Honor V10 aka Honor View 10 units are receiving a critical system stability patch update in China. The update weighs only 2.08 MB in size and the company suggests all the users to install it as soon as possible.

Honor launched the Honor V10 in December of 2017 with Android Oreo (EMUI 8) onboard. It was later updated to EMUI 9.1 last year, followed by EMUI 10 earlier this year. And now, the Chinese smartphone brand has released a critical system stability update weighing just 2.08 MB.

Unfortunately, the changelog for the update does not reveal what it is for. Instead, it merely reads the update is to ‘optimize the system stability’ and further ‘recommends to install’ it instantly.

Additionally, the changelog also assures the update to not delete user data but still suggests creating a backup before installing in case of any unexpected error. Also, the changelog mentions users to contact Honor via helpline number or Honor Club if they are facing any issue.

Anyway, if you are using a Chinese Honor V10, make sure to download and install the latest update. We are not sure if the same update will be rolled out to the global version of the device.

A few months ago, Huawei has unveiled its all-new EMUI 9.0 custom interface which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system with a few AI-based functions. The company has already released EMUI 9 update to several Huawei and Honor smartphones in China.

Now, after rolling out the update in its home country, Huawei has today announced through Twitter that it will soon start rolling out the new Android Pie-based EMUI 9 to international models, including Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, Honor View 10, and Honor 10.

According to a few media reports, users in Singapore and the United Kingdom have already started receiving the new EMUI 9 update. The new update should soon be available to users in other regions as well. For users who are upgrading, the size of the update is about 4GB while for those who are currently on the EMUI 9 Beta, the package size is about 770MB.

The EMUI 9.0 update brings various new changes along with all the features of Android 9 Pie. The customized skin comes with plenty of bug fixes and enhancements over the EMUI 8.0. The new user interface is better optimized for full view displays and carries additional AI-based features.

It also brings the Computer Mode Version 2.0, wireless universal screen projection through Miracast, one-click screen capture, and HuaweiShare for faster file transfers, among others. There is also a new password manager capable of auto-filling passwords using ID verification from the fingerprint scanner or via facial recognition.

The settings menu has been trimmed down by 10 percent. It also comes with GPU Turbo 2.0 which reduces the touch response of the phone by 36 percent and adds a new app assistant. This new GPU Turbo 2.0 introduces support for four more games: Vainglory, Arena of Valor, Rules of Survival, and NBA 2K18, in addition to PUBG and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Since the update is based on Android Pie, it also gets navigation gestures. Among other features, the Android Pie also comes with Adaptive Battery which makes use of machine learning technology to improve the phone’s power management.

Huawei’s EMUI 9 based on Android Pie has been available as a beta for a while. Now a stable update has begun rolling out to some devices.

If you own the Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20, or P20 Pro and reside in Europe, you should check your phone as the update is already being pushed to these devices. The update is also rolling out to the Honor View 10, Honor 10, and Honor Play. There is even a report that the Honor View 10 is receiving the update in India.

EMUI 9.0 not only brings Android 9 Pie but also brings some new features. There is a new gesture navigation and also HiVision which is just like Google Lens but with some neat tricks of its own such as calorie identification in foods. The overall UI has also changed, system response speed is said to have increased by 25.8%, and there is now support for multiple back ups to various storage devices.

A few weeks ago, Honor View 10 received an update with Turbo GPU which was slated to improve the gaming performance by 60%.

This time, Honor has received Android 9.0 based EMUI 9.0 update with many new changes in the User Interface of the device. Honor has made EMUI 9.0 compatible with the notch displays by adjusting its design elements as accordingly. Other changes include new gesture-based navigation, Manual theme selection, New Quick Settings UI, Android 9.0 based volume slider, Adaptive brightness and much more.

The update is rolling out via OTA (Over-the-Air) for different variants of Honor View 10. It is an incremental update, and it will be available for a small number of users first, then after the successful acceptance, the rollout will begin for the wider audience. Users can also flash the update manually by downloading the BKL-L09C432E4R1P8B108-log file for Honor View 10 BKL-L09.

Huawei announced the new GPU Turbo technology alongside the Honor Play and it is slowly making its way to several of its handsets, including the ones from its sub-brand Honor. According to the roadmap released by the Chinese company after the announcement, the Honor View 10 should have received the new technology in September, and indeed the company respected the roadmap.

