HTC took to Twitter in the early hours of today to announce that it has an event on August 30. The tweet includes a caption that reads “Beauty and power meet on August 30th 2018” and is accompanied by a poster which teases the product belongs to the U-series.
Based on previous rumors, the phone we think HTC may unveil on that day is the HTC U12 Life, a successor to the mid-range U11 Life from last year. The phone is expected to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636, a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 1080 x 2160 resolution. It will also have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
For optics, the HTC U12 Life will have 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras and a single 13MP front-facing camera with its own selfie flash. The new 18:9 aspect ratio will mean the fingerprint scanner will find a new home and the back of the phone is the most likely position.
OPPO just gave us a very big reason to the get the OPPO R17 Pro that was announced a few minutes ago! The OPPO R17 Pro will come with support for the incredibly quick Super VOOC fast charging that was so far exclusive to the incredibly expensive OPPO Find X Lamborghini edition.
SUPER VOOC R17 PRO
Back when the OPPO Find X was announced, we hoped that we would see Super VOOC in the company’s first true flagship in a couple of years. We did get this tech but it was unfortunately limited to the Find X Lamborghini edition. Considering how this particular special edition costs EUR 1,699 (~$1970), it was out of the reach of regular smartphone users. But now, with Super VOOC on the OPPO R17 Pro, incredibly fast charging just got a lot cheaper for customers.
In case you are wondering why this is such a big deal, then know that Super VOOC can charge your phone to nearly 40% in just 10 minutes! Thats as fast as you can get on a smartphone in 2018. Imagine you have like 10% charge before you head to the office. By the time you have your breakfast, the phone will be up to 50%! In day to day usage, it’ll make a big difference.
The Super VOOC fast charging tech is safe as well. TUV Rheinland has given safety certification to this fast charging technology and the company was quick to explain that the tech has undergone rigorous battery and charging cycle test to ensure that its safe for daily use. Considering how Super VOOC boosts the charging power to a massive 50W (10V 5A), this certification was indeed necessary to confirm its safe for use.
With Super VOOC, OPPO R17 Pro just got a lot more enticing for customers. What’s your take?
Huawei will be attending this year’s edition of IFA which begins on August 31 and will run till September 5. Huawei will most likely not be announcing any new phones but it sure will take the wraps off its latest flagship processor, the Kirin 980, and a new video teaser from the manufacturer further confirms this.
The 7-second video was uploaded on Weibo today and it reveals Huawei will have a live event on the first day of the trade show. While the video doesn’t explicitly mention that the Kirin 980 will be announced, one can see the shape of a chipset in the video.
The Kirin 980 will appear first in the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro set to launch in October. The new chipset will also appear in other Huawei and Honor flagships such as the Honor V11/View 11 and the Huawei P30 series which launches next year.
The Grahope heated eye mask is a new kind of eye mask which combines both external and internal effects in its function. There so many kinds of eye masks available globally like the heating eye mask, simple sleep mask, and disposable hot steam eye mask, among others. The major use of these eye masks is mostly for temporary relaxation with little or no internal positive effect. That isn’t so with the Grahope-manufactured heated eye mask. The mask is made using a new high-tech material, Graphene. In case you’ve never heard of graphene, it is an allotrope (form) of carbon. What makes the material interesting is that when heated up, it emits far-infrared light which can penetrate deeply into our body and provide physical therapy.
Most busy people have one time or the other experienced lack of sleep or prolong use of electronics – PC, laptops, smartphones etc. This may have resulted in dry, puffy and tired eyes. In such a situation, a spa for the eyes using the heating eye mask is essential as it brings excellent comfort and relaxation by stimulating blood circulation while wearing the eye mask. Also, such therapy helps you fall asleep quickly by relaxing your facial muscles and blocking out all light. It is also perfect to use at night if you wish to experience a stress-free sleep and refresh your brain.
