Amazon Unveils Bedrock to Compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and DALL-E 2

Artificial intelligence technologies continue to take the internet by storm. ChatGPT currently leads the race, outpacing its competitors by a significant margin. Meanwhile, tech giants like Google are working hard to catch up with OpenAI’s innovative technology. In a recent development, Amazon joined the growing list of companies in the AI field. They announced the launch of Bedrock, a new cloud service on their Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, designed to provide developers with customizable AI tools for generating text and images. Here are the details…

Amazon Unveils Bedrock: A Cloud Service for AI-Generated Text and Images, Competing with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and DALL-E 2

Amazon has announced the launch of Bedrock, a new cloud service for its Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, aimed at providing developers with customizable AI tools for generating text and images. The service is designed to offer a cloud-based alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and DALL-E 2, catering to businesses and developers looking to build applications using generative AI models.

amazon bedrock AI

Bedrock enables AWS customers to access a range of AI models for various tasks such as writing, building chatbots, summarizing text, and classifying images based on text prompts. It offers a selection of foundation models, including Amazon’s Titan, as well as models from various startups. These include Anthropic’s Claude, a Google-backed ChatGPT competitor; AI21’s Jurassic-2, a language model specializing in European languages; and Stable Diffusion, a popular open-source image generator.

To address privacy concerns, Amazon has stated that it will not use user input for training the models. This ensures that businesses entering sensitive data can maintain their data privacy while using Bedrock’s services. The company’s focus on providing a variety of AI models aims to give customers more flexibility in choosing the right tool for their needs. According to Amazon’s official description, “With Bedrock’s serverless experience, you can get started quickly, privately customize FMs with your own data, and easily integrate and deploy them into your applications using the AWS tools and capabilities you are familiar with.”

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy highlighted the value of Bedrock for businesses in a recent CNBC interview: “Most companies want to use these large language models, but the really good ones take billions of dollars to train and many years, and most companies don’t want to go through that. So what they want to do is they want to work off of a foundational model that’s big and great already and then have the ability to customize it for their own purposes. And that’s what Bedrock is.”

Google Unveils First Public Beta of Android 14, Offering New UI Updates and More

The excitement for Android 14 continues to build. Recently, Google released the first public beta of Android 14 after two developer previews. This public beta offers a fantastic chance for users to test the new version, while also providing the company with an opportunity to receive valuable feedback. The big questions now are: when will Android 14 be released, and what new features can we expect in this version? Here are the details…

Google Unveils First Public Beta of Android 14

Google has released the first public beta of Android 14, following its two developer previews. As part of its predictable development cycle, this is the first of four planned public beta releases. Users with supported Pixel devices, starting from the Pixel 4a 5G (but excluding the Pixel 4), can now install the beta over-the-air. However, there’s no official support for non-Google phones just yet.

Google Android 14

As with any beta release, it’s important to remember that these are primarily intended for developers testing their apps against the new version and early adopters who can’t wait for a stable release. Therefore, expect potential issues and bugs as you navigate this new iteration of Android.

The first Android 14 beta doesn’t introduce a plethora of new features, but there are two user-facing UI updates worth mentioning. The first is a revamped back arrow, which Google highlights as part of the gesture navigation experience. The new back arrow is more prominent and designed to improve understanding and usefulness. Furthermore, it matches your wallpaper or device theme.

Developers can now also add custom actions to the system sharesheet, and the sharesheet itself will be more intelligent in ranking sharing targets. The update also brings per-app language settings and incorporates Google’s previously announced privacy settings.

While this first beta appears to be an evolutionary release, more details and user-facing features are expected to be announced at Google I/O next month. Until then, the Android 14 public beta serves as an intriguing glimpse into what’s in store for the next iteration of the popular mobile operating system.

Samsung Keyboard App was the Culprit for Major Battery Drain in OneUI 5.1 Update

Samsung users were left with a bad taste in their mouths following the release of the One UI 5.1 upgrade in February of this year. While the update brought with it some exciting features, many Galaxy handset owners experienced a major issue with their devices’ battery health. Reports started coming in from users who had updated to One UI 5.1 and had noticed a significant decline in their smartphones’ battery life. Some even reported odd heating issues that were more widespread among Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 series users.

