Samsung Galaxy A35 surfaces in leaked renders, sporting familiar design and rumored camera upgrade

Ahead of the anticipated Galaxy S24 launch, Samsung‘s A-series is also attracting attention with new renders surfacing online. The latest reveals are for the Samsung Galaxy A35, joining the A55 renders that appeared yesterday. These images offer a preview of the phone’s design and possible camera improvements.

The leaked renders showcase the A35 in three color options: Iceblue, Lilac, and Navy. They also reveal a design element shared with the A15 and A25 — the distinct “Key Island” bump on the right side, housing the power and volume buttons. Likewise, you can expect the phone to have rounded corners and a likely plastic frame.

On the back of the Galaxy A35, there’s a vertically arranged triple-camera setup with an LED flash, a common design in many Samsung phones. There are rumors that the main camera might be upgraded to 50MP, a step up from the A34’s 48MP. The other two cameras, possibly 8MP and 5MP, might stay the same.

A notable upgrade in the Galaxy A35 is its front design. Samsung has moved on from the U-shaped notch in the Galaxy A34 to a more modern punch-hole camera cutout. The screen bezels look slimmer as well, which is a nice improvement. However, the bottom bezel is still thicker than those on the other sides.

There are reports that the Galaxy A35 might have the same Exynos 1480 processor as the Galaxy A55. It’s also expected to keep its dust and water resistance (IP rating) and might have a 5000mAh battery with 25W charging capability.

But remember, these are just early rumors, so it’s best to take them with a grain of caution. As we get closer to the launch timeline, the A35 could appear on certification platforms or benchmark listings soon, potentially revealing more information. LG Display unveils 480Hz OLED panel for gaming monitors

LG Display has unveiled a new contender in the high-end gaming monitor space — a 27-inch OLED panel boasting a blistering 480Hz refresh rate coupled with a crisp 1440p resolution.

LG’s new panel surpasses its own “Dual-Hz” monitor, which required switching to 1080p to reach 480Hz. This latest offering delivers the full refresh rate at its native 1440p resolution.

More importantly, it directly challenges Samsung’s recent OLED panel with a 360Hz refresh rate at 1440p. LG’s panel ups the ante by offering a higher refresh rate while maintaining a sharper resolution.

However, do note that the 480Hz refresh rate might be overkill for most gamers. Studies suggest the human eye’s maximum observable rate ranges from 50-90Hz, with some individuals reaching over 500Hz under specific conditions. Therefore, 480Hz sits right at the edge of human perception in optimal scenarios.

On top of this, the panel also boasts a 0.03ms response time, claimed to be the fastest on the market. It’s really cool to see (or hear) these advanced features, but remember, they’re not cheap. OLED screens are already expensive, and LG’s latest technology is going to make them even pricier.

Beyond raw speed, LG’s “META Technology” promises improvements in brightness and viewing angles. The company further claims the panel emits the “lowest level of blue light in the industry,” which will help reduce eye fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

While specific monitor models featuring this panel haven’t been announced yet, LG plans a rollout within the first half of 2024. CES 2024 will also see the company showcase its entire lineup of OLED gaming displays, ranging from 27 inches to a hefty 45 inches.

All in all, LG’s new OLED panel redefines the possibilities of gaming display technology, though its practical benefits might be limited to a niche audience.

Realme is expected to unveil its Realme 12 Pro series of smartphones in various markets this month. Today, the key specifications for the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ were disclosed in the TENAA certification platform database. Although the listings provided crucial information, it is worth noting that the chipsets’ names are typically not revealed in TENAA certifications. The Realme 11 Pro and 11 Pro+ were powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset. A new development reveals that the Realme 12 Pro series will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Realme 12 Pro will feature the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset. The same chip powers the likes of the Vivo Y100i Power, the iQOO Z8x, and the Honor X50, which are available in the Chinese market. However, the Realme 12 Pro could become the first smartphone in India to arrive with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip.

As far as the Realme 12 Pro+ is concerned, it is expected to feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. The only other phone that features the same chip is the Redmi Note 13 Pro.

The 12 Pro series will mostly likely run on Realme UI 5-based Android 14. In China, the Realme 12 Pro+ is likely to be priced at around 2,000 Yuan (~$420).

Samsung recently confirmed that it will hold its next Unpacked event on Jan. 17. It will see the arrival of the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones and the Galaxy AI. The rumor mill has already leaked the key specifications of the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24 Plus, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now regional leaks are surfacing to reveal the configurations, pricing, and color options of the Galaxy S24 trio for different markets. In a new leak, tipster Ishan Agarwal has revealed the color variants of the Galaxy S24 series for India.

