New iPads certified by EEC, might belong to the Pro line-up

Two new iPads have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). This confirms that Apple is working to bring at least two brand new tablets in the European market. The two new devices are identified by the model numbers A1895 and A1980 and these new codenames are the confirmation that we are talking about new models certified. Further, they are running iOS 12 which is the latest version of Apple’s operating system. According to reports, Apple is planning to release new models from the iPad Pro line-up, so these ones might be the most powerful upcoming phablets from the Cupertino giant.

One of them is rumored to come with a medium-sized 11-inch display and with a bezel-less design as well which will allow getting a compact device even though its screen is wide enough for productivity. Given the presence of thin bezels, we do not expect to see a Touch ID button, unlike the previous models. It might be replaced by a structured light which will allow users to unlock the tablet with Face ID, thanks to 3D facial recognition, just like the iPhone X. Usually, professional tablets released by Apple come with the most powerful SoC released from the Cupertino company.

To be accurate, they usually boast an enhanced version of the latest iPhones’ chipset. So, if these tablets will be released before the upcoming iPhones, there is a chance that at least one of them will sport a powerful Apple A12X SoC with an hexa-core architecture. Note that the Apple A12 Fusion present on the iPhone X is the only hexa-core mobile chipset able to make all of its six core work together. The SoC would be accompanied by up to 4 GB of RAM in the most powerful variant and up to 256 GB of internal storage or more.

OnePlus 6 gets a translucent glass back design thanks to a fan but we ain’t impressed

Smartphones with translucent glass back are gradually gaining some momentum but the design is far from becoming popular. The design was utilized on the HTC U11+ and more recently, Xiaomi unveiled an Explorer edition with a translucent glass panel which gives a glimpse of the internals. OnePlus did not include a translucent glass variant when it launched the OnePlus 6 but that was spotted online. Turned out the translucent glass back design was a third-party creation by a fan of the brand who shared his design on Weibo.OnePlus 6

As seen in the photos, the transparent glass back gives a glimpse of the internals such as the battery, fuselage, cable and other components. The fan seems to have moulded the back panel of the OP6 using a translucent material that can then be glued onto the back. Thus, all the components that can be seen when the rear panel is removed become visible. The rear panel has cutouts for the dual rear cameras and flashlight as well as the fingerprint sensor.

Of course, this sort of third-party design brings along safety concerns. OnePlus CEO Lui Zuohu who also shared the pictures adviced that attention is paid to safety when embarking on such venture. The rear panel swap will also void the phone’s warranty. In our opinion, the internal components don’t look too beautiful to have them all displayed. The Mi 8 Explorer edition and HTC U11+ variant with a translucent back looked beautiful because the manufacturer had to arrange the internals to make them attractive. In the case of the Mi 8, the real internals isn’t even what is displayed and we still love it.

According to the report, the smartphone will soon be available for purchase in Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands. While Oppo spokesperon has confirmed that the phone will land in the UK, no specific date for this has been revealed.

In the Europe, the phone’s pricing starts at €999 and goes all the way up to €1699 for the Find X Lamborghini Edition. While the standard model will be available in two colors — Blue and Red, the Lamborghini Edition comes in Black color.

When this part of the phone slides out, it not only reveals the front camera and 3D face scanning sensors for unlocking the phone, it also reveals the dual rear cameras and LED flash. Vivo NEX S is a very resistant phone (including pop-up camera) according to the first endurance test

Everytime an important flagship gets released, Zack from the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything performs an endurance test in order to check how resistant it is. He did the same with the new Vivo NEX S, which we can define one of the most innovative smartphones of this year. Zack did three kinds of test: a scratch test, a bend test, and a burn test. And the phone has passed all the tests successfully with an incredible result, showing to be a very solid and resistant device.

Zack confirmed that the handset is made of glass for the backplate and metal for the frame, as the company did not reveal it before. One of the main concerns of people who are deciding to buy this handset is the resistance of its motorized pop-up camera. Well, he tested the pop-up camera of the Vivo NEX S as well and it is incredibly solid. It is made of glass and metal just like the device. In the bend test, it flexed a bit, but the display has not cracked and neither the glass back. From what this torture test is showing, besides focusing on innovation and an outstanding hardware side, Vivo has also been able to release a very sturdy phone with long-lasting aesthetics.

