A privacy consultant named Alexander Hanff has filed a criminal complaint against YouTube in Ireland for using scripts that detect and restrict ad blockers on the platform.
Hanff alleges that YouTube’s use of these scripts violates EU law, which requires consent for non-necessary interactions with users’ devices. He also argues that the scripts amount to spying on EU citizens.
“I consider YouTube’s script to be spyware — aka surveillance technology, as it is deployed without my knowledge or authorization to my device for the sole purpose of intercepting and monitoring my behavior (whether or not ads load in my browser or are blocked by an ad blocker),” he told The Register.
“I chose to go down the criminal complaint route because historically, EU regulators have been absolutely terrible at enforcing the ePrivacy Directive,” he added.
Hanff’s complaint comes on the heels of YouTube’s recent decision to block ad blockers on the platform. The company has said that the move is necessary to protect its revenue from advertising. However, many users have criticized the decision, arguing that it infringes on their privacy and right to control their online experience.
In addition to the criminal complaint, Hanff has also filed a civil complaint against YouTube with the Irish Data Protection Commission. The regulatory authority is currently investigating the matter.

New OLED Apple iPad Pro and 12.9 iPad Air
The Cupertino based giant is apparently planning on unveiling a new 12.9-inch iPad Air model as well as the iPad Pro with an OLED display. According to known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the refreshed iPad Air and iPad Pro will be launching next year. Notably, the analyst believes that the brand will add the oxide backplane, which improve performance for the smaller variant. The upcoming iPad Pros will reportedly launch in two M3 chip models.
Although, these will drop the mini LED panels in favor of the OLED screens. Kuo states that the Pro models will use the same LTPO backplane as the iPhone 15 Pros. Apart from this, we can assume that the other iPad versions will likely get upgrades across the board and could release sometime in the second half of 2024.

The firm also sells other types of handsets. Earlier this year, it released a Nothing Phone (1) clone called Unihertz Luna. Now, it has launched a rugged smartphone with a battery capacity like a power bank.
A smartphone with 23800mAh battery and 120W charging support
The latest product from Unihertz is officially called Tank 3. As the name suggests, it is the third-gen model in the Tank lineup.
Unlike its predecessors, the Tank 3 offers 5G connectivity and houses a much larger battery. To be precise, it draws energy from a whopping 23,800mAh battery.
This giant battery is rated to provide 1,800 hours of standby time, 118 hours of call, 98 hours of music playback, 48 hours of video playback, and 38 hours of gaming.

It sports a 6.79-inch display on the front with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s a triple camera system comprising a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide unit, and a 64MP night vision snapper. On the front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera.

Apple, having recently unveiled its first mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, is reportedly already working on its successor, codenamed “Project Alaska.” While still in its early stages of development, some details about the next-gen headset have emerged, including design changes, hardware components, and a potential launch window.
According to a report by MacRumors, Project Alaska will bear a close resemblance to its predecessor in terms of overall appearance. However, there may be some noticeable differences, particularly with the speakers.
Some designs indicate the absence of speaker housing, while others suggest the presence of speaker-type holes near the top vents. Additionally, references to an audio accessory have been found in documentation, hinting at the possibility of an external speaker for the next headset.
The rear straps are also undergoing a redesign. MacRumors describes them as “simpler in design and appearance,” reminiscent of flat straps commonly found on laptop bags or backpacks.
Delving into the hardware components, the report lists a compass, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, and gyroscope among the sensors. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, and ultra-low latency audio.
The headset will also feature two micro-OLED displays, a TrueDepth camera, four computer vision cameras, two RGB cameras, two infrared illuminators for low-light conditions, and semi-automatic interpupillary distance adjustment.
The second-gen Vision Pro is expected to enter the product validation testing (PVT) stage in 2025, paving the way for a potential late 2025 or early 2026 launch. While pricing details are still under wraps, it’s anticipated to be more affordable than the first-gen model.
The Red Magic 9 Pro launch is scheduled for November 23rd. This is nearly a month earlier than that of its predecessor, the RedMagic 8 Pro.

The results show that the Geekbench 6.1.0 scores have a bit further over time with the multi-core score going up from 6704 to 7214. The single core score also improved slightly. This could be due to optimization improvements. Overall, the scores are looking promising for the first gaming device powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and this device is likely to redefine the game performance ceiling once again.
Speaking of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it consists of a ‘1+5+2’ configuration with a single Cortex-X4 running at 3.30 GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores, and two Cortex-A520 cores.
Three of the five mid cores (Cortex-A720) run at 3.2 GHz and the rest run at 3.00 GHz. The last two efficiency cores (Cortex-A520) are clocked at 2.3GHz.
For context, the predecessor Red Magic 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and had 8GB or 12 GB options for the 128GB and 256GB storage variants, while the 512 GB variant is backed by 16 GB RAM. This device also had a Red Core R2 chip self-developed by Nubia. For the display, it was a 6.8-inch panel with a 2480×1116 resolution and an under-display camera. For power, it has a 6000 mAh battery and 80w fast charging support.
The device being a gaming-centric one, has only an 8-megapixel ultrawide and a 2-megapixel macro besides the 50-megapixel main on the back. The under-display selfie camera in the 6.8-inch corner-to-corner display enables an immersive viewing experience, but that’s about it. The image quality,
That being said, the UDC technology is improving year on year, and for the Red Magic 9 Pro, it is expected to be better than on the Red Magic 8 Pro.
An India-based brand named Seven recently unveiled a new smart ring called the “7 Ring”. The USP of this smart ring is that it allows users to make contactless payments conveniently. Here is a look at all the features of the smart ring.
7 Ring: All the key features
7 Ring – smart ring by Seven
The 7 Ring can be utilized for payments through either NFC or UPI. To initiate a payment using the 7 Ring, users must create a closed fist and bring the ring near a point-of-sale (POS) machine, enabling payments via NFC. Notably, the ring is intentionally designed not to function if the user’s fingers are open, as a security measure to prevent fraud. In addition, when making a payment via UP, users do not need to enter an OTP or PIN to make payments below Rs 5,000 in India.
Setting up the ring initially requires the accompanying app, enabling users to load money onto it, but the app isn’t necessary for making payments. After the verification process, users can establish a prepaid wallet with a monthly transaction limit of Rs 10,000, which can be increased to Rs 2,00,000 through a video KYC verification. The app offers features to monitor transactions, set spending limits, and block the ring in case of loss.
7 Ring – smart ring by Seven
Additionally, the brand has promised to establish a platform for users using the 7 Ring for transactions, offering a range of rewards from partnered brands. This includes incentives such as cashback, raffles, prizes, and access to exclusive merchandise.
The 7 Ring functions as a passive wearable, drawing power directly from the POS machine during transactions. Owing to its design, the device operates without Bluetooth or an internal battery, eliminating the need for charging. Moreover, the 7 Ring provides a personalized experience with seven available size options, ensuring a comfortable and tailored fit for users. Lastly, it is an IP68-rated, dustproof, water-resistant device built with a scratch-resistant Zirconia Ceramic (ZrO2) material.
7 Ring price in India, availability
The 7 Ring comes with a competitive price tag, retailing at Rs 7,000. However, during an early bird offer, customers can avail of a discount, purchasing it for a reduced price of Rs 4,777. The official website of the Seven states that the 7 Ring boasts a 55-month validity period and is covered by a 1-year limited warranty.
Unfortunately, the 7 Ring is not widely available at present. Currently, the smart ring’s availability is restricted to individuals who have received an invite code from existing 7 Ring users.
