Huawei to launch Nova 12 series globally on March 21: Nova 12s, Nova 12 SE and Nova 12i incoming

Huawei launched the Nova 12 series smartphones back in December 2023 in China. Now, the company is bringing the lineup to a global audience. Huawei confirmed via X/Twitter that it is hosting a “Nova 12 Series Product Launch” event scheduled for March 21st in Mexico.

HuaweI Nova 12 series launch global

As we reported earlier this week, pre-sales for one of the devices in the lineup, the Nova 12s have already begun in Mexico.

Additionally, Huawei Malaysia’s website has also teased the launch of the Nova 12 series in the country. The website confirms that Huawei will introduce three models — the Nova 12s, Nova 12SE, and Nova 12i.

This lineup differs completely from the Chinese Nova 12 series, which includes the Nova 12 Lite, Nova 12, Nova 12 Pro, and Nova 12 Ultra. Huawei Malaysia’s website has also revealed the full specifications for these upcoming smartphones.

Huawei Nova 12s Specifications

The Huawei Nova 12s measures 161.29 mm tall, 74.96 mm wide, and has a slim profile of 6.88 mm. It weighs around 168g and comes in Black, Blue, or White color options.

On the front, you get a 6.7-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution (2412 x 1084) and a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor and offers a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal space.

On the rear, the Nova 12s features a 50MP main and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, there’s a 60MP camera on the punch-hole cutout in the front. Last but not least, the device packs a 4500 mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging.

Huawei Nova 12 SE Specifications

The Huawei Nova 12 SE is slightly taller and wider than the Nova 12s, measuring 162.39 mm in height and 75.47 mm in width. It’s also slightly thicker at 7.39mm and a bit heavier at 186g.  You’ll find this model in Black or Green color options.

Display-wise, the Nova 12 SE features a 6.67-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2400). However, it has a slightly lower refresh rate of 90Hz compared to the Nova 12s.

Powering the Nova 12 SE is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor paired with the same 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

On the camera front, you get a 108MP main, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor on the rear, while there is a 32MP camera on the front for selfies. Keeping the lights on is a 4500 mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging.

Huawei Nova 12i Specifications

The Nova 12i shares the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor as the Nova 12 SE, along with the same memory configuration.

However, the display is a bit of a downgrade here. It measures a similar 6.7 inches but uses an IPS LCD display compared to the Nova 12 SE’s OLED panel. Both have FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2388) and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Moreover, while the Nova 12i has the same 108MP main rear camera, it loses the ultra-wide sensor and has a lower resolution 8MP front-facing camera.

The device has a larger 5000mAh cell and supports 40W fast charging. In terms of dimensions, it measures 163.3mm in length, 74.7mm in width, and 8.4mm in height and weighs 199 grams.

The device ran the benchmark with model number CPH2613 and scored 1,135 in single-core tests and 3,037 in multicore tests. It’s no surprise that the device is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, as OnePlus has already confirmed it.

Redmi confirms its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 phone, likely to be the Note 13 Turbo

Now that Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset is out, Redmi has announced its plan to release a new smartphone equipped with this new processor.

The company has been tight-lipped on the specific model yet, but speculation points out that it could be the Redmi Note 13 Turbo. However, details about the smartphone are scarce at the moment.

Redmi Snapdragon 8s Gen 3

Redmi introduced the Note 12 Turbo smartphone with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset in China back in March 2023. So initial rumors suggested that the Note 13 Turbo would naturally follow suit with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip.

However, a recent leak suggested that the Redmi Note 13 Turbo will actually launch with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. With Redmi’s announcement aligning with this leak, it appears that the Note 13 Turbo will indeed have the new Snapdragon 8-series chip.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo.

Also to note, a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, called the Poco F5, was announced for the global market in May 2023.  So reports suggest that the upcoming Redmi Note 13 Turbo will remain exclusive to China as its predecessor and it will be launched globally as the Poco F6.