There is a high-level acceptance that far-infrared is healthy for the human body, including the eyes because the far-infrared wavelength emitted by the graphene heating film is 6-14μm,This is very close to the wavelength of the infrared ray emitted by the human body itself. Yes, the human body emits electromagnetic radiation. Most of the radiation emitted by the human body is in the infrared region, mainly at the wavelength of 12μm. As such, this mask is perfect to provide physical therapy. Frequent use of the Grahope heating eye mask is said to not only help in soothing dry and tired eyes but also has the potential to help eliminate your eye wrinkles and dark circle.
Furthermore, the device is manufactured with several features that improve safety since we’re talking of the eyes here. The Gahope eye mask is set to work for 1 hour each time and after that, it shuts down automatically. Thus, you don’t have to worry about overheating of the eyes after you fall asleep. The driving voltage is also very low, just 3.7V as against 220V on other eye masks. Also, the temperature can be adjusted based on your preference. There are three different modes of temperature (low, medium and high) ranged from 100.4°F to 113°F.
The eye mask is made using lightweight materials and is soft. It exerts zero pressure on the eyes and provides 360°shading. The elastic straps are also soft and adjustable thus, the eye mask is capable of fitting different head sizes. Its usage isn’t restricted as it comes with a USB port which can be powered using a power bank, PC or USB adapter.
Despite the new, safe and efficient technology the Grahope eye mask packs, it is priced at just $32.99. The eye mask is presently available on Amazon for this price and you’ll agree it is super affordable. You can check it out from here.
Back at MWC 2018 when Huawei unveiled the MateBook X Pro, it was announced in four different configurations with three of them having NVIDIA’s MX150 graphics card. Now, Huawei has released a fifth model that comes with the same Core i7 processor as the higher models but ditches the NVIDIA graphics card.
The new model has 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD but doesn’t have an MX150 GPU. Huawei says this model is targeted at those who want the storage but don’t need the extra 8GB RAM and MX150 GPU of the highest model. So practically, this is for non-gamers.
The new model still has a 13.9-inch 3000 x 2000 LTPS touch display with its super thin bezels and 91% screen-to-body ratio. It has a 57.4Wh battery which Huawei says can last 12 up to 12 hours for video playback. It also supports fast charge.
There are two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port for connectivity. It also has a headphone jack, four speakers, and four long-range microphones for Cortana. The keyboard is spill-proof and there is a fingerprint scanner buried under the power button. It also has a pop-up webcam that is nestled between the F7 and F8 keys.

LG has so far released LG V30S ThinQ, G7 ThinQ and V35 ThinQ and the company is now prepping on the launch of its next V-series phone – the LG V40 ThinQ. Fresh information reveals that the South Korean company will be releasing the LG V40 ThinQ in the market after the Apple debut its new iPhones. Fresh renders of the smartphone have surfaced to reveal its design.
The LG V40 ThinQ renders reveal that it is fitted with a notched display. However, the black bars present on the either side of the notch suggests that the phone will come with an option to hide it. The notch of the V40 ThinQ is equipped with dual selfie cameras, an earpiece and some other sensors.
Moving to the glass rear of the LG V40 ThinQ, it feature horizontally arranged triple rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner. An LED flash is placed on the right side of the triple camera system. The bottom edge of the V40 ThinQ features a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-C port and an external speaker. The left side of the phone features volume up and down buttons followed by a dedicated key for accessing Google Assistant. Its right edge is equipped with a power key and SIM card tray.
The renders leak did not reveal any information on it specifications. It is speculated that it would be featuring a P-OLED screen, Snapdragon 845 SoC, Android 9 Pie OS and quad-DAC.
According to a South Korean publication, the G7 ThinQ smartphone has encountered lackluster sales as the company could sell only half the number of 3 million internal sales goal. It is speculated that LG is readying 500,000 units of V40 ThinQ for the initial sale. The smartphone may hit the market in the first week of October or the 10th of the same month.
The publication has also claimed that LG is working on the LG V45 to launch its first 5G smartphone in 2019. The handset may borrow specs from G7 ThinQ and V40 ThinQ in a bid to reduce expenses. The V45 ThinQ may feature the same display panel and camera modules that are arriving on the upcoming V40 ThinQ.