According to the leaker, the Galaxy S24 will come in shades such as black, gray, yellow, and violet in India. The S24 Plus will be available in black and violet, whereas the S24 Ultra will come in multiple options, such as titanium / gray, black, yellow, and violet.

All three phones will also come in online-exclusive shades, such as orange, green, and blue. As per other reports, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus heading to India will feature the Exynos 2400 chip, whereas the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.

In India, the Galaxy S24 will be available in two options, such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. The S24+ is expected to arrive in the country in variants, such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage. The S24 Ultra may come in options such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 1 TB of storage. It is speculated that the 1 TB variant could be available only through Samsung’s website.

At present, the S24 trio is available for pre-reservations with a refundable fee of Rs 1,999 in the country. There is no information available about the price of the S24 lineup for the Indian market.

Unlike last month, the January 2024 update, comprising the latest security patch and other fixes, is finally available for compatible Pixel Phones on time. The update is primarily aimed at fixing the bugs popping up following last month’s December feature Drop. The same update is also out for the Google Pixel Watch.

The January 2024 Pixel update is rolling out to the following devices: Pixel 5a, Pixel 6/6Pro/6a, Pixel 7/& Pro/7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 8/8 Pro. The updates are out for both unlocked and Verizon-locked smartphones across the globe and in the US, respectively.

Yesterday, two upcoming Realme smartphones, identified by the model numbers RMX3843 and RMX3841, initially surfaced on the TENAA certification platform. At that time, only images of the devices were available, leaving their specifications undisclosed. However, both listings have now been updated to include comprehensive details regarding the specifications of these smartphones.

The TENAA listings of the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ reveal that both smartphones feature a curved-edge AMOLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels, 10-bit colors, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. While it is not mentioned in the listings, both devices are expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Realme 12 Pro is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core chip, whereas the 12 Pro+ has a 2.4GHz octa-core chip. The latter seems to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, as per a recent report. Both devices are expected to come in RAM variants, such as 6 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB, and storage options, such as 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.

The Realme 12 Pro series is expected to run on the Realme UI 5-based Android 14. Both devices are backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The fast charging capabilities of both phones are not known yet. Likely, the Realme 11 Pro series and the 12 Pro lineup may come equipped with up to 100W charging.

Samsung is nearing the launch of its new rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5. The new tablet has already made it to several certification websites, including Singapore’s IMDA, the UAE’s TDRA, and others. Following the past trend, the much-awaited rugged tablet has appeared on Thailand’s NBTC with model code SM-X306B.

The listing confirms its 5G connectivity and its nearing launch. Apart from this, there’s hardly any information regarding the tablet’s specifications.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Specifications (Expected)

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 renders recently appeared while shedding light on the tablet’s design aspect and even confirming some notable features like the presence of a single rear camera. The rugged tablet seems to pack an 8-inch display with thick bezels around the edges. There are three physical buttons: – Menu, Back, and Home, which can be controlled using gloves. Further, it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 enhanced protection for the display and embeds a single front camera. The MIL-STD-810H-certified device appears to carry a single 13MP rear camera along with an LED flash.

As per the FCC, the tablet is confirmed to feature an S Pen stylus with an option for a customizable programmable key, and it also offers IP68 protection, matching the device. Apart from the hardware features, it will include renowned Samsung Knox security protection, face recognition, and fingerprint scanning.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 is expected to come with an Exynos 1380 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and 64/128GB of internal storage. It will also support expandable storage while accompanying a 5050 mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it will include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS connectivity. The new tablet will run Android 14 out of the box and could arrive in black and gray color options.

The Chinese tech powerhouse continues to rise stoutly after the massive setback occasioned by the US sanctions regime against it. While Huawei had shed some of its businesses as a survival strategy, it had also expanded its business model to cover new tech areas outside of telecoms. The Lingxi remote control uses a laser pointer. Users can realize jump selection, dragging, sliding, and other actions. Users can also like, comment, forward, and do similar tasks more conveniently. The Huawei Lingxi can also be used in playing board games like Chess, mark files, drag and drop videos, and so on.

The Huawei pointing remote control has a built-in antenna and is equipped with Lingxi spatial positioning technology, as well as ultra-precise pose fusion technology. A new Garmin smartwatch has been pictured in the Garmin support forum. The leaked image is the first picture of the forthcoming Garmin smartwatch. The official documentation indicates that the second-generation Garmin Lily hybrid smartwatch could be on its way to its launch.

