Meta Plans to Add AI to Whatsapp, Instagram and Messenger This Year

3 months into 2023, it is clear that the theme for tech products and services released this year is artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The competition from OpenAI’s ChatGPT has sparked tech giants such as Microsoft to release their new AI-powered Bing and Google to release Bard, the company’s newest AI model to the public. And Californian tech giant Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced that the tech conglomerate is looking to add AI into its current services such as Whatsapp, Instagram and Messenger this year.

Mack Zuckerberg, chairman of Meta Platforms and founder of Facebook, announced on social media that the company is creating a new top-level product group at Meta focused on generative AI to turbocharge their work in this industry. In the statement, Meta says that over the longer term, the company looks to focus on developing “AI personas” that can help people in a variety of ways.

The statement also expresses that AI could be integrated into the company’s current product portfolio such as Whatsapp, Messenger and Instagram. As quoted in the statement, Mark says, “We’re exploring experiences with text (like chat in WhatsApp and Messenger), with images (like creative Instagram filters and ad formats), and with video and multi-modal experiences.”

Besides that, a Bloomberg report notes that the AI team at Meta will be led by Ahmad Al-Dahle, who is a machine learning and artificial intelligence executive. He reports directly to Meta Chief Product Officer Chris Cox, which the report notes that it is a significant sign that the company intends to further integrate AI into its wide range of online products and services.

However, Meta reinstates that the company is still in its growth stage of AI, as it expresses that the company has a lot of foundational work to do before getting to the really futuristic experiences. As a closing note of the announcement, Mark Zuckerberg remarks that he is excited about all of the new things Meta will build along the way.

ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Monitor Now Available in China with 2K 240Hz OLED display

Back in January, Asus had shown off its latest premium gaming monitors at CES 2023, one of them is the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM monitor. Two months after its initial reveal, the monitor is now finally available in China for 8299 RMB (1200 USD).

As per an official Asus product listing, the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is the brand’s first Republic of Gamers 1440p OLED flat gaming monitor with an ultra-fast 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms response time.

At 27 inches, the gaming monitor features an anti-glare micro-textured coating by Asus that reduces reflections for a better viewing experience in all lighting conditions and delivers up to 1000 nits of peak brightness. The monitor is also fitted with a custom heatsink and a new internal layout to improve cooling, with optimized internal airflow channels and larger top vents for more even heat distribution on the back of the monitor. Compared to other 27-inch OLED gaming monitors, the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is 5% cooler on average, according to Asus.

Chinese tech news site, ITHome reports that the display supports smart voltage optimization, which ensures consistent brightness for each pixel by controlling the amount of voltage applied to each pixel. Asus worked closely with its display panel suppliers to determine the correlation between OLED brightness, voltage levels and operating temperature, to give gamers the best experience on their OLED monitors.

The monitor is also introduced with a new DisplayWidget Center by Asus ROG to allow users to easily change display functions and OLED settings using a mouse through an intuitive interface. Lastly, the gaming monitor is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 port, which can be connected to Xbox and PlayStation gaming consoles, compatibility with Nvidia’s G-SYNC synchronization technology, and support for HDR 10 for higher quality dynamic colour on your OLED display.

Qualcomm and Thales have announced the certification of the world’s first commercially deployable integrated SIM (iSIM) on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with the latest GSMA (Global Association for the Mobile Communications Industry) security certification. The new iSIM is fully compliant with the GSMA Remote SIM Provisioning standard, making its subscriptions remotely manageable through any standard platforms.

The iSIM enables the functionality of a SIM within a smartphone’s main processor, providing device makers further opportunities to save space and reduce build and supply chain costs while maintaining best-in-class security levels. The iSIM form factor complements existing SIM and eSIM designs, and research suggests that the market share will grow to 300 million by 2027, representing 19% of all eSIM shipments, according to Kaleido Intelligence.

According to leaks, the Moto G Power (2023)features a 6.5-inch display with a centered punch-hole. At the back of the phone, there are three cameras and an LED flash. The back cover also has the Motorola logo, but it does not double up as a fingerprint scanner. Instead, the fingerprint reader is embedded in the power button on the right-side frame of the phone, alongside the volume keys.

Unfortunately, the under-screen fingerprint reader that users have wanted for a long time will not appear in this model either. The bottom of the phone features a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, and speaker grille. The SIM card slot is probably located on the left side of the Moto G Power (2023).