Samsung Keyboard

Upon investigation, Samsung confirmed that it was indeed the Samsung Keyboard app that was causing the battery drain. According to the company, the app was using more battery than usual due to an “additional qualifying process (related to stickers and emojis).” While the exact details of this process remain unclear, Samsung has rolled out an update to address the issue.

For those who haven’t yet received the update, fear not. Samsung apps have an auto-update feature that keeps them up to date automatically. If you suspect that your Samsung Keyboard app isn’t up to date, simply head over to the Galaxy Store, navigate to Menu, select Updates, choose Samsung Keyboard, go to Settings, click About Samsung Keyboard, and tap on Update. With this simple fix, you can enjoy the benefits of One UI 5.1 without worrying about your device’s battery health.

Google Pixel 8 series case images emerge, corroborate previous leaks

Google is reportedly working on the Pixel 8 series of smartphones. The company is expected to unveil the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in October this year. The rumor mill has been actively leaking information about smartphones. In a new report, TechGoing has published case images of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones.

In March, the CAD renders of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro surfaced to give the first look at their design. The renders revealed that despite the fact that the Pixel 8 series will look similar to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, they will have subtle design changes.

The case images shared by the publication are in line with the leaks surrounding the Pixel 8 series. The transparent case of the Pixel 8 basically houses the CAD renders of Pixel 8. However, the case seems to have a cutout on the top edge for a microphone, some cutouts on the right edge for the power key and volume rocker, and some cutouts at the bottom for the USB-C port and speakers. The image also shows that the device has a raised camera bar that tapers towards the edges.

The Pixel 8 Pro’s purple case also shows it has a wider opening on the back, which will accommodate the triple camera system along with an LED flash and an unknown sensor. Like the Pixel 8’s case, the Pro model’s case tapers towards the edges of the camera bar.

In related news, Google’s 2023 I/O developers conference is scheduled to take place on May 10. At the event, it will shed information about the Android 14 OS. In addition, it is also expected to announce multiple devices, such as the Pixel 7a mid-range phone, the Pixel Tablet, and the Pixel Fold as its first foldable phone.

Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 May Have an Easily-removable Battery

Removable smartphone batteries make a huge difference for a variety of reasons. One of the most significant benefits is that they give users greater control over their devices. When a phone’s battery is removable, it can be easily replaced if it becomes damaged or starts to wear out. This means that users can keep their phones for longer without having to replace them entirely. Additionally, removable batteries can be swapped out for larger or higher-capacity batteries, which can extend the phone’s battery life and reduce the need for frequent charging.

Galaxy Z Fold 5

Samsung is taking a step forward in making battery replacement easier on their latest Galaxy models. The Galaxy S23 already made it simple with the addition of pull tabs that allow for easy removal, but now the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are following suit with battery packs that also have pull tabs for simple replacement. The documentation from South Korean regulatory agency Safety Korea included photos of the battery packs that measure their sizes, and all four battery packs have a pull tab for easy removal.

While the secondary battery for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a slightly lower capacity than its predecessor, it is possible that Samsung is counting on the efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset to improve battery life. It remains to be seen which battery packs will ultimately make it into these upcoming foldable models, but Samsung’s efforts towards easier battery replacement are certainly a step in the right direction.

RTX 4070 Graphics Card: A Game-Changer for 1440p Gaming?

On April 13, Nvidia launched its highly anticipated mid-high range graphics card model from its latest RTX 4000 series of GPUs. The new card is the GeForce RTX 4070, which arrives with various improvements over its predecessors. This is big news for gaming enthusiasts, who were waiting for this launch for quite a while now. The new graphics card offers a higher VRAM capacity over its predecessor with GDDR6X RAM along with 5,888 CUDA cores. Thanks to this, it offers up to 1.7 times faster than GeForce RTX 3070 Ti while also being 23 percent more power efficient. The Verge recently analyzed the card’s performance in popular gaming titles, and the results are quite interesting – especially with games that support Ray Tracing. Have a look for yourself.

NVIDIA RTX 4070

Testing was conducted on a variety of AAA games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and the card was compared to the RTX 3080, RTX 3070, RTX 3070 Ti, and RTX 4070 Ti. The RTX 4070 offers around 30% more speed than the previous RTX 3070 at 1440p, making it a worthwhile upgrade for gamers looking for a better experience. The card also offers similar performance to the RTX 3080, which is impressive. The step-up RTX 4070 Ti is about 25% better than the RTX 4070 at 1440p. However, in games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the RTX 4070 falls behind due to a bug affecting RTX 40-series cards in the benchmark that was used.

