During the Honor 90 and 90 Pro launch event last month, Honor also unveiled its new X5 TWS earbuds with basic features and a 27-hour battery. Surprisingly, the company has now unveiled a new pair of wireless earbuds that cost peanuts in comparison to the X5 but offer much better specifications. They offer active noise cancellation up to 30dB, a longer-lasting 35-hour battery, and even the design looks sleeker. Here are the details.
Honor Earbuds X5s are a steal deal
The new Honor X5s earbuds support up to 30 dB of active noise cancellation and also feature a transparency mode that allows you to hear environmental noise. You can easily switch between these two modes as per your preference. To remind you, the Honor X5 earbuds lacked ANC and debuted with Environmental noise cancellation, which barely offers any utility.
The new headset features an in-ear design and is equipped with a 10mm driver unit. It supports ENC dual microphone call noise reduction and AAC high-definition codec. Inside the earbuds, there is a dual-mode Bluetooth 5.3 chip for connectivity, and it is also IP54 dustproof and waterproof.
When you connect the new TWS earbuds to an Honor mobile phone, they support quick pairing by opening the pop-up window. You can customize the touch and sound settings in the Honor Smart Space App. The new earbuds come with an oval charging case that features a USB-C charging port. They provide 9 hours of battery life when used individually and can reach a total of 35 hours of battery life with the charging case.
Now, let’s look at the price. The Honor X5s earbuds are currently listed on Jingdong at a price of 119 Yuan, which is approx. $16. This pricing is remarkably competitive for a pair of earbuds that offer active noise cancellation. In fact, it seems almost too good to be true, especially considering that the Honor X5 earbuds were initially launched in China with a price tag of 299 Yuan, around $40. Note that both earbuds aren’t available outside China yet.
AMD might be working on a new budget CPU under the Ryzen 5 series. The alleged Ryzen 5 5600X3D, based on the Zen 3 architecture, has been spotted online. It comes with a special 3D V-cache technology and has 6 cores and 12 threads. The processor has a base clock speed of 4.4 GHz and a boost clock speed of 3.3 GHz. The new CPU could offer powerful performance with an affordable price tag, similar to Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D Specifications
Twitter user chi11eddog has shared an image comparing the specs of the rumored Ryzen 5 5600X3D with the 5800X3D. The CPU is expected to feature six cores and twelve threads, with each core having 512KB of L2 cache, totaling 3MB. It will have 32MB of planar cache and 64MB of stacked 3D cache. The CPU should have a base clock of 3.3GHz and a boost clock of 4.4GHz.
To compare, the 5800X3D offers eight cores, sixteen threads, and 4MB of L2 cache. It operates at a base clock speed of 3.4GHz and a boost clock speed of 3.5GHz. Both the Ryzen 5 5600X3D and the 5800X3D have a thermal design power (TDP) of 65W.
The Ryzen 5 5600X3D could be a tempting option in the budget segment. It could deliver approximately 85% of the gaming performance of the 5800X3D while consuming only around 50W of power (Via Hardware Times). Currently, there is no news regarding the launch date of this upcoming CPU. However, considering that all the specifications for the CPU appear to be confirmed, it is highly likely that the 5600X3D will be released in the near future.
The Galaxy Watch 6 series will consist of two models: the Galaxy Watch 6 40mm and the Galaxy Watch 6 44mm. Additionally, a new variant called the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will be introduced. Notably, these devices will offer larger battery capacities compared to their predecessors.
Improved Battery Performance: Galaxy Watch 6 vs. Previous Models
According to various certification listings, the Galaxy Watch 6 40mm will be equipped with a 300 mAh battery, while the 44mm variant will boast a 425 mAh battery. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 5 series had battery capacities of 284 mAh for the 40mm model and 410 mAh for the 44mm model. The Galaxy Watch 4 series had even smaller capacities, with 247 mAh for the 40mm model and 361 mAh for the 44mm model.
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is expected to feature the same 425 mAh battery as the 44mm variant of the Galaxy Watch 6. South Korean consumers can look forward to the G95SC variant being available from July 3, with the G93SC variant set to launch sometime later next month.

A former executive at Samsung Electronics, one of South Korea’s leading tech companies, has been indicted on charges of stealing company technology to establish a rival chip factory in China. The defendant, who also worked as a vice president at SK Hynix, another prominent chipmaker, is accused of illegally obtaining Samsung’s data with the intention of constructing a copycat facility just 1.5 km away from a Samsung chip manufacturing plant in Xian, China.
Six Others Charged in Connection with Chip Technology Espionage
Prosecutors have estimated that the theft of data has resulted in losses worth at least $233 million for Samsung Electronics. This incident is viewed as a significant threat to national economic security, as South Korea’s chip industry faces intensifying competition amid the ongoing rivalry between the United States and China.
The defendant, who was arrested last month, denies the allegations made against him. The trial date is yet to be confirmed by the court handling the case. Prosecutors have also indicted six other individuals believed to be involved, including an employee from an inspection company accused of leaking Samsung’s semiconductor factory’s architectural plan.
This development comes at a time when South Korea is actively supporting its chip sector. Both Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, the world’s top two memory chip manufacturers, have invested heavily in chip factories in China. While these companies rely on U.S. technology and equipment, approximately 40% of South Korea’s chip exports are directed to China.
Although China initially lagged behind in memory chip production, its firms have quickly caught up to South Korean competitors. Analysts estimate that the technology gap between NAND Flash chips produced by China’s YMTC and industry leaders like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix is now only two years or less.
To prevent technology leaks, South Korean companies typically develop cutting-edge chips in their home country before manufacturing them in their Chinese factories after a year or so. South Korea has been increasingly cracking down on corporate spying in recent months, as evident from the recent arrests of 77 individuals involved in 35 cases of suspected industrial espionage across various sectors.
