Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is definitely one of the most interesting Xiaomi releases of last year as it is the biggest device released by the company. But even though this is one of the most comfortable phones for productivity, it still haven’t received Android Oreo. The handset has been launched with Android Nougat and actually, it still runs Nougat customized with MIUI 8.5. But now, thanks to the most famous custom ROM, it is possible to install Android 8.1 Oreo on the phablet, which is the latest version of the operating system available if we exclude Android P Developer Previews.
An XDA Senior Member identified by the nickname ashwin007 has made a LineageOS 15.1 ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo for the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. The ROM has not been made by the official LineageOS team and it does not meet the requirements of the official LineageOS, so you will not find this ROM on the official LineageOS ROM list. But, according to the developer, it is a stable ROM and almost everything works fine. Given that it is not an official update, if you want to try this ROM on your Xiaomi Mi Max 2 you have to flash it manually.
In order to flash LineageOS 15.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, you need to unlock the bootloader and flash the TWRP recovery mode. Then you need to flash the ROM and install the Google apps package called OpenGapps. To download the ROM, head to the link at the end of this article. At the moment, we still do not know when Xiaomi will decide to officially roll out Android Oreo on the Mi Max 2. Actually, the company is bringing MIUI 9.5 Global Stable update to 30 of its devices, but not all the handsets listed by the company will get an update based on Oreo.

In the previous month, Smartisan had confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on April 9 to announce a new smartphone. The rumor mill had been speculating that the Chinese manufacturer may launch the Smartisan Nut 2 smartphone through the upcoming launch event. However, a new Weibo post from the company confirms that it will be launching the Smartisan Nut 3 on April 9.
A recent Weibo post from the company states that starting from today until 2:30PM on April 14, users can setup sales reminder for the new Smartisan Nut 3 at Smartisan Tech Mall and its official store at JD. Users can receive SMS alerts and stand a chance to win Nut 3 through lucky draw. Smartisan’s official JD store will also provide its fans with a new gift every day.
It is speculated that smartphones with model numbers OC105 and OC106 that had been certified by China’s 3C authority in January are the two variants of the Nut 3. The OC105 was also spotted at TENAA on Feb. 27.
The Snapdragon 636 chipset that is present under the hood of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Chinese edition) and Meizu E3 is speculated to power the Nut 3. As far as appearance is concerned, it is likely to arrive with tri-bezeless design that features a thick bezel at the bottom and narrow bezels at the remaining sides of the display. The bottom bezel is pegged to feature a home button enabled with a fingerprint reader.
The Smartisan Nut 3 is expected to feature 4 GB of RAM, 12-megapixel dual camera module and it is likely to arrive in three storage choices like 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. These models are speculated to be respectively priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$255), 1,799 Yuan (~$269) and 1,999 Yuan (~$318).
The OnePlus 6 may indeed be launching soon. The upcoming flagship has been spotted today on the website of the Wi-Fi alliance after getting certified. The Wi-Fi certification doesn’t reveal much but there is still a bit of info worth knowing.
The OnePlus 6’s model number is revealed to be A6003. This follows the pattern of previous OnePlus phones. It is also revealed that the phone is running Android 8.1.0 with firmware version OsygenOS 5.1.0. Just like the OnePlus 5T, the OnePlus 6 also supports dual band Wi-Fi.
Although it is still surprising that the OnePlus 6 will be launching early but seeing as the OnePlus 5T is out of stock in some markets already, and OnePlus doesn’t have other phones it is selling, it makes sense why it is releasing a new phone earlier than expected.
The LG G7 is coming much later than its predecessor, the G6, and when it does launch, it will be wearing a moderately revamped design. We already know what it looks like, thanks to a video and photos from an Israeli publication that got a private hands-on at MWC 2018.
Nevertheless, Popular leaker @OnLeaks in collaboration with @TheMrPhone have provided 3D renders of the upcoming LG flagship. Actually, it is not much different from the prototype seen at MWC.
The LG G7 sports a FullVision display with a notch at the top. It is still surprising that a manufacturer as big as LG will join the notch trend. However, the video from MWC shows that the phone has an option to blacken out the area around the notch so it appears as if it doesn’t have one. There is still a bit of bezel at the bottom even with the new design.
There are other big changes coming to the LG G series. First, the rear cameras are now arranged vertically. They share the same housing and flanking them on the left is the LED flash and laser focus module. There is also a fingerprint scanner beneath the setup.
[envira-gallery id=”182721″]
The second big change is the hardware buttons. The LG G6 has its power power button buried under the fingerprint scanner. So to turn it on, you have to push it down for a few seconds. For the G7, the button is now on the right side but the left side still has three buttons.
If two of those buttons are the volume rocker, what then is the third button? Reports say this is a dedicated button for activating the smart assistant. Sounds familiar? Yup, reminds us of Samsung’s Bixby button.

The Xiaomi TV Speaker comes in white and has a minimalistic, simple design. The body has a long stripe design and the front of the speaker is covered with a fabric material. The design also blends with the TV and all styles of home decor.
It also comes with built-in 8 sound units and this includes two 20-ball dome tweeters, two 2.5-inch subwoofers and four passive radiators. The sound frequency response ranges between 50GHz – 2500GHz. The output is clear and the sound is natural. The interface is also robust and is compatible with all kinds of TV. In terms of operation, the Xiaomi TV Speaker is designed to be simple and practicable. There are seven physical buttons at the top of the bod. The buttons are marked with the relevant signs such as Volume reduction, Volume increase, Bluetooth, Aux-in (3.5mm audio), Line in (AV audio), SPDIF (SONY, PHILIPS digital audio interface), Optical (Optical fiber). The function buttons correspond to the different mode you choose to use on your smart TV. With this arrangement, users can easily operate the Speaker without a user manual.
In addition to being used for the Mi TV and other smart TVs and even older TV models, the Mi TV Speaker can be used while connected to a mobile phone, computer, projector and many other electronic devices.
Last year, Xiaomi launched the Mi A1 smartphone, making it the first smartphone from the China-based company to run on the stock Android operating system instead of its own MIUI. Now, the company is working on its successor — Mi A2.
The Xiaomi Mi A2, which will be the global variant of the Mi 6X, has been leaked online a couple of time. Recently, folks at Tech Configurations created concept renders of the Mi A2 smartphone based on the rumors surrounding the device. Now, the phone’s specifications have been leaked online.
According to the latest leak, the smartphone will come with a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ full-screen display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the phone will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The device will come with a dual camera setup at the back, just like its predecessor. The Mi A2 will feature a 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.8 aperture at the back, along with an LED flash.
The camera is expected to support phase detection autofocus (PDAF) as well as Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS). On the front side, the phone will come with a 20-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies and video calling.
As of the software, the smartphone will be running the stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. Also, just like its predecessor, the Mi A2 will be a part of Google’s Android One program. The smartphone is said to be powered by 2,910mAh battery, which is smaller in capacity compared to the Mi A1.
The new leak regarding the phone’s specifications is in line with the TENAA listing of the Xiaomi Mi 6X. The listing also suggested a 5.99-inch display and 2,910mAh battery. The certification database also revealed that the smartphone could measure 158.88 × 75.54 × 7.3 mm. And, the design of the smartphone is said to be similar to that of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Currently, there’s no information available regarding the phone’s launch, pricing or availability. However, we expected the Mi A2 to get launched sometime around July given that the Mi A1 was launched in July last year.
