expected to be different from its predecessor in many aspects, including the screen which has been spotted with a valley-style notch and with a screen ratio of up to 91.2%. The device is also expected to come with the on-screen fingerprint technology. A recent teaser by Vivo revealed the presence of a Red/violet gradient colour scheme on one of the models. Honor 8X leaked photos appear to reveal massive front

The Honor ARE-AL00 smartphone that was recently certified by China’s TENAA authority. It had revealed that the smartphone would be equipped with a small round-shaped notch on its massive screen of 7.12 inches. A leakster from China has shared fresh photos of the alleged Honor 8X. The new photos to show an unidentified person traveling in a vehicle using the said smartphone.

In the newly spotted photos, a person can be seen holding a massive smartphone which features a round-shaped notch that houses a selfie camera. The TENAA images of the Honor 8X have the same design. Hence, it appears that smartphone that has surfaced in the new photos could be the Honor 8X. The new photos suggest that the company could be testing the real-world usage of the smartphone.

The bottom bezel of the Honor 8X appears a bit thick and it features “honor” branding. Its side bezels are quite thin. Hence, the smartphone is expected to boast a very high screen-to-body ratio on its huge screen. The rear side of the phone is not clearly visible, but the blurry image does seem it show a top-left vertical dual camera and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.

As far as specifications of the Honor 8X will be equipped with 7.12-inch display that will carry support for Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It is fueled by an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.8 GHz which suggests that it may not feature Kirin 710 SoC. Rather, it may sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. The massive 4,900mAh battery of the smartphone is expected to carry support for 18W fast charging.

The SoC of the phone will be accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. It will be featuring an internal storage of 64 GB. The phone will come preloaded with the latest EMUI based Android 8.1 Oreo. The 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup will be residing on the rear side of the phone. An 8-megapixel camera will be placed in the notch of the smartphone.

The specifications of the Honor 8X suggests that it will be arriving as a true rival for the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 that is equipped with 6.99-inch FHD+ screen and 5,500mAh battery. Huawei Mate 20 live shot reveals unique rear design

The triple camera system of the Huawei P20 Pro that was unveiled earlier this year had astonished the smartphone industry. Huawei has promised that the upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be arriving improved specs than their predecessor models. Recently leaked renders of the Mate 20 had revealed that it will be arriving with unique rear camera module. A prototype of the same phone has appeared to reveal the distinctive camera design.

The above render that was shared by XDA Developers had revealed that the Mate 20 is fitted with square-shaped camera module that includes triple cameras and LED flash. The publication had claimed that since the engineering sample device that it had received was protected, it could not determine the shape of the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner of the Mate 20. Hence, it was not included in the render.

What’s shown below is a new image of the prototype of Mate 20 in which the shape of the fingerprint scanner is clearly visible. It sports the same square-shaped rear camera system. The handset is speculated to be fitted with a glass panel on its rear. However, the glass back is not visible in the leaked photo since it is placed inside a protective case.

Rumors have it that the Mate 20 will be equipped with a regular fingerprint scanner on the rear whereas the advanced Mate 20 Pro could be arriving with an in-display fingerprint scanner. As far as the frontside of the Mate 20 is concerned, the render released by aforementioned publication has revealed that it will be sporting an Essential Phone-like notch. New update brings night mode to the Mi Band 3

Xiaomi’s latest smart bracelet, the Mi Band 3 has received a new update. The new update brings a new feature called night mode to the Mi Band 3.

The new feature comes bundled with the latest update for the Mi Fit app. According to to the description, the Mi Band 3’s brightness adjusts automatically after sunrise and sunset. Users will also be able to set the time manually if they want. Think of it like the night-mode feature on your smartphone and you should understand the way it works.

The night mode feature was first mentioned last month in an official Weibo post and has begun to roll out to users across the globe. With night mode now available, owners should find it more comfortable to look at the band’s display in dark rooms or when they wake up without having the display’s light sting them in the eyes.

Huawei launching EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie at IFA 2018, Updates to start in September

Android Pie has been made official just a couple of weeks ago and it is only available on smartphones from the Google Pixel line-up and the Essential Phone PH-1. But Huawei will soon bring the new major version of the operating system on its devices. According to a company’s official, the new custom user interface EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie will be officially announced at IFA 2018 in Berlin, one of the most important hi-tech related trade shows of the year which will take place on August 31.

The company has also confirmed that the first updates to the new version will start to roll out right after the announcement. We don’t know if the company will start updating its handset from the day after, but surely the update will start coming in September. If so, Huawei will be among the first companies to update its main handsets to Android Pie. The first smartphones to receive the update will be the ones from the Huawei P20 series. Together with them, the Mate 10 series (including the RS Porsche Design edition) will receive the update notification as well, but it is not said that it will roll out at the same time.

