Performance

iQOO

The iQOO Neo 7 Pro has been officially confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. This marks a significant upgrade compared to its predecessors, the iQOO Neo 6 Pro and iQOO Neo 7, which featured the Snapdragon 870 and MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, respectively. The performance of the Neo 7 Pro is expected to be impressive, as iQOO has teased that it can achieve over 1.3 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark. This claim is supported by a leaked benchmark result, revealing a score of 1,316,514 points for the device. This is particularly beneficial for gamers seeking since the GPU performance of the device is leagues above the other two.

If that was not enough, iQOO is also throwing in an independent gaming chip that will guarantee stable and high framerates while gaming. According to leaks, the iQOO Neo 7 Pro 5G is expected to be available in two configurations: 8 GB RAM with 128 GB of storage and 12 GB RAM with 256 GB of storage. These configurations are likely to feature LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, providing users with fast and efficient performance.

The brand has hinted that users will be able to charge their devices from 0 to 50% in a mere 8 minutes. Given the high-powered specifications, efficient cooling will be crucial to maintain optimal temperatures. To address this, it is rumored that the device will incorporate a VC Cooling system with a size of 4013mm², ensuring effective heat dissipation. iQOO 11S Roundup: Everything from Specs, Design to Expected Pricing

iQOO flagships are a great option if you want the latest and greatest mobile hardware without breaking the bank. The phones from this Vivo subsidiary are typically more affordable than other brands with similar features, making them a great value for money. The recently released iQOO 11 is a good example of this, offering a solid balance of price and specifications. The upcoming iQOO 11S is expected to follow suit.

iQOO 11S is the latest flagship smartphone from the brand, scheduled to launch in China on July 4. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and also features a dedicated display chip. While the launch is just a few days away, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming iQOO 11S.

Design and Display

You will find some nice-to-have upgrades on the iQOO 11S, but design is not one of them. The smartphone essentially retains the same look as the iQOO 11, featuring a large camera island. It will be available in three color options, one of which will be the result of the continued collaboration between iQOO and the BMW M division (M for Motorsport). This version will showcase the iconic BMW three-stripes logo on its vegan leather-clad back. Other than this, you also get green and black color options.

Regarding the overall design, the iQOO 11S features a slightly curved back with a rectangular camera bump. The camera module gets three rings aligned in an L shape. The presence of the V2 branding on the back confirms that the smartphone uses Vivo’s V2 ISP, enhancing camera performance. Although the front of the device has not been unveiled by the company yet, you can expect to see a center-punched hole for the selfie camera and thin bezels.

iQOO-11S-color-options

Official teasers reveal that the iQOO 11S will feature an E6 AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 2K resolution, a pixel density of 517 PPI, and a peak brightness of up to 1800 nits. Similar to the vanilla model, the iQOO 11S’s screen will also support both PWM and DC dimming. Although the exact dimensions are yet to be confirmed, it is expected to feature the 6.78-inch screen from the iQOO 11.

The iQOO 11S is claimed to surpass the other two models in the series with a dedicated display chip. Official information posted on Weibo reveals that the smartphone will feature the world’s first super-computing dedicated display processor. This chip is expected to assist the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip in distributing the workload and improving the smartphone’s overall performance.

Other Specifications

Rumors were rampant that the iQOO 11S would come equipped with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. However, these rumors were put to rest when iQOO confirmed that the smartphone would continue to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC clocked at 3.2GHz, without opting for the overclocked 3.36GHz version. This decision is not surprising, as both the iQOO 11 and 11 Pro also utilize the same processor with identical clock speeds. The handset will also feature VC cooling technology.