The report also claims that LG was working two flagship phones with Phoenix and Falcon codenames. Among the two, Falcon phone is said to be inferior than Phoenix. Since LG reportedly failed to convince carriers to sell the Falcon model, the company sold it to Google. The Pixel 3 XL that has appeared in the recent leaks could be the Falcon phone made by LG.
Xiaomi has shared its financials for the three-month period of Q2 2018, where the company has reported a significant jump in its revenues and a surprise profit. This comes on the hill of Xiaomi’s Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO) last month.
The China-based company has reported a profit of 14.6 billion yuan (approximately $2.1 billion) in the second quarter, a significant jump compared to the last year when the company reported 11.9 billion yuan.
The company says that its sales grew 68.3 percent to 45.23 billion yuan, up from 26.9 billion yuan a year earlier. The growth in sales for Xiaomi can be attributed to the higher smartphone sales volume and higher average selling price for these devices.
Xiaomi, which is mainly known for its budget smartphones, recorded revenue of 30.5 billion yuan for its smartphone business in the second quarter, a surge of 58.7 percent compared to the same period last year. The company claimed that it managed total shipments of 32 million smartphone units in Q2 2018.
However, analysts believe that the Chinese company is eyeing for the Internet-of-Things (IoT) market. Xiaomi reported that revenue from its IoT products, which includes smart TV sets and laptop computers, increased 104.3 percent to 10.4 billion yuan. Further, it adds that revenue from internet services, which include online advertising, rose 63.6 percent to 4 billion yuan.
The company reports that 36 percent of the revenue comes from international markets. Its worldwide growth is 151 percent on a yearly basis and while the increase comes predominantly from India, the company also reports about progress in Indonesia and European countries.
In line with its dream of dominating the global markets, Xiaomi recently launched a new sub-brand name POCO in India and POCOPHONE globally. The brand will focus on premium affordable devices to take on the likes of OnePlus and Huawei’s Honor. Yesterday, it launched the first smartphone under this new brand — POCO F1, which is touted as the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone, with price starting at Rs. 19,999, roughly $286.
Following in the footsteps of its well-received predecessors, Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2S became an instant hit among smartphone lovers. The phone’s impressive array of features propelled it to skyrocketing popularity despite its steep price tag.
On the downside, the phone failed to make a deep-rooted impact on Xiaomi fans that aren’t willing to spend a lot of money on a smartphone. As a result, the Mi Mix 2S smartphone’s demand remained limited to well-heeled buyers who didn’t mind shelling out a large amount.
But much to the relief of cost-conscious buyers, GeekBuying is now giving a noteworthy discount on the Mi Mix 2S smartphone’s steep retail price. While the phone would normally set you back $889.99 on online stores, you can now buy it at a dropped price of just $790.99 on the Chinese electronics online store.

The GooglePixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are expected to go official in early October, but multiple leaks have revealed plenty of information on the Pixel 3 XL. Rozetked, a Russian website and tech pundit Wylsacom have shared new photos of the Pixel 3 XL to reveal its design from all angles. Also, the specifications of the smartphone have also leaked through the AIDA utility app.
Hate the notch? Various smartphone manufacturers have tried to offer customers with notched phones with slight variation in the design of the notch. Smartphones like Essential Phone, OPPO F9 and OPPO R17 have smaller notch whereas some phones like Xiaomi Poco F1 and Mi 8 have large-sized as they are equipped with IR components for infrared face unlock. The hands-on photos of the Pixel 3 XL shown below reveals that it is fitted with a fat notched screen.
The size of the notch is big because it is packed with dual front-facing cameras and a speaker apart from other sensors. Well, compared to other notched phones, the big notch of the Pixel 3 XL makes it appear less attractive. Also, the bottom bezel that houses the second speaker is quite thick. The handset sports a black front and dual-tone white rear.
The upper glossy glass portion of the back panel has an LED enabled single camera. The remaining part of the back panel with frosty appeal features a fingerprint scanner and a G logo at the bottom. As it can be seen in the short video clip, the glass rear of the Pixel 3 XL will allow it to carry support for wireless charging.