Apart from the new Redmi phone, Xiaomi has announced that the Civi 4 Pro smartphone will also be equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. While the launch date for the Civi 4 Pro has been set for March 21, it’s unclear whether or if the new Redmi phone will also debut on the same day.

Nevertheless, we’ll continue to provide updates on the matter as soon as any new information becomes available.

Realme GT Neo 6 SE schematics reveal its design

Realme is working on its GT Neo 6 series of smartphones. Following the confirmation that the Neo 6 SE will feature a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, new details regarding the device’s design and specifications have emerged, courtesy of the reputable tipster Digital Chat Station.

In a recent Weibo post, the tipster shared design schematics of the GT Neo 6 SE. Visually, the phone bears a resemblance to its predecessor, the Neo 5 SE, particularly in the camera module.

It extends to the edge of the device and houses three distinctive camera rings. The power and volume controls are located on the right side of the device.

Realme GT Neo 6 SE Design

Apart from the design, the tipster also shed light on the phone’s specifications. In addition to the confirmed Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, the phone is said to include an 8T LTPO AMOLED display and a 5500mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging.

That’s the same battery and charging capacity as the Neo 5 SE. So there’s not much of an upgrade in this area.

However, the tipster suggests that the phone has a long battery life, possibly due to the LTPO display. Additionally, DCS mentioned that the phone feels lightweight and thin.

The Realme GT Neo 6 SE is just one piece of a growing series. The Realme GT Neo 6, powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset,  was also recently spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarking platform. So we can expect at least two new devices in the lineup.

As details of the Realme GT Neo 6 series are starting to surface, more information is expected to become available in the coming days. Realme should also announce the launch date of the devices pretty soon.

China’s Engineering Marvel, a New Undersea Tunnel Cuts Down Travelling Times by Half

China‘s high-speed railway network keeps gaining momentum with the completion of a record-breaking undersea tunnel. The Zhanjiang Bay Undersea Tunnel, a key section of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, marks a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.

7551 meters of the tunnel was carved by a single tunnel-boring machine

Capping off 33 months of construction, the tunnel boasts an impressive length of 9,640 meters, with a staggering 7,551 meters carved by a single tunnel boring machine (TBM) named “Yongxing.” This feat makes it the longest single-headed undersea high-speed railway shield tunnel in China, showcasing the nation’s remarkable engineering expertise.

China Tunnel

The importance of this single-headed approach lies in its efficiency and safety, particularly when dealing with complex geological conditions. Traditional methods involving TBMs excavating from both sides and meeting in the middle were deemed unsuitable for the Zhanjiang Bay project.

Imagine this behemoth burrowing as deep as 50 meters underwater, withstanding immense pressure equivalent to 5.2 kilograms on a fingernail-sized area. No wonder the team at China Railway’s 14th Bureau Group had to tailor the machine specifically for these challenging conditions!

But why a tunnel and not a bridge? The answer is multi-fold. The tunnel protects the scenic Zhanjiang Bay skyline and minimizes environmental impact on marine life. Additionally, a bridge could obstruct the passage of large vessels and be vulnerable to typhoons, a frequent occurrence in the area. A subsea tunnel bypasses these concerns, ensuring smooth and safe high-speed rail operations even during harsh weather.

This critical tunnel paves the way for the completion of the entire 401-kilometer Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway by the end of 2025. With a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, this railway line is a vital addition to China’s high-speed network. Once operational, travel time between Guangzhou and Zhanjiang will be slashed from over 2.5 hours to a mere 90 minutes. This project is sure to fuel high-quality development throughout the region.

The car will feature the E05 self-developed car computer chip, boasting superior processing power

The ZERO borrows the impressive 800V platform from its close cousin, the Jikrypton 001. This shared technology hints at the ZERO’s potential for exceptional performance. Expected to launch mid-year, the ZERO is estimated to carry a price tag between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan (approximately $30,100 – $45,150 USD).