Vivo NEX S rocks a wide 6.59-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels, no notch and an in-display fingerprint reader based on the chip unveiled by Synaptics in the second half of last year. Its processor is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. It boasts a rear dual camera with 12 and 5 MP resolutions, f/1.8 and f/2.4 apertures, while the motorized pop-up camera has a resolution of 8 MP and a f/2.0 aperture.

However, there are indications that Xiaomi will soon put the device up for grabs in China. The device was spotted recently on TENAA where it got certified one and a half month after it was unveiled.https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/19/elegant-xiaomi-mi-6-silver-edition-hands-images/

A poster teasing the Mi 8 Explorer Edition recently appeared on Weibo and it points at a July 24 release. The device will be available for 3699 yuan (~$552). It is likely still a while before the device will become available outside China if ever it will.

HMD Global launched the Nokia X6 back in May but many fans have been left disappointed since the launch was only limited to China. Given the feedback by the brand’s fans, HMD Global has decided to bring the new mid-ranger in the global market. A few days after the official launch in China, Juho Sarvikas has published a post on Twitter in which he implicitly confirmed the arrival of the handset even in the global market.

Recently, we learned that the Nokia X6 will be released in Europe with another name: Nokia 6.1 Plus. Thanks to a recent leak, we also know that the launch event will be held on July 19. Nokia X5 tipped to launch on July 17 after event cancellation

Nokia X5 should have been launched a few days ago, but at the last moment, the launch event was canceled. HMD Global has published a post on the microblogging platform Weibo with its apologies to its fans, saying that there were issues with the launch event center but not giving any exact reason for the cancellation. The Finnish firm did not even give a new date for the launch of the upcoming mid-range handset, but now some reports have revealed it. According to an unknown source cited by GizChina, it will be officially announced on July 17.

However, we can not give you any info about the reliability of this report and we are yet to receive an official answer from HMD Global in this regard. So, take everything with a pinch of salt, but we believe it will not take much for this device to be officially announced. In the meantime, it is worth reminding you of the main specs of the upcoming mid-ranger which will succeed the X6 and its satisfying success in the last period. Nokia X5 will boast a 5.86-inch display with IPS technology and it will be the second HMD Global phone to sport a notch as well as a 19:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it will feature an octa-core Helio P60 chipset which is currently the best one released by MediaTek in the last year but remains a midrange SoC. It should come in at least two configurations: one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, and another with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB ROM. The first variant is expected to be launched in China with a price tag of 799 Yuan, which roughly translates into $120, while the 6/64 GB version is expected to be priced 999 Yuan (roughly $150). Nokia X5 should also launch in the global market with a different name: Nokia 5.1 Plus.

Some Google Pixel 2 units affected by Fatal Camera Error can’t shoot photos

New camera problems related to the Google Pixel 2 line-up have been reported by some users. The issues are related to the camera which does not allow to shoot photos and in some cases, it does not work anymore. Such issues have been reported even after the official launch, but thanks to new reports we learned that they are still present and they are worse than expected. While the issue sometimes caused the camera app not to open due to a “fatal error” to other users, a user on Twitter has reported that the camera on her device never works, even though she followed all the workarounds suggested by Google for this issue.

Google has then replied that it is aware of the issue and looking into it. Google then told to the Twitter user to put her Google Pixel 2 in airplane mode and see if the camera works, then update the post. If you own a Google Pixel 2 or 2 XL and you have this issue, according to Google you have to clear the default camera app cache. In order to do it, visit the app sections of the settings menu, then select the default camera app and tap on Clear cache. Then, restart your phone and try to open the app again. Otherwise, you can try to put your phone in Airplane mode and open the camera app as this is supposed to be an issue related to connectivity.

If even this method does not work, try to shoot photos by using alternative camera-based apps such as Snapchat etc. However, you might be able to only use the selfie camera as users affected by the issue when trying to access the rear camera often get a black screen. Google has even replaced some units having this issue, but from what it has just posted, it seems to be a software-related problem.
