Lenovo Z5 Pro specs leak reveals 6.5-inch display, Snapdragon 845, 8 GB RAM and 4,000mAh battery

Earlier in this month, Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng had shared a short clip of an upcoming slider phone. Few days later, another video of the same phone with Lenovo Z5 Pro moniker had appeared on Weibo. The specs of the phone have remained under the wraps. Since the Lenovo Z5 that was unveiled in June had arrived with mid-range specs, it is being speculated that the Lenovo Z5 Pro may carry flagship specs. Snapshots of online retailer listing of the Z5 Pro smartphone have surfaced on Baidu. The listing carries a render and key specs of the phone.

The render shown on the online listing of the Z5 Pro appears to be fan-made image. The image shows that the frontside of the phone is mainly occupied by the display with a very thin notch at the top. The color gradient back panel of the phone features a dual camera setup. The render does not resemble with the Z5 Pro that is expected to arrive with a manual slider design.

The specs mentioned on the online listing of the Z5 Pro reveals that it features a 6.5-inch display that offers Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1440 pixels and a weird aspect ratio of 19:14. It boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent.

The Snapdragon 845 chipset is present under the hood of the Z5 Pro. It is listed with 6 GB and 8 GB RAM options and storage sizes like 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The handset is packed with a 4,000mAh battery. For photography, the handset is equipped with 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup. It is speculated that the handset could be arriving with an in-display fingerprint reader.

There is no confirmation on the authenticity of the above listing. Hence, it is advisable to digest the report with a grain of salt. Also, there is no information available on the launch date of the Lenovo Z5 Pro.

Huawei gave out power banks to Apple fans queuing for iPhones in Singapore

Huawei has taken the act of mocking the newly launched iPhones to the next level in seemingly funny way. In Singapore, those who were waiting overnight for the release of the iPhone XS and XS Max, were handed power banks by the China-based tech giant.

Some people wearing Huawei t-shirts started giving away power banks to the hundreds of people waiting in line to get their hands on the newly announced iPhones. Not just that, there’s a message on the power bank’s box which reads – “Here’s a power bank. You’ll need it. Courtesy of Huawei.”

The power banks that the Chinese company is handing out for free aren’t cheap or old units. The company is giving away Huawei’s SuperCharge 10,000mAh power banks, which are priced at around SD80 (approx. $59) per unit.

Huawei has been subtly trolling Apple ever since the new iPhones were announced. Just after the Apple launch event on September 12, the company posted a video on social media platforms that says “Thank you for letting us be the real hero for the year. See you in London 16.10.18.”

Xiaomi had introduced the selfie-centric Redmi Y2 smartphone in June in India. It had arrived in color options such as Dark Grey, Gold and Rose Gold. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed through the Redmi India Twitter account that the Redmi Y2 handset will be made available in two new colors such as Mesmerising Blue and Stunning Black starting from today.

Amazon.in and Mi.com have launched the Redmi Y2 in Mesmerising Blue and Stunning Black variants through their 12 PM sale. The new color variants of the Redmi Y2 will be also available soon at Mi Home stores and offline outlets in India.

Xiaomi is known for maintaining the popularity of its phones by introducing new color variants for its existing smartphones. In August, the Mi A2 Android phone was launched in colors like Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue and yesterday it had debuted the Red variant of the smartphone. Samsung to launch Galaxy F foldable smartphone without Gorilla Glass

Here comes new information about the Samsung’s much-rumored Galaxy F foldable smartphone. As per the recent report, Samsung will not secure the Galaxy F foldable display with the Corning Gorilla Glass due to technological limitations. Due to some unknown reasons, Corning lost out on a chance to be a part of the Samsung’s first flexible smartphone. Instead, Samsung will use a special cover glass from Sumitomo Chemical of Japan to protect its display.

According to our folks at Sammmobile, Galaxy F can’t use the Gorilla glass “due to the former’s rigid nature.” Samsung is using transparent polyimide which posses durability properties making it suitable for the Galaxy F flexible form factor. Sammobile detailed that, “the strong glass wouldn’t allow the device to fold into half. Samsung will thus use a transparent polyimide supplied by Sumitomo Chemical of Japan. It would be less durable than Gorilla Glass but would allow the Galaxy F to retain its flexible form factor.”