Lynk & Co ELectric

With a design language reminiscent of the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P, the ZERO boasts a fastback silhouette. Prepare to be impressed by its size – estimates suggest a length exceeding 5 meters (16.4 feet), a width of roughly 2 meters (6.6 feet), and a substantial wheelbase of around 3 meters (9.8 feet).

Lynk & Co isn’t holding back on features. The ZERO is rumored to be equipped with cutting-edge technology like:

  • Wheel-side electric drive and rear-wheel steering, enabling impressive maneuvers like tank U-turns and crab mode.
  • Advanced suspension systems featuring CDC electromagnetic suspension, dual-chamber air suspension, and an “AI digital chassis.”
  • Cutting-edge global 800V technology.
  • The latest E05 self-developed car computer chip, boasting superior processing power compared to the Qualcomm 8295.
  • A high-end intelligent driving solution complete with lidar technology.

Spy photos released earlier hint at a sleek design with frameless doors, narrow-frame rearview mirrors, and an active rear spoiler. The ZERO appears poised to be a looker as well as a performer.

The Lynk & Co ZERO is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the electric vehicle market. With its impressive performance potential, high-tech features, and stylish design, the ZERO is definitely a car to watch out for when it debuts in April.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk Hypes Up Roadster Unveil later this Year, Says “It cannot be regarded as a Car”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk may have sent electric car fans into a frenzy with new details about the highly anticipated next-generation Roadster. This isn’t your average sports car; Musk himself claims it “cannot be regarded as a car (not even really a car)”. The Roadster prototype, first unveiled in 2017, has been shrouded in mystery due to production delays. However, Musk assures us the wait is nearing its end. A new prototype is set to be revealed later this year, with official mass production targeted for 2025.

The car might achieve insanely high speeds in under a minute

The excitement surrounding the Roadster is because of its newly-hyped performance, achieved through a unique collaboration with SpaceX. Musk promises “some applications of rocket technology” that will push the boundaries of acceleration. The car might even achieve a mind-blowing 0-60 mph in under a mere second, potentially making it the fastest mass-produced car ever.

Tesla Roadster

But here’s where things get interesting. When pressed about flying, Musk playfully responded with a “maybe,” hinting at the possibility of a vehicle that is something entirely different? He talked about the car that possibly combines Tesla and SpaceX technologies, not sure exactly what. I guess we will have to find out. While traditional wings are out of the picture, the Roadster will embrace a new control method. Imagine a “wire-controlled Yoke steering wheel,” similar to what pilots use in airplanes. This innovative steering system, already seen in Tesla’s Cybertruck, adds another layer to the Roadster’s futuristic persona. Now, it’s time to see if Musk’s company delivers on his words.

Xiaomi is getting ready to launch its MIX Flip soon. New details are coming out every day, and it’s catching a lot of attention. There are some corrections to be made about what we previously thought. First, the MIX FOLD 4 won’t be sold worldwide, only in China. But Xiaomi has a surprise planned for May. The MIX Flip, on the other hand, will be available globally.

The first MIX Flip was developed by Xiaomi in 2021 but was stopped. Now, Xiaomi is working on a new one, and it’s expected to be announced officially in May. At first, some people thought it was the MIX FOLD 4, but after looking closely, it’s clear it’s a different model.

Some details about the MIX Flip have been leaked. It’s going to have model numbers “2405CPX3DG / 2405CPX3DC” and the codename “ruyi.” It’s also known internally as “N8.” Xiaomi usually assigns the number “8” to MIX series devices. The last one was the MIX 4, which had cool features like an under-display camera, but it was only sold in China.

The new MIX Flip will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a dual-camera setup on the back. There’s a small screen below the cameras. We’ve seen a speculative image of what it might look like, but it’s not official.

The MIX Flip will be available in many countries, including Turkey, but not in India. Xiaomi is planning a big launch event in May, and people are excited to see what new features the MIX Flip will bring.
