In terms of percentage spread, Apple smartphones accounted for 29.54% of the fake phones recorded while Samsung accounted for 26.44%. Xiaomi accounted for 9.83% and Honor accounted for 6.10%.

A few things that are common with the cloned smartphones is the presence of a 720p display resolution, as well as MediaTek MT6589 processor bundled with a Mali-400 MP GPU onboard. Although the components are not necessarily fake, they are starkly different from what the OEM included in the original version. Interestingly, China’s tech hubs of  Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Beijing ranked among the top three cities where most of the fake smartphones are used in China.

Earlier this month, precisely on November 9, Samsung launched this year’s edition of its flip phone. Samsung W2019 is yet another luxury model from the Korean giant, packing a well-studded specs lineup and a premium design. The W2019 is here available for your perusal thanks to some hands on pictures from Chinese blog Sina Technology.

The Samsung W2019 continues with the clamshell design on the W2018 which was released in December last year. It also continues with other unique features on the W2018 such as dual screens (one at the outside and a second at the inside) as well as the classic T9 keyboard. The body is machined from metal and the frame is finished with an innovative edge glow process. The device also houses a fingerprint sensor that is situated at the right side of the body, integrated with the power button.

The Samsung W2019 external display is a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED display  with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Also, the internals display screen comes with the same specification. The rear is covered with the Corning Gorilla Glass and entirely, the device weighs 257 grams. On the internals, it is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset and packs a dual camera setup at the rear. Samsung has announced the W2019 flagship flip phone through a launch event in China. It has arrived as the successor of the Snapdragon 835 powered W2018 flip phone that was announced in December last year. Compared to the predecessor model, the W2019 has come with some new features such as improved processor, dual rear cameras and side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Samsung W2019 Specifications and Features

The Samsung W2019 flip phone features an external S-AMOLED display of 4.2 inches that carries support for Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The 4.2-inch internal S-AMOLED display of the phone also supports FHD resolution.

The clamshell phone when closed measures 132.9 x 63.4 x 17.3mm and it weighs 257 grams. The rear side of the phone is made out of Corning Gorilla Glass. It comes in two color choices of Rose Gold and Platinum. Opening the flip phone reveals its directional keypad as well as its numeric keypad. The smartphone is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

The Snapdragon 845 chipset is present under the hood of the Samsung W2019. The SoC is supported by 6 GB of RAM. It comes in storage choices of 128 GB and 256 GB.  There is a microSD card slot for expanding the storage of the clamshell phone. The W2019 is backed by 3,070mAh battery that offers 85 hours of standby time and around 280 hours of talk time.

Turning the phone to its back reveals its horizontally arranged 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual camera module. The main sensor supports f/1.5 – f/2.4 intelligent variable aperture. The secondary sensor has f/2.4 aperture. The dual rear cameras is equipped with features like OIS, 2x optical zoom, 4K video shooting at 60 fps and dual-tone LED flash. It also supports recording of Full HD slow motion videos at 960 fps.

The Android 8.1 Oreo OS along with Samsung Experience UI is present preinstalled on the W2019 flip phone. The connectivity features available on the smartphone include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2. It lacks support for 3.5mm audio jack. The handset is equipped with a dedicated button for accessing Bixby AI assistant.

Samsung is known for providing exclusive concierge services for the users of W-series flagship flip phone. Free software fixes, phone disinfection and exclusive hotline service are some of the premium services that are available for the buyers of Samsung W2019.

Samsung W2019 Pricing and Release Date

Samsung is yet to confirm on the pricing of the smartphone. The smartphone will be exclusively available for purchase through China Unicom. The handset is expected to be priced more than 10,000 Yuan (~$1,439).

Samsung has an event on the 9th of November where it will unveil the W2019 clamshell smartphone. Samsung has released a poster for the event which will take place in China and it does more than just tell us the details of the launch.

The poster shows us the phone and the two color variants it will be available in which are Rose Gold and Platinum. The photo also shows the W2019 will have its SIM tray on the upper half of the phone and its power button on the lower half.

If you brighten the image, you should be able to see the outer 4.2-inch screen and the T9 keypad clearly. There is also a China Unicom logo on the image which means the phone will likely be exclusive to the carrier.

The Samsung W2019 will have two 4.2-inch displays, a Snapdragon 845 processor, and dual rear cameras. It will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and have a 3,000mAh battery. Samsung has also double the number of cameras on the phone’s rear.

