Roborock G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner with a 6kPa suction power and four-zone double-vibration function released in China

Xiaomi’s ecological chain partner Roborock has unveiled the Roborock G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner with four-zone double-vibration mopping. The new Roborock self-cleaning robot features a 6,000 Pa suction for top-level cleaning. It comes in two options – manual or automatic water change versions. The Roborock G20 sweeping robot is equipped with a powerful dual-drive module with improved sweeping and dragging functions.

Roborock G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The G20 comes with innovative double-helix rubber brushes and dual-vibration mopping in four zones. It offers improvements in cleaning difficult locations within the room effectively. The added power provided by the suction system of the G20 ensures that all areas of the room are efficiently cleaned. The Roborock G20 can simultaneously shovel or suction the dirt to achieve a double roll and double shovel effect. The hair treatment effect of the new robot is stronger than the single brush featured in previous iterations of the robot sweeper.

Roborock G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The Roborock G20 adopts an oblique spiral design that effectively prevents dirt, including hair strands, from affecting its operation. Any hair strands wrapped around the main brush are transferred to the hair storage bin, essentially bypassing manual cleaning of the compartment.

The Roborock G20 is the first to feature the four-zone dual-vibration mopping, with an enlarged vibration area. The 3000rpm motor of the gadget provides high-frequency vibration that effectively reaches all previously difficult-to-reach areas like deep floor gaps and rough porcelain surfaces.

Roborock G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The G20 has a high-energy base station and offers automatic mop washing, automatic drying, dust collection, cleaning, and water replenishment. It also offers an automatic anti-bacterial function among other features. The self-cleaning module is significantly faster than the previous generation of Roborock models. It simulates active hand washing through the high-speed brush to achieve a deeper and more effective cleaning. The G20 features a robust obstacle avoidance algorithm using AI obstacle avoidance 3.0.

Roborock G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The Roborock G20 sweeping robot is available on retail platforms in China such as JD.com. The price of the manual water change version is 4,999 yuan (~$727) while the automatic water change version retails at 5,599 yuan (~$815).

Moto G Stylus (2023) leaked Marketing Images reveal the Design & Specifications

Motorola stands out as one of the few smartphone manufacturers that offer stylus support in their devices. The Moto G Stylus from last year gained popularity among users who enjoy jotting down notes or sketches on their phones. This year, the brand is preparing to release the 2023 edition of the Moto G Stylus, which is rumored to feature various upgrades. Though an official launch is yet to be confirmed, marketing images of the device have surfaced online, unveiling its design and specifications.

Marketing images of the upcoming Moto G Stylus (2023), shared by The Tech Outlook, showcase the smartphone with a curved back and a squircle camera module. It can be seen that the device has a dual camera setup and an LED flash. The text on the camera module says the main camera of the device will be 50MP. On the front, the smartphone will get a hole-punched display with thin bezels all around.

The stylus casing is visible on the bottom of the smartphone alongside the speaker grille and USB-C Type C port. Some readers will be happy to know that the handset also features a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom.

The publication says the Moto G Stylus (2023) will have a 6.5-inch display that offers an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It could have 64GB of native storage and a microSD card for expanding the storage even further. Further, the handset will be fueled by a 5,000mAh battery, likely with 10W charging support.

The rear camera setup of the handset is claimed to be capable of capturing detailed portrait shots, close-up shots, and low-light images. While the report did not reveal the processor of the handset, a recent Geekbench listing suggested it will be powered by the Helio G88 chipset under the hood.

Affordable Moto G13 could make its India Debut Next Week

Earlier this month, Motorola launched the mid-range Moto G73 smartphone in the Indian market with a decent processor and 120Hz display. Now, it has been reported that the Lenovo-owned company may soon follow it up with another G series device— Moto G13. The handset will likely be priced lower than the G73 and offer an FHD+ display with a 5,000mAh battery. While we wait for an official announcement, a report has seemingly revealed the India launch timeline of the phone.

91Mobiles Hindi, citing retail sources, claims that Motorola will launch the Moto G13 smartphone in India as early as next week. The publication did not reveal the exact date and there’s no official confirmation from the brand yet. Moto G13 is already official in the global market and it carries a price tag of EUR 179.

Moto-G13

The Indian pricing of the handset is still anyone’s guess. We expect it to cost less than Rs 12,000 in the country. This pricing will make the Moto G13 an ideal choice for those who are looking for a reliable budget smartphone with clean software. It will likely have the same specifications as its global counterpart, meaning we could see a 6.5-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a 90Hz high refresh rate, 1600 X 720 pixels resolution, and 20:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it could get a MediaTek Helio G85 processor and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging (you read that right). The 4G handset should run Android 13 OS out of the box and include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC. Moto G13 is expected to get 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

It could get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. For photography, the Moto G13 may feature a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro unit. The front of the handset could have an 8MP snapper for selfies and video chats.

