Vivo X Fold S launch imminent, specs and rear panel design leaked

Earlier this year, the Vivo had announced its first ever foldable smartphone called the X Fold. Now, the company is believed to be working on another foldable phone model, which is dubbed the X Fold S. This device is expected to launch soon, and a new leak has revealed some key specifications as well as its rear design.

The news arrives from a known tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared the information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). On the social media post, the tipster stated that the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on launching a new foldable smartphone in China soon. Although, the leak did not reveal the exact launch date for the device. The tipster also shared that the new foldable phone will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is in line with our previous report.

Under the hood, a large 4,700mAh battery pack will power the device, which also supports 80W fast charging as well. This is also larger than the previous X Fold model’s smaller 4,600mAh battery pack. Furthermore, the upcoming Vivo X Fold S will apparently feature a rear panel design that is similar to the previously launched X Fold. The smartphone will reportedly also sport a 8.03 inch primary AMOLED display that has a 120Hz refresh rate as well.

On the other hand, the secondary panel will apparently be a 6.53 inch AMOLED panel, which also has a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. For optics, the tipster claimed that the new foldable phone will features a quad camera setup that consists of a 50 megapixel primary, 48 megapixel ultra wide angle, 12 megapixel telephoto, and 8 megapixel periscopic sensors. Meanwhile, the front will house a 16 megapixel selfie shooter. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt.

Earlier this month, Samsung started rolling out the Android 13-based One UI 5 beta for the Galaxy S22 series smartphones. Now, the South Korean giant has begun pushing out the second beta build for the South Korean, US, UK, and Indian user base.

The new update comes with a firmware version ending with ZVHK and brings a lot of bug fixes, performance improvements, and refreshed app icons for Samsung’s stock apps.

The One UI 5.0 beta upgrade has a download size of about 3GB in the markets where it has been made available for the first time. The download size is roughly 1GB in regions where the second beta update has been made available.

The new features introduced in the second beta build include a Smart Suggestions Widget that suggests useful apps and new features. This version also includes the introduction of Maintenance Mode, which allows you to conceal your personal information while sharing your device with a repair facility.

The Privacy Detection feature has also been added by Samsung. It alerts you when you attempt to share images containing sensitive data, such as those of credit cards, identification cards, or passports, allowing you to decide whether you actually want to share those images with others. The latest One UI 5.0 beta version brings the Lifestyle Mode to the Bixby Routines function.

Xiaomi has launched a new smartphone from its popular Redmi sub brand in India. The new model in question is the Redmi Note 11 SE, which has just been announced. So let’s have a look at its specs, pricing, and more.

For those unaware, the device was already available in China. Now, it was released in the Indian market and it sports a 6.43 inch AMOLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution and 1100 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, the Note 11 SE is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G95 SoC that is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

On the rear, the smartphone feature a quad camera setup, which consists of a 64 megapixel primary sensor, an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, a 2 megapixel macro shooter, and another 2 megapixel depth camera. Meanwhile, the front houses a 13 megapixel selfie shooter. Infinix has launched the Note 12 Pro smartphone in India. The device arrives with an attractive design and a respectable spec sheet for a budget 4G device. So, let’s check out the details.

The flat back of the Note 12 Pro 4G sports a circular camera island with three camera cutouts. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right side of its flat surface. Samsung Galaxy S23 powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC to focus on battery efficiency

Samsung recently announced its latest flagship foldable smartphones in the market, dubbed Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Now, the company is focusing on the next generation of Galaxt=y S-series phones

It is being reported that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series smartphones will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and this time, the company will be focusing on battery efficiency.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1p processor, which is currently found in the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, and its upgraded version named Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, are powerful processors, but they are also power-hungry and generate a bit of heat. So, for the next-generation chips, Qualcomm will reportedly focus on battery consumption.

Based on the information available so far, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, codenamed Kailua, carries model number SM8550 and will be manufactured by TSMC using its second-generation 4nm process.