The Moto G Power (2022) was launched with a MediaTek Helio G37 processor, 4GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. It was also packed with a 5,000mAh battery, a 50 Megapixel main camera, and an 8 Megapixel selfie camera. While the specifications for the Moto G Power (2023) have yet to be confirmed, fans are excited to see what Motorola has in store for them.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Could Outperform Apple’s A17 Bionic

Qualcomm is reportedly skipping the release of a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 as a mid-cycle refresh and is instead focusing on developing its next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. According to leaks from RGcloudS, the new chipset will maintain the 1 + 4 + 3 core configuration of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but will feature a new Cortex-X4 prime core that can be clocked up to 3.70GHz. This results in a 15% clock speed boost over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s Cortex-X3.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be built on TSMC’s N4P 4nm node, with Apple’s A17 Bionic being the only flagship chipset to be manufactured on a 3nm process this year. Qualcomm is expected to catch up next year with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

While Qualcomm has not confirmed any details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, rumors suggest that the new chipset could surpass the A17 Bionic in single-core performance, though the A17 Bionic is expected to retain an efficiency advantage. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy is said to be capable of outperforming the A17 Bionic on paper, but it remains to be seen how it will perform in real-world usage.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to feature a Cortex-A715 and new Cortex-A515 cores, but the clock speeds of these cores are currently unknown. The potential increase in power consumption due to the higher clock speeds of the Cortex-X4 prime core could impact battery life and temperature, and it remains to be seen how Qualcomm intends to address this.

The SD782G chip has been previously seen on the Honor 80, which debuted in China last year. A recent report said that the same chip will also be in the OnePlus Nord CE 3 that will be sold around the world.

Going back to the iQOO Z7 series for China, the 3C authority there has recently certified both models. The iQOO Z7x and Z7’s 3C listings show that these devices may be able to charge at up to 80W and 120W, respectively. Shown above are some live shots of the iQOO Z7 series that are now being circulated on Chinese social media platforms. There is a possibility that both handsets will have an identical design, featuring a punch-hole display on the front and a dual-camera setup on the back.

In related news, the iQOO Z7 series is also expected to launch in India this month. The lineup for India is likely to include two devices, such as the iQOO Z7 (model number I2007) and the iQOO Z7 Pro (model number I2213). It is unclear whether both models will launch together in the country.

iQOO Z7 5G India Launch Date Emerges in Google Search

Since last week, iQOO has been teasing the arrival of the iQOO Z7 5G in India. The teasers released so far hint that the company may announce it this month. Tipster Oneily Gadget seems to have spotted the iQOO Z7 5G launch date for India on Google Search.

The below shown tweet released by the tipster reveals that the iQOO Z7 India launch date has appeared in Google Search result. Hence, it appears that the device may go official on March 21 in India. It is likely that the iQOO India may confirm the same launch date for the Z7 later this week.

A recent leak revealed that the iQOO Z7 will be equipped with the Dimensity 920 chipset. The inclusion of the MediaTek chip has allowed to score over 480,000 points on AnTuTu benchmarks. It appears that the iQOO Z7 will offer better performance than phones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipsets.

The teaser image of the phone that can be found on its landing page on the iQOO India website suggests that it will be equipped with an OIS-enabled rear camera setup. However, no information is available on the camera configuration and other specs of the device.

Reports have revealed that iQOO will launch two models, such as the iQOO Z7 and iQOO Z7 Pro in the Indian market. However, it seems that the Pro model may not launch with the vanilla model. The Z7 has the model number I2207, whereas the Pro variant has the model number I2213.

iQOO is also expected to announce the iQOO Z7 and Z7x in China this month. The Snapdragon 782G chip, a 5,000mAh battery, and 120W charging are expected to be in the first one. The iQOO Z7x, on the other hand, may arrive with the Snapdragon 695 chip, a 6,000mAh battery, and 80W charging.

Nubia Z50 Ultra Roundup: Design, Specs, Expected Pricing & More

Under-display cameras (UDC) still feel like stuff from the future, albeit the selfies from such cameras are inferior to conventional selfie cameras on smartphones. ZTE was the first major brand to release a smartphone with this technology back in 2020. The Chinese company is now ready to launch its fourth generation of under-display cameras with the Nubia Z50 Ultra.

