Battlegrounds Mobile India fixes speed glitch & other issues with the latest patch

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) devs at Krafton have been working hard ever since the launch of the game to make it more optimized and bug-free. The company has just launched a new update for the game bringing fixes for multiple issues that the player base is facing right now.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI)

According to the official patch notes, the new update brings a highly demanded fix for the speed issue after jumping off the Nimbus Island. This is basically a bug that allowed players to move way faster than intended after abusing a glitch spot to jump off the nimbus island. Krafton has confirmed that this glitch has indeed been fixed.

The patch also brings a fix for the issue where other players’ sensitivity codes won’t get applied. These codes usually allow players to share their custom sensitivity settings for the camera, aim down sight (ADS), and gyroscope with others. Other than that, the last gameplay-related patch coming with this update fixes the issue where players were unable to see through the scope when they had the Christmas-themed Merry Tidings skin equipped to their UZI.

In a separately published patch note, Krafton has also stated that it has fixed an issue with a premium crate that gives an unintended item along with guaranteed rewards when opening the crate 10, 20, or 30 times.

BGMI

Krafrton also recently announced that in the last week of March alone, they had banned over 66,000 accounts for cheating. Players have also stated that cheaters are getting banned at a faster rate compared to previous months. This may be due to improvements made in the Anti-cheat system of the game. The game also encourages players to report any suspicious activity that they come across. If the anti-cheat engine flags and bans an account that you’ve reported, the game rewards you with a “Ban Pan” skin for the iconic Pan.

DOOGEE S98 Review: A watch mounted on your phone

Last time I reviewed the DOOGEE V20, a flagship rugged phone with an OLED screen, Iwas very impressed with it. But today’s star is equally impressive, the DOOGEE S98. It’s also DOOGEE’s newest flagship phone. And it is also a little different from other rugged phones on the market.

DOOGEE S98 Box

Doogee S98 review 21

The DOOGEE S98 comes in the same large flat square box as the V20. When you open the lid, the package contains almost the same accessories as the V20 and is placed in the same place. There is the white pry bar that helps you open the SIM Card Slot and charging port. There is also an extra piece of Anti-explosion film. The phone is pre-applied with a tempered film, too.

Doogee S98 review 19 This charger is also a 33w Type-C charger. From the charging protocol compatibility, it should be the same charger as the V20. The only difference with the V20 is that there is no USB-C to A Female cable in the box this time.

Doogee S98 Design

Doogee S98 review 22

The design of the Rugged phone is like a human fingerprint, there are no two rugged phones in the world that are exactly the same, but the S98 is even more special. If you only look at the back, you won’t even think it’s a rugged phone. The back panel is very smooth to the touch and has a stitching design. Although it is still made of rubber, it looks like it is made of leather. It seems like the same phone used by business people.

Doogee S98 review 15The most special thing is this camera module. Most other phones have the camera in the middle, but the Doogee S98 is different. It has a huge round screen in the middle of the back panel. Yes, it’s massive, almost as big as my watch. This screen has the same function as the V20, you can check the time, switch songs or answer calls. But also, like the V20 there is no way to use the camera’s preview. The S98 also has NFC and custom buttons, and the SIM Card Tray can be installed with two SIM cards and a Macro SD Card. Anyway, I think the design of the S98 is even more special than the V20, and it is also very functional.

Doogee S98 Display

Doogee S98 review 13

The S98 uses an FHD+ LCD screen. The quality of this screen is not much better than other rugged phones. Of course, if you compare it with the V20, the gap could be even bigger. The screen is not its strength, but it is enough to ensure normal use. The important thing is that its system is Android 12 by default. The gesture animation is smooth, and the UI looks good. Because the system update frequency of rugged phones is relatively low, so you want a rugged phone with Android 12, and we suggest you to buy the phone whose factory system version is Android 12.

Doogee S98 review 09

As with other rugged phones, the S98 has Corning Gorilla protective glass plus a tempered film to protect the screen. It is enough to ensure that the screen will not be broken when dropped at a height of 1.5 meters. All ports are waterproof and IP68 and IP69K certified.

Doogee S98 Camera

Doogee S98 cameras 08

The camera system of the S98 is the same as the V20, consisting of a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 20 MP Night vision Camera. The performance of this camera system is almost the same as the V20. Because the main camera doesn’t have the same pixel 4-in-1 in auto mode as other phones, you get a clear, sharp photo most of the time. Even when you zoom in on a photo, you can still see very clear image details.

The S98’s night mode is almost no different from auto mode photos when taken in a well-lighted night scene. Only when the environment is very dark, you can see that the night mode photo will be slightly brighter.

The ultra-wide-angle camera can help you capture a wider picture, but of course, the quality of its photos is not as good as the main camera, especially at night when the light is not good.

Finally, the Night vision camera has added the autofocus function. And while the V20 will remind you that you’re out of focus by flashing the IR fill light, the S98 will simply turn off the IR fill light when it’s out of focus. This directly eliminates the possibility of you taking blurry photos.

Doogee S98 Performance & Benchmarks

DOOGEE V20 is using MediaTek Helio G96 processor. This is the first time we are seeing this processor. According to the results of Benchmark Tests, in Antutu the phone scores 300,000 points. In 3DMark it is close to 1200 points.

Doogee S98 review Antutu 3DMarkIt seems that the GPU performance of this processor is similar to that of the Dimensity 700 processor of the V20, but the CPU performance is a bit worse. However, light mainstream games such as PUBG are stable at 40fps, and COD Mobile can even run at 60fps.

Doogee S98 Battery Life

The battery capacity is 6000mAh, which can standby for 432 hours or play games for 10 hours. It also keeps the good tradition of DOOGEE phones with long battery life. 33w charging power is much faster than most rugged phones. And it also supports 15w wireless charging. So its good.