The chipset will reportedly come with one fast Cortex-X3 core that provides a 25% performance boost over the X1 found in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 models, as well as two Cortex-A715, two Cortex-A710, and three Cortex-A510.

A few months ago, it was revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 efficiency tests are going well, and the chip has performed better than its direct predecessors. The new chip is likely to be announced in November or December this year, and the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be officially launched in early 2023.

After the launch of the OPPO A77 in India earlier this month, OPPO is gearing up to launch another smartphone in the A series called the OPPO A77s.

According to a new report, the device has been spotted on multiple certification databases including NBTC, BIS, EU Declaration, and TUV Rheinland. Starting with NBTC, the certification reveals that the device with model number CPH2473 will come with the OPPO A77s moniker.

In addition to this, the upcoming OPPO A77s has also been seen on the website for the EU Declaration. Given that the device has received BIS approval, an India launch appears to be imminent. A battery with the model number BLP927 will be included in the next A-series smartphone, according to the EU Declaration listing. The charging adapters’ model numbers appear to be VCB3HDUH, VCB3HDEH, VCB3HDYH, and VCB3HACPH.

According to the TUV Rheinland certification for BLP927, the Oppo A77s’ battery will have a 5000mAh capacity.
The rated battery capacity is 4880mAh.
The aforementioned charging adapters are capable of 33W (11V/3A) of charge.

Currently, this is the extent of information available on the upcoming OPPO A77s smartphone. However, more information and detailed specs are expected to appear in the coming days, so stay tuned.

After the Chinese launch last month, Honor has finally launched the Honor 70 5G smartphone in the UK along with the Honor Pad 8 and the X8 5G smartphone.

The Honor 70 Pro features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ OLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has an under-display fingerprint sensor and a punch-hole cutout for housing the front-facing camera.

Under the hood, it houses the Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC with HONOR’s own GPU Turbo X, which keeps high frame rates and low power consumption while running high-rate games. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 680 chipset which is complimented by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The tab runs Android 12 with Magic UI 6.1 and the all-new desktop layout. This is the first tablet from Honor to feature multi-screen collaboration. Meta/Oculus Quest Pro VR Headset Arriving in early October

California-based virtual reality technology giant, Meta recently revealed that its next VR headset will be announced in October, at the company’s annual Meta Connect press event conference.

The news was revealed by present Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, in a special interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast (via The Verge). Mark states that for the next virtual reality device that is coming out in October, there are a few big features that will be included on the headset.

In the podcast, Mark Zuckerberg did not reveal the name of Meta’s upcoming VR headset, but reports and rumours point to the aforementioned device, being Meta’s currently in development Project Cambria, and that its official release name will be called the Meta Quest Pro (part of the Meta Quest/Oculus Quest series of VR headsets).

Mark Zuckerberg shares with listeners that Meta’s next device will introduce eye and facial to consumer VR headsets. He shares some examples of what the Meta Quest Pro can enable users to do, like making flexible and direct eye contact in virtual reality in conversations, make avatar facial expressions to emulate your real-life face expressions and the most shocking of them all, Mark explains that if you smile or if you frown or if you pout, or whatever your expression is, the upcoming headset can have that translate in real-time to your avatar.

As for other details regarding the upcoming Meta Quest Pro, we will have to wait until early October for Meta’s official launch announcement.

The Meta Quest Pro is rumoured to launch at a starting price of US$ 799 or higher, making it the most expensive virtual reality headset in Meta’s catalogue.

HP has just launched a new 34-inch All-in-One Desktop PC that promises to bring a “studio-like experience” and “studio quality” to its users.

The new AiO has a 5K ultra-wide resolution IPS display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The company claims that this panel can hit 500 nits of brightness and cover 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

The HP AiO comes configured with up to an Intel Core i9-12900 with vPro, an Nvidia RTX 3060 (6GB GDDR6X) LHR GPU, 4TB of storage across two NVMe M.2 SSDs, and 128GB of DDR4-4800 RAM. The storage and RAM are supposed to be easily upgradeable or replaceable through a panel that opens on the computer’s backside.