The brand will introduce the smartphone on March 7 with a UDC technology called Neovision. Before that, we decided to gather everything we know about the upcoming Nubia Z50 Ultra. From specs and design to expected pricing, you’ll find it all in this post.

Nubia Z50 Ultra

Design & Display

Nubia Z50 Ultra will be the brand’s latest flagship smartphone and is claimed to pack cutting-edge hardware. It will also arrive with an impressive design that you won’t see on phones from any other brand. The new smartphone will have a focus on photography, just like every other flagship phone nowadays. It will have a big camera module on the back with two large rings and two small ones.

The smartphone has a flat back with even flatter sides. The corners are slightly round. The more interesting stuff is on the front. As mentioned, the device will have an under-display selfie camera and it will be practically invisible too, meaning you’ll get a cutout-free display. While the concept is pretty interesting, we still don’t expect good selfies from it.

Z50 Ultra

The Z50 Ultra will have a notification/alert slider on its right edge, while the bottom will feature a speaker grille, a SIM slot, and a USB-C port. The top side will have an IR blaster.

Teasers reveal the smartphone will use a 6.8-inch screen on the front with a 1440Hz PWM Dimming and UL eye protection certificate. The display for the device has been developed in collaboration with BOE, offering a 2K resolution display with a second-gen display chip. It will feature Neovision UDC— ZTE’s fourth-generation under-display camera tech that has been upgraded to offer better image quality.

Specifications

ZTE is said to have packed top-of-the-line hardware inside the upcoming Nubia Z50 Ultra. The smartphone will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The handset was recently benchmarked on Geekbench and it managed to score 5121 points in the multi-core test and 1494 in the single-core trial. The processor could be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage

The company has confirmed the handset will be fueled by a 5,000mAh battery, however, its charging speed is still anyone’s guess. We expect the handset to support at least 80W fast charging. It will likely pack an under-display fingerprint sensor for security.

Nubia Z50 Specs

The handset will arrive with a 16MP under-panel selfie camera that is claimed to be less visible than it was on the Axon 40 Ultra or the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Its front-facing cam will feature a customized 2μm (micrometer). On the software front, the handset could run the Android 13 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MyOS 13 custom interface on top.

In the rear camera department, the Nubia Z50 Ultra is set to feature the Sony IMX786 sensor as its main camera, which is capable of capturing 64MP with a 1/1.3-inch optical format, a 35mm equivalent focal length, and an f/1.6 aperture, complete with OIS. Consequently, the primary camera will produce a narrower field of view compared to typical smartphone cameras. It will feature a 64MP periscope lens with OIS and a third camera with a 50 MP sensor and a 14mm equivalent focal length for ultra-wide-angle shots.

Expected Pricing

The Nubia Z50 Ultra will be available for purchase in three color options— Black, White, and a special starry Night Edition. The handset will be launched in China and is not expected to make it to the global market anytime soon. While there’s no official word about its pricing, we can expect it to have a starting price of around $800-$900. For reference, ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, which debuted last year, carries a price tag of $769.

Moto G Power 2023 Renders Emerge; Design, Key Specifications Revealed

Moto G Power 2023 has been spotted in leaked renders. The images give a look at the upcoming smartphone. It is expected to arrive as the successor to the Moto G Power 2022. The renders have been shared by industry tipster Onleaks in collaboration with MySmartPrice.

Beginning with the design, the Moto G Power 2023 is seen with a centre aligned punch hole cutout and thick bottom bezel. The device features a slim form factor with two buttons on the right side. There is a squarish camera module housing three sensors on the back panel. Dimensions wise the Moto G Power 2023 measures 163.1 x 74.8 x 8.4mm (10mm including the rear camera bump).

The Moto G Power 2023 is tipped to feature a 6.5 inch display but the screen resolution and refresh rate remain unknown. The renders reveal a 3.5mm headphone jack, a charging port, and a speaker grille at the bottom. The volume rocker and power buttons are located on the right side with the later expected to double up as a fingerprint scanner.

Now that the renders of the Moto G Power 2023 have appeared, it appears that it will not take too long for it to debut. Here is a look at the specifications of the predecessor model.

Apple Overtakes Xiaomi’s Smartphone Market Share in Asia for February 2023, Only Behind Samsung

Asia is a very crucial market for the smartphone industry, as it contains the world’s largest markets for smartphones, which are India and China, both amounting to nearly 3 billion potential customers using smartphones.