Just last week, Samsung had a big event in China where it announced the Galaxy A9s and the Galaxy A6s smartphones. The Korean manufacturer has announced that it will have another event in the country on November 9, and from the poster, we can confirm it is for the launch of the Samsung W2019 phone.

The Samsung W2019 is the latest in Samsung’s W-series clamshell phone exclusive to China. The phone was seen on TENAA a few weeks ago but only images and a few specs were revealed. A lot of hands-on images have also surfaced on the web.

In the past year, the W-series has served as a sort of testing ground for some features Samsung later adopted for its other flagships. For example, last year’s model was the first to have a camera with a variable aperture. We haven’t heard of any special feature this model will have. However, images have confirmed that it will come with dual rear cameras like the Galaxy Note9 and the Galaxy S9+.

Samsung’s Android-based flip phone, W2019 has once again caught in the wild via a video. Last week, it appeared at TENAA, a Chinese regulatory authority with full specs details. In a newly leaked video of the Samsung W2019, we can see it’s dual-screen and flip design along with the dual rear shooters. The new version of the Samsung flip phone comes with various improved features and specs. It features 4.2-inch AMOLED displays – one on the inside and one on the outside.

As per the listing on TENAA, Samsung W2019 flip phone carries Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with a T9 keyboard under the hood. In the camera department, Samsung added a dual camera setup having an aperture of f/1.5-2.4. It will bring an optical 2X zoom capabilities using its second camera shooter on the rear side. There will be a 3000 mAh battery to keep it running with Android 8.1 Oreo on board.

Samsung W2019 will host 4.2-inch dual displays having a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. Unlike its predecessor, Samsung W2018, it will carry a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The handset measures 132.9 x 63.2 x 17.3mm.

Freshly leaked photos of the Samsung W2019 have appeared on Weibo to reveal its design from all angles.

The leaked images of the Samsung W2019 show that it is equipped with dual displays. One of them is present on the outside of the device while the other can be seen after flip opening it.

A horizontal dual camera setup is located on the backside of the W2019. The Samsung W2018 has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The W2019 seems to be equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

The overall appearance of the Samsung W2019 does not deviate much from its predecessor. An earpiece and a selfie shooter are positioned above the inner screen. A directional pad and a numeric keypad are available on the other half of the device.

The TENAA listing of the Samsung W2019 contains minimum details such as dimensions, display and battery size. It has revealed that the phone is equipped with a pair of 4.2-inch display that probably carries support for Full HD resolution like Samsung W2018. It is packed with a 3,000mAh battery. The handset measures 132.9 x 63.2 x 17.3mm. Since the W2018 was powered by Snapdragon 835, it is likely that the W2019 flip phone will arrive with Snapdragon 845 chipset.

The Samsung W2019 that has a model number SM-W2019 has been certified by Wi-Fi Alliance, Bluetooth SIG, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and TENAA. These certifications have revealed that the launch of Samsung W2019 smartphone may not be far away.

The Samsung W2019 flagship clamshell phone was seen on TENAA a few days ago but only the images were available. The full specification listing has still not been published but details of the screens and battery capacity have surfaced.

According to the info on TENAA’s website, the Samsung W2019 will have two 4.2-inch displays. This is the same screen size as that of its predecessor but we are not sure if the resolution for each screen is still 1080 x 1920.

The W2019 will have one screen that is visible when the phone is closed and a second screen that is visible when the phone is flipped open. Both displays will be covered in Gorilla Glass.

While the screens have not changed the battery capacity has gotten a major boost based on the info on TENAA. The W2019 will have a 3,000mAh battery, 700mAh more than that of the Samsung W2018.

Samsung had launched W2018 Android flip phone with flagship specs last year in December. Recent reports have revealed that the South Korean company is prepping up to launch W2019 flip phone by the end of this year. The W2019 that has a model number of SM-W2019 was recently spotted on the website of WFA Alliance. Today, the images of the phone have appeared on TENAA which indicates that its arrival is getting closer.

The TENAA images showcases the flip phone design of the Samsung W2019. The above image shows the front and rear sides of the smartphone. The front side of the W2019 features its main display. The back panel of the phone is equipped with a horizontal dual camera setup along with its LED flash. The W2018 smartphone features a single camera on its rear.