Apple iPhone 15 to feature USB-C port, but it’s not all good news

The iPhone 15 series is set to launch later this year and Apple has long been rumored to finally adopt the USB Type-C standard. While many would rejoice this change, it appears that there is a big catch as per a known analyst.

In the current smartphone market, the Cupertino based giant is the only brand that does not feature this port format on its handset offering (although some of its other product line does feature this standard). For those unaware, Apple is making this notable change to comply with the European Union’s ruling to set a standard port across the industry. While we already know that the company will be adopting USB-C for its iPhones, known analyst Ming Chi-Kuo believes that it isn’t all good news.

Apple

Kuo has just shared some predictions, which claim that the iPhone 15 lineup’s USB-C port will come with certain restrictions. He believes that the company will physically restrict the cables that users will be able to use with the new port. Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first report of Apple possibly “sabotaging” the USB-C port on the iPhone. A previous rumor had also hinted at various limitations on the new USB Type-C ports.

Apparently, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with the USB 3.2 ports. On the other hand, the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might rely on the slower and older USB 2.0 standard. Another aspect affected by this is data transfer speeds, with only the higher end models features high data transmission similar to the iPad, which only supports high 40GB/s data transfer on more expensive models. Meanwhile, the low tier iPads support just 480Mbps.

Samsung Experts Reveal How Ray Tracing Creates Realistic Graphics on Galaxy S23 Series

As the popularity oAs smartphones gain popularity, so does the demand for high-quality mobile games. Consumers now crave the same brilliant graphics from their PC and console games on their mobile devices, raising expectations for smartphone gaming performance. Samsung, aware of these needs, recently launched the Galaxy S23 series, boasting impressive graphics performance. A standout feature of the phone is Ray Tracing, commonly found in high-end graphics cards. Samsung experts have recently shed light on the Ray Tracing capabilities of the Galaxy S23 series. Here are the details…

Realistic Graphics in Real-Time: Samsung Experts Explain Ray Tracing for the Galaxy S23 Series

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series, unveiled on February 1, boasts one of the best and most powerful GPUs, enhancing performance by 41% compared to the previous version and featuring Ray Tracing. This cutting-edge rendering method produces graphic effects in real time by tracing rays of light.

The Galaxy S23 series’ GPU has specialized hardware to accelerate ray tracing simulations, similar to a desktop GPU. This allows for more realistic shadows and light reflections in mobile games. Jungwoo Kim, who managed GPU development for the series, described Ray Tracing as “the ultimate graphic rendering method. Ray Tracing is a complex simulation that traces how the optic nerve of an eye receives a ray of light after being reflected, refracted, or diffracted by an object,” said Kim. “It’s very similar to how light is actually processed.”

Joonyong Park, who managed GPU technical support for the new product, explained that previous rasterization techniques were limited, resulting in awkward and inaccurate expressions. Ray Tracing, on the other hand, simulates the actual effect of how shadows are formed, creating accurate and realistic onscreen graphics.

Since 2010, Samsung has worked to break down barriers between console, desktop, and mobile graphics by expanding the performance and range of its graphics API. By partnering with major industry players, Samsung has standardized its latest technology as the common API, allowing more companies to apply the technology to games and expand their ecosystems.

“In 2016, we standardized the next-generation graphics API called Vulkan released by the Khronos Group and succeeded in commercialization through the Galaxy S7,” said Kim. “But, we’ve been working on advanced GPU development with partners like Epic Games and Unity to optimize the performance of Android games since 2015, before Vulkan was integrated into Galaxy devices.”

With the rising popularity of cross-platform games, Samsung quickly applied desktop GPU technology to their mobile GPU. Park said, “With the rise in consumers demanding that the graphic quality on their mobile devices matches the quality of consoles, we’ve been preparing to offer Ray Tracing technology in mobile game engines since two years ago.”

Samsung is at the forefront of incorporating advanced technologies into their products, and their collaboration with industry leaders like Epic Games and Unity has optimized the performance of Android games. This collaboration paves the way for introducing Ray Tracing technology in mobile game engines. Park emphasized his team’s dedication and proactive efforts in adapting desktop GPU technology for mobile use, ensuring users enjoy a seamless and immersive gaming experience.

The integration of Ray Tracing technology into the Galaxy S23 series is just the beginning. Samsung plans to expand this technology across various mobile devices to enhance the gaming experience. Kim stated, “Our next goal is to find the optimal method to apply Ray Tracing in many mobile devices and provide a great gaming experience to the users.”

As more game developers adopt the new mobile GPU technology, the number of mobile games supporting Ray Tracing is expected to increase. Park mentioned they were “working very hard to apply Ray Tracing technology to more mobile games.”

With continued development and implementation of Ray Tracing technology, mobile gaming is set to become even more immersive and visually stunning. Samsung is leading the charge in revolutionizing mobile gaming graphics, paving the way for a new era of realistic and captivating gaming experiences on mobile devices.