The back of the device has multiple ports including pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, four USB-A ports (10Gbps), HDMI 2.1, RJ45, and a 3.5 mm jack.

The 34-inch AiO enables users to move the detachable, magnetic 16MP (4MP Binned) camera to multiple positions on the screen bezel to find the best field of view. The company claims that the high-resolution camera’s automatic cropping and flattening of the video feed results in a sharp, digital image of pages or a whiteboard that can be shared in real-time.

Password Manager LastPass Confirms They Were Hacked This Month

With more and more websites setting restrictions on the passwords you can use (ie it must have a capital letter, a unique symbol or your password must be 12 characters long), password managers such as Dashlane, KeePass, and 1Password have been gaining attraction among online users over the past 5 years.

One among the popular password managers, LastPass, reported in their official community blog post, that unfortunately their service was hacked this August 2022.

The report states that the team has determined that two weeks ago, an unauthorized party gained access to portions of the LastPass development environment through a single compromised developer account and took portions of source code and some proprietary LastPass technical information.

In response to the security incident, the company states that it has deployed containment and mitigation measures, and engaged with a leading cybersecurity and forensics firm. The investigation regarding LastPass’ security incident is still ongoing, and the company has notified its users that currently there is no evidence that this incident involved any access to customer data or encrypted password vaults.

LastPass’ products and services are operating normally, and with regard to the incident, the company has also implemented additional enhanced security measures and is evaluating further mitigation techniques to strengthen the cybersecurity environment.

Lastly, LastPass informs users that none of its users’ Master passwords have been compromised. LastPass says that it never stores or has knowledge of its users’ Master Passwords. The password manager utilizes an industry-standard Zero Knowledge architecture that ensures LastPass can never know or gain access to their customers’ Master Password.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is a clamshell foldable phone: its foldable display has similar dimensions to traditional phone displays, but it is able to fold into half and let the phone extremely compact. Which one to choose? It depends on your needs: if you need a very wide display, then Galaxy Z Fold4, otherwise, if you are looking for a very compact device to keep in a pocket, Galaxy Z Flip4 is a better choice. Both are built with premium materials, including rear glass protected by Gorilla Glass Victus Plus and an aluminum profile. Even though they are foldable phones, they are also waterproof as they have the IPX8 certification. So not only innovative form factors but also excellent build quality.

Display

The internal foldable display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is actually the best in this comparison. It is a Dynamic AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 7.6 inches, a 2K resolution of 1812 x 2176 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. The external panel of the handset is a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with an HD+ resolution of 904 x 2316 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Note that the Galaxy Z Fold4 has an important added value, besides the huge display: it supports the S Pen for handwriting and drawing which may be very useful for productivity. The Flip comes with an internal foldable display sporting the AMOLED technology, a Full HD+ resolution, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The external panel is a very small 1.9-inch AMOLED display, but it can still be used to shoot photos and it supports several other features.

Specs & Software

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 are powered by the same processor. We are talking about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ mobile platform built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex X2 CPU running at a max frequency of 3.19 GHz, three Cortex A710 CPUs running at 2.75 GHz, four Cortex A510 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and an Adreno 730 GPU. What changes is the amount of RAM alongside the internal storage, definitely better on the Fold4. Indeed, the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 provides 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has just 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. These phones run Android 12 out of the box, but the Fold4 has Android 12L, an optimized version for devices with big displays.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 wins the camera comparison simply because it has better sensors. On the rear side, it sports a 50 MP main camera with OIS and dual pixel autofocus, a 10 MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide lens with a FOV of 123 degrees. With the Flip4, you only get a 12 MP main camera with OIS and a 12 MP ultrawide camera: very poor for a flagship phone, but hey, it is a clamshell foldable.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 destroys the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 when it comes to battery life, for obvious reasons. It is bigger and it has room for a bigger battery, with a capacity of 4400 mAh, while the Flip4 has just 3700 mAh under the hood.