The RTX 4070 performs exceptionally well with DLSS 3, a new upscaling technique exclusive to the RTX 40-series cards. This technique uses AI to generate frames and results in a significant uplift in performance. Enabling DLSS 3 in Forza Horizon 5 increased frame rates by 25%, while Cyberpunk 2077 saw a near doubling of frame rates. However, the RTX 4070 falls behind the RTX 3080 at 4K, which is why Nvidia is marketing it as a 1440p card. If you’re looking for a solid card for 1440p gaming, the RTX 4070 is a great choice. It also comfortably beats the RTX 3070 at 4K.

Leaked: Major Changes Coming to iOS 17 – What You Need to Know!

Apple takes its iOS updates quite seriously, and for good reason. Firstly, iOS is a critical component of the Apple ecosystem, lying at the centre of iPhones, but also synchronized with other iPads, MacBooks and the Apple Watch. As a result, any changes made to iOS can have a significant impact on the user experience across all of these devices. Secondly, security is a major concern for Apple, and iOS updates often include important security patches and bug fixes that are designed to protect users from potential threats. The company is also known for its focus on design and user experience, and iOS updates often introduce new features and improvements that enhance the functionality and usability of its devices. The upcoming iOS 17 update for iPhones seems to be a culmination of these features, as a recent leak has shed light on various changes coming with the update.

iOS 17

While there are no official details, a recent Twitter thread from an anonymous leaker has suggested that iOS 17 will enhance the search functionality on the iPhone, following on from Apple’s previous enhancements to search with iOS 16. The leaker did not provide detailed information, but the expectation is that Apple will add significant changes with the new update. The Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro is also expected to gain numerous new additions with the iOS 17 release. This feature allows users to view and interact with widgets and other information on their home screen. As Apple is planning to introduce a pill-shaped cutout on all four models of the iPhone 15 series, it makes sense for the company to offer new features.

iOS 17 is also expected to bring further customization options for the Lock Screen, with more Focus modes, allowing users to tailor their interface to their personal preferences. The leaker also mentioned that iOS 17 will offer enhanced accessibility features, allowing users to customize the interface to cater to different features. Additionally, iOS 17 is expected to bring various changes to the Camera and Health apps. As Apple is also on the verge of unveiling its upcoming AR Headset, it is also slated to gain numerous ARKit frameworks.

Apple enthusiasts should take this information with a grain of salt, since these are leaks and the company might deviate from them at some point. Nonetheless, the update will be unveiled in a couple of months, on June 5, and official details will be available then.

DJI Inspire 3 drone with Zenmuse X9-8K Air announced; priced at $16,499

DJI has been making some of the best drones available in the market, and most of its products are aimed at a general audience. But the company has now launched a new drone, dubbed DJI Inspire 3, with a whopping price of $16,499.

The newly announced DJI Inspire 3 drone is a commercial-grade product with support for 8K recording and comes as a successor to the Inspire 2, which was launched a few years ago in 2016.

DJI Inspire 3

According to the company, the new drone is 20 percent more aerodynamic compared to its predecessor. The major upgrade comes in the form of a cinema camera known as Zenmuse X9-8K Air. It is claimed to be the lightest ever full-frame camera system and sues CineCore 3.0, a new image processing system from the company.

The camera can record 4K at 120fps in ProRes RAW and can deliver dual native ISO: 800 / 4000 for 30fps and below and 320 / 1600 for higher frame rates. There are more than 14 stops of dynamic range to fine-tune shots. The gimbal supports 80-degree tilting and full 360-degree rotation.

It can also record Apple ProRes RAW format in 8K at 75fps, a first for a DJI product. But the feature isn’t enabled by default, and to use ProRes RAW and CinemaDNG, the user will need to purchase a license key worth $979 to unlock them. It also supports interchangeable lenses from a lineup of its DL-mount lenses.

The drone comes with a new remote control, RC Plus, supporting dual-control mode where one user can control just the cinema camera, and the other can pilot the drone using a front first-person view (FPV) camera. The FVP camera has an ultrawide lens (161-degree) sitting in front of a night vision sensor.

Going through the list of features offered in DJI Inspire 3 and the starting price of $16,499, it is clear that the product is aimed at cinema production. The combo package will be available for purchase by the end of June, as per the company.