Flip opening the smartphone reveals its second display. Above the internal screen is an earpiece and a selfie camera. The other half features a directional pad and a numeric keypad. The overall design of the phone is not very different from its predecessor.

Previous reports have claimed that the Samsung SM-W2019 is codenamed as Lykan. The W2019 flip phone has bagged couple of certifications in the past few days. It has been certified by MIIT (first spotted by MySmartPrice) in China and its images have also surfaced on TENAA. According to another website, the handset has also bagged Bluetooth SIG approval. The Bluetooth approval of W2019 has revealed that it is equipped with Bluetooth 4.2.

The Samsung W2018 from last year is powered by Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB of RAM. Rumors surrounding the Samsung W2019 claim that it could be equipped with Snapdragon 845. Now that the South Korean company has launched two smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy A9 (2018) with 8 GB of RAM, it is likely that the upcoming Samsung W2019 may also arrive in 8 GB RAM edition.

A lot of people don’t know Samsung releases three flagship series per year. Apart from the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series, there is actually a third series and it’s the W-series exclusive to China. The W-series have a clamshell design (or flip phone as most people call it) and are also Samsung’s most expensive phones with price tags reaching almost $3,000.

Going by the naming scheme, this year’s model should launch as the W2019 and there is a high chance it is the third Snapdragon 845 phone headed to China.

News of the Samsung W2019 first surfaced a few months ago when @MMDJ_, a leaker known for Samsung-related devices, tweeted some details about it. He revealed the device is internally referred to as “Project Lykan” and will come with dual rear cameras. The folks at XDA Developers have done some digging and found more info related to the device. This new info confirms it will have a Snapdragon 845 processor.

After digging through kernel source code for the Galaxy S9 (SD845 variant), they found references to a device codenamed “lykan”. They also came across the codename in two files. One of the files is named “sdm845-sec-lykanlte-chn-r00.dtb” while the other is named “sdm845-sec-lykanlte-chn-r01.dtb”.

Apart from the link to the Snapdragon 845 chipset, nothing spec-related was found. We do hope more details should surface soon. Nevertheless, we are sure the phone will come with dual displays just like its predecessors.

What we can’t say is if Samsung will debut a new feature with the phone as it did with last year’s model. For those who don’t know, the Samsung W2018 is the first Samsung phone with a variable aperture, allowing the camera to automatically switch between a f/2.4 and f/1.5 aperture depending on the lighting condition of the scene.

The Snapdragon 845 mobile platform was officially unveiled by Qualcomm earlier in this month. It is the second-generation 10nm chipset that has arrived as a successor for Snapdragon 835. It is expected to several flagship phones in 2018. A leaked image showing the list of rumored phones that will be powered by Snapdragon 845 has appeared on Weibo. The leak also reveals the expected announcement timelines for those phones.

The above image shows that Samsung will be debuting the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in February. Even though the rumor mill has not revealed much information on the upcoming LG G7, the leaked photo states that the LG G7 and G7+ will be released in the same month. This shows that the LG G-series phone for 2018 won’t be coming with a non-flagship chipset.

In April, Xiaomi Mi 7 is speculated to debut as China’s first Snapdragon 845 powered smartphone. Just as the HTC U11 had debuted in May this year, its successor – the HTC U12 is speculated to debut in the same month in 2018.

In June, the OnePlus 6, ZTE Nubia Z18 and Sony Xperia XZ Pro-A smartphones are expected to arrive in the market. It appears that the Sony’s flagship may get unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in February, but it will be hitting the market later in June. The Nokia 10 flagship is likely to get announced in August.

The month of September will see biggies like Samsung Galaxy Note 9, LG V40 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. The Google Pixel 3, Pixel XL, ZTE Nubia Z18S, Sony Xperia XZ2 and HTC U12+ are rumored to debut in October. Motorola is speculated to debut the Moto Z 2019 flagship phone in November. Lastly, the OnePlus 6T and Samsung W2019 flip phone are rumored to release in December.

The list does not contain any information for the successor phones for Essential Phone and Razer Phone. Apart from the Motorola flagship that is speculated to arrive late and the HTC’s second flagship that is rumored to launch a bit early, most of the phones mentioned in the leak are arriving at the same time as their predecessors did this year However, we advise our readers to digest the report with a pinch of salt.