At Apple’s annual worldwide developer conference (WWDC) that took place last week, the Cupertino-based tech giant made a host of announcements. One of the announcements was about the much-rumored mixed reality headset called Apple Vision Pro which the company unveiled at the event. It packs ground-breaking specifications and features but carries a whopping price tag of $3,499 making it impossible to position for mass adoption.
Apple working on an affordable mixed-reality headset
Now in a new development, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is working on a cheaper model of the Vision Pro headset. This will make the device more accessible to the masses. The future headset could be called Vision or Vision One. The Cupertino-based tech giant could make several adjustments to lower the price. This includes the usage of lower-tier screens, less powerful processors, cutting down and, on the number of cameras. The next headset could also require AirPods for spatial audio feature instead of a built-in speaker.
Alongside the adjustments to reduce the cost of the next Vision headset, Apple will also aim to retain some of the core features such as the external EyeSight screen and the hand-tracking system.
Gurnam adds that Apple plans to launch the cheaper model of the Vision Pro by the end of 2025 which is two years from now. A second-generation Vision Pro is also said to be in the pipeline.
The report also revealed that Apple was initially thinking of delaying the announcement of the Vision Pro’s price due to negative publicity but decided to give everyone nine months’ time to absorb the cost before the headset hits the market.
Apple’s mixed reality headset is making headlines again. Last time we talked about it, we discussed the possibility of the company not being able to use the Vision Pro name in China. Now, the mixed reality headset is making headlines because of its hardware and costs. The headset, which was announced at WWDC 2023, is expected to sell for $3,499. However, it is reportedly only costing Apple $1,519 to make. This is because the company relies on Sony for supplying high-cost micro-OLED panels for the headset, while LG Display provides regular OLED panels for the external display. Here are the details…
Apple Vision Pro to Feature Sony Internal Displays, LG Display External Displays
We all know that the Apple Vision Pro is expected to be expensive. Apple has announced a price of $3,499, but recent leaks have revealed that the actual production cost is less than half of that, at $1,519. Of course, this is just the production cost, and does not include other expenses such as research and development, marketing, and customer support. However, this doesn’t change the fact that even manufacturing this product is expensive. Apparently, one of the major reasons for the high cost is Sony’s latest technology micro-OLED panels.
According to the latest reports, Apple Vision Pro, will have two different types of displays. The internal display will use Sony’s micro-OLED panels, while the external display will use regular LG OLED panels. Micro-OLED panels are considered to be the best type of display for XR headsets, as they offer superior image quality and contrast. However, they are also more expensive than regular OLED panels. As a result, Apple is using Sony’s micro-OLED panels for the internal display.
Sony has been a pioneer in the development of micro-OLED panels. The company first developed micro-OLED panels for use in its PlayStation Vita handheld gaming console in 2011. In recent years, Sony has continued to develop micro-OLED panels for use in a variety of products, including its Xperia smartphones and its Aibo robotic dog.
On the other hand, LG Display is the world’s leading manufacturer of OLED panels. The company has been producing OLED panels for use in TVs, smartphones, and other products for over a decade. LG Display’s OLED panels are known for their high quality and their ability to offer deep blacks and vibrant colors.
The Maimang brand was introduced as a collaboration between Huawei and China Telecom. As the former was banned from selling 5G devices, it transferred the ownership wholly to the latter in 2022.
Since then, the carrier has been releasing 5G-enabled handsets. The latest one called Maimang 20 was just launched in April.
Two months later, the operator has confirmed to debut yet another phone later this week.
The upcoming Maimang-branded smartphone is officially called Maimang A20 5G. It is scheduled to launch on June 15.
The teaser poster for the phone reveals its main camera. It also slightly showcases the design.
From the image, we can tell that the handset will sport a 50MP main camera. Further, its design resembles the Huawei Enjoy 50z (aka Huawei Nova Y61) from last year.
Thus, there’s a chance that Maimang A20 5G could be a 5G version of Enjoy 50z for China Telecom customers.
If this is the case, then we can expect the device to arrive with a 6.52-inch HD+ display with a dewdrop notch. It may have two 2MP sensors for macro and depth on the rear and a 5MP front-facing camera.
For biometrics, it will likely feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Finally, it could be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W wired charging.
Anyways, we will know everything about this product soon as it is only a few days away from going official.
Google launched the Pixel Watch in October last year. Now, the search giant’s first-ever smartwatch is gaining a vital feature that should have been available since its launch. The feature is none other than the SpO2 measurement that is commonly found in most wearable devices today. Google has finally caught up to its competitors by activating it.
Pixel Watch now gets SpO2 measurement
A few Pixel Watch users took to Reddit to share images of the dedicated oxygen saturation card. It appears below the Sleep Score in the smartwatch’s Fitbit Today app and provides a percentage for the user’s ‘last sleep session’. Tapping on it reveals an additional explanation on what the score means. The Pixel Watch is already equipped with a sensor to measure SpO2 levels. However, the feature was not available probably due to the lack of FDA approval. A SpO2 sensor is capable of monitoring oxygen levels in the blood.
Prior to the latest feature on the Pixel Watch, users had to measure the estimated oxygen variation which indirectly measures the changes in blood oxygen saturation levels. However, a SpO2 sensor is a more reliable measurement of oxygen levels than EOV.
The rollout of the SpO2 measurement on Pixel Watch appears to be slow with only a small number of people receiving the functionality. But it’s great news for users since they are getting a vital feature. At the moment, it’s unclear how the function is rolling out but it should be available soon for everybody.