Price

Asus ROG Swift PG42UQ & PG48UQ OLED Gaming Monitors released

ASUS has released two new series gaming monitors that feature the latest generation OLED technology and an impressive heat dissipation mechanism. The ROG Swift PG42UQ and PG48UQ OLED gaming monitors offer extended gaming performance, according to Asus.

The release of the latest Asus gaming monitors comes seven months after they were announced during CES 2022. The 42-inch ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ and the 48-inch ROG Swift OLED PG48UQ both have a 4K flat OLED panel. They also feature a custom heat sink that ensures enhanced performance and prolonged life. The impressive features of the two new gaming monitors include high-quality color, contrast, and brightness, as well as high refresh rates and response times.

The 4K OLED screens in both the PG42UQ and PG48UQ use the latest technology available for greater efficiency. They also adopt a sub-pixel layout that provides extreme levels of detail and upgrades the overall viewing experience. The new monitors will be a delight to gamers who are ensconced in high-octane games as the PG42UQ and PG48UQ are up to the task. They offer up to 138Hz refresh rate and 0.1ms response time. An appropriate heat dissipation mechanism is also in place to take care of heat generated during its operation. The custom heatsink design is a major feature of the new monitors to take care of overheating driver circuitry.

The Asus ROG Swift PG42UQ and PG48UQ gaming monitors offer high image quality and a contrast ratio of 1.2 million :1. They have 98% DCI-P3 color gamut, Delta E<2 color, and support HDR 10 output. The models also come with an anti-glare coating which reduces ambient reflection. In terms of connectivity, the new ROG Swift OLED models have a DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and two HDMI 2.0 ports. They also have a USB hub and tripod socket. The two HDMI 2.1 ports deliver 48Gbps bandwidth while both models feature Harman Kardon built-in speakers.

Full global pricing details for the Asus ROG Swift PG42UQ and PG48UQ OLED are not fully out. The PG42UQ is priced in Taiwan at about $1,299, while the PG48UQ has a $1,499 retail price. The corresponding prices in the United States and other markets will be released subsequently.

Xiaomi’s latest air conditioner is the MIJIA Natural Wind Air-Conditioner 1.5HP. The new air conditioner comes with improved air conditioning capabilities and won the 2022 Red Dot Design Award. The new MIJIA air conditioner uses a metal silver wire drawing spraying process and has a built-in color display. The new air conditioner has several upgrades for greater comfort for users.

The MIJIA air conditioner has a three-dimensional wide-angle wind deflector and a large sweeping range. This implies that the air conditioner provides better performance compared to a traditional up-and-down wind deflector. The new MIJIA air conditioner offers four wind options namely: soft, sky curtain, carpet, and surround. There are 14 built-in scavenging blades each with 48 micro-holes that deliver the needed air comfort.

The MIJIA Natural Wind Air-Conditioner 1.5HP adopts an anti-sudden cooling technology when defrosting. It does not absorb heat from the room during defrosting, unlike traditional models. With the anti-sudden cooling technology, the machine is always in heating mode and it defrosts without stopping any other operations. This serves to improve the heat exchange effect of the air conditioner in the absence of frost. Overall, the new anti-sudden cooling technology enhances the heating capability of the air conditioner.

The air conditioner features quick heating and quick cooling. The compressor speed can be increased ten-fold within a few seconds and there’s no need to wait for a comfortable wind. The air conditioner has a range of operation between -32ºC and 60ºC. The machine is also self-cleaning both internally and externally. It has an antibacterial and mildew-proof filter, as well as a dirty block intelligent reminder.

The MIJIA Natural Wind Air-Conditioner 1.5HP uses a full DC frequency conversion, an electronic expansion valve, and an innovative air duct. It also offers a large circulating air volume of 1.5HP with an estimated yearly energy savings of 112kWh. The air conditioner also passed the Weikai harsh natural environment test and is thus certified.