In these hours, the flagship is getting the update in Italy, according to reports, and it should soon be available in the rest of the world. The update comes through an OTA notification, so everyone who owns a unit of this device can install it. If you got the device and you want to try to force the arrival of the update, then you have to head to the Settings and choose the Device info section, and tap on Software updates.

According to reports from Italy, the GPU Turbo technology on the Honor View 10 currently supports a limited amount of games and one of the games supported is PUBG Mobile. Today through its official Weibo account, Honor has revealed that it will be launching a new version of the Honor V10 on August 14. The handset will be arriving with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Honor had launched the Honor V10 smartphone in November 2017. At that time, it was introduced in two models such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. These models were launched with a price tag of 2,699 Yuan (~$395), 2,999 Yuan (~$439) and 3,499 Yuan (~$512). However, these models are now selling with discounted price tags such as 1,999 Yuan (~$292), 2,499 Yuan (~$366) and 2,799 Yuan (~$409).

The sale of the new 8 GB RAM variant of Honor V10 will begin at 10:08 AM on Aug. 14. However, the company is yet to reveal the pricing of this model. As it can be seen below, the company has already listed the 8 GB + 128 GB on Vmall, but its pricing is not mentioned.

Honor is currently selling two smartphones with 8 GB of RAM namely, Honor 10 GT and Honor Note 10. Both the phones are respectively priced at 3,299 Yuan (~$483) and 3,599 Yuan (~$527). So, there is a possibility that the Honor V10 with 8 GB of RAM could be priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$439) or 3,099 Yuan (~$454).

The Honor V10 was introduced in colors like Red, Gold, Blue and Black. It is not clear whether the upcoming 8 GB RAM Honor V10 will be also available in same color options.

The Honor V10 features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Kirin 970 SoC. For photography, it features 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup and a front-facing shooter of 13-megapixel. It draws power from 3,750mAh battery that is enabled with fast charging technology. The same smartphone is available as Honor View 10 outside of China.

After launching the Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphone in the United States, the company has now launched yet another phone in the US — Honor View 10.

Priced at $499, the phone is now available for pre-order and will start shipping from March 22. Just like every other Honor phone available in the US, it will be offered Unlocked and compatible with GSM/LTE carriers.

The Honor View 10 comes with a 5.8-inch IPS LCD display that offers 18:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the company’s own Kirin 970 processor with four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The processor is coupled with NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for AI-based tasks. Using this AI chip, the phone continuously detects different scenes like nature, pet, text, portrait and so on and also scans at a very fast rate of 33 times per second. The phone can also perform real-time translation through the Microsoft Translator app.

The Honor View 10 packs 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage and support microSD card for further expanding the storage capacity up to 256GB. There’s a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup on the back panel of the phone. On the front, there’s a 13-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system based EMUI 8.0. The phone comes packed with a 3,750 mAh battery that is coupled with Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charging technology. The company claims that the battery can provide up to 23 hours talk-time on 3G, and 22 days of standby time. It also comes with 5V/4.5A fast charging support.

Connectivity options on the Honor View 10 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C (2.0), and 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone features a Facial Unlock technology that can also be used to support payment-level authentication. As per the company, it can unlock the device in just 400ms.

Thanks to the official TWRP which is now possible to install on Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Honor View 10, these phones will be able to run many custom ROMs, and LineageOS 15.1 will be among the best ones that the users will be able to install. It is worth noting that the handsets also support Project Treble since they run Android 8.0 Oreo, and it means that AOSP ROMs can be easily ported to them. There is just an issue on LineageOS 15.1 for Honor View 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro: the wireless display feature does not work. So, if you install this custom ROM you will not be able to connect your device to an external monitor via Wi-Fi.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 has started and Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced the arrival of the Honor View 10 in the U.S. markets. The Chinese firm has also confirmed that it will be soon releasing a limited edition red color variant for the Honor 7X in multiple markets.

Various smartphone OEMs have red colored versions of their phones. Here is a list of our favorite red smartphones from 2017. None of these phones carry an inexpensive price tag as the red variant of the Honor 7X. Starting from Feb. 14, Honor will be selling the red Honor 7X in markets like the U.S., the U.K, France, Germany Italy, Spain, Russia and India. Since it is limited edition, the Chinese company will be selling only 20,000 units of the Honor 7X red in these countries.