Doogee S98 review 18

From the V20 to the S98, DOOGEE has always come up with some interesting phones. If the V20 gives rugged phone users the option of an OLED screen, then the S98 is the rugged phone that allows more people to use the business style.

Doogee S98 review 02 It’s so special that it’s almost impossible to find a second rugged phone with a watch embedded in the back panel.

IndiGo passenger’s phone catches fire mid flight in India due to battery overheating

A smartphone has recently caught fire mid flight in India. The passenger who was traveling with IndiGo airlines had his device catch flames likely due to an overheating issue with the battery.

IndiGo

The news arrives following a statement shared by the DGCA (Via 91Mobiles). Apparently, the cabin crew member for the IndiGo flight noticed that the smartphone was sparking, with even smoke being emitted. Thus, the device was taken and the fire was doused immediately with a fire extinguisher. As per the official news, no one was injured during this incident and the flight also landed safely. Notably, the flight was from Dibrugarh to Delhi on April 14.

The DGCA stated that the smartphone caught fire due to an abnormal overheating issue with the battery. Furthermore, the aircraft landed safely at the Delhi airport around 12.45 pm on Thursday, with the ordeal occurring in the IndiGo flight of 6E 2037. In a separate statement, IndiGo said that “There was an incident of a mobile device battery heating up abnormally on flight 6E 2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi. The crew is trained to manage all hazardous incidences and they quickly managed the situation. There was no harm caused to any passenger or property onboard.”

While the incident is rare, it is not entirely an isolated incident. With electronics becoming more common in day to day usage, airlines across the globe have also begun taking necessary steps of precaution. This includes carrying fire suppression equipment to help take care of any unfortunate fire accidents. As of right now, the lithium ion battery in the smartphone is being blamed for the incident. So stay tuned for more updates regarding this matter.

Microsoft offers additional 30% bonus on top of $20,000 bug bounty

Microsoft is apparently planning on offering additional incentives to its bug hunt program to expand its reach. The company is willing to pay higher to those that find vulnerabilities within its security.

Microsoft

For those unaware, the American tech giant is running a bug hunt program that rewards participants that find serious security implications within the systems. Microsoft had recently announced the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Bounty Program and the M365 Bounty Program. And now, the brand is planning on offering an additional 30 percent bonus on top of the 20,000 US Dollars that it already offers for finding vulnerabilities.

So, one can now be rewarded with a sizeable sum of 26,000 US Dollars. According to the Microsoft Security Response Center’s (MSRC) announcement, “Through these new scenario based bounties, we encourage researchers to focus their research on vulnerabilities with the greatest potential impact on customer privacy and security.” Notably, vulnerabilities that are not considered high risk may still be eligible for bounties under the general bug bounty program.

Microsoft

The company further added that one may also receive higher rewards based on the severity of the reported vulnerability and the quality of the submission as well. Just a week ago, Microsoft had also announced that it will be adding Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business within the enterprise to its bug bounty program. So now, security researchers can find and report vulnerabilities affecting Exchange and SharePoint servers within the enterprise for a bounty that ranges from 500 to 26,000 US Dollars.

There are going to be 3 launch events next week. One of them will take place in India, while the remaining two will be held in China. As far as the devices are concerned, a total of 4 phones are expected. There will be a single entry-level, whereas the others will be mid-rangers.

Redmi 10A

At the end of March, the Redmi 10A made its initial debut in China. The entry-level smartphone is now heading to India on April 20 (Wednesday). Though Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the timing for the virtual event yet, we can expect it to begin at 12 PM on Redmi India’s official YouTube channel.

The Redmi 10A is almost the same as the Redmi 9A from 2020. The only major difference between the two is the presence of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the newer model, in addition to a slightly tweaked back design.

The device comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ display (LCD), MediaTek Helio G25 SoC, 13MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, MicroSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroUSB port, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support.

On the other hand, the Realme Q5i is tipped to come with a 6.58-inch FHD+ display (LCD), Mediatek Dimensity 810 chipset, 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup, 8MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Unfortunately, the specs of the Realme Q5 are a mystery for now.

3. Oneplus Ace

Oneplus Ace / Oneplus 10R

On April 21 (Thursday), Oneplus will be holding a launch conference in China at 7 PM CST. The star of the show will be Oneplus Ace. The upper mid-range smartphone will be accompanied by accessories like Oneplus Buds N and Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z2.

The forthcoming Oneplus Ace is nothing but a tweaked Realme GT Neo 3. The only major difference between the two is the rear design. The Ace is also set to go official in India later this month as Oneplus 10R.

Samsung might soon launch its own rollable QD-OLED TV after LG

A new report has revealed that Samsung Display might be planning on launching a new product that could rival its long time competitor, LG. The new product in question will be a rollable QD-OLED TV, which is what LG already offers.

LG rollable OLED TV

According to TheElec report, sources close to the matter have claimed that the South Korean tech giant is currently working on the next generation of QD-OLED panels. The “aim is to reduce the use of glass substrates from the current two to one,” which would then allow for a new version that will be capable of rolling. The company’s display unit developing this new type of display technology implies that soon, Samsung Electronics will soon launch a rollable TV as well.

As of right now, the only commercially available TV with a rollable screen is the LG RX Rollable series OLED. This model was announced back in CES 2019 and was released in the market a year later. However, despite being quite an eye catching and innovative product, the 65 inch model alone cost a whopping 87,000 US Dollars. In other words, it is still too expensive to be mass produced or more widely available.

So, its possible that the rollable model released by Samsung could be cheaper than the only option in the market right now. However, considering the price of the QD-OLED TVs, it seems unlikely that such a model would be too affordable. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.