Currently, it’s unknown why Samsung denied the Corning Gorilla Glass and is using the material from Sumitomo. Well, whatever has happened will be for the betterment of the device and as per the needs of the Samsung. As per the source, Samsung Galaxy F might release until next year, snubbing the rumors which slated it for the November launch.

The Google Pixel 3 is now listed on the JD.com, a retailer site from China. The handset has appeared with a price tag of 4,999 Yuan (~$729). It is not the actual pricing of the Pixel 3 as the handset is yet to go official. The listing also contains some renders of the smartphone.

The renders showcase the design of both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. However, these photos are just modified version of the renders that were created by popular tipster @OnLeaks. It is not surprising to see an unannounced phone on a retailer site. However, what’s interesting about the Pixel 3 listing on JD is that Google has never released its Pixel phones in China. Since Google is blocked in China, neither the Nexus phones nor the Pixel series were made available in the country. The JD listing of Pixel 3 suggests that the search engine could be planning to enter China again. However, there is no official confirmation on it yet.

The Google Pixel 3 JD listing had carried the pricing of the smartphone. However, the listing has been updated as it only contains the renders of the phone at present. Rumors surrounding the Pixel 3 have revealed that the handset will be arriving with a 5.4-inch display that will support Full HD+ resolution and 18:9. The Snapdragon 845 SoC is expected to power the phone along with 4 GB of RAM. It is expected to come loaded with Android 9 Pie.

The back panel of the Google Pixel 3 is rumored to feature a single camera of 12-megapixel. The front panel of the phone is tipped to be equipped with 8-megapixel dual selfie snappers. The exact size of the battery of the Pixel 3 is not known yet. The handset is rumored to hit the market in 64 GB and 128 GB storage models.

As promised, Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 8.0 OTA update on Mi 5S Plus in China. Users are reporting about the latest Mi 5s Plus OTA update on Mi community forums. It was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard in September 2016. The update brings in many new features and changes which will increase the overall usability of the device.

In details, Mi 5s Plus new update is focused on better battery life, increased speed and security. It brings improved Doze mode which helps you to save some battery life by bringing the idle apps to sleep. HMD Global confirms October 4 launch date; May debut Nokia 7.1 Plus aka X7

HMD Global is now gearing up to unveil a new smartphone in the coming month. The Finnish firm has started sending out invites for the upcoming launch event. Even though the invite does not give out any information on the upcoming Nokia phone, rumors are rife that the company may unleash the Nokia X7 smartphone.

As the invite reveals, the HMD Global will be introducing a new smartphone on Oct. 4. The launch event will begin at 5:00 PM and it will be held at Central London.

Nokia fans are eagerly waiting for the company to announce the Nokia 9 flagship phone that is speculated to arrive with penta-lens system. However, a recent report has revealed that its arrival has been delayed as the Finnish firm is reportedly planning to announce it at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 tech expo that will be held in February next year. Recent reports suggest that the company may unleash the Nokia X7 instead of the Nokia 9 phone.

Just as the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 have arrived with notched display design, it is speculated that the Nokia X7 will be also coming with the same design. Yesterday, a leaked image showing the front and rear design of the phone had surfaced online.

The leaked image of the Nokia X7 shows that it is equipped with a notched screen at the front whereas the back panel is equipped with vertical dual cameras and a fingerprint scanner. The ZEISS branding can be seen between the two camera sensors. Just as the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 were released out of China respectively as Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus, the upcoming Nokia X7 is very likely release outside of China as Nokia 7.1 Plus.

There is no information available on the specifications of the Nokia X7. Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone to reportedly launch in India next month

ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia, which launched its first gaming smartphone named Nubia Red Magic earlier this year, is now reportedly all set to launch the gaming phone in the Indian market. According to a report, which cites sources close to the development, Nubia will launch the phone in India in the third week of October.

The report further claims that the phone will be priced under Rs. 30,000 (approximately $417). With the Nubia Red Magic gaming phone, the company is competing against the likes of Xiaomi, Razer, and Asus which have already launched a dedicated gaming smartphone.

However, none of the gaming smartphones have been officially launched in India yet. So, the Nubia Red Magic could be the first high-end gaming smartphone to make its way to India. Recently, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had launched its Honor Play affordable gaming smartphone in India, which starts at Rs. 19,999, roughly $278.