The iQOO 11S smartphone will come with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The company has confirmed that one of the configurations will have 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It will also offer up to 8GB of virtual RAM. According to a report from last month, the iQOO 11S will be available in four configurations: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 16GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 16GB RAM + 512GB storage.

iQOO is pushing the limits of fast charging with the iQOO 11S. The phone supports 200W charging, which can fully charge the battery in just 5 minutes. This means you can go from 0% to 100% in the time it takes to make a cup of coffee. The iQOO 11S is also compatible with third-party UFCS chargers, so you can use your existing charger or buy a new one from iQOO. To ensure safety and reliability, the iQOO 11S uses a new boron nitride material that helps to reduce the temperature of the battery protection board. The battery capacity on the device is expected to be 4,700mAh.

The iQOO 11S may have a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 primary camera with OIS support. Other camera details are not yet known. The phone will run Android 13 with Funtouch OS skin on top.

Expected Pricing

There have been no leaks regarding the price of the iQOO 11S. Since it packs some decent upgrades over the vanilla model, you can expect it to cost more. For your reference, the iQOO 11 comes in three configurations in India. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration costs $710. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration costs $800. And the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage trim is priced at $920.

From Green and Pink to White: The display woes of Samsung smartphones continue

A new issue has surfaced in the Samsung smartphone lineup, with the appearance of a white line on the display. This time, the problem has affected a Samsung Galaxy A71, marking a departure from the previous cases involving green, pink, or purple lines seen on flagship models like the Galaxy S20 Plus, Note 20 Ultra, and S21 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy A71 White line issue

Similarities with Previous Display Problems on Samsung Flagships

A user took to Twitter to report the presence of a white vertical line on their Samsung Galaxy A71’s display. Notably, the device had not been dropped or damaged prior to the appearance of the line. In response to the issue, Samsung requested the user’s contact details through direct message, following their usual protocol for addressing consumer complaints.

This incident comes shortly after Samsung provided a free screen replacement for Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users who experienced green and pink line problems following a June 2023 software update. The issue seems to extend beyond India and affects various Samsung models equipped with OLED screens from Samsung Display.

While Samsung has not officially acknowledged the problem, their swift action in replacing affected OLED screens and batteries at no cost suggests a potential fault with either the software or the screen itself. The appearance of a white line on the display of the Galaxy A71 highlights the need for further investigation into the underlying causes of these screen issues.

Google Play Store 36.4.15 Apk now rolling out to Android devices

Google has recently rolled out version 36.4.15 of the Google Play Store for Android devices. While no explicit changelogs were provided, visible changes in the update offer valuable insights into the improvements made.

Google Play Store

Download Play Store Apk

The new update, compatible with Android devices running Android 5+, is available for download with varying file sizes depending on the device. Although the update will install automatically in the background, users also have the option to manually download it for seamless integration.

One significant visual change in this July update is the introduction of blue accents throughout the Google Play Store, replacing the long-standing green. This shift suggests a potential departure from the partial dynamic color and Material You integration, previously limited to the home screen. The presence of blue accents in a test build from March 2023 indicates Google’s anticipated release of full dynamic color support in the near future.

In the previous June update, Google focused on enhancing three key areas of the Google Play Store. The changes primarily revolved around search results and ad formats, with optimizations tailored to app-specific searches for a more efficient browsing experience. The loading latency of ads on the home page was also reduced, resulting in smoother navigation. Furthermore, user reviews received improvements by highlighting critical information in certain search results, empowering users to make more informed decisions when downloading apps.

Google’s regular updates for the Google Play Store aim to maintain application safety, user-friendliness, and bug elimination. As part of its commitment to user data privacy, Google introduced a feature two months ago that allows users to erase their data from specific apps.

Overall, the latest Google Play Store update introduces visual changes through blue accents, builds upon previous optimizations, and emphasizes user privacy and security. These updates contribute to an enhanced browsing experience for Android users.

ASUS ROG Ally Survives JerryRigEverything’s Bend Test But Disappoints In Other Aspects

ASUS launched the ROG Ally handheld gaming console last month. It competes against the Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, and Razr Edge. Now, the ASUS ROG Ally has undergone JerryRigEverything’s comprehensive durability tests Read on to know how it fairs.