The Lily 2 Sport product image is on a Japanese support page. The Garmin Lily 2 retains the same design philosophy as its predecessor. It has a glossy bezel and a matte body. The new Garmin smartwatch however introduced conventional lug ends, making it easier to swap out watch bands, if required. There is no official confirmation yet of the Garmin Lily 2 series release date. The leak further indicates that the Lily 2 will come in two styles – Lily 2 and Lily 2 Classic.

The Garmin Lily 2 is designed for women just like its predecessor

The Lily 2 series, as per the leaked image, comes with a cream finish and silicone watch band. The Garmin support page did not reveal the SKU of the model shown in the image, leaving the issue to speculation. The leak also detailed four Lily 2 Classic SKUs with leather straps and nylon bands respectively.

There are no official details yet on the release date and pricing of the new smartwatch. It is however expected that the model will be unveiled soon. As per the prices, there are speculations that the Garmin Lily 2 Sport will retail for £199.99 ($252) while the Lily 2 Classic costs £229.99 ($291). The Garmin Lily Classic is still currently available from Amazon and the Lily 2 series will likely berth on Amazon. There is no full confirmation that the Lily 2 series will transit to a production model. Thus the optics so established for the Garmin Lily 2 series could well be lacking model.

UNNO IKKI lightweight electric enduro bike with a full suspension system unveiled

The UNNO IKKI e-light bike with a nimble and lightweight design has been unveiled. The e-bike is available in two versions – the Factory and the Race. They are the first lightweight electric offering from UNNO and both versions come with the same frame design.

UNNO IKKI lightweight electric endure bike

The new UNNO IKKI electric enduro bikes are similar in many respects although the Factory model comes with more premium materials. The bike is equipped with the TQ HPR50 motor with a maximum torque of 50Nm and a maximum power of 300W. There is a handlebar-mounted selector that allows the rider to switch between assistance modes. UNNO claims that the IKKI is the lightest engine and quietest e-bike of its kind. The e-system weighs 3.9kg while the S2 bicycle weighs 18.4kg. the bike is equipped with a motor plate that protects the engine from damage when it hits hard objects.

The IKKI has a standard 360Wh battery and an optional range extender with a capacity of 160Wh. The range extender is sold separately. The models come with a full suspension system including a Fox 38 Float Factory fork and a Fox Float X2 Factory shock with 160mm travel. Control of the eMTB is achieved via the Formula Cura 4 brakes, and MAXXIS tires. Ride information and battery status can be viewed via the e-bike’s integrated TQ screen. The groupset of the Factory and Race versions of the bike are different. The Race comes with an SRAM GX AXS T-Type 12-speed while the Factory features the SRAM XX AXS T-Type 12-speed groupset.

There are different seat posts for the Race and Factory versions of the UNNO IKKI. The Race uses a OneUp Dropper with 120mm travel while the RockShox Reverb AXS with 125mm of travel is used in the Factory version.

Pricing & Availabilty

The UNNO IKKI is available directly from UNNO in the EU and via dealerships across the world with a starting price of $9,795 for the Race version and $12,295 for the Factory model.

LG launches the Mega Capacity Smart WashCombo Washer Dryer for the US market

The LG Mega Capacity Smart WashCombo Washer Dryer has been launched and is now available in the US. The new LG washer dryer comes with a Direct Drive motor and Inverter HeatPump Technology. The model has the largest capacity in its range and has a short two-hour cycle to wash and dry clothes.

Features

The LG Mega Capacity Smart WashCombo washer dryer is capable of washing large fabrics, such as a king-size comforter. Energy efficiency is enhanced with the device’s inverter HeatPump for a quieter operation. It has an integrated LCD digital dial for controlling the washer/ dryer.

There are over 20 cycles to choose from. The machine can also be operated remotely via its companion app, as well as support voice commands via Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa. The machine utilizes LG’s SmartThinQ technology for remote management via the app. You can also use the app to receive updates, progress alerts, and Smart Diagnosis.

The LG Mega Capacity Smart WashCombo uses AI technology to assess the fabric, load size, and dirt level. It then smartly adjusts the cycle for optimal cleaning performance. Some other impressive features in the new LG washer/ dryer are the ezDispense automatic detergent and softener dispensing, as well as the ezLintFilter for effective lint removal. The ezDispense allows for up to 31 auto detergent and dispensing washes.