The Nubia Red Magic is made out of aluminum and is ergonomically designed for extended gameplay. It uses advanced thermal modeling techniques and is claimed to be the first smartphone to use an all-new air convection cooling system which is designed to dissipate heat effectively across its diamond-cut design without compromising on performance.

To make it stand out from the competition, the phone is branded with a distinctive RGB LED strip. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an edge-to-edge 2.5D NEG T2X-1 screen, 18:9 aspect ratio and 1500:1 contrast ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 835 processor.

The processor is coupled Adreno 540 GPU, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB dual-channel flash memory. The Nubia Red Magic comes with a GameBoost mode, which frees up memory-intensive resources and delivers higher frame rates.

Amazfit Verge Hands on pictures: A complete premium smartwatch is born!

Huami officially unveiled its latest smartwatch dubbed Amazfit Verge a couple of days back. Make no mistake, the Verge isn’t the Amazfit Watch 3 neither is it a successor of the Amazfit Stratos sports watch. The wearable device is on a pedestal of its own. That is well reflected in the design which the Verge adopts. The 799 yuan (~$116) price tag it features is equally lower than the 999 yuan (~$146) Amazfit Stratos’. We bring you a couple of hands-on pictures of the Amazfit Verge so you get a closer look at the device from all angles.

The Verge packs a 1.3-inch circular display with a diameter of 43mm. This is similar in size with the higher variant of Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch. Well, except that the Amazfit Verge is made from reinforced plastic, giving it a sporty outlook rather than the looks of a traditional watch which Samsung’s models adapt. The Verge also doesn’t feature a rotating bezel but it is equipped with an AMOLED display with a resolution of 360x360pixels as well as Gorilla Glass 3 on top. Huami says there is a coating on top of the screen which prevents fingerprint smudges from accumulating on the screen during use. The smartwatch is equipped with a silicone strap that can be removed in the same manner as those of the Amazfit Pace and Stratos. More importantly, it is lightweight, weighing just 46 grams. The build is IP68 certified but you still can’t take the watch swimming or when going under the shower.

Some persons may not find the design too appealing, especially when compared to the Amazfit Stratos but bear in mind this isn’t a sports-focused smartwatch. So, the rugged looks of the Stratos give way for a more refined, sleek and elegant mien. That doesn’t mean the Verge hasn’t got you covered when you’re out jogging or on the treadmill. The device comes with support for 11 different sports mode including Golfing, Riding, Running, hiking, Gym training, Soccer and Boat riding. It also has GPS+GLONASS support. In addition, the smartwatch is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0+BLE. Sadly, there is no LTE connectivity but we believe that could come on subsequent versions. The watch is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 512MB RAM and 4 GB ROM. Along with the usual sensors, there are additional geomagnetic, and air pressure sensors on board. Also onboard, is a 390mAh battery which Huami claims can last up to 5 days, depending on the usage.

While the Amazfit Pace and Stratos main feature are basically sports and fitness tracking, the Verge is focused on the Internet of Things (IoT), smart home controls, voice assistant and with NFC, contactless payment. As a smart home device controller, the Amazfit Verge allows users to control their smart gadgets right from the watch interface. It comes with support for Xiaomi’s MIJIA smart home apps and can be deployed to control up to eleven smart home gadgets. Gadgets that can be controlled via the MIJIA app on the watch include Mi Robot Vacuum, Water Purifier, temperature and humidity sensor, air-conditioner, electric fan, air detector, smart light, rice cooker, smart switch/socket and Mi Air Purifier.

The Amazfit Verge also keeps track of the user’s heart rate all day long and is capable of detecting abnormal heart rhythm. When such an abnormality is detected, the user is alerted immediately. In addition, the watch comes with Xiao AI assistant which can act as a personal assistant. The AI-powered virtual assistant can remind you of important schedules like an upcoming meeting, important stuff like your car’s number plate. It could even tell a joke when you’re not feeling happy! The feature may have been fully adapted for use in China. We wait to see how fast Huami deploys these features for the global market. So too for the NFC-based cardless payment. I China the Verge can be used for bus payment on 165 cities covering over 20,000 public transport routes. It also supports AliPay and UnionPay will roll out in November.