ASUS ROG Ally durability test

Zack reveals that right after he starts a game, the dual fans inside the ASUS ROG Ally start spinning and within minutes the screen gets hot as well as the air coming out of the fans becomes uncomfortable. This is likely a temperature issue that might be fixed via an update in the near future. The YouTuber proceeds to a scratch test where the handheld console develops scratches at level 6 and deeper grooves at level 7. The device has Gorilla Glass Victus and there is also a DXC coating on the top to reduce glares. The latter changes the bright White color of the desk lamp to a slightly Yellower shade reducing reflections.

Zack says that the rear strip on the ROG Ally is illuminated but it is simply a color-changing holographic sticker. The YouTuber then moves to check the durability of the handheld gaming console’s body with his knife. He begins with a joystick that is quite grippy and coated with rubber ensuring long-term durability. The direction controller, menu buttons, and trigger pads are all made up of plastic which is easily prone to scratches. The ABXY buttons on the right side of the handheld console are also prone to scratches, however, the letters are under a transparent layer. Notably, the ‘Y’ button got stuck when pushed harder and had to be rotated which is quite uncommon.

The RGB holographic logo at the bottom corner also gets scratched and the colorful strip on the back panel can also be removed but Zack says that it won’t come out on its own. The ASUS ROG Ally withstands flames for just 3 seconds after which the part of the screen becomes Black. Normally, it takes 10 seconds to restore the dead pixels but the device takes a bit longer because it is quite hot.

Lastly, Zack tries to bend the ASUS ROG Ally with an ample amount of pressure. When bending from the back side, both edges of the device are seen separating at the corner. The handheld gaming console is then bent from the front side but it refuses to snap. However, the separation of the device seems a little concerning.

Apple Becomes the World’s First $3 Trillion Company

In a groundbreaking achievement, Apple has become the first publicly traded company to close a trading day with a remarkable $3 trillion market value. Boosted by a 2.31% increase in its shares on Friday, the tech giant has witnessed an exceptional surge, with its stock skyrocketing by nearly 46% this year. This remarkable milestone is even more significant considering that Apple’s market cap had temporarily surpassed $3 trillion in January 2022 but failed to close at that level.

Apple

Stronger Than Expected: Apple’s Resilient Performance, Reinforcing Investor Confidence

The driving force behind Apple’s remarkable stock market success in 2023 has been its flagship product, the iPhone. Since its introduction by the late Steve Jobs in 2007, the iPhone has played a pivotal role in Apple’s incredible journey. With cumulative sales exceeding 2 billion units, the iPhone continues to be a major contributor to the company’s annual revenue, accounting for almost half of it.

Apple’s dominance in the smartphone market is evident both in the United States and China. In the US, all top five best-selling smartphones belong to the iPhone, commanding over 50% of the market share. Similarly, in the Chinese market, the iPhone holds a significant advantage, occupying four out of the top five spots.

Despite recent market challenges, Apple has maintained its resilience. In the second quarter of the 2023 fiscal year, iPhone revenue reached an impressive $51.334 billion, surpassing the same period’s performance from the previous year and setting a new record for a single quarter.

While the tech industry’s focus has gravitated towards artificial intelligence (AI), Apple has pursued its own path, with limited emphasis on the emerging technology. This sets Apple apart from its competitors, such as Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, and Meta, which have embraced AI wholeheartedly. Notably, four other US companies, including Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, and Nvidia, currently boast valuations exceeding $1 trillion.

Apple’s success can be attributed to a combination of factors, including the recent launch of the highly anticipated Apple Vision Pro, an augmented reality (AR) headset set to go on sale next year for $3,499. With this release, Apple aims to revolutionize the AR industry.

The company’s stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings in May further solidified its reputation among investors. Despite a slight decline in sales and profit, Apple’s performance demonstrated resilience and reaffirmed its position as a tech industry leader.

As Apple continues to innovate and capture market share, it is poised to maintain its impressive trajectory, shaping the future of technology with its groundbreaking products and unwavering customer loyalty.