For those unaware, Samsung had skipped its proprietary Exynos chips from its premium Galaxy S23 series this year in favor of Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. But now, a new rumor has suggested that the reportedly cancelled Exynos 2300 SoC might be taking on a new form. The Search Engine giant is apparently planning to use a modified version of the Exynos 2300 for its next generation of Tensor processor.

Google

In other words, it appears that Samsung has quietly been working on the Exynos 2300 despite not making it official. However, there are reports that Samsung’s semiconductor division is still working on a new flagship grade Exynos process codenamed Quadra. So, Quadra might be modified and used as a base for the Tensor 3 chipset. Based on a recent leak, the Exynos 2300 will feature a Cortex X3 prime core that has a 3.09GHz max clock speed, along with four Cortex A715 cores clocked at 2.65GHz and four efficiency Cortex A510 cores that clock in at 2.1GHz.

Unfortunately, this is all the information based on the recent rumors. Earlier reports had also hinted at the next gen Tensor chips being based off of Samsung’s 4nm process, so it is clear that both companies are working closely together for chip development. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.

Google Identifies Malware in Popular Chinese E-Commerce Giant Pinduoduo’s Apps

Google has flagged several apps made by Pinduoduo, a Chinese e-commerce giant with almost 800 million active users, as malware. The apps were found to contain malicious code that could monitor users, according to multiple Chinese security researchers. The company’s official app has been suspended from the Google Play Store while Google investigates the matter further.

Pinduoduo

An anonymous security researcher analyzed the apps and found that they were exploiting several zero-day vulnerabilities to hack users. The malicious apps were not available on Google Play but were found in the custom app stores of major phone manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi.

Google has set Google Play Protect to block users from installing malicious apps and to warn those who have them installed to uninstall them. Ed Fernandez, a Google spokesperson, said, “off-Play versions of this app that have been found to contain malware have been enforced on via Google Play Protect.”

It is important to note that Google Play is not available in China, which is why the malicious apps were not found on the Google Play Store. However, the fact that they were present in the custom app stores of major phone manufacturers raises concerns about their security protocols and screening processes.

Pinduoduo has not responded to requests for comment on the matter. The incident highlights the ongoing threat of malware and the importance of downloading apps only from trusted sources. Users should exercise caution when downloading apps from unknown sources and should ensure that their devices have appropriate security measures in place to protect against malware and other cyber threats.

Windows 11 on Surface Duo Project Receives Major Update Focused on Surface Slim Pen

Windows is one of the most popular operating systems in the world. Unfortunately, this popularity is limited to computers only. The company tried its luck in the smartphone market with Windows Mobile a few years ago but failed to achieve the desired success. However, there is an unofficial method for Surface Duo users to experience Windows on their devices. Most recently, the Windows 11 on Surface Duo project received an update focusing on the Surface Slim Pen. Here are the details…

Windows 11 on Surface Duo Project Received an Update

The Windows 11 on Surface Duo project has just released an update to version 2303.64. This update focuses on enhancing the compatibility and functionality of the Surface Slim Pen, as well as introducing DisplayPort support via USB-C. Despite the fact that Microsoft doesn’t manufacture a mobile device running Windows 11, tech enthusiasts have managed to force the PC operating system onto the Surface Duo. This project has been in development for over a year, and the latest update brings several exciting features for those willing to take the plunge. Key Features in the Update:

  • Surface Slim Pen charger updates: Users can now update the Surface Slim Pen charger by plugging it into the Surface Duo using a USB-C to C cable. This is necessary for the Surface Slim Pen 2 to charge in the cradle, provided the cradle is running the latest available firmware.
  • Enhanced Surface Slim Pen pairing: Placing the Surface Slim Pen into a connected charging cradle will automatically pair it with the Surface Duo, while removing it will automatically wake up the device.
  • Firmware updates for Surface Slim Pen 2: The pen will automatically update its firmware once connected to the device.
  • Shared touch drivers: Touch drivers are now shared between both devices, allowing for seamless interaction.
  • OTG device compatibility: Users can now use OTG devices effortlessly.
  • Charging improvements: Charging is back in this release, without the previous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issues.
  • Work in progress (WIP) updates: Improved calibration for pens and touch, DisplayPort support via USB-C, updated camera drivers, and an updated sensor driver for the Geomagnetic Orientation sensor.

While the Surface Duo is not intended to run Windows 11, those brave and tech-savvy enough to experiment with the PC operating system on the mobile device will enjoy a unique mobile experience. However, users should be aware that they may encounter bugs and limitations due to the unconventional setup.

For those who prefer to use the Surface Duo with Android as Microsoft intended, our Managing Editor Richard Devine recently reviewed the Surface Duo 2. He found that while the device wasn’t ideal as a phone, it made for an enjoyable tablet experience. Many of the pros and cons of the Surface Duo 2 also apply to the original Surface Duo.