Also, in each of the aforementioned countries, Honor will be giving away Honor Monster AM15 headphones as a special gift for the first 100 buyers. The red Honor 7X will be available through Honor’s online store. There is no confirmation on whether it will be made available through online retailing partners.

The red Honor 7X is expected to carry a price tag of $199 in the U.S. The other color variants such as black, blue and gold are already available in the country with the same pricing.

In December 2017, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had debuted the View 10 in Europe. During the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, the company has introduced the smartphone in the U.S.

The View 10 has a 5.8-inch IPS LCD display that offers 18:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution. It is powered by Kirin 970 that brings along a dedicated AI chip (neural processing unit) for handling AI tasks.

The AI chip allows the smartphone to continuously detect different scenes like nature, pet, text, portrait and so on. It scans at a very fast rate of 33 times per second. The View 10 can also perform real-time translation through the Microsoft Translator app. The Chinese firm has confirmed that it will be releasing a developer SDK that will let anyone to create an app that will work on the AI capabilities of the phone.

The SoC is supported by 6 GB of RAM. It includes a native storage of 128 GB and also carries support for microSD card. It is packed with a 3,750 mAh battery that is coupled with Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charging technology. The 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup sits on the back panel of the phone. For snapping selfies, it is equipped with a 13-megapixel front camera. It comes preloaded with EMUI 8.0 that is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Honor has teamed up with Snapchat to add a virtual button inside the camera app for easily sharing selfie shots.

Honor did not confirm on the pricing of the View 10 for the U.S. markets. However, it is expected to get confirmed soon. In Europe, the View 10 is available with a pricing of 499 euros (~$600). Chinese tech outfit ZOL has published their teardown guide for the Honor V10 and the verdict remains a positive one for the Kirin 970-powered midrange smartphone. The teardown not only revealed the entire internals, it also shows that the smartphone may be easy to repair. The procedure for dismantling the smartphone looks pretty much like an easy one, just like Huawei’s other smartphones. But it must be noted that the V10 internal design looks different from that of its predecessor, the Honor V9. Huawei opted for a modular design on the V10 which saw the rear panel entirely separated from the rest of the device. This would aid in repairs as opening up the device won’t be difficult as there won’t be fear of ripping up a wire while removing the fixed back cover. The V10 also lacks any visible heat pipe but then the energy efficient Kirin 970 would ensure the device doesn’t heat up. In addition, the motherboard and other components are also well-arranged and the wires are protected by metal covers which makes for easy removal if the device is to be disassembled.

The Huawei Honor V10 dominated the headlines when it was first launched in China last month partly because of its full-screen 18:9 display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080p. Secondly, the device features the latest Hisilicon Kirin 970 flagship chip with AI capabilities. No, it isn’t a flagship model but we can’t fathom why Huawei chose to use its flagship processor on a mid-range smartphone. However, that ensures the phone has a high performing hardware setup. The hardware also includes a dual camera setup at the rear. The camera aspect is piloted by a 20MP + 16MP dual camera setup at the rear while selfies are taken care of by a 13MP shooter with AI features. Another cool feature is that the smartphone runs Android-Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 from the go. It also packs a 3750mAh battery with 5V/4.5A super fast charge. It comes with dual SIM slots and both slots are 4G VoLTE enabled. There are three memory versions available, there is a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version, as well as a 6GB RAM + 64GB version and finally a top-end 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version.

Earlier this month, Huawei launched its smartphone named Honor View10, which is a re-branded model of Honor V10 available in China. During the launch event, the company revealed that the phone will go on sale in India from January 8.

Now, the company has revealed that the registrations for the first sale in India will begin from 28th December, i.e. today. It seems that the Huawei’s Honor View10 will be exclusively available through Amazon India, just like the Honor 7X.

In India, the device will be available in two colour options — Navy Blue and Midnight Black. However, the company has not yet revealed the phone’s pricing.

The Honor View10 features a metal body design and comes with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the company’s own Kirin 970 processor, which has a dedicated NPU and brings a ton of AI features.

The device packs 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and comes with an option for storage expansion up to 256GB using a microSD card. The phone features dual rear cameras with f/1.8 aperture — one is a 16-megapixel RGB sensor while the other is a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel selfie shooter.

