Motorola, known for its feature-packed devices offering a clean Android experience, has recently introduced the Motorola Edge 40 Neo. The device comes with an impressive curved display and a compact form factor.
We had the opportunity to get our hands on it, and it appears to be a compelling addition to the growing mid-range market. In this article, we’ll delve into our unboxing experience and share our initial impressions of this exciting smartphone.
Unboxing Experience
I’m trying a Moto phone for the first time, and I’m genuinely impressed by their commitment to plastic-free packaging. Even the phone wrapper is made from paper. I would say it is far better to actually implement plastic-free packaging in real life rather than just talk about it in a 10-minute video during the mega event. I guess you understand who I am talking about.
Inside the box, you’ll find:
Motorola Edge 40 Neo
68W fast charger
USB Type-C cable
Protective case
SIM ejector pin
Quick start guide and warranty card
Design & Build
Sporting a 6.55-inch curved display, the Edge 40 Neo houses a fingerprint scanner beneath it, complemented by a centrally positioned 32MP selfie camera. The phone feels premium, with a vegan leather back offering both aesthetics and a comfortable grip.
The buttons have a tactile feel, and the fingerprint scanner works efficiently. The haptic feedback is also impressive. The rear showcases a dual-camera setup: a 50MP primary and a 13MP ultrawide, alongside an LED flash.
The device also features an IP68 rating which means it is water-resistant up to a depth of 1.5 meters in fresh water for a duration of up to 30 minutes, and it also offers dust protection. According to Motorola, it is the lightest IP68 smartphone yet.
Display
The device features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ 10-bit pOLED curved display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels.
It offers DCI-P3 coverage and reaches a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. The screen is sharp and vibrant, perfect for enjoying media, even in outdoor lighting. The edge display adds a unique touch that catches the eye.
Hardware & Performance
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo runs on the Dimensity 7030 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. It comes preloaded with Android 13.
In daily use, the device performs smoothly, handling popular games like BGMI, Call of Duty, and Real Racing with ease. However, extended gaming sessions may lead to slight heating, though not to a concerning degree.
Geekbench 6 scores indicate solid performance, with 1060 in single-core and 2500 in multi-core.
Camera
The device’s rear camera setup comprises a 50MP primary lens with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120° field of view. The 32MP front-facing camera handles selfies.
The back camera performs decently in good lighting but faces challenges in low light, as does the selfie camera. The front camera does well in favorable lighting conditions but loses detail in low light. These issues appear to be related to optimization and could potentially be resolved with software updates by Moto.

Pricing and Colors
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is available in PANTONE Black Beauty, PANTONE Soothing Sea, and PANTONE Caneel Bay colors. It is currently available in India through Flipkart at a price point of Rs. 20,999 (limited period price).
Closing Thoughts
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo appears impressive on paper and lives up to expectations in real-world usage. I’m pleased to say that after a long time, Huawei continues to make waves in the smartphone market. The company, which had been facing tough times due to the U.S. embargo and struggled with producing high-end products, is making headlines almost every day with its recently launched Mate 60 series. For example, we’ve talked about the success of the phone and how it has put Huawei back on top of the smartphone market in China. Now, thanks to a recent video from a Chinese tech YouTuber, we’ve seen just how durable the flagship Huawei Mate 60 Pro is. Here are the details…
Huawei Mate 60 Pro Proves to Be Incredibly Durable in Extreme Tests
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro is renowned for its high-end features and performance. However, the company has also paid significant attention to durability, which is critically important for all of us these days. We have previously seen how successful the Mate 60 Pro is in drop tests, thanks to Huawei’s Kunlun Glass 2 technology. But how does it perform in extreme durability tests? The Chinese channel First Look Review sought to answer this question by putting the Mate 60 Pro through a series of rigorous tests, including being crushed by a 22-ton roller and being shot by a .22-caliber pistol.
In the first test, the Mate 60 Pro was placed on the ground and a 22-ton roller was driven over it. The phone was completely crushed, but the body remained intact. In the second test, the Mate 60 Pro was thrown from a car traveling at 100 kilometers per hour. The phone suffered some damage, including scratches and dents, but the screen remained intact.
In the third test, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro was shot by a .22-caliber pistol from a distance of 12 meters. The bullet hit the phone in the back, leaving a small hole. A second shot from a distance of 20 meters also hit the phone, but this time the bullet did not penetrate the screen. The results of these extreme tests suggest that the Huawei Mate 60 Pro is a very durable phone. It can withstand significant impact and pressure without breaking.
However, it is important to note that these tests were conducted under controlled conditions. In the real world, the phone may be more susceptible to damage. In other words, if you drop your phone on concrete, the screen can still break, and you may have to pay a small fortune to get it repaired. Therefore, the best option for all of us is to use a case and screen protector while using your phone.