The MIJIA Natural Wind Air-Conditioner 1.5HP will retail in China at an introductory price of 2,799 yuan (~$409) but the original price is 2,999 yuan (~$438). The new MIJIA air conditioner can be purchased directly from Xiaomi or other retail outlets in China.

Itel has launched two new feature phones, dubbed Itel Magic X and Magic X Play in India. The handsets come with an affordable price tag and impressive features. Both phones support 4G VoLTE and feature the LetsChat app that allows users to send unlimited voice messages and even create chat groups. The Itel Magic X and Magic X Play also sport a built-in music app that has over 74 million music tracks. Let’s have closer look at the price and specifications of the newly launched feature phones.

The Itel Magic X Play features a 1.77-inch 3D curved display with a 128×160 pixels resolution, whereas the Magic X comes with a 2.4-inch 3D curved QVGA display offering a 240×320 pixels resolution. The phones carry dual-sim support and are powered by a Unisoc T107 processor.

The features phones have a VGA rear camera with LED flash. In terms of storage, both handsets have 48MB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage that can be further expanded up to 64GB with a microSD card. Users will be able to save up to 2,000 contacts, 500 SMS texts as well as 250 MMS texts.

Yamaha SR-C30A soundbar with a compact wireless subwoofer announced

Yamaha will release a compact soundbar with a wireless subwoofer and an affordable price in October. The Yamaha SR-C30A soundbar is priced lower than the Sonos Ray which is the gold standard for budget soundbars.

The Yamaha SR-C30A comes with additional features than the Sonos Ray, thus giving it a competitive edge. It comes with HDMI ARC connectivity, Bluetooth streaming, and a wireless subwoofer for high bass output. The soundbar is quite compact together with the wireless subwoofer. The system will work with 32-inch TVs and larger models and the subwoofer can fit snugly into a small space.

The SR-C30A has two 4.6cm drivers (compared to the four in the Sonos Ray) in the wireless subwoofer. The soundbar will feature virtual surround sound capabilities which can be controlled using the app. How this combines with its minimal number of drivers remains to be seen. Unlike the Sonos Ray, there is no Wi-Fi connectivity or streaming capability for the SR-C30A. However, the multi-point Bluetooth connectivity means that you can switch between different inputs like your smartphone or Amazon Echo Dot.

Some other budget-friendly Yamaha soundbars already on the market are the SR-B20A and SR-C20A. Both models have an impressive output, thus raising similar hopes for the SR-C30A. The Yamaha SR-C30A will be available in October and is priced at $279. Its affordable price could belie the quality on offer on the device. We await the official release of the soundbar to establish its quality rating.

TCL Tab 10 5G with an 8,000mAh battery, 5G connectivity launched for $300

It is often a challenge to balance performance and affordability in the tablet segment of the tech market. However, the new TCL Tab 10 5G aims to overcome that challenge. The new TCL tablet comes with fast connectivity via its 5G support, as well as long battery life and an affordable price. The new tablet comes with a large full-HD display and a long battery life.

The TCL Tab 10 5G is an inexpensive tablet that squares up with the Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite quite nicely. It has a larger screen, larger battery, and a lower price than the more established Galaxy A7 Lite tablet. The tablet’s display is made by the company’s NXTVISION group. The camera setup of the Tab 10 5G consists of an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Face identification is featured in the Tab 10 5G and it can be used to unlock the tablet as an added security measure.

The TCL Tab 10 5G offers fast network connectivity on the go and is especially handy on long journeys. Its battery can be used without charging for several hours on a trip. The tablet runs on Android 12 and has 4GB RAM + 32GB of storage, which is quite limiting. It is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 800T processor. It may not be well-kitted for intense gaming applications or multi-tasking due to the underwhelming RAM capacity.

The TCL Tab 10 5G is available on the T-Mobile network, unlike the slightly more-expensive TCL Tab Pro, which is available on the Verizon network. The Tab 10 5G will retail for $300 but it is unclear whether it is worth the plunge if your desire is a high-performance and versatile tablet.