Even though the Honor View10 comes with narrow bezels, there is a front-mounted fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options on the device include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, GPS and USB-C port.

The Kirin 659 chipset and 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM are the driving force of this phone. It includes 32 GB / 64 GB of native storage. It is running on Android 7.0 Nougat OS that is customized with EMUI 5.0. It includes a dual camera setup that includes 16-megapixel sensor and 2-megapixel sensor. It has a selfie camera of 8-megapixel. The phone is powered by 3,340mAh battery.

They are among the cheapest flagships in the market, so they are among the best choices i.e. if you are an advanced user but have a low budget. But obviously, seeing that they have affordable prices, they are not at the same level of some of the costlier flagships: there are some compromises in some areas. The main advantage of these devices is surely the hardware side, as both of them have got two of the best SoCs in the market and 4/6GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a good camera and battery as well, but they are just average. Honor View 10 comes with Android Oreo installed out of the box, while for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 you would probably have to wait about a year to get the latest Android version. Further, the Honor View 10 has a micro SD slot to expand memory, while the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 does not.

But wait, there is the price which makes a big difference, and here, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is better given that its more affordable. Online, it is actually possible to find the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 at about 450 euros (528 dollars), while Honor View 10 has just been launched with a price tag of 500 euros (about 590 dollars).

If I had to pick one, I would actually choose Honor View 10 because of its better camera department, bigger battery, the micro SD slot and its newer Android version (even though Mi Mix 2 will probably receive more software support on the long-term, thanks to MIUI’s extended support).

The device packs 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and comes with an option for storage expansion up to 256GB using a microSD card. The smartphone features dual rear cameras with f/1.8 aperture — one is a 16-megapixel RGB sensor and while the other is a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera sensor.

Even though the Honor View10 comes with narrow bezels, there is a front-mounted fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options on the device include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, GPS and USB-C port.

The phone comes with facial recognition for authentication. According to the company, the feature is smart enough to detect when someone else is using the smartphone and hides calls and messages.

It runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with the company’s own EMUI 8.0 over the top. The phone is powered by a 3,750mAh battery which comes with the support for fast charging via Huawei’s 5V/4.5A SuperCharge technology. The company claims that the phone gets 50 percent charge in 30 minutes and a single charge is good enough to deliver 23 hours of talk time on 3G, and 22 days of standby time.

Honor has taken the wraps off two new phones -the Honor View 10 and Honor 7X in Europe. The former is the same device as the Honor V10 unveiled in China last week while the Honor 7X is, well, the Honor 7X released 2 months ago in China.

Honor View 10

The Honor View 10 is a flagship device just like the Mate 10 Pro, packing nearly the same specs but with a cheaper price tag. It has a 5.99” FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and is powered by the Kirin 970 processor, which has a dedicated NPU and brings a ton of AI features to the View 10.

The View 10 comes in a single 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant for Europe with the option for storage expansion (256GB max.). Like the Honor V10, it also features dual rear cameras. One is a 16MP RGB sensor and the other is a 20MP monochrome sensor. For the front camera, there is a 13MP sensor.

The Honor View 10 has a front-mounted fingerprint scanner even with its 18:9 display. There is NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. The phone has a dual SIM slot with support for Dual 4G and Dual VoLTE modes.

Battery capacity for the phone is 3750mAh with support for fast charging via Huawei’s 5V/4.5A SuperCharge technology. The View 10 measures 157 x 74.98 x 6.97mm and weighs 172g. It is thinner than the Galaxy Note 8 (8.6mm) and the iPhone X (7.7mm) both of which have smaller batteries.

The View 10 runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It will sell for €499 (£449) and will be available in Blue. It will go on sale January 8 in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy.

Honor 7X

The Honor 7X on the other hand is a mid-ranger but also features interesting specs at an affordable price.

It has a 5.93” FHD+ 18:9 display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is powered by the Kirin 659 processor and has support for storage expansion (256GB max.). There are dual rear cameras (16MP +2MP) with PDAF and portrait mode an 8MP front facing camera also with portrait mode, beauty mode, and funny filters.

Battery capacity is 3340mAh and it runs EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 out of the box. It will sell for €299 (£269.99) and come with a free Honor Band 3. The Honor 7X is available in blue and black and is already available for purchase on the Honor Vmall site.