Portugal’s telecoms watchdog, ANACOM, joins forces with major operators to enforce a high-level resolution aimed at excluding Huawei Technologies’ equipment from its burgeoning 5G mobile networks. This move comes amidst legal objections from the Chinese tech giant, marking a substantial setback in Huawei’s ambitions to play a pivotal role in Portugal’s 5G market.
ANACOM, the National Communications Authority of Portugal, has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing decisions related to security, aligning not only with national objectives but also adhering to European guidelines. This cooperative effort with telecom operators, including Altice, NOS, and Vodafone, underscores Portugal’s dedication to bolstering the security of its 5G networks.
Portugal’s Consultative Council for Strategic Cybersecurity (CSSC), which advises the Prime Minister, adopted a resolution in May that refrained from explicitly mentioning Huawei but was widely perceived as a setback to Huawei’s plans. The resolution, founded on a rigorous and independent security assessment in line with European Union guidelines, has prompted Portugal’s major operators to eschew Huawei equipment in their 5G core networks.
Huawei, a global leader in telecom equipment manufacturing, responded to these developments by filing a lawsuit in a Lisbon court at the end of August, seeking legal protection for its legitimate interests. The legal dispute adds another layer of complexity to the evolving situation.
The CSSC’s resolution, while not directly targeting Chinese suppliers, reflects growing concerns in Europe and the United States regarding potential security compromises associated with Chinese involvement in critical infrastructure. Both Beijing and Huawei vehemently deny these allegations, but European and American apprehensions persist.
Mario Campolargo, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Digitalization and chair of the CSSC, has emphasized the meticulous and coordinated approach taken by the government and ANACOM in addressing these security concerns. The close collaboration between these entities underscores their shared commitment to safeguarding Portugal’s telecommunications infrastructure.
ANACOM’s President, Joao Cadete de Matos, expressed confidence in the successful execution of the resolution and stressed the need to await the development of the Huawei lawsuit. This ongoing legal battle further highlights the intricate nature of the situation and its potential implications for Huawei’s presence in Portugal’s telecom sector.
It has been almost three years since Huawei and Honor went their separate ways. If you recall, Huawei faced significant challenges in the smartphone market due to the U.S. sanctions imposed in 2019. The company suffered a major blow, losing nearly all of its market share outside of China. Struggling even to produce phones under its own brand, and sold its sub-brand Honor to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology to “ensure” its survival.
Years have passed, and both companies have continued independently of each other. However, recent rumors have surfaced, claiming that the separation is over and that Honor will rejoin Huawei. Honor’s CEO Zhao Ming recently addressed these claims. Here are the details…
Honor CEO Zhao Ming says return to Huawei is impossible, Honor wants to be Huawei’s strongest competitor
Of course, the online rumors suggesting that Huawei and Honor will reunite are not true. Honor’s CEO, Zhao Ming, has explicitly denied any plans for Honor to rejoin Huawei. He stated that such a reunion is “absolutely impossible” and described Huawei as Honor’s “most respected and anticipated competitor.” According to Ming, when a company faces a strong competitor, there are generally two options: either join forces with the competitor or compete against them. Zhao Ming believes that merging with Huawei would ultimately weaken

The other choice is to become the competitor’s strongest rival. Zhao Ming said that this is what Honor’s employees are most excited about. Zhao Ming said that Honor is committed to innovation, and that it will continue to develop products that are lighter, thinner, and more powerful than its competitors. He also said that Honor is looking forward to competing with Huawei, which will help to drive innovation in the industry.
Ming also said that Honor invests more than 10% of its revenue in research and development. This investment has helped Honor to develop its own unique technologies, such as its “Eye Protector” display and its “Shark” charging technology. Zhao Ming said that he hopes that former Huawei employees will be proud of Honor’s success. He said that Honor’s goal is to be Huawei’s strongest competitor, and that this is the best way to honor the company’s past relationship with Huawei.
Thus, these baseless rumors that inevitably surface at least once a year have been debunked. Unfortunately, Huawei and Honor won’t be reuniting anytime soon to restore the Chinese tech giant to former glory.

Garmin is back with an upgraded Tactix 7 series of smartwatches, more than a year and a half after its initial release. The original Tactix 7 series all shared a transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display. The new smartwatch in the series features an AMOLED display. Keep reading to know more about this model.
Garmin Tactix 7 AMOLED smartwatch specs & features
The new addition to the Tactix 7 series, the Tactix 7 AMOLED, lives up to its name by swapping the MIP technology for an AMOLED display. This change brings a more vibrant and versatile display, boasting a native resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, in contrast to the 280 x 280 pixels of the previous models.
One standout feature of the Tactix 7 AMOLED is its support for an always-on display (AOD) mode, a common feature in modern smartwatches. However, enabling this mode reduces the battery life from 31 days to 11 days. If you opt to keep both AOD and GPS active, the estimated runtime drops further to 58 hours.
While the display has seen an upgrade, other key features remain unchanged. These include 10 ATM water resistance, access to Garmin’s smartwatch software suite, and a sapphire display lens paired with a titanium body. Notably, the Tactix 7 series continues to feature a 51 mm case size.
Price & avialability
The Tactix 7 AMOLED is now available for purchase in various markets, including the US, with a retail price of $1,399.99 (Amazon).
Samsung seems ready to launch its third fan edition smartphone— the Galaxy S23 FE. The handset has been leaking a lot recently and we have also seen its marketing material. Most specifications of the S23 FE have already been revealed through leaks. However, Samsung is still keeping quite about the handset’s launch. While we wait, the Galaxy S23 FE has been spotted on Google Play Console with Snapdragon and Exynos chips. The listing also reveals key specifications of the device.
The Galaxy S23 FE is reportedly coming in two flavors— one with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and the other with Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 SoC. Google Play Console now confirms these reports, listing the S23 FE in Samsung r11q and Samsung r11s variants. The r11q model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with Adreno 730 GPU, while the r11s model has the Exynos 2200 chipset. Other than the CPU and GPU, all the other specs are the same for both variants.
The listing also reveals the Galaxy S23 FE will come with at least 8GB of RAM and run Android 13 on the software front. We also see the renders of the smartphone, which match recent leaks. As per previous reports, the handset sports a 6.3-inch AMOLED display and a 10MP selfie shooter on the front, while the rear features a 50MP triple camera setup.
A 4,500mAh battery pack should power this device which will support 25W charging. Apart from Google Play Console, the Galaxy S23 FE has also surfaced on other certification platforms like NBTC, TDRA, Bluetooth SIG, BIS, and more.