It is speculated that the Mate 9 series may join too. There is no official confirmation regarding all the other devices from the Chinese company. But we presume that some of the most important flagships from the Honor sub-brand will be updated as well, such as Honor 10 and V10. Just to remind you, it has been previously confirmed that the company is working on testing the update even for these two devices. EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie will surely bring several improvements, just like every major Android version. Among these ones, there will surely be a better battery management.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 detailed teardown gives a glimpse of its internal components

A few days ago, we showed you the first teardown of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which revealed that the phone features a liquid cooling system just like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Now, a way more detailed teardown courtesy of TechInsights is showing us the most important single components of the new Korean flagship one by one. The model that you can see in the photos is the U.S. variant of the device carried by AT&T with Snapdragon 845 chipset inside. In Europe, there is another variant with Exynos 9810, so the processor is not the same on each variant.

There are several components that you can see in the photos below. The teardown has revealed the presence of an LPDDR4X SDRAM module Samsung K3UH6H60AM-AGCJ (6 GB of RAM) in a PoP (package-on-package). Inside the phone, as you can see, there is also a Samsung KLUDG4U1EA-B0C1 internal storage with a capacity of 128 GB eUFS 2.1. There is an NFC 80T17 controller made by NXP and a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module Murata KM8509176. We can also see a Maxim MAX98512 audio amplifier, a Broadcom AFEM-9096 LTE module and the WDC9341 audio codec by Qualcomm.

All the camera sensors have been separated from the rest of the phones, highlighting a rear dual camera with 12 MP resolutions, OIS and variable apertures (it is possible to use f/1.5 and f/2.4), as well as an 8 MP front camera with f/1.7 aperture. A dual SIM tray is placed on the upper side of the phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 exists in both a single SIM and a dual SIM variant. The dual SIM one has a hybrid slot which can also be used as an expansion slot if you don’t use a second SIM. And obviously, there is the liquid cooling system that we mentioned above. However, the internals are not so different from the ones of the Note 8.

Xiaomi Redmi 6A receives price cut after just two months of launch

Xiaomi Redmi 6A, the stripped-down variant of the Redmi 6 which was launched in June this year, has now received a price cut of 50 Yuan in China. However, it seems that the price cut is applicable to the 2GB RAM model only.

The phone, which was priced at 599 Yuan (approximately $87) for the 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage model, is now available for 549 Yuan (approximately $80) on Xiaomi‘s official website.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 12nm octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz.

Initially, the phone was launched with 2GB RAM with 16GB storage. Then, the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage model was introduced. Later, the company also launched the 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage variant.

In terms of the optics, there’s a 13-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and a front-facing shooter of 5-megapixel that can capture images with background blur effect. The company has also offered AI Face Unlock feature, and thus, has removed not included the fingerprint sensor.

The phone is running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with the company’s own custom interface MIUI on top. The handset receives power from 3,000mAh battery that promises a standby time of 19 days. It is available in four color options — Platinum Silver Gray, Rose Gold, Bali Blue and Quicksand Gold.

First low-light camera sample from Oppo R17 Pro’s triple cameras looks impressive!

The newly-announced Oppo R17 Pro is definitely one of the most interesting camera phones of 2018 as it features a triple camera setup just like the Huawei P20 Pro as well as a variable aperture like Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and Note 9. Its camera department combines the most innovative camera features of this year, but will the photo quality reflect the goodness of these technologies? It is still too early to know the real quality of the setup given that the phone has just been announced, but in the meantime, the Chinese company has published the first camera sample shot from its triple camera on a post published from its Weibo account.

Even though the photo has been captured in low-light condition, there are no signs of digital noise in it. From this shot, we can assume that Oppo R17 Pro has pretty good quality when it comes to camera performance and its bright aperture works very well in low light situations. There are a number of processes involved in improving the low light sample, including AI image analysis, pixel-level color reconstruction, and cleaning the image to remove noise.

Note that you can’t really talk about a flagship’s camera performance until its honest review. So, don’t keep your hopes too high just yet. In case you missed, Huawei was caught marketing a DSLR picture as a Nova 3i AI beauty sample, so we can never really be sure whether the photos come from the said device.

The triple rear camera of the OPPO R17 Pro is composed of three different sensors. The first is the one with a variable aperture (from f/1.5 to f/2.4), and it sports a 16 MP resolution. The second has a 20 MP resolution and a f/1.7 aperture, while the third has a resolution of 8 MP and it is capable of 3x optical zoom without loss of detail.

At last, there is a selfie camera with a 20 MP resolution and a f/2.0 aperture. Among the other specs of the Oppo R17 Pro, we can find a 6.4-inch display with a minimal notch (just for the front camera), a very high screen-to-body ratio and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Snapdragon 710 chipset by Qualcomm supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage expandable with a micro SD up to 256 GB. Its battery has a 3415 mAh capacity and Android 8.1 Oreo is installed out of the box.