Pricing & Availability

LG is offering the Mega Capacity Smart WashCombo washer/ dryer for $2,999. The Direct Drive motor of the machine is being offered with a 10-year LG warranty. The premium price tag of the machine implies that LG is targeting the higher end of the economic spectrum for customers. There are no clear global availability details for the washer/ dryer at this time. It is however expected that LG will provide the optics if it hopes to expand its availability to other international markets.

Nio and Xpeng Maintain Momentum:

Xiaomi has officially confirmed the global launch date for its Redmi Note 13 5G series, scheduled for January 15, 2024. This announcement precedes the device’s imminent launch in India scheduled for tomorrow.

The Indian lineup will include three smartphones, namely Redmi Note 13 5G, Note 13 Pro 5G, and Note 13 Pro+ 5G. All of these devices are also expected to launch in the global market as well, likely with unchanged specs. That being said, the mi India website has already confirmed a bunch of specs for both the Note 13 5G and Note 13 Pro 5G models for India.

Redmi Note 13 5G, Note 13 Pro 5G specs:

Starting with the Redmi Note 13 5G, the device will feature a 120Hz punch-hole cutout AMOLED display with minimal bezels, achieving an impressive 93.3% screen-to-body ratio. With a weight of 173.5 grams and a slim 7.6mm profile, the device includes Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for display protection. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor, the Redmi Note 13 5G supports 33W fast charging and boasts a noteworthy 108MP main camera on its rear.

As for the Note 13 Pro 5G, the smartphone is confirmed to feature a double-sided glass body with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It will feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. Under the hood, the device will feature a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 5G chipset accompanied by a 5100mAh battery and 67W fast charging. Last but not least, it will feature a 200MP primary camera.

ASUS is gearing up to launch the ROG Phone 8 series on January 8. The lineup is expected to comprise of standard and pro variants. The Taiwanese brand has already given us an official look at the upcoming offering’s back panel design as well as teased some key details. Now, ahead of the launch, the ROG Phone 8 Pro has surfaced in a fresh set of high-res leaked renders.

Right off the bat, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro is seen with a boxy design with the power and volume rocker buttons on the right edge. The left side of the frame has an additional USB-C port. On the front, the ROG Phone 8 Pro has a center-aligned punch-hole cutout. The screen is surrounded by very narrow bezels on all sides that should offer an immersive experience.

The ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro will have the same protruding squarish camera island that cuts off from the right edge. It houses three camera sensors and there is a text that confirms 8K ultra HD video recording. As per the leaked renders, the Pro model is expected to have a differently illuminated ROG logo compared to the standard variant. The ROG logo on the device is made up of dots that could be programmable with special LED dots.

The bottom of the ROG Phone 8 Pro has a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a speaker grille, and a SIM tray.

The ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro is already confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It will come with an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The upcoming offering is also expected to pack up to 10x telephoto mode. It is also teased to come with anti-shake gimbal for shooting smooth videos.

Honor Magic V2 picks up IMDA certification ahead of global launch

Honor unveiled the Magic V2 foldable smartphone back in July 2023 in China. The device is among the bestselling foldables in the Chinese market as it managed to sell around 8 million units in about 3 months. The brand has already announced its plans to launch the smartphone in the global market in 2024.

Ahead of its launch, the foldable has appeared on the IMDA certification website with the model number VER-N49. While its IMDA listing hints at a potential launch in Singapore, the exact date remains undisclosed. That being said, the brand previously announced that the Magic V2 will be launching in regions like Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, the UK, and Some Latin American markets. The phone might also launch in some South East Asian markets.

Honor CEO Geoge Zhao stated that the Honor Magic V2 is likely to be priced similarly to the Magic VS. To recall, the Magic VS with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage was priced at 1,599 euros for the global market.

The Honor Magic V2 comes equipped with a 7.92-inch foldable LTPO OLED display boasting a resolution of 2156 x 2344 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a brightness of up to 1,600 nits. Additionally, it features a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED cover screen on the front, offering Full HD+ resolution (2376 x 1080 pixels), a 120Hz refresh rate, and a brightness of up to 2,500 nits. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

Internally, the Magic V2 is available with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage in the Chinese market. Fueling the device is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging. For security features, it includes a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

In terms of photography, the Magic V2 sports a 16-megapixel front camera. On the back panel, users will find a versatile camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens with autofocus capabilities, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera featuring OIS and 2.5x optical zoom.