The Amazfit Verge also share similar user interface and perhaps user experience with the Pace and Stratos as all models are based on the same software platform and they are developed by the same team. However, the several additional features will ensure the interface of the Verge is more robust. It comes with 13 built-in watch faces with three made in collaboration with San Francisco-based Territory Studio. We expect to serve you the Amazfit Verge review sometime soon. Realme 2 Pro to have 8GB RAM+128GB ROM, new leak reveals

Realme will launch a more powerful version of its Realme 2 smartphone in a week. The phone which is named Realme 2 Pro appeared in a YouTube video yesterday that featured the company’s CEO who disclosed some of its specs. A new info has surfaced online which reveals new details.

The info comes as a live photo of the Realme 2 Pro and it shows the phone powered on with the “About Phone” section visible. Once again we see the waterdrop notch which houses the front camera.

The “About Phone” section confirms the phone is indeed powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 mobile platform but shows this particular variant has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There will also be a 6GB RAM variant. The Realme 2 Pro will also run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Renders of Google’s ChromeOS tablet leaks, has a fingerprint scanner

Google is expected to announce a new PixelBook at its October 9 event. Early rumors and leaks point at a detachable 2-in-1 design which means the PixelBook 2 will also double as a ChromeOS tablet just like the Microsoft Surface Book doubles as a Windows tablet. A new leak might be our first look at this new PixelBook or Google’s first ChromeOS tablet.

The leak comes from About Chromebooks, a site that covers anything related to ChromeOS. Apparently, they found in a code commit that ChromeOS tablets will gain support for keyboard docks in the near future. The commit description even mentions the keyboard bases will have a dedicated Google Assistant button and a “Hamburger” or options button. The code commit also revealed some of the brands that would make these keyboards, one of them is Brydge, a manufacturer of premium keyboards for iPads.

Yesterday, Brydge accidentally posted two unreleased keyboards on their Shopify page which are for Google devices (read ChromeOS tablets). Renders of one of the keyboards named Wallaby is attached to a tablet said to be Google’s ChromeOS tablet codenamed “Nocturne”.

Wallaby has a design similar to the Bryde keyboard in this video below which allows the keyboard and tablet to be opened and closed like it’s a laptop.

The tablet has a USB-C port on the left but Nocturne is expected to come with two USB-C ports. It also has dual front-facing speakers which are located on the right/bottom and left/top bezels.

Another render showing the keyboard and tablet from the top shows the tablet has a small indentation on the left. That indentation is rumored to be a fingerprint scanner. Nocturne is said to also have a fingerprint scanner and this gif from 9to5Google shows the fingerprint scanner is in a similar position.

The keyboard itself comes in blue but we can’t say if there will be other colors at launch. There is a moderately sized trackpad and the keys do not look cramped. You can also spot the hamburger key (after the volume up button) and the Google Assistant key (between the function and alt keys).

The second keyboard is named Goanna and is much wider like a desktop keyboard. It doesn’t have a trackpad but has a hamburger key and Google Assistant key like Wallaby. It comes in the same blue color.

iVoomi iPro Android Go smartphone with Shatterproof Display launched in India for Rs. 3,999 ($56)

iVoomi has today launched its new entry-level smartphone in the Indian market — iVoomi iPro. The phone, which is a part of Android Go program, is claimed to have shatterproof glass protection.

The phone is priced at Rs. 3,999, which roughly converts to $56. It’ll be available for purchase exclusively through Flipkart in three color options — Platinum Gold, Indie Blue, and Matte Red. The company has also partnered with Reliance Jio for the ‘Jio Football Offer’ which provides additional cashback on the prepaid pack.

The phone features a 4.95-inch FWVGA+ FullView display with screen resolution of 960 x 480 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display panel is protected by a glass panel that the company claims as shatterproof.

Under the hood, there’s 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC powering the device, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It packs 8GB of onboard storage that is expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card.

It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera sensor with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper for taking selfies. The front camera also supports the Face Unlock feature. The camera comes with the support for various features, such as Time-Lapse and AR Emoji.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB along with USB OTG support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. As said, the iVoomi iPro is a part of Google’s Android Go programme, and thus it runs Android Oreo (Go Edition) operating system out-of-the-box and is powered by a 2,000mAh battery.

iVoomi recently launched the first smartphone under its new Innelo sub-brand, dubbed as Innelo 1, which is exclusively available for purchase in India through Amazon.
